Good food, a bit pricey.

Nice selection of wines
Quaint space, good food though precious portions -- and the staff wasn't very accommodating.
Busy restaurant but was worth the wait. Friendly staff and great food
If you want a different breakfast, try their steamed eggs with toast, juices, and round up with a cappuccino...
Amazing food! Everything we order was simply amazing! We had the croq monsieur, dauphinois, poireaux, coq a vin, cassoulet, and the selection of fromages. Honestly, can't complain about ANYTHING I tried. It was all genuinely delicious.
We had great breakfast at this great place. I do not recommend sitting on the bar as all food going out from there during breakfast. Service was great and the food was delicious.
Exquisite is the operative word. Quality over quantity whilst satisfying hunger. Excellent atmosphere. Better for 2-4 people rather than large groups, yet they seem to have a large group table at the back.
Perfect petit dejeuner! They have heating lamps to keep you warm although you may have to adjust your seat to get full effect. Recommend getting the croquet monsieur!
Good brunch spot for a light, quick rainy morning in New York City
As if in Paris! Love the food, really tasty. Amazing service and decor. Date night worthy!
Quaint New York dining. Friendly and efficient staff!
Seated at 5 pm. Tried to order coffee and pastries and were told it was only dinner menu. I think that's too early. Will not return.
Best chance of getting a table is right when it opens, otherwise be prepared for a significant wait... Totally worth it though, with incredibly delicious eggs (steamed using an espresso wand!) and other tasty dishes all served in small but deceptively filling packages.
Awesome food super nice little place and atmosphere, but very much on the pricey side. It s a nice place to go for a special breakfast occasion. Still I would recommend
Very quaint interior, good spot for a drink however service was on the slow slide and cheese platter was more saucer size than platter size!
By far my favorite place in terms of vibes and the food quality! A bit small on the servings
Small portions, but sublime! Have to add that my husband had an excellent Manhattan. We'll definitely return.
Was not a pleasant experience. They manage the line with a smile, but lie in your face saying its only 20 and you wait for 1 hour +.
Won t be back.
Besides the amazing food, I will not recommend this place, for its cramped spaces, long waiting times, high prices and stuck up service. The wine menu (pictured) is smart!
Real butter soft eggs and no wait for 2 a friday at 10am. The portions are small but filling (see: real butter). Small tables cozy. Everything is pretty and perfect and you emerge either rejuvenated wearing lipstick and speaking french or slightly ashamed but either way this is clearly serious brunch, the place screams brunch.
Fabulous food and service but the most expensive breakfast I have ever eaten
The place is beautiful but the eggs where to spicy with too much herbs
Great restaurant for a rich breakfast and with good customer service
Great outdoor dining place! Staffs were kind and attentive. It s a lovely spot. Their portions are relatively small but were perfect for us.
A treasure in the city. Absolutely perfect decor, food and service. Get there early to beat the crowds.
Everything was delicious. Literally. You can t go wrong. And rich/flavorful. We may have over indulged a bit, but well worth it. It s a cozy space, both in and outside. If you have an opportunity to sit outside, take it. It s beautiful and surprisingly quiet.
Pro tip: get there before 10 to get in quickly. A line forms pretty fast after that. When we left there was a massive crowd waiting outside.
too crowded. typical bistro. Very wannabee basic crowd that just arrived in New York in the last two years and pretentious beyond belief. I don't like over hyped places that attract people who have shares in Montauk. Yep, that's the crowd here. Shares in Montauk, can't afford the West Village so crawl over from Bushwick or the Lower East Side and pose.
Oh, the food was good. Great Parisian style bistro food, just kick the people out and the long wait. I'd rather go to Popeyes.
Cozy and authentic French place - I went for Sunday brunch which felt like a little French cafe in Paris (it looks identical to the location in Paris but a bit bigger). High quality food and friendly staff. The place fills up quickly so plan to arrive early if you're in a group.
I had one of the best brunches of my life here. Friendly staff and good atmosphere. A must visit place.
Wine and small plates. Cosy. Tasty. Lovely in every way.
Wonderful venue, quality fare and friendly service in a cozy environment
The steamed scrambled eggs are perfect!
Excellent brunch. Scrambled eggs were perfectly cooked and the combination of the creme fraiche and capers with the smoked salmon was very tasty.
A little on the pricy side but worth the experience of a buzzing French cafe.
AMAZING sandwich. Taste still fresh in my mind. Although the waffle wasn't the best I've had!
Great Belgian waffle . Good avo toast. Cold coffee sometimes.
Really good brunch and dinner. Also pretty romantic spot for a date. Portions can stand to be a bit bigger.
We tried avocado toast, which is butter and delicious. We also tried small waffles, but fresh plump berries and delicious cream.
Expected more menu options - they have a lot of runny egg options if you re into that. Service was slow. Croissants were way too small. Very cute ambiance tho!
