30 dollar chocolate fudge cake was extremely dry and layer of fudge in the middle was overwhelming. Definitely not worth the price. Dissapointed even though I heard so many good things about this place. Won t return.

This is a very large slice of heaven on earth. Their pastries are truly divine, flaky, perfectly filled and glazed. A must have. Then the cookies...my goodness they are delicious, and the variety is unique. Fruit filled, chocolate dipped, glazed. Beautiful, fun and delicious. They offer custom cakes, hand pies, so much good stuff. This is a MUST stop for me when in Sacramento. Yumm!

Went in for pastries which were exceptional and also bought a loaf of their bread. The bread is so good now I go back at least once a week to get more. Having worked in a bakery it reminds me of the bread we made there. Stays fresh too. Have not tried their cakes yet but they look really tasty.

Fantastic pasties, cakes and sweets.

My only gripe is no Italian sweets: Cannolis, Casada Cake, Rainbow Cookies, Regina cookies.

Customer service is horrible. As soon as I ordered the cake and gave them my credit card number, I felt taken advantage of because the price was just too high. So I called right away to cancel and they would not budge. I asked for the supervisor who came on the line and just repeated what the person I was talking with said. they had a 72 hour cancellation policy that I'm sure they could've worked their way around since I was cancelling immediately. She told me I can cancel my order but they still have to charge me for it. Does this make sense? I won't be doing business with them again.

All kinds of baked goodies here - savory pastries, sweet pastries, breads and beautifully decorated cakes. Freeport Bakery has been a Sacramento staple for a long time and continues to be labeled one of the best bakeries in the area. It's a nice spot to grab a morning croissant or bagel and a coffee, but come early or you'll wait in line, especially on the weekends.

Cakes are really great and nicely decorated. I did ask one of the employees a question and she didn't answer my question correctly and I found out later that there was a cake that had frosting. So taking off one star because of that.

Freeport bakery place has, hands down, the best cakes in the Sacramento area. My favorites are the champagne cake and the shadow dress cake. The pies, pastries, coffee, cocoa, and cookies are also quite good, but their specialty is definitely with the cakes.

Loved it. First time trying it. Cake was amazing. The strawberries in the cake were so fresh and sweet. The only thing that was going to deter me from buying the cake was the baker I. Ordered the cake from. I felt she was a little rude and impatient especially being my first time ordering a cake from them.

Best bakery for cakes I've had on the West Coast. ...

Best bakery for cakes I've had on the West Coast. May even give Chicago's phenomenal Sweet Mandy B's a run for its money in the cake department (honestly they may be better.) The cake selection is large but what they really excel at for me I cakes that aren't too ganache or mouse like, cakes that have that course yet moist consistancy.

Places like Rick's in midtown try to do this while being all gimmick with no real quality to the cake but Freeport is the real deal, artisan yet reasonably priced. Cakes are just the right size and just check all my personal boxes perfectly and this is coming from someone who doesnt care for many San Francisco cakes, save for Original Joe's phenomenal buttercake and Victoria's Princess cake.

Freeport's got it going on and this quality spans across multiple cakes. I haven't tried their pastries. A lot of them look at a glance somewhat less impressive than the cakes. most every bakery or restaurant that's good has their elite items and their weaker ones, but who knows looks can be deceiving.

The cakes though are phenomenal.

All of our celebration cakes come from Freeport! I order an "off" menu cake several times a year, and have for over 20 years now. No problems, perfection every time!
Try the chocolate vegan cupcake. Surprisingly delicious, moist and fudgy!
Fresh challa every Friday.
Great coffee, too! Some of the cakes are available to get a half cake too. Just ask. (Grandma gets us a half of a chocolate cake and challa every visit )

The blackout cake was dense rich dark chocolate. Exactly what i had a taste for. There was a metallic smell in the bakery which i attributed to the copper top tables. We had gone another time on sunday for a cinnamon roll but they were out. Advised by counter person that we needed to get there by 10am on the weekend to get a cinnamon roll.

I am hoping that I have had the last piece of Freeport cake I will be obligated to eat at a work function. I have had many, always with the same dissatisfaction. The cake is dry and the buttercream frosting is put on by the shovelful. I don't get the trend in so many bakeries that the frosting should roughly equal the amount of cake, instead of being a compliment to the cake--I am guessing it is to hide the fact that making a moist cake is far more difficult than making (or buying) buttercream.

Freeport Bakery baked the cake for my wedding and we loved it! Setting up an appointment with them was very easy, they have done a lot of cakes and were willing to work with us to meet our budget. My wife had a very specific appearance she wanted for the cake and they hit it right on the mark! The cake was delicious and beautiful.
All in all, a very positive experience.

I like freeport bakery, but I feel like they have so much business that they don't feel a need to be very customer service oriented. When I go there I feel like I'm on the Seinfeld episode with the soup Nazi: I need to be on top of my ordering game or they will give me attitude.

I have been a customer with Freeport Bakery for about 15 years. My Daughter got married on May 17, 2015 and ordered a chocolate and red velvet cake. The cake was very beautiful; however, the red velvet was very dry. The following day my Daughter spoke to the Manager, who acted as though this was no big deal. My Daughter even mentioned how many guests commented on how dry the red velvet cake tasted and was very surprised to hear it was from Freeport Bakery. The cake was very expensive, yet the Manager offered no type of reimbursement, for such a special event. Greatly disappointed in their customer service and the red velvet cake.

I had a spectacular apricot pastry with a cup of Orange juice. Limited parking in the back. Wide variety of luscious products. Small bakery with some indoor seating and outdoor seating. Highly recommended
