I m attending this school in the fall and will be in the Digital art and design program...and from what I can see in the reviews, you HAVE to be responsible for your education. Don t expect the teachers to spoon feed you. This school does accelerated scholarships, think of it as being in an AP class for 2 years. Each unit will be a few weeks long in order to teach you the fastest way possible and to get you graduated and into a job 2 years earlier than a regular university.
College is expensive, do not but expect FAFSA, grants and student loans to pay for your entire education. Debt is inevitable!
You ll get out what you put in. If you put in hard work and dedication you ll have a good experience...if you expect this to be like Highschool, don t study and expect teachers to spoon feed you, you ll have a terrible experience.

Only go to Full Sail if:

Only go to Full Sail if:
You like jumping through hoops.
You want to be $80,000 in debt
You want to feel less like a human and more like a number.
You enjoy being depressed.

The faculty doesn't actually care who you are. In your first few months they contact you and show interest in you until you get settled in then, you'll most likely never hear from them again unless they need money from you or they want you out of Full Sail. Most of the teachers at Full Sail were recent Full Sail grads and don't actually have any experience in the industry its basically just students teaching students. Everyone I have talked to about Full Sail that also go to Full Sail will tell you the same, to stay away and that it is not worth it unless you go into Film or Show Pro.

I am feeling horrible after always wanting to come to this college. After I research them for a few months I found out that they waste your time, scam you, and are a bad school. The education is great, but the tuition is high. When you graduate from Full Sail they don't show up on your resemae. You can't even get real jobs with you education there. I DON'T RECOMMEND FULL SAIL UNIVERSITY.

I don t know what to say about this school only this... This school sucks. Classes are trash. Teachers are buns that work from home. What more can you expect from this place when it has a bunch of negative reviews also they won t care about the reviews because they are still gonna make their money from innocent people. Do yourself a favor and do t go to a for profit university such as this one.

I don't know why many people are saying it's stressful and heavy workload. Honestly? It's not so hard and I usually get all my work within a few days instead of the week we're given to do assignments. I'm studying a BSc there and I'm breezing through it. Even though I ended up having surgeries I completed work in 2 weeks, that was meant to be a month instead while retaining 80% or higher. Granted, I'm studying online, and not at the campus.
The quality of education is pretty good. Most of the stuff I know already, when it comes to music theory, music production and music related things. What I really like is the other subjects, which truly give me new understandIngs on things. Science? Maths? English? Awesome. I'd recommend this school to people who want to learn a variety of things, and want to improve themselves to a point where they can walk out and say, I'm better than I was when I started.

Big thumbs up to fullsail. I have a mate who's studying at the actual campus, and he's loving the life there, really getting into it and he's made some awesome friends, and had some good times, or so he tells me.

Can't really say anything bad about it right now at all.

I'm a current student and about to complete my "fr...

I'm a current student and about to complete my "freshman" year. I only quote that because it's an accelerated course and each year is 8 intense months. This is not a bad thing because you graduate faster, but it's definitely intense.
I have previous experience in some of the main programs that we learn in the Computer Animation program and I decided to attend because I want the degree, but more importantly, I wanted the formal education in these programs as opposed to how I've been self- taught thus far in these programs.
I feel that I've made the right choice so far as I've learned some industry specifics that I didn't know before and it was a transition for me to stop what I was previously doing and re-learn in a new way, but my work has definitely shown improvement so far.
The staff is friendly when I call and even though the person I'm looking to reach is usually not available at the time, they're always quick to reply, either the same day or at most the next day.
Most of my instructors so far have been very helpful in replies. These communications are mainly done through email and I really don't understand why they don't just use the FSO platform messaging?
We have access to google hangouts and I'm there constantly, especially when I need help with an assignment. The lab instructors are EXTREMELY helpful as well as other students that have more experience that tend to help as well, ( me being one of them here and there based on my knowledge of Maya) I may not know everything, but I like to help when I can and that's one of the great things about the hangouts, when there's no lab assistant, there are other students who help each other out which makes for a great community.
I'm actually enjoying my education so much that I'm actually moving down to Florida to switch to attending on campus soon.
The only reason I didn't give Full Sail 5 starts is because it IS expensive. If it weren't for that, I would have given it 5 starts.
Be warned however, when they tell you it's a full time school, they mean it. I put in 40 hours a week easily doing my classwork, reading and watching provided materials and doing research when applicable. You need to put in the work and time to get good results. This is NOT a weekend warrior school.