Buvette is the perfect place if you are looking for a romantic/chill/speakeasy spot. You will definitely spend some good quality time here with another person or a small party of 4. Excellent (French) wine list and selection of (French) cheeses and (French) charcuterie. Plus cocktails of course. I would say that this wine bar is the right choice after or before a show, movie theater or for a late date night.
The atmosphere of Buvette is great, and I'm referring to lighting, music, staff look ( servers bartenders and runners)
We had 2 cocktails. My old fashioned was good/OK ( 7.5 out of 10) and my girlfriend's daiquiri was very good ( 8.5 out 10). We shared a cheese board and they served it with very good crostini. You can ask for more if you want to but is just gonna be regular bread, I would have liked more crostini, the bread they served was not a good fit for its purpose. Let's not be cheap here guys, come on, 3 crostini for all that cheese won't never be enough :)
Overall I think that Buvette is SLIGHTLY pricey but what do you expect: you are in Manhattan, you want quality, you pay. Pretty straight and there's nothing wrong with that.
Atmosphere 10
Food 7.5 ( 9 if you are less cheap)
Cocktails: 8
Will def come back
Such small tables and the dishes aren t very large either, but the ambience and service is just fantastic!
I don't love buvette. We were looking for a place, and came upon it by chance. What a lovely setting and warm vibe the place gave off. We went in, put our name down and luckily got a garden table in less than 20 minutes. It was a tight space, but it was beautiful. We were pretty thrilled. The menu is pretty compact. We chose three items to share and ordered a glass of wine each. Perhaps we didnt do what was expected of us...? I'm not sure what happened after this point. Our first dish came out pretty quick. We expected the wine to follow right after but it didn't come. We waited for while. When the second dish came we asked the guy about the wine and he said that our server will be bringing it. We waited again for some time and finally our server came to check on us and we asked about the wine again. Clearly she forgot. Once the wine arrived, we worked on the first two items. One of them was the moules au curry. The mussels and fries were ok, but the sauce was pretty delicious. Normally one would get some bread with a dish like this to soak up all that goodness. We didnt, but felt bold enough to ask for it. We went through the bread pretty quickly and hoped for some more because there was still some of the delicious sauce left. So we asked again. We waited for a while, when the guy who brought us the first dish came by and asked if we needed anything else and started to clear the dishes away. We felt kind of awkward and maybe a little unwelcome and said we were waiting for another dish. But truly we both wanted to get out of there. So when he asked if he could take the leftover sauce away, we were ok with it. We waited long enough for the bread, and it never did come. Our server came back and asked if there was anything else. We said we had a third dish coming but if they forgot it, maybe we could order something else in its place. Just then she remembered that the dish was ready! And within minutes it came out. It was the betteraves. The menu describes it as roasted beets, shallot and horseradish creme fraiche. It was cold and had the texture of boiled beets with a dollop of sour cream on top of it. I took one bite and I was done but my lovely date painfully ate it. I dont know why. Once again our server returned and asked if we wanted anything else. We both vehemently shook our heads and said NO THANK YOU! We did not enjoy eating and drinking at Buvette. It is entirely possible they were having an off night. But it is entirely certain we will not be returning to find out if that's true or not. We will not miss each other. Bye Buvette.
severely overrated, arrogant waiters, mediocre food.
Staff is extremely rude- they were rude even before we sat down we should have left right away. They forgot the pickles that come with the croque - had to show it on the menu when I asked for them because the waitress did not believe me! the croque is a joke- two mini slices of bread for $18, not even worth 10$.
They automatically add 25% tips even tho there is absolutely NO service whatsoever.
Amazing food and service! Outdoor seating on Grove St transports you and it feels just like you re dining in Europe. Couldn t recommend enough! (They have natural wine too!)
Small plates but every bite was more delicious than the next.
Absolutely one of my favorite NYC places. Always a line and just soooo good! For breakfast, get the croissants regardless of what else you order. Any steamed egg dish - the salmon is large and amazing! So tasty! For dinner, the anchovy toast is unreal! I love a good pile of butter! Great wines, great atmosphere! Nice people watching and wonderful experience. Worth waiting for a table!
Intimate place with lots of charm a great food. Great atmosphere
The restaurant has a friendly atmosphere, great music, and awesome food. What else is there to say? Try it, you'll enjoy your time here.
Loved it greatest salad ever such good food always.
Great wine selection very reasonably priced and simple French bistro menu so no need to stress what to get. Most things are done well but not great. It's French provincial style with a twist. Small plates so you won't leave stuffed but you'll feel great. Service it French provincial too
This was hands down one of our favourite brunch place in New York -- we even went back a second time during our week there. We tried both waffles (egg & bacon, and one with berries), both were delicious! The restaurant is small and tables are tiny, but it's part of the charm! The decor and ambience is authentic to the french cafe feel. Overall, would definitely recommend!
