Permanent collection very accessible to all audiences, ideal size not to overwhelm. The very interesting temporary collections always, the perfectly assembled Bulgari, falls a little short for jewelry lovers, you are left wanting more.

It's my favorite museum, without a doubt. My only pain is that it is not free for students. 9 euros may seem little, but it's what I have to eat one day, and I should not have to choose between buying a salad and a coffee or going to the Thyssen.

I really enjoyed my experience here. They are very friendly here and allow you to photograph everything which I love. They have a temporary exhibition here until June 2019 where there are many religious Christian artworks by some of the top masters including Rubens and Caravaggio. My favorite are Rubens paintings. Some of these paintings give you tingles of energy and beauty watching them. The first floor and a part of the second have modern art and the higher floors have the classical and Baroque paintings and some sculptures as I have seen what I believe is a Rodin there. Highly recommend this place.

I just loved this museum in Madrid, even though I was there one Monday when it was open only from 12 to 16(free of charge on Mondays), no wonder that for many years I wanted to visit this Thyssen Bornemisza museum. (Unfortunately I had a flight back home at Monday night to Romania, so I could not visit the whole museum only the second floor).
When I was planning I didn't know why I need to visit here, now I know why. This place definitely became one of my favourites museums in Spain and will come back in March with a small groups of customers, and can't wait to see the Renaissance art again where I spent at least 2-3 hours.
I felt like I don't need anything else, just art.
Who thought that Baron Heinrich Thyssen Bornemisza started to collect Old Masters for his villa in Switzerland in 1920 , and his son continued and this place will be once the World second biggest private collection according to my guide book. If I read it right now this museum belongs to government who bought this place.
I highly recommend this place, and please take your time if you come here. These paintings will fulfill your heart.

It was great to see the paintings of famous artists like Picasso, Labyrinth, Lotrec, Roscoe, Pollock, Mondrian, and Van Gogh. Although there are various paintings by artists, the number of paintings by artists is as small as 2-4. The collection is huge, but I think it's for the purpose of introducing even a few pieces by each artist. It was good to be able to take a picture freely without noticing it.

There you can find works ranging from the 1300s to the second half of the 1900s. Ample space for impressionism and post-impressionism, I particularly appreciated the various Van Goghs, Degas and Manets and the whole section dedicated to the Italian painters of 500-600 and 700: Antonello da Messina, Ghirlandaio, Carpaccio, Tiziano, Canaletto. For the admirers of North American painting of the last century and of pop art: Pollock, bacon and Hopper.

I go very often to see their magnificent temporary exhibitions and never disappoint.
Both the permanent exhibition that is great, as the mansion, the location and even the magnificent store, make the Thyssen a must.

Fantastic building with interesting collections. The permanent exhibition is good, but the temporary ones are nicer, as they are usually very modern. It's very close to the Prado Museum, so if you're tired of the modern works, it's only a 5 minute walk to discover the more classic paintings.

Thyssen is a great museum, or rather, its gallery is not comparable in size to the Prado Museum, but if you want an introductory book about modern art, come to this place. Here are some of the works of all the most well-known artists of the 19th and 20th centuries, collected by Baron Thyssen and his wife. However, for those who like early vintage works, there are many that can be enjoyed. The art of the Middle Ages and the Renaissance is well presented here. ...

It is distributed in a chaotic way and the collection is getting worse every day.
It is saved by the Balenciaga exhibition and the Spanish painting that was spectacular if it would not put 2 stars.

About Fundación Colección Thyssen-Bornemisza

Fundación Colección Thyssen-Bornemisza: A Museum of Art and Culture

The Fundación Colección Thyssen-Bornemisza is a museum located in Madrid, Spain. It is one of the most important art museums in the world, with a collection that spans from the 13th century to contemporary art. The museum was founded by Baron Hans Heinrich Thyssen-Bornemisza and his wife Carmen Cervera in 1988.

The museum's collection includes over 1,000 works of art, including paintings, sculptures, and decorative arts. The collection is divided into seven different sections: Early Italian Painting; German Renaissance and Baroque Painting; Dutch Painting; Flemish Painting; English Painting; French Painting; and American Art.

One of the highlights of the museum's collection is its impressive display of Impressionist paintings. The museum has an extensive collection of works by artists such as Claude Monet, Pierre-Auguste Renoir, Edgar Degas, and Vincent van Gogh.

In addition to its permanent collection, the Fundación Colección Thyssen-Bornemisza also hosts temporary exhibitions throughout the year. These exhibitions showcase works from other museums around the world or focus on specific themes or artists.

The Fundación Colección Thyssen-Bornemisza is located on Paseo del Prado in Madrid. This area is known as "Paseo del Arte" because it houses three major museums: El Museo Nacional del Prado (the National Museum), El Centro de Arte Reina Sofía (the Reina Sofia Art Center), and El Museo Nacional Thyssen-Bornemisza (the National Museum).

Visitors can purchase tickets online or at the museum's ticket office. Guided tours are available for groups or individuals who want to learn more about specific aspects of the museum's collections.