A SCAM

A SCAM

After a destructive 18 month intensive education. Your child will leave with 100 grand in debt, a sleeping disorder and some kind of addiction.
With some mandatory classes at 2am, they will pack over a 100 students in a single class at times with less than month to learn a single class.
The staff range from incompetent to psychotic, Flipping out on students and are required to enforce draconian rules for the most minor grievances.
This school is nothing more than a scam that congress needs to shut down.

Full Sail is one of the best decisions of my life....

Full Sail is one of the best decisions of my life. I was miserable going to a traditional 4 year college. Then when I had a really hard family situation, I left that University for a year with plans to go back to college the following year. 3 or 4 months before my year off was done, I realized I wasn t going back. I couldn t bring myself to because I just wasn t happy there. Rarely did I have any connection with a professor. I just couldn t relate to them. I also realized the degrees I tried to do there were things that I COULD do but didn t WANT to do as my career in life. Full Sail offered me a chance to try and learn the skills to be involved with something I love. Without Full Sail I may not have gone back to college. The reviews I ve seen that say no one at Full Sail cares about the students are just not true. I ve had great experiences with professors and staff. Now for the reviews that say Full Sail is an easy A. There are classes that can be very easy for some people and then there are classes that can be pretty darn hard, not everyone comes out of every class with an A, but that s ok. You do your best and that s all anyone can do. Then there s Full Sail didn t help me find a job like they said they would . So Full Sail does have Career Support, but that doesn t mean they make a resume of you and start applying for jobs for you (the will assist in the professionalism of your resume). That s not logic. You get the degree and it is up to you to apply for jobs. Complaining about how long it s been since graduation and still no job? The entertainment industry can be very hard to get into, but it s not impossible. Do I know of people who got in right out of college? Yes I do. Not everyone can get that lucky, so don t go out expecting a job to be handed to you. Finally as someone who s parents were so against the idea of Full Sail, i say to the kids, stand your ground. Do it respectfully, but if you feel like Full Sail is where you belong then don t let ANYONE talk you out of it. To the parents, my parents hate my video games and hated that I wanted to go into the video game industry. Not all parents are skeptical of the entertainment industry, but if you are and your child is wanting major in something for the entertainment industry, please try to be understanding about it. Realize that your children love and respect you, but this also our lives and we have do what makes us happy. One can have a bright future in entertainment. I ll always be thankful for Full Sail University. Good luck to everyone who will be or has joined Full sail!

I am a veteran and current student in the SMMBS program here at Full Sail. My instructors thus far have been great! Those three stars are for you! I have not one ill word to say in that regard. However, the communication outside of my instructors is atrocious. When I was first interested in attending this university, I would be called multiple(3-4) times a day, but now I can't get a return call. As a student, I have to escalate every problem to the "student resolution" team and pray that a department manager wants to do their job that day. As a veteran, I'm fortunate enough to attend via Chapter 33 benefits. The VA pays the college directly, on time every time. However, after a year of attending, the VA team neglected to certify my attendance leading to a lapse in my basic housing allowance and essentially messing with my money. Unacceptable Full Sail, hence the review. The school attempts to teach students about our online presence, but I'm vigorously debating if ANYONE who works at this place comes to read these reviews. Leading by example, speaks louder than any words spoken. Do better, your future demands it!

I am so blessed to have gone to the greatest Film School available, the hands on training truly was crucial for my success, I have worked in the industry in Florida, New York, Louisiana, Texas, California and now in Hawaii! The schedule was perfect for I have a learning difference, I am dyslexic and truly grateful for my education. The professors (Course Directors) were attentive and helpful through the entire experience. Yes, it is expensive but the financial aid professionals walked me through the process with ease. As with everything, you get out what you put into your experience.

