One of the best places in Armory. Large waffle-oriented menu, Recess coffee, solid bar, good service, and arguably the best live music venue in town. Always had a great experience.

For all the hype....not very good. Ordered an egg sandwich that was $7.00 and got a eggs, with what tasted like microwave bacon and cheese, on a smushed hamburger bun. Not worth the price. Not worth the hype.

I've visited Funk' Waffles a few times now, and it's only gotten worse. The first visit was okay. The food was decent as well as the coffee and tea. The second visit I actually liked my tea, Purple Haze, but the Mocha Java I order wasn't right.

After this third time, I went with a safe Mocha Latte and another Mocha Java. Not sure how they can make a mocha taste so horrible, but they did. If you're looking here for a meal and drink in the afternoon/evening, try somewhere else.

Lived up to the hype, but the waffles were really expensive. The chicken-n-waffles were excellent, exceeded expectations.

Great little place downtown. Food was above average, nice atmosphere and ambience.

I've always liked it here and I like taking my daughter here for breakfast. This time I was pretty disappointed with their lack of attention to detail. I ordered an almond milk latte, but he typed in whole milk.. I had to ask for it to be remade. Then I ordered a quarter banana waffle with my eggs but I got a plain one. Next, my daughter ordered a James brownie with no ice cream, but strawberries bananas and peanut butter instead. They put ice cream on it, realized their mistake and took the ice cream off putting the fruit on,but no peanut butter. The waffle was soggy after having the ice cream on it. They should've remade it. We don't do dairy often because of our stomachs sensitivity so these seemingly minor things are important. The tables were sticky. It was just all the little things that added up.

I am a dedicated Triple D and Triple G watcher and love seeing these guys on both shows.
The waffle with the chicken and waffles was amazing....they know how to make a waffle.

However, it must have been an off day when we went. Fried chicken was over done and the gravy was sooo salty.

However, I loved the vibe and jukebox. I will try again, when in town...or just order a stack of waffles.

If there's a person that doesn't love this place, the atmosphere and especially the food, they're not human.

Always have outstanding food! The prices are decent for the amount of food you receive. They have very eclectic choices on the menu, but the Chicken and Waffles as well as the Jive Turkey are items that must be tried! You won't be disappointed with anything that you order.

Great food and nice art work. But the chicken still had feathers on it. Other than that I would come back.

Waffles anyway you like. Had mine with chicken and cheese stuffed for a savory waffle. Thanksgiving waffle is another popular choice as well as pulled pork waffles. Desert waffles and breakfast waffles make this a unique restaurant choice. A variety of beverages including adult are offered.

Saw John Craigie there and the atmosphere was great. My wife had some brownie waffles, which were great also. Nice night in Syracuse.

Love this place!

This deceptively large chicken and waffles joint was super cool. When you walk in, it looks like a small, simple counter service space but once you step up to the counter you're presented with the large eating area on the left.

This area has a bar, a stage and DJ booth. Tables were spread nicely and maple syrup is on every table.

Once your buzzer goes off, you're presented with some substantial plates. The chicken and waffles came with a spicy maple syrup (so good) and comes in half or full. The fresh fruits waffle wasn't too complicated but was well received.

Service was fast and friendly and the space worked really well. Give this one a chance and you won't regret!

This place is the bomb! Awesome food, great vibe,shiny, happy staff, nice bar and by far the best live music venue in the area. Get down and eat up!

Crazy menu just like me !! Waffles that taste like Thanksgiving meal..with gravy and all (including cranberry sauce)... something to try once, I'd say, if you're courageous to think outside the box! The place is very cool, the staff very friendly! The price was average. Very long wait due to Parents week (college kids), but all was fine. One and done!

A unique take on waffle cuisine, and a great place for live music. Also serves Gimme! Coffee, and they have a full service bar with a great selection of craft beers.

Amazing food and a great environment. There's a huge selection of waffle inspired options and the chicken and waffles is the best I've ever had.

Overpriced. We re told the wait was short but had to wait 20+ minutes. The order system is weird, you have to order on your phone and then walk up and get it. Very strange and overpriced.

Funk and Waffles allowed us to throw a spectacular (social distancing) birthday party in Georgia for our foodie friends . We saw Adam on DDD, called the restaurant and learned about how we could ship 3 different types of amazing waffle dishes to our house. Adam and his team came through like champs by shipping plenty of food for 4 people, that created a fun themed party with food that was really easy to prepare and most importantly tasted amazing. Thank you Adam and team for letting us bring a little funk to Georgia. Highly recommend especially if you want to have a something different to share and talk about.

Awesome atmosphere & food. Got the chicken and waffles with their house sauce, and it was delicious. Super friendly people as well.

Not only was this SO DELICIOUS but we had no wait time and the cashier was so sweet and friendly. Great pricing, great food, great customer service. It was my first time trying chicken n waffles and it was incredible. 5 stars all around!

Pedestrian food, grimy place. Didn't go when they had live music which is allegedly good.

I paid $50 for two half waffles, an order of disco tenders, and disco fries. It took two hours for our food to be delivered; it was not correct when it arrived. They did remake the food, but we were delivered two half waffles, disco fries, and plain waffle fries. I could ve walked to the restaurant, ordered food, and walked back to my location in half the time it actually took. We were playing a board game at Middle Ages and thus wanted our food delivered. With all the choices in Syracuse, getting 2 old half waffles two hours later, I m less than excited about my patronization. Hopefully they streamline their delivery because this was a waste of $50 in my opinion. I love their service on site, but outside of their establishment I would not recommend delivery services. Management refused to take ownership, very disappointed, not worth it.

