Awesome burrito place just a walk from the UCSB campus!

Was advised by some friends to try the quesarito and it definitely did not disappoint! It's basically like a burrito but with melted cheese inside the tortilla. it was also pretty huge so I'd recommend splitting it with a friend unless you can afford to get a food coma afterwards. The only drawback is that it was a bit on the pricey side--about $10 for the quesarito--but definitely worth the money for what you get.

Another friend says he only gets the nachos there, which is pretty hearty and tasty also.

Truly an IV institution, if you're looking for a quick, filling, and delicious bite to eat you can't go wrong here. Really good nachos made with perfectly crispy chips, that will satisfy any late night, booze fueled, food craving!

My husband went to UCSB, and has been wanting to take me here since we first started dating. We finally got to go, on our honeymoon.

Tasty little joint near the University of California Santa Barbara campus. Looks like an upscale Chipotle, tastes like an upscale Chipotle, has the prices of an upscale Chipotle!

Well worth it though. Make sure to try the nachos platter. Lots of food, but will run you somewhere between $15-19. The spicy salsa verde is much better than the regular salsa verde.

Popular place with the locals. Open late so you can get your munchies on. I would recommend getting the nachos with everything on it, it's great to share or have over multiple meals.

Same great service and delicious food as when I was in college at UCSB over 10 years ago.

Large portions, solid food, open late. I don't know why there aren't more places like this.

The best quality ingredients!! It s is a 100 times better version of chipotle. I always get the off-menu quesorito. They do it really well and never skimp on the quantity or quality

Freebirds is awesome!!! The staff is really nice. Can get really crowded for lunch and dinner during the school days. Their serving of Nacho's is a lot. Good to share for two people.

One of the truly iconic food stops in Isla vista. Any person that's been through the college systems or experienced the party scene has found their way here one way or another. Being one of the few 24 locations in town, it's a late night staple and sure to be filling.

2 years after my last dinner here still miss the monster burrito.

In a county proliferated with taquerias and burrito joints, Freebirds delivers consistent quality and amazing flavor.

Great food although its a little expensive the portions are very large. I got a quesirito (not on the physical menu but they'll make it for you) and it did me for dinner and breakfast the next morning.

Always good food!! The chicken is always seasoned well and never dried out, the portions sizes are large!
The location in IV is the only thing that keeps us away as they have a small parking lot and a cozy little dining area that doesn't always fit our family. (they do have one high chair)

An institution. Providing a service to students, parents, and tourists. Never a complaint.

Always a quality burrito. Always a feature of any pilgrimage to SB.

They serve minimal quantities unless you ask. I think it's part of their business strategy or something. I don't think the customer should have to ask every time. They serve a kid's size meal for adults. Also their take away containers are not leak proof. Rosarito nearby is cheaper, tastes as good as Freebirds and they also serve a good amount without the customer having to appear like an annoying person.

Varies from Chipotle in the ingredients, which seem higher quality, and the nachos.

Even though I can't stand the students that flock here, the staff is very nice and they make great burritos

Cafeteria-style burrito bar. Choose your tortilla size, then they grill it. Choose your fillings and enjoy!

You know why you come here. It's a little pricey, but it's really really solid, and you're either drunk, a college student, or nostalgic for the Freebs you ate as a drunk college student. Nothing beats the nachoquesarito or sharing nachos with fried onions and BBQ sauce

Usually a long line, but it moves pretty fast and the food is consistently delicious. Make sure you add the blackened crispy to whatever you get!

I'm writing this as a graduate student who is neither drunk nor hung-over; I'm here to tell you that this place is nothing special. They have burritos that are tasty, but not really anything different from what you could make at home.

Decent quality food, a bit overpriced for what it is. Not very authentic.

Love their nachos. Love the fajita type veggies. Wish I lived here and could happily weigh 600 pounds being fat and HAPPY everyday .

Super popular but there's a reason. A tad bit overpriced

As cheap as chipotle, with better tasting ingredients. However, they lack a vegan options akin to the soy crumbles. But chipotle doesn't have crispy onions, or as many tasth salsas! They often have horchata, flavored lemonaids, and other great drinks.

Food was okay but extremely overpriced - not worth the upcharge. The only upside is the late hours, so if you want a decent burrito at midnight then that s the only time I d recommend it.

Best nachos ever. Probably have visited this place 30+ times over the years. Very consistent quality, huge portions, fantastic food, and high prices. Worth every penny.