While I was in school there was a big UZI robbery several times a month in the parking lot supposedly. Knowledge was great. Social Life consisted of zero interaction with others, as if this place was genetically possessed and the business program provides zero job opportunities, it is completely based on entrepreneurial tactics. Good learning, but campus classes are long and drawn out, they say it is standard but normal schools only have 35 hours of mandatory class time, this school demands 60 hours of class time despite its accelerated scheduling.

Sub-par online animation education. If you want to study a subject, a month won't be enough to gain a firm grasp. At best, this school introduces you to ideas, guides you through great examples, and expects you to do the rest (with the remainder of your free software trials). After each class month is up, you 7/10 times won't use the skills you were previously introduced to in future classes. I made no industry connections, or even friends. If you want to get into animation, this isn't the way to go friend. Wish I could get all my time and money back and just take some focused Lynda classes. I understand how much personal time and energy goes into being successful, but for the price I pay every month, I wish I would have been steeped in studies, and not just introduced to never dive deeper. All of my classmates, excluding the ones who were already plugged into the industry, are still at their day jobs three years later. Would not recommend, unfortunately. Wish I could. I did enjoy my time, but the debt is crushing.

I would honestly give this school zero stars if I could. I was first lied to by admissions as to what exactly my chosen degree offered, and now that I've graduated, I suddenly have a balance pop up that they claim is from my second academic year. This is AFTER I was told that I don't have a tuition balance! Every time I call, all they do is run me around in circles and I'm honestly sorry I stuck with this school the entire time. Do not go here. They will be hearing from my lawyer.

Wow I have a lot of great things to say regardless of what other people have said. This university gives students plenty of opportunities, exposure to modern production equipment & technology, seminars and guest speakers.

Like anything in life you, you need to make a deposit in order to make a withdraw. To get the most out of your money, you should do the following when attending Full Sail University.

1. I reccomend the extended program, accelerated gets chaotic with monthly courses, lack of time to network and its doesn't allow you to take advantage of all the on campus events

2. Submerge yourself in the community and campus programs.

3. GPS points!!! Collecting GPS points get you access to green room events with alumni's and well known talents. ( I was able to meet and Bruce Swedien, Darren Lynn Bousman and attend other private events on available to the top GPS earners)

4. If you're studying film, audio or design go join SPARK, the student agency. GREAT TO BUILD NETWORK!!

5. Join PURE MOTIVATION! Give back!

6. Ask questions and commit to getting the most out of your time there!

I am doing well with these courses. The experience has been great so far and the staff and peers are friendly. People complaining about a waste of money are like boxers complaining about a black eye. You stepped into the ring and took a shot. Ultimately, it was your choice to start a career development at this school and not any other. Also, it's the whole packaged experience you pay for. You can learn on your own or join another Uni, but so far being a part of this culture has been fulfilling.

I graduated from the Computer Animation degree her...

I graduated from the Computer Animation degree here in 2011. The teachers and friends I had were all great, and this truly was a fun experience. The school itself is beautiful, secure and open 24/7. However... It is incredibly expensive. Any degree here is absolutely not worth it because of the cost alone. And if you don't live in the area, you have to rent an apartment. How are you going to pay for it? You can't work because you're at school at least 8 hours a day with hours of homework as well (which is to be expected but...why then aren't there dorms?). So, unless you're rich, your options are to never sleep or take out even MORE loans. Long story short, you don't need to spend $100k+ to get a degree you probably will never use, just go somewhere else.

I have been a student at Full Sail University for ...

I have been a student at Full Sail University for a few years, I complete my Bachelor's and my Master's Degree here and I have to say I have been completely disappointed with the school in the past few months. My Bachelor was an amazing expierence, however when it comes to my master's degree I have felt like I am just a cash cow. During the past few months I have had a teacher be extremely rude to me, in the most delittle ways. When I brough up the concerns to my student advisor, they address their disappointment and said they were going to look into it but I really never hear back. Recently over the Spring break I had another teacher assign and make due an assigment during the break, and when I fail to complete it, I brough up the concern that I was out of the state because of spring break and the school basically said oh well teachers can assign assignments at their discretion. This is completely unacceptable given the amount of money we spent to come to this school. I would highly recome for student to look at other option like UCF, because at Full Sail it seems like they only really care about your money and not your education.

