Museum full of paintings, organized in historical order, from the Middle Ages to the early twentieth century. The audio guides help a lot to appreciate the elements that distinguish the different phases of European artistic evolution. Unfortunately the commentary on the audio guides covers little, about 5% of the exhibited works. However, it takes 4-5 hours to fully enjoy the museum tour.

I really liked the virtual visit to the three paintings "the wheat field" of Van Ghoh. "The Chinese glass of Linnard.and the painting of Mondrian. The latter is the one that I liked least because the other two are impressive. I found it a little short the time, I would have liked to enjoy more time of the experience inside the paintings.

Fantastic, incredible, well connected, great day and rewarding.
Thanks Alberto for guiding us on the route.
The visit was short, I will repeat I loved it, they did not let me take pictures.

Very good museum with a very good permanent collection and a temporary one. The staff dispenses a very good treatment to the public. The only problem is that with so much influx it is possible not to enter at the time you want. Normal in a museum so good. The facilities are very good, excellent bathrooms and everything adapted.

It is extraordinary and in some respects it is the best museum in Madrid. It is the only museum where it is possible to photograph and where the audio guide (above all the general explanation of the room) is extremely precise and interesting. There are two collections on display: one permanent and one addition, by Carmen Thyssen-Bornemisza (the latter without audio explanations!). It covers a vast artistic panorama, perhaps among the best ever for the nineteenth and twentieth centuries and not only European (well represented America). Two large spaces are intended for temporary exhibitions.

This is a very impressive display of art and power, or the influence of money on public's taste.
The Balthus retrospective is beautiful, and they are very clever with the merchandise objects for sale at a shop made by the end of it. The collection itself is huge, and has practically everything which has been for sale on private market and costs a lot of money, so it is mostly impressive. The curation is making the outmost efforts to make sense out of the frantic shopping of the owners.
Worth a visit, the shop too.

One of the must-see museums in Madrid.
Inside you can also find a tourist restaurant.
It is also possible to buy a single ticket to visit the 3 most important museums in Madrid (Reina Sofia, Prado and Thyssen) for around 30 per person. Tickets can be purchased both online and directly at one of the 3 museums.

Comfortable and very modern. The staff was very friendly. We attended #VersionaThyssen and the deployment was huge. A lot of staff and pending of the assistants at all times.
At the end of the contest there was a concert by the La Plata group.

Extensive background, gives for a couple of hours. Better to plan exactly what you want to see in advance and plan the visit according to its distribution. You can leave saturated if you want to see everything in one morning.

It is worthwhile if you visit not only the permanent but also the temporary exhibition (currently Picasso and Lautrec). In addition, the Paseo del Arte ticket with skipjack is useful if there are no minors (who enter for free except at Thyssen, but still have to pick up a ticket and then queue). The second queue is for the security scanner.

Fabulous museum with a very well done permanent exhibit. Periodic special exhibitions. We saw the Picasso- Lautrec comparative. Well laid out and presented. Exceptional printed and audio guides. Plan on 2 - 3 hours for the complete permanent exhibits. Friendly helpful staff.

In addition to being an essential museum for the city, the art collection it houses is undoubtedly one of the most important in the world. Especially rich and varied, it is ideal for the student who needs to take a walk through the history of art without missing any cultural movement.
The paste: it is also one of the most expensive museums in Madrid. Despite being ideal for students, the reduced entry for them is 7.

It is the other museum landmark not to be missed for any reason once you arrive in Madrid. It is a picture gallery with authentic masterpieces that embrace the history of world art from the Middle Ages to the contemporary age. Take time and see it all. There are convenient services inside that allow you to spend the whole day there. Don't miss the temporary collections either. Five stars!

7 centuries of painting in a single building. As an orientation, on the 2nd floor we go back 7 centuries, but if you want to start with the most recent painting, as soon as you pass the control of your access ticket, turn left and you can do the exposure in reverse order

Naturally, you can not see everything at once if you do not have to go in parts. Only for the temporary exhibition of Balthus we were almost an hour and a half.

The exhibition of the impressionists and the photography is saved by the museum's funds, a wonder to always see Sisley, Monet, Manet ... Etc. with the excuse, but there was not an explanation about the influence of photography in This movement was simply grouped by theme with the photographs in relation to the side. I imagine that the audio guide would have contributed that information. Very weak has been the commissioner, some explanatory panel should have put, in my opinion clear.

Museum with large collection of paintings without being excessively large to visit. It has permanent and temporary exhibitions. In all its exhibitions you can get audio guide and also souvenir shops corresponding to the art of the room.
The Museum offers the public a tour of art from the thirteenth century until the end of the twentieth century. You can contemplate the main periods and pictorial schools of Western art such as the Renaissance, Mannerism, Baroque, Rococo, Romanticism and art of the nineteenth and twentieth centuries until reaching Pop Art.
Also during the summer from July to September you can enjoy the weather on a pleasant terrace outside the museum.

Fantastic space for those in love with art, not only the classic art. Thanks to the museum I discovered a great photorealist. A must-see on the map of Madrid. The best combination with neighboring Prado :)

Among the most beautiful I've ever visited. A truly unusual concentration of masterpieces, especially from the early 1900s. The rooms of the Countess Tyssen's collection are exceptional, identified by letters rather than numbers, a series of paintings by American painters who have never been seen in such large numbers. However, a museum that has nothing to envy to others in Madrid and I would say to other major European.

A museum pass! We have taken a complete tour through all the pictorial styles (four hours we have invested) and I have been very moved by the impressionists. It is well worth the visit.

I live in Madrid, and for me this is the best museum in the city. I've become a "Friend" of the Museum, so I can pop in for an hour or so whenever I like and take another person with me. It's not cheap- 100 a year- but that admits two, including the special exhibitions, and you don't have to queue. I reckon I've got my money's worth... Don't miss it- there's something for everyone, from the Middle Ages to modern times.
