Excellent display of Renaissance art! The truth is...
Excellent display of Renaissance art! The truth is that all the characteristics of this type of art can be clearly seen in the exhibited works! I recommend it!

Opposite the museum you can get priority tickets. Turn on the red dot. Costs 4 euros more than the regular card.
Very surreal to see the original David, knowing how old it is.
Great museum and not as big as you might expect, but that makes it easier to see and enjoy if you are not a huge art fan. The highlight is Michelangelo's master piece: David. Just stunning!
Only visited for David, the main attraction. Thats all there really is, aside from more and more religious paintings
Very friendly staff. Especially working with groups of students. Praise to Fabio B. and Titian. Group from Zagreb.
Michelangelo's David is perfect wherever you look at it.
If Michelangelo's statue of David (and some his other unfinished works) were not here, the gallery would probably not exist, so don't expect too much more than those items. Of course they are worth the visit but the scourge of the selfie is prevalent and regrettably our own narcissistic importance seem to be suffocating what most people would consider art.
For David and Botticelli you pay the entrance alone
Beautiful art and statues. Shame about state of toilets.
Great exhibits! A must see for every tourist in Florence but the art students/enthusiasts will be head over heals here!
Small nice museum with the superb David by Michel Angelo where we were able to stroll quietly without a crowd of visitors thank you the covid, it allowed us to visit in exceptional conditions
Fortunately was able to visit this on a Thursday evening opening (also on Tuesdays) when very much less crowded. Star was David, amazing to see how big this statue is.
Founded in 1784, it is an affiliated gallery of the Florence Academy of Fine Arts. The museum houses sculptures and paintings by Renaissance artists Michelangelo, Botticelli, Giambologna, Paolo Uccello Works, the most important exhibit is Michelangelo's sculpture "David" (David). Florence Academy of Fine Arts is the earliest school in Europe to teach art. Most people now come to see Michelangelo's work "David". The famous David is Michelangelo's masterpiece. The statue is 2.5 meters high and the base is 5.5 meters. The whole statue is carved from a block of marble. Michelangelo carved it for more than 3 years to complete this large guard. David was so finely sculpted that even the blood vessels showing force on his arm were clearly visible. He glared, his brows closed, and he held a stone in his hand, showing the image of a hero who always joined the battle.
Small but if you're here for anything but David I'd be surprised. Very long lines for a small gallery so be prepared to wait. On a positive note, the buildings surrounding the gallery are very tall so you won't be in the sun!
Gallery of great renaissance art...Michelangelo s David stands out
Stunning, if you're in Florence don't miss this. The queues were really short, we waited for about 10 minutes.
The famous David, and the incredible prisons of Michelangelo. The first work of youth celebrates the power of the body, while the latter, sculpted at 50, depict the materiality of the body as a prison.
Those who come to Florence and do not visit it make a sacrilege
The museum is not only home of the David but it also has so many other important pieces of art, such as the ones in the Sala del Colosso. Is definitely worth a visit, also considering that it's only 2 to go in if you are under 26 or a student (full price is 12 ). Usually there is not much queue to go in.
Fantastic looking man with a sling, lots of Madonna's and thirsty boys. 10/10
David is probably the best statue I have ever seen. Skip the line tickets worked well. The rest of the artworks were probably diminished by David but still worth a look.
Too bad you have to make a long line to enter if you are not part of a group with reservations. It takes me an hour and a half to enter. The gallery is very small. It takes perfectly 20 minutes to cover it. But seeing the David was worth it. It is imposing and is bigger than I thought. Excellent .
Unbelievable sculptures and artwork it s definitely a must do in Florence. I mean who doesn t want to see the statue of David?
David and some incomplete works by Michelangelo make this museum an attraction not to be missed. Too bad that the visit is limited to a few (but not to be missed)
Amazing experience!!!! A must see!!! If you willing to spend 1,5 hours in line it's only 12 euros per
Fabulous! Michelangelo's David I highly recommend it! The other rooms the same! It's a museum not to be missed!
The original David. Simply fantastic. Honor to Michelangelo
Too hot and crowded. Not very much to see except David (which is incredible).
Very interesting place. It's a big hall with old stones shaped into figures. There's a giant statue at the end of some young fella with a sling.
I think this is a Museum of the Selfie. Most of the museum goers were looking at pictures of themselves and not at the art work on display. I am sure that's what the artist intended.
We arrived 10 minutes before last entry and only had to queue for 5 mins. 45 mins inside was enough time to see the David, the Prisoners and the other minor works.
It was raining, so I went to the idea of seeing just one David, but the size was small but the statues were surprisingly good.
Wonderful gallery with David, a must see. At 9 o'clock about an hour queue (no reservation). With reservations, people have priority, the desert is the second entrance. The ticket is purchased directly inside. The tour is for an hour. When leaving, the queue increased to 2 to 3 hours min.