Good school at times (online), but very expensive,...

Good school at times (online), but very expensive, and if you get behind on payments or classes its very hard to catch up. I feel this institution put profit/money before education. Now don't get me wrong not every one at this institution is like that, I actually had one adviser really try to help me find funding for school through outside loans, but everyone I spoke with in the Financial Aid office basically had the same mind frame (when it's time to pay up at Full Sail, it's time to Pay up at Full Sail) I actually had someone in the Financial Aid office tell me that. Another issue I had is, the school changed my advisers literally every other month, so I never had the opportunity to create a real relationship with none of my advisers, so every other month I had to reexplain the same situation to a different adviser and they try the same thing the previous adviser did that didn't work until I got a new adviser. All in all it was a great learning experiment, I wouldn't go back unless I had the MONEY/Time and on campus, but don't go off of my experience because it was probably bad timing for me. Also I just transferred out, to a school in my home town for the same degree in which I had to start over, because my credits were not accepted because Full Sail is not regionally accredited

Fullsail Veteran assistance program and VA paperwork services needs readjusting. Our veterans are constantly challenged with maintaining federal clearance obligations that are valuable to our nation , so at times we might have to participate with other components to keep our marketable assets and leave Fullsail for a short period to keep our status active. Also the VA filing documents are electronically sent to the VA so our veterans recipients recieve benefits on timely manner, which means arrive on start date. These 2 matters can easily be adjusted to keep our veterans support services resourceful.

There are a lot of rumors and horror stories about...

There are a lot of rumors and horror stories about Full Sail. They are told by drop-outs and people who never went to the school. They are unreliable and factually inaccurate. Full Sail is a great school.

It has a few downsides, but overall, it was far superior to my experiences at five other (public) colleges, both in education as well as structure. The structure was absolutely perfect. Every school should operate the way Full Sail does in terms of classes and scheduling. The educational quality was good. A small handful of classes are managed poorly by their instructors, a small handful are far superior to any I've ever seen, and the rest are on par with any other university. The type of student that comprises the majority of the student population is kind of annoying (bunch of Tom Haverfords), but the game dev students aren't quite so delusional. My entire graduating class was employed in their chosen field within 3 months of graduation, with the lowest-paid one of them starting out at $50k a year.

To summarize the key differences from your average public college:

* FS: Take 1-2 classes at a time. Public schools: Take 3-6 at a time.
* FS: 2-3 years to graduate with bachelor's. Public schools: 4-5 years to graduate.
* FS: Classes are fast-paced, reach deeper topics, but glaze over some details. Public schools: Classes are painfully slow and watered down.
* FS: Books are issued for free at the start of each class. Public schools: Figure out which book you need, find and buy it before class, and hope it's the right one.
* FS: The class you need is guaranteed to always be running and have room for you. Public schools: Classes you need may or may not be running or full.
* FS: Scheduling is automatic You do nothing but show up. Public schools: You register your own classes and hope you picked the right ones in the right order and with a good professor.
* FS: One campus. Public schools: Usually have campuses all over town.
* FS: Instructors are courteous, patient, and accessible. Public schools: Most professors are aloof.
* FS: Tutors are free. Public schools: Sometimes tutors are free, sometimes they cost money.
* FS: Work-study pays $3.00 more per hour than minimum wage. Public schools: Work-study pays minimum wage.
* FS: Parking is free. Public schools: Parking usually costs in the range of $80 per term.
* FS: Expect to start there and never stop until you finish. Public schools: Can start, stop, and transfer as you wish.
* FS: Curriculum offers depth and expertise in your field. Public schools: Offers a vague understanding of your field if you don't pick the right electives, the right teachers, and do some supplemental learning.
* FS: Even the worst graduate was a half decent programmer. Public schools: Some graduates knew less coding than a month 1 FS student.
* FS: Retake failed classes for free. Public schools: Pay to retake failed classes.
* FS: Retake passed classes for free any time, even after graduation. Public schools: Sometimes it's free, sometimes you pay, and sometimes professors allow you to sit in off-record.
* FS: GPS program (but it's faulty). Public schools: No professionalism standards.
* FS: Surrounded by wannabe producers and grandiose delusions. Public schools: Surrounded by bimbos and wannabe thugs.
* FS: No on-campus housing. Public schools: Usually have on-campus housing.
* FS: Math entrance exam requires college algebra and trigonometry knowledge. Public schools: Math entrance exam accepts as low as pre-algebra.
* FS: Will take anyone who can afford it. Public schools: Possible to be denied admission.