Cane and had coffee. Everything looked good. Next I'll have to try a plate
Quaint, cute, intimate, food is good and so are the wines. A great NY French inspired spot.
This is a famous picturesque restaurant in a nice location with warm flavors and service
Loved EVERYTHING here: food, drinks, service and cozy atmosphere!
Buvette is one of my favorite places in the West Village. Great scene, great atmosphere, the decoration is just right and the food, though limited in selection, is pretty good. I do wish they had some more options. The downside...I don't think you can get a good affordable bottle/glass of wine here. I've had nice wine here, it's just been expensive.
Part of Buvette's charm is its bustle, even on a Monday afternoon. Sit at the bar and watch the people at work the croq forestier (an umami bomb in itself) was generously portioned and fantastic washed down with a Cab Franc. An enjoyable afternoon indeed.
Delicious! It's teeny tiny space you get squeezed into is a little annoying. But was a tasty meal nonetheless
Delicious breakfast! The waffle sandwich and elixir juice are amazing! Friendly staff, beautiful place! A must in NYC! Gracias!!!
Possibly the greatest service in New York City. The team flow like a dance, collaborating without ego to deliver near perfection. Best of all it s done gracefully without pretension nor perhaps even an awareness of the sheer skill displayed. If you want to see team work then here it is.
The food is fresh and delightful, looking beautiful and tasting as good.
It s s must to try this place
Lovely place, wonderful to sit outside in the summertime. The food is simple yet delicious. You can get lovely postcards on your way out as well to keep or send to someone to remember the visit! Overall a lovely place for a slow weekend.
My boyfriend and I came here after falling in love with the Paris location. We were amazed to find that the Manhattan location did not disappoint! The decor made us feel like we were back in France and the service was authentic.
It s a new menu every few days, but you really can t go wrong. Everything is absolutely delicious!
Loved the chocolate mousse! Went here for dessert and drinks and it was wonderful. The food also smelled amazing but I had already eaten.
My favorite west village eating place! No reservations so plan accordingly. Eating in the outdoor space is real special. Good selection of wine, but try a mixed drink, they are very good and a little different. A couple small plates with a friend is a guaranteed memory maker.
Beautiful outside seating. Delicious food but it s definitely understaffed. The servers who are very nice can t keep up with all the tables even though they are working very hard. Also I haven t seen such a high surcharge for Covid anywhere else before.
Excellent food and drink, attentive service without any pretence. The mussels in white wine sauce is delicious, as is the salad Nicoise. Good music, too
Good food and friendly service however nothing extraordinary and really quite over priced for what you actually get. Wouldn't bother visiting again.
This is a very good place for brunch! It will be crowded and you will need to wait, but we were lucky to get a seat at the bar immediately. Belgian waffle tasted like heaven!
Intimate, delicious casual French cuisine. No reservations which can at times work in your favor.
Super packed when I went there on a Saturday morning and the food was just ok
Buvette has some hits on their menu like the Croque Forestier (bread, mushrooms and melted cheese) but the other dishes were a complete miss. The space itself is very much cramped and claustrophobic at times and wait is extremely long. Prices are on the high end for small plates and portions. Go for the experience once, but know that there are better options nearby for lunch.
Worth the wait. For sure
Loved it
A bit pricy but a must if you are in town
The best tartinette (your French bruschetta) I've ever had. Have to try them
Great sit down for coffee, breakfast , or brunch. Come with a group, one friend, or enjoy solo! You can t go wrong with a cafe au lait and almond croissant. Their French toast is out of this world!! Go early to avoid a wait since they do not do reservations
Awesome place for breakfast & dinner! super special dinner taste adventure with great wines and fantastic service! We recommend the coq au vin and sqash tajine. You have to try the chocolate mousse!
Perfect evening.
Quaint restaurant, well appointed to give a distinctly French feel. Small tables with small plates help the ambience, but I didn t find them to be very practical. Servings are also quite small and designed to be shared - doesn t help when you are sitting on a tiny table. Service was top notch and food was great. I especially liked the mussels and coq au vin dishes. I would go back again.
Classic French fare in a cozy setting. Great weekend brunch.
The brunch is amazing. Waiting line is a little long in weekends rush hour.
Happy hour: nice wines, $1 oysters, excellent company at the bar.
Great lunch!
Sit at the bar, enjoy some wine and a great croque monsieur! Eveytime we are in NYC, we don t forget to stop by for some good food!
It s small, you may have to wait....but it s worth it.
Great food! Even sweet items perfectly balance flavour - not too sugary. Beautiful decor and buzzing vibe. Sizing is ample (small by US standards). Long queues (Sunday 10.15am over 40mins), appeared to allocate seats to groups of 3+ over 2s.