Cool kick ice coffee mint shake was great. Also had jive turkey waffle and wife had iron lion Zion waffle . Both were very good. Staff is extremely friendly, atmosphere is fun, this is a great place to visit. Definitely coming back!

Excellent place for jazz and blues music they have some of the best players in the city here and moderately priced drinks and no cover charge.

The food is awesome, and the wait is never very long

Great staff, and a great venue. However, their waffles have become a little less than what I've come to expect, especially when it comes to the more savory waffles. That being said, their standard waffle, with fried chicken, is amazing, and fills you up.

Love funk n waffles. I don't go downtown very often but when I do I usually make sure to stop by and get some chicken n waffles. Enough options to never run out of things to try!

Great food. Fun vibe. We had to take it to go because of covid, but we love to come back and eat in the restaurant sometime. Parking can be tough to find. There is a parking lot nearby but it is pretty expensive.

I know this is a waffle place....but I would like to see more vegetarian protein options. Bacon, chicken and more bacon are fine for the meat eaters...maybe a waffle with egg on top? The coffee is good. The staff is great. Outgoing and friendly. Music is good. Fun alternative place to grab a bite. And comfortable to linger.

Great food. The chicken n' waffles were great. Must try the Nutella Latte. So nice and chocolatey! 1 star less out of 5 because the ambience could improve in the second dining area.

Quality has dropped off, employees are rude. My jive turkey had one little slice of turkey and the waffle was tasteless and undercooked. When we went to leave we were scolded for not cleaning up our silverware. So then what was the $2 suggested tip each of us paid? Certainly wasn't for your service. Liked it better when it was still in the basement.

This restaurant is split, bar/stage on one side, waffles and tables on the other. I have had a great experiences on the waffle side, very delicious. The bar side, was a different story. After waiting for about 5 minutes to order drinks, the bar tender finally helped the gentleman in front of me. Then when it was my turn, he told me drinks cannot be ordered there after he just helped the guy in front of me. He made me go to the other side of the bar and wait behind more people. I decided to leave after that and get drinks elsewhere. Great for waffles, not drinks.

I havent been able to look at waffles the same after this. The sweet side of the menu is tempting and they dont stop with a regular "waffle with fruits on top" arrangement. I ventured to the savory side because ive only ever had chicken with mine, so i tried the florentine with salmon which was something else!

Yes i went because of triple D but looking at the rest of the menu alone i see why they featured it. I wish there was something like this close to my home in Atlanta, this would even make a repeat cheat day destination, and i would keep coming back

Awesome selection of sweet and savory waffles. There seems to be a waffle for everyone. They have waffles made out of a couple of different bases. The brownie waffle was delicious as expected. Smoothie was not full of ice chunks and had great flavor. The attached bar seemed like a good venue to catch a band.

Placed a to go order for a jive turkey and the waffle was burnt and not the stuffing waffle either. And iy wasnt that busy in there either. Wont be going back.

The food and atmosphere are great. However the service is lacking, we've been twice now and everyone working there seems as if they have no interest in being helpful or friendly. Too-cool-for-school vibes

This is the best place for waffles and music! Or just waffles! Or just music!

Was looking forward to the meal, but everything was pretty lacklustre. The waffles were a bit burnt, very dry, and had little flavour. The chicken tasted good, but was dry and overcooked as well. Home fries tasted decent, but were cold. The bathrooms were also disgusting. Overall, very disappointed and would not come again.

Very retro vintage place. Great staff. And waffles to die for!! Try it out can't go wrong! They also have bands and other things that go on there.

The food was great for the price and less of selection, but have had better waffles! Service was poor, they gave the drinks but forgot the waffles somehow. After a long wait we asked about food and they had no idea. Even then order was not prioritized.

It was an exciting experience. It is a great place to have breakfast anytime of the day coupled with The Funk of Ages. I really enjoyed the music. My daughter did as well at her age of 14. It was great.

Great tasting fast food menu. Lack of signage explaining how to order in front of store. Staff reluctantly explained. Even for pickup restaurant cluttered and uninviting inside. I don't mind only takeout but it can and should still be an experience I am willing to pay for. Breakfast good, 2nd visit that's a ?????

The best waffles I've had ever!... Staff is friendly... Awesome spot... Parking is a pain but the waffles are worth it... I highly recommend them... You won't regret it...

Some of the waffles are just ordinary, like you could make them at home, but loved the brie and bacon waffle. Staff is friendly and this is an easy place to bring kids. We still talk about the perfect cappuccino that one of the servers made us; wouldn't be surprised if she had been trained as a barista!

They have a huge selection of waffles, both sweet and savory, all of them delicious. Great place for any meal of the day.

Great place, great cocktails.

The biggest problem for vegetarians is that some of the items look vegetarian at a glance, but have fish on their fourth ingredient. It should really stand out more, meats and fish should be front and center on the list of ingredients.

Their vegan options are a tad lacking consisting of a really really dry falafel waffle and a tofu sandwich. You can sometimes get a really good, Tofu scramble, with spinach, vegan cheese, tomato oil and vegan sausage, but it's not a menu item and you will get dirty looks for specifying every detail. IT REALLY SHOULD BE A MENU ITEM.

One of my favorite restaurants in syracuse for any time of day. Quirky and unexpectedly delicious meals, and great concerts and events at night.