FYI, School may be Good - Excellent but no one can say its safe. Recently a school stabbing in class. Also, a friends son's car was stolen on campus grounds (in their parking lot).

Security, is way below expectations, after my visit to the school as a concerned parent. While speaking with security, I guess they let slip that other car thefts have occurred, but that no changes in security have ever been made.

Students and Parents beware!! check Orlando local news outlets and you'll see why.

UPDATE 10/7/2020: A federal ombudsman reached out to me to help me try to figure out how to stop the school from Pauline my financial aid even though I do not attend this school. When a United States government official from the US education department inspector general office cannot even get a straight answer from full sail University, it s time to lawyer up. The school will not communicate in writing except for robotic messages. It s a sham of an institution and shameful. No one has a direct line at this institution you have to go through people like Senior Enrollment advisor Neal Harvey, who enjoy mistreating students in those interested in attending this school and should be fired.

UPDATE 10/2/2020: They refused to honor any request to withdraw and I ultimately had no choice but to file a US DEPT of EDUCATION OCR COMPLAINT on this institution.

Original: When it comes to communication, full sail appears to have a strong regard of the left hand doesn t know what the right hand is doing. I would call in one day and have to follow up within a couple hours and received conflicting answers for basic tasks such as financial aid and enrollment. I have never dealt with a school that officially used the statement, we have thousands of students how do you even expect us to follow up with any emails.

Apparently they don t care about their student base and I ve never seen a school have such a lack of consideration and even go to the point of stating we don t care that you have written documentation of contacting us you are failing in contacting us regardless of proof. This was all said by senior advisor Who does not belong in a position Of working with the public based on how his responses work.

I ve never seen a school have such a terrible lack of organization.

I didnt even get in the door, their application process for potential members was horrific. They constantly reversed decisions of whether i had done something properly or not. I had missed 3 start dates because they could not set me on the right path of getting processes done. It doesnt matter who i talked to they all used the same stories even when i was fully applicable for the school. Full Sail also does not fully understand outside industries. They seem to believe that Mac computers are industry standard. Overall, I would not recommend this school to my worst enemy.

For starters, this organization isn't regionally a...

For starters, this organization isn't regionally accredited. What this means is they are nothing more than a glamorized trade school. Their credits won't even transfer to any respected university. Go check and see for yourself.

To make things MUCH worse, their prices are absolutely insane. You will pay at least $6-10k PER SEMESTER at this trade school!!! They have all kinds of hidden fees and Stafford loans (that are designed to cover not only tuition for college, but general living expenses as well) will STILL not be enough just to cover your tuition, let alone all the other fees they throw at you on top of it!!!

Oh, and if you owe them money, this is the type of disrespectful organization that commits transcript extortion. Yes, they will demand FULL payment from you and will refuse to provide your official transcripts to any other college until they get every last dime from you beforehand. It's a cutthroat and poor business tactic considering without a degree, how do they think you are going to pay them back? They would rather cut their nose off to spite their face than let you move on from them. Oh, but they will lie through their teeth when trying to get you to enroll, I can assure you of that.

Another thing, when (not if, but when) you have a problem with them, everyone who they will claim can actually help you will inconveniently be unavailable, you will get redirected to voicemails, and you will NEVER receive any return phone calls from those people. However, rest assured that if you ever stop going to them, they make sure to have plenty of staff that IS available to call and solicit you like crazy.

Avoid this trade school like the plague. The majority of the reviews on here were clearly written by the company themselves, as every single person I have talked to about them was left with a sour taste in their mouth. You could go to a top college like MIT or Caltech for a fraction of the cost of this school, let alone the difference in quality to boot. Do not, I repeat, DO NOT get scammed by this organization!!!

