A remarkable institution, fusing recognition of the cultural contributions of White men making Craft Beer, Queer folk making Rock n Roll, and Black Women making waffles all for the intoxicated citizens of Syracuse, with a curtain keeping food and music separate affairs.

We were really excited to try this place so, I'm really sad to say our experience was not great. We went in and it was fairly busy. We sat at a table near the front entrance and placed our orders through our phones in the website. It took about 10 minutes for our coffee and 40 minutes for food to come out. I ordered a waffle with scrambled eggs, spinach, and gouda. The waffle was served by itself on a separate plate. The scrambled eggs were served on a bed of raw spinach and an unmelted slice of gouda cheese. Everything was cold except for the waffle. My partner got chicken and waffles. The chicken was small, dry, and overcooked. A sad breakfast.

Honestly? Not that great. The service is very hit or miss (mostly misses) and the food can be great or it can taste really awful. I wouldn't leave a 1-star review unless I thought the place was trying to be bad or evil, and I don't think Funk N Waffles is doing that. But I cannot recommend them,.

La Kueva is a very small restaurant with only 6 tables. We were welcomed right away with a very friendly smile from the woman working there; she might be the owner. We were waiting for our friends to arrived and she served us a nice little cup of soup. La Kueva (the Cave) is a nice little gem on Hertel, worth visiting.

Food is ok, not the cleanest place to eat. Menu has some interesting combinations but often i get 1/2 order because while it tastes ok it's just not something you can usually eat a lot of at once.

Trendy place. Food was great needed to be a bigger portion. I also was expecting the waffles to be a bit softer. It is a little loud which I didn't mind, this is located in a college city. Willing to come again!

This place has forgotten things and messed up orders so many times and for some reason kept giving them a chance. This was the last time. They gave us spoiled rancid sour cream that was extremely off-putting. When grub hub called to request a refund just for the meal they served the spoiled side they denied it. Grossed out and done with this place.

I am not one to give a negative review but if your specialty is waffles and you serve someone a burnt waffle let alone on 3 separate occasions you just should be ashamed of yourself because that is grimey. As the waffle "chef" you should know how long it takes for a waffle to cook. Similarly, you should not serve someone overcooked chicken. Also, you should check the food to make sure it is of good standard before serving to a customer, I.e. not serving white and yellow strawberries (I get we live in New York and they are not in season, but somewhere they are, maybe another restaurant)! I have had great food here seven out of the 10 times I've come, but this last experience was just unacceptable. You have lost my business, and I will no longer recommend to others.

Wow. Wow. Wow. If you like breakfast anytime of the day, zany flavor combos and funk music this is a place for you. An extremely hip vibe and design plus the addition of incredible food make Funk 'n Waffles a must-visit location for anyone visiting Syracuse. I appreciate that they cater to the indecisive flavor chaser like myself. Most waffles have the options of 1/2 orders and some even have 1/4 portion sizes. Let loose and get funky with these incredible waffles.

Stopped here for breakfast. Remembered the Triple D episode after we arrived and I ordered a half Chicken & Waffles and the Jive Turkey. They didn't disappoint. Was busy shortly after we got there and couldn't get a refill on coffee. But still worth the stop.

Pretty awesome place with lots of character and great environment. The art on the walls and graffiti in the bathrooms are a nice touch. The food was delicious and they have a great selection of both food, sweet waffles, savory waffles, smoothies, milkshakes, espresso, and coffee drinks. The waffles were good but I'm real particular about waffles as I have my own secret recipe that I make at home. These were a bit dense compared to what I prefer but still tasty none the less. The basic drip coffee and iced tea were both very good. The James brownie basically gave my kid a diabetic coma.

Expensive, fooof bland and fountain drinks were flavorless. I really wanted to like it unfortunately it was an embarrassing disappointment since i was the one who suggested it for a fun family dinner.

Very good waffles! When I went there was love music on one side which made seating very limited. Also with the door opening the whole time it was very cold. However great food and nice envoirment.

Great music, great food. I had the breakfast scramble with spinach and sausage with a quarter buckwheat waffle on the side and it didn't disappoint. Fast service, even on Father's Day. There is not a lot of room in there so arrive early.

Less than 10 minutes ago my wife picked up food that we had prdered online and she had to WAIT for it. The food was COLD, the waffles were hard and when i tried to call to fix I got hung up on the first time and no answers the second. Do with this information what you will but Im severely disappointed after spending $50 plus TIP on the food.

The only thing remotely good about this place was the chicken....and it wasn't good enough to even say I would go back. The order was wrong, soft drinks tasted funny and it was just not that good. Totally disappointed.

Went there Sunday around 10 am, place is crowded and there is a line to order food, made it thru the line and ordered, it took almost an hour before our food was ready. It was great but there was no indication that is was going to take so long. We ended up getting baked goods from the bakery next door to hold us over till our order was ready. Over all experience was OK but bring snacks because the unexpected wait time for your food stinks

It was my first time here; the behind-the-counter staff were friendly and patient and explained everything for all of my questions relating to their vegan items. At first, I wasn't sure if they would come to the table or we order upfront. Once we figured that out, I ordered Aunt Miriam's vegan waffle and the falafel waffle, a green mate tea, and the same au lait.

Aunt Miriam's waffle was good yet began to become very rich. The falafel waffle was better, more savory for those who prefer savory. I'm a self-proclaimed falafel connoisseur, so I am unsure if I would want the tahini to be slightly less thick, but the flavor was on point. I will go back again, and I hope they'll consider adding coconut milk to the menu for those who cannot have soy or almond milk. Oh, and vegan chick'un wings! I'm delighted they offer vegan options; in terms of cooking, I did not ask or watch if the vegan items have a dedicated cooking space or cooking items. I would hope that this is the case.

Nevertheless, I like the place, and there are a few other items to try. It is great to see more availability of vegan and plant-based food in the area. I'll learn more on the subsequent visits and post pics. Definitely check them out though.

This place is absolutely crazy and I mean that in the best way possible. You're more than likely to catch a funky groove session when you're getting food here, and if you're coming here strictly for the night life, you made a great choice.

Delicious food! Vegan options. Easy to find. Great music, but that does cost money to get into the music part. Great spot to chill and have some drinks. They have a menu of what bands play when which is awesome. Friendly staff.