What can you say? You get to see the original, restored David. Worth it, even if you look at nothing else, though they do have a small collection of other cool art.
Priceless artistic value and seeing the sculpture of David by Michelangelo is priceless and worth every penny
Incredible would recommend getting a guide to teach you all the hidden secrets behind the art.
The Academia displays some beautiful Renaissance paintings and a variety of sculpture work, but the highlight is Michelangelo's "David" and other unfinished sculptures. Truly a must-see as pictures do not do justice to the size and detail of his work. In October 2018, the Florence Pass was worth the cost because it got us into major sites like this with very little waiting in line.
An easily overlooked locale, but that's a shame. Final resting place of many famous Italian thinkers and artists, among them Enrico Fermi, Michael Angelo, Nicholas Machiavelli, Tesla, and others. Brilliant minds all.
You can see the real David so that's great, but the rest of it is a bit boring.
Awesome to see. Get a fast pass or you'll spend all day in a line.
Nice museum, not very big. Lots of 'ecclesiastical' art, but of course the museam is all about being able to see the David. It is in a beautiful spot and can also be admired at busy times.
The David is a must see. Lots of people though want to see it to.
It is recommended to take tickets for the visit. This way you save queues of up to 2 hours. Poorly organized entrance for people without reservation, although it is worth seeing Michelangelo's David.
Loads of pictures of Jesus and his mum , along with some statues of naked men! Oh sorry that's medieval art and sculpture, is impressive none the less, worth the 10 for none reserved entry...skipping the line or a tour a bit of a waste as most tours miss out the second floor and you queue anyway. I recommend getting there at 8.15 am low season and you get in within 45 mins to one hour wait!
Amazing museum in which you can see the David. Long line, to skip it evaluate to buy a FirenzeCard.
Must go here when In Florence! The statue of David was breath taking! Make sure you buy tickets before as the lines are crazy!!!! Even with tickets it took us about half an hour to get in! The other line was over 3 hours and growing fast! There was lots of other nice things to see but David alone was well worth the money!
The works are wonderful. The gallery is poorly lit but the David's layout is exceptional.
The art and statutes here are everything I was told they were, and more. Amazing!
We weren't able to find tickets for our dates (late Feb) online, so we booked over the phone and got there right before open. It was snowing so maybe this factored in, but we were very few people that early and got to examine the art mostly by ourselves, we even got some photos of David with no one around except for security. The crowds grew within twenty to thirty minutes but it was still reasonable.
It's worth booking a ticket in advance - waiting time without a ticket is up to 3 hours, but it's worth seeing David.
Beautiful sacred art, besides plaster room and "David" marble works and the 4 unfinished works by Michelangelo
The original statue of David is located here. It is amazing in its own right. I went on the first Sunday of the month which makes admission free. I give it two stars because of the gift shop staff. They were talking very rudely about visitors in Italian. Spanish being my first language, I understood a good portion of what they were saying which was not good. And it wasn't just 1, it was all 3 of them.
This is a beautiful museum filled with paintings and sculptures. The sculpture "David" by Michelangelo is on display here. The entrance fee is 8 for the normal queue. However, people start queuing from 08h00. There's also a musical instruments museum within the exhibit.
I could give 5 stars but the truth is that I would only give them if I was an art teacher, art student or historian. If you go like most mortals, only Michelangelo's David is interesting. And note that I like art but the most relevant. The entire museum is loaded with religious iconogrqfia from the 13, 14 and 15 centuries. Once you have seen Michelangelo's masterpiece, you can leave the Academy in peace ...
If you go, be sure to admire the absurdity of the human being, taking photos of the statue without even stopping for 5 minutes to observe it, analyze it and study its 'why'.
Must visit when in Florence, historical and cultural immersion !!!
They really need to place the bust of Michael Angelo in a better position in the gallery. Not tucked away where a majority of visitors miss it as they walk in.
If you don't have skip the line tickets, look for an experience on Airbnb - for 20 bucks a guide will get you in without a wait. We went with Mario on the same day.
David is amazing. The other statues are cool but its a little too small.
They are practically just plaster replicas of the originals. However it is worth seeing the original statue of David as it is quite iconic
Walking in this place is wonderful to be checked ...
The art work was significant. Housed in an unassuming neighborhood and location. Only issue I had is that as a foreigner you were required to give and leave your passport as a deposit for the audio tour. I never give up my passport so I didn't have all the information I would have liked. But Michaelanglo David was outrageous.
Was hoping to see more da Vinci pieces having said that the art was amazing. Some paintings are almost 800 years old. And of course David, wonderful place and of course a must see in Florence. Bought tickets on line for a specific time. Exchanged email to tickets at a ticket place just opposite the gallery number 51. For in straight away. A little more expensive but worth it.
It is worth visiting if only for the David, but also the museum of music deserves ... Cute the sector dedicated to plaster of numerous works