Great place for an education and for networking with people who all suck equally with you. It is expensive, but it can be worth it depending on if you are confident enough in yourself and put effort into your work and yourself. So, I was going to use this as a skill builder after I graduated from college. All I wanted was to take some specific classes, which I know is wrong that I was treating it like a community college. Well you could tell that the FOR PROFIT aspect of the university came out. Even though I had a full computer science degree from an accredited college, they would only allow me to skip 4 months of classes. They said I would have to to every other month of classes in the program, even though a lot of them I didn't want and they weren't even prereqs for the classes I did want.

For that, I did not go here, but it really turned me off. Their for profit model is not conducive to a great learning environment.

Just finished enrollment, and I can't be more excited. I worked with Jamie Offerdahl, who has impeccable customer service skills. She went above and beyond to answer each and every one of my many many questions in a timely manner. Great customer service! I can't wait to start!

Fullsail University is an amazing school. Let me start off by saying this: You only get out of it, what you put in to it. Most of the negative reviews are from students that think they can just coast through without trying, sleep in class, or don't pay attention. If you want be successful, you have to TRY. Sure, it's not cheap, but the experiences you get, and the knowledge you gain are second to none! Not to mention, the annual Hall of Fame celebrations are amazing!

Worst education anyone can receive. DO NOT go to this so-called-university. I graduated in 2009, still cannot find a job to this day, and career services sucks; Every time I apply for a job I have to explain what kind of Master's degree I received and if the school is accredited. Left with high debt and no job prospects. I should have stayed at Arizona State University where I would have been able to pursue a Ph.D.

If I could give this school 0 stars I would. I am not a student, but I have sat and watched my significant other struggle through classes with professors who don't care if their students succeed or not. For months now it's been the same story with each class; asking for help and getting no response. If you email a professor they don't get back to you for days, if ever. And by the time they get back to you it's too late and you've already failed. If you call the university to get help they tell you to "contact your professor" or "talk to your advisor". You don't even get to talk to your advisor because it's a different person every time you call! Every time there was an attempt to get a tutor, nothing would happen. I feel that this school is just looking for money from the students. They don't care if you succeed. As a college graduate, I'm beyond appalled at how this school is run and it's lack of care for students. It is truly disheartening to watch someones dreams slip away because the school failed them.

I am a recent graduate from Full Sail University. ...

I am a recent graduate from Full Sail University. Yes, YOU NEED TO HAVE THE RIGHT MINDSET COMING IN. And Yes, this is a FOR PROFIT SCHOOL. It's a rough time at first getting used to the debilitating schedule, the non-existent social community, and relatively rigid attendance regulations. BUT, it's honestly not about the education itself, being in a classroom with other like-minded professionally driven peers is really what this school is all about. I can't stress enough the invaluable advantage you have of networking with other students at Full Sail University. That alone will give you more opportunities than you would if just starting out in the industry or going to another school.

The accreditation is bare minimum so keep in mind that if you wish to transfer out or continue with your degree, you will have a hard time doing so because the credits at Full Sail are worth peanuts to a majority of other colleges (especially graduate programs). That's the major disadvantage of this school.

All in all it's a fars and the only beneficial course is Film, they are very hands on and they really know what they're doing with that course but as far as the other ones, they will not be THAT hands on as they say they are when recruiting potential students. You get to mess around with the mixing consoles and such but I'm warning you that you don't have access to them outside of the classroom and when you're in a class, you can only do as directed by the professor leaving no time for personal use (Recording Arts). We call it the "factory" cause it just brings students in and out very quickly, it is most definitely a FOR PROFIT school so treat it as such if you go there. My time here was very valuable in the networking aspect but as far as the education it's pretty bare minimum.

I hope this helps any potential students looking into Full Sail! It's all about the mentality!

What a joke. with 2 classes left I get called by my "advisor" letting me know I have 24 hours to submit documents or be "withdrawn" from the program. The advisor would not tell me what documents she was talking about or provide any other information. So now I have been removed from the program and there is no one I can talk to about it. I feel like this has been a year long rip off. Oh the "computer" they supplied was such a piece of junk I ended up doing all my work on a machine made in 2008. Avoid this place at all costs
