Nice, but not in the same class as the great old gardens like Longwood. Would be far better without the sculpture, which ranges from weird to kitschy. Japanese garden is worth seeing. It was hot and crowded during my visit today which made the garden seem small and cramped. The most enjoyable part of my tour was the outer area which was over-looked by the crowd and featured typical midwestern garden flowers and trees.

This is a great gardens. I've been going here for years, and they are always building something new. It's best to go on a day when it's nice to walk around outside. It can be crowded inside, and the outdoor area is beautiful any time of year--especially the Japanese garden area. It's also big. The indoor area is relatively small, so don't think that's the case outdoors.

If you're coming in cold weather, it's a ways from the parking lot to the entrance. There is a large coat room, so don't skip the coat just because you don't want to wear it indoors.

The level of volunteer participation is outstanding, and they are some of the most cheerful people you'll meet.

Amazing stop on a recent Michigan road trip. Children's area was great, there was a large treetop to tree top playset. The staff also did a great job with masks although there were several guests who were clearly not heading the rules. The tram ride to get around the outer edge of the park was absolutely worth the few dollars, and also gave you a drop off point at the Japanese garden if you didn't want to go back to the original station. Great combination of fun activities for both adults and kids.

Three generations of our family enjoyed the Meijer Gardens today! It deserves the top ten things to do in Michigan award. Plan to spend a day here inside and outside. Be prepared for quite a bit of walking or choose to ride the tram on their well surfaced walkways. We choose to walk and enjoy the sculptures along the path. Our family favorites today are the kids garden and Japanese Garden.

This is a fantastic place to see. There are beautiful gardens, pieces of art and very nice indoor greenhouses all with unique and beautiful wildlife. If you are looking for a nice place to spend an afternoon look no further. They Akzo have bathrooms in several locations on the trail and the staff us helpful and friendly.

My husband and I went here for our 1year anniversary. It was so beautiful. A lot of walking but there were benches everywhere if you got tired. We spent most of the day in the Japanese gardens.

Beautiful conservatory and gardens, one of the finer attractions in Grand Rapids! The greenhouses and butterfly conservatory were our favorite parts. There's a gorgeous collection of plants on display, and lots of beautiful butterflies to see. However on the day we were there (Saturday afternoon) it was very crowded, almost shoulder-to-shoulder walking through the greenhouses. The indoor sculpture gallery left a lot to be desired - the collection itself was pretty small, and the captions were exceptionally cheesy and mostly talked about how cool and important Fred Meijer was. Most of the grounds outside were still under construction, and unfortunately we weren't able to walk around and see the larger sculpture displays this time. We would love to come back and enjoy the gardens outdoors.

This was our first trip and we really enjoyed the variety of spaces and things to see. It was amazing this time of year, I can only imagine how beautiful it is in early summer. We will definitely be back!

I was attending a training... I felt very comfortable and safe. Masks are required in all common areas. The room was promptly cleaned and ready and Ann-Marie was supportive by occasionally checking in on our group! also, we were free to enjoy the gardens during business hours during the week of training

I had my wedding here and everything about this place is incredible. I had my wedding the first weekend of art prize and one of my concerns was people trying to watch or open our doors to our room and that never even happened. They took amazing care of me and made me feel like I was the only important factor to that day even though they had multiple weddings and art prize! I couldn t say better things about the gardens!

There are many things to do for the whole family. From just walking the beautiful grounds filled with beautiful art, to the many exhibits, the butterfly garden, the Japanese exhibit, the Christmas around the world. It is a fabulous place to visit any time of the year.

Amazing place for the kids and for a romantic get away date! It is remarkably beautiful inside. This year I took my family to see the butterflies and it was a wonderful experience! We had a blast and had a few land on us!

Nice!

Beautiful gardens. The staff are friendly, there's lots to see, plenty of room to walk about. My favorite areas were the conservatory, where they've got lots of tropical plants, and the carnivorous plant section. The sculpture garden was quite spectacular as well. Look for the giant horse and a giant silver metal sculpture that looks like a neuron.

All the exotic plants & flowers, & especially the famous butterfly exhibit everybody goes to see. They have a children's park, a stadium where they have concerts in the summer. It's a must go see place.

Fabulous gardens plus great art. What more can I say?

Well, maybe a bit more. If you live in the area, consider a membership. We're a glad we joined. Now we don't feel rushed to see it all at once. On a nice day, we go for a walk there.

Staff and volunteers are friendly and helpful.

We haven't yet tried the classes, lectures, or concerts, but they are available.
The cafe has tasty food, out of the ordinary choices. A bit pricy for every day for us, but comparable price to other museum cafes with better food.
