I left my laptop power supply in the uk but the guy who helped me was great; instead of tapping me up on price for the official HP power supply he pointed me to something much cheaper which works perfectly well, and also with a load of adapters so it can fit other laptops.

Huge shop too with a pile of electronic choice!

This been a great store quick and simple ( the only thing is by law you DO NOT HAVE TO SHOW YOUR RECEIPT AT ALL PERIOD. )). Only a paid membership can ask for a receipt not wal Mart not Fry's FYI Michael finnley on 7 news is the one that told me about receipt

Was a Great Place years ago.

Was a Great Place years ago.
Lately, I am afraid, their days are numbered.

Their Customer Services needs to improve, Big time.
They need to stop the Exit Doorway Checks.

I once was held up for over 10-15 mins leaving the store.
I was in and out of checked out in, 5 mins. Held up at the door.
Just because one item had a return sticker on the back of package the checkout clerk missed. ( Note, Not my fault. )
They wouldn't let me leave. Tried to tell them it was OK I was overcharged,
I was willing to run back and get one without a Return sticker. Or just keep the over changed buck . Was just a 32G SD Card.
Oh no no SIR... Let me call someone. Wait... Wait... Wait... No One coming... Wait some more. They would not Lessen....
But they had to, straighten out the paperwork 1st. No Matter what.

Friendly, Quick, Appreciative, Customer Service must come before their paperwork. Otherwise, I mind as well, just order it on line. Have it delivered.

Wanted.... In and Out... Not delays.
No one wants to Waste their time.

Went to Frys's Sunnyvale location on a Sunday afternoon. No crowd at all. Barely half a dozen customers. Very few staff. Empty shelves. Not sure if the missing crowd/empty shelves are due to COVID-19 or lack of business.

They have the best chocolate chip cookies....I used to work close to there and now I work in mountain view but I still make a trip just for the cookies and once in while the garden salad.

Meh.

They match internet prices -they do!- and friendly restaurant inside. Too bad that the WiFi never seems to work properly, it s a bit of a shame for a store like that in the Silicon Valley. If you hang around in there, eat and shop around, you ll stack up a lot of cell data.

This is the third location of the "original" fry's store - the first location was behind the McDonald's on Lawarence Expressway. Do the Fry brothers still own fry's and is Jolt still available?

A ghost warehouse of random obsolete crap. Appliances, TVs, and candy appear to be all that's left. I guess there's enough stuff to build a PC, too, but it doesn't feel like it. I can never get the exact stuff I want. Oh, and don't forget the completely pointless commission-hunting "assistants" and DirecTV salespeople that make the already dismal experience worse.

Years ago I decided never to purchase any product from Fry s due to their return policy.
I thought they had improved over the years until today Jan 2017

I purchased computer parts to build gaming server for my kids. It was supposed to be a Christmas present
Someone suggested Fry s. I went to the location in Palo Alto, CA and worked with one of their sales person who collected all the parts I needed.
The total cost came to be over $1300.00

I put the computer together. I found out it only recognize one 8 GB memory module. I had two installed. The sales person claimed it will support 16 GB and that what he sold me.

I took the motherboard to Fry s at Laurence, CA. I explained to the customer service person at the door the problem. Right away he started visually checking the board and the magic word came from his mouth. We cannot return it it might be defective and you don t have a defective insurance purchased. I tried to explain to him that the item is 25 days old and it is working fine but with only 8GB where your sales person sold me 16 GB and assured to me it is supported and will work fine because he has just the same board at home.

After long talk I asked if someone from the technical department can talk a look and verify what I am saying. My point if the motherboard is defective as he claims, why it is working fine with 8GB only. It should be fully not functional if it is defective as he claims.

I was taken to see their technician. Who looked at the board after the person on the counter already informed him of the problem. I asked him if can test it. He asked me to wait and later told me he is going for lunch and someone else will come and help.
I waited for someone to come. She actually was nice. She came and told me about the problem they have with this motherboard and I should get different type of motherboard. I agreed. She selected one motherboard that is different type and different manufacture. She asked me to take the item to the return area to give me credit on the returned motherboard and purchase the one she selected.

The lady on the return section introduced herself as the manager said sir you cannot return this motherboard. It is defective. I said, are you a technical? Your technical did not have time to check it and confirm that. I said even if you think it is defective. How would I know it was not defective when I purchased it.
All what should could say. There is nothing I can do. You need to take it back.
The lady was very mean. Has no manner. Coming gin with attitude that is only acceptable in the country where she came from
I told this experience to some people at work who accused me of being so stupid by going an buying products from Fry s. I really agree.

They had a hard drive listed on the internet for a reasonable price and when i check the availability is showed it is in stock and ready to pick up.
When i got to the store i couldn't find the item i was looking for so i asked one of the sales people where I could find it and showed the page i printed from the internet.
he said that model was discontinued and no longer available and that the new model was $15 more than the old one. I told him that was false advertising and he just looks at me like he just got caught with his pants down.

It's a bit hard to find someone to get help from. Overall the experience in the store is fine, you are pretty much able to find anything you need about electronics. You will also find yourself looking at things that aren't electronics.

I was asking for help. Really not a tech person. And I spotted first a lady. She just pointed me to directions of possible cables I may needed. Then I asked next guy where I did not find the HDMI cables I was looking for. At this point I was frustrated. And all the guy could do was point to area to look. Instead of helping Me. He just pointed. I went back and asked Asian guy who was very helpful ! Even suggested what cables and also sold me a office chair. He was very helpful. Mind You that the store wasn't busy at all. So I don't see why the other two could of not went with Me and tried to help.

Wasn't sure they were open... only about 6 cars in parking lot when I arrived. Found what I was looking for & asked for help via their customer service computer. Man I asked for never showed & then, after 12-15 minutes, computer went blank as though I didn't want help anymore. Next I asked for a woman. She showed up in about 5 minutes & was quite helpful but I was upset that they only seemed to have 2 people to assist customers in the whole store (other than check out people). Only 13 cars in parking lot when I left. Too bad. Fry's used to be frustratingly busy.

Dead, lifeless and lots of empty shelves. Came to browse for computer components to see how the prices compare to online retail. I was disappointed, there wasn't much to compare. Most there was were PC cases that I've never heard from. Hope things get better because I don't like waiting for deliveries and to see the actual product irl.

Prices aren't what they used to be, but still fair. Price match with Amazon is great. The customer service is annoying with all the commission vultures eyeing every cart instead of offering genuine help.

Beware of the offers, especially the movie area, they put a price and in the box they charge you another. And the tellers do not want to go see the role of the offer price, so my recommendation is to take a picture and talk to the manager, not with employees.

Filthy and disorganized, customer service is non-existent. Basically the staff are just a bunch of teenaged employees running around annoyed at customers and middle-aged women annoyed at the teenaged employees. Pennies cheaper than the competition, my kind of place 10/10

Place is going out of business. Empty shelves. No restocking, items missing. Sad to see it go. It was great to stop by and pickup random items missing from computer builds or things you needed same day. But alas it's no more.

You better know what you want when you come in, or you'll be sold something more expensive. The sad thing is that I'm well north of 50 and a bit of a technophobe, but I can hold my own with the sales force.
