Can t say enough good things about Frederick Meijer Gardens. The staff is friendly and helpful. The views along the outdoor trails are second to none in the city. Butterfly exhibit is one of a kind and the bands featured in the concert series are amazing.

Frederik Meijer Gardens has a massive collection of sculptural art among their pristine grounds. The variation in form, subject, and artist ensures that anyone who goes has a chance at a favorite. There is a smaller section for kiddos to explore nature, texture, and a splash park. The interior space is great for those who are less mobile. A great place to spend an afternoon.

Meijer Gardens is my happy place!! I enjoy being a member and coming through seasonally with new guests to explore the exhibits and check out the plants and art. It's always changing and always beautiful. The staff and volunteers do such a wonderful job. Volunteering here is also extremely rewarding and I highly recommend trying it out whether you have a few hours a month or a few hours a week!

This place is magical! The butterflies fluttering around your face is such a beautiful experience. The gardens are amazing and there's a lot to do, even in the winter. They are doing some remodeling so it was a little difficult to navigate, but the trails and outdoor areas are huge. There are many different areas with trails including a marsh, Japanese garden, and sculpture garden. I can't wait to visit again in the summer!

Beautiful venue, but do not attempt this without an aggressive wedding planner. Staff is unresponsive in the planning stage. You can only email them or leave a voicemail message and hope they call you back. They only work on events in due date order, so if you have a question that affects other decisions, you may have to wait as long as a month for a response. They may or may not acknowledge your email, and they may only answer some of your questions. They will not give you guidance, so if you don't have a wedding planner, you are on your own. Actual schedules that they give you are subject to change on the day of the event.

Important note: even though the website states you have free admission to the park, they mean only during the ceremony. We paid an extra $2500 to rent the waterfall space for our wedding. Our wedding was rained out, so we held the ceremony indoors. When the rain cleared after the ceremony, guests wanted to see the waterfall but they were prevented from taking a walk, being told they had to stay in the reception space. So embarrassing!

Banquet staff was great, the food was good, but there was way too much unnecessary stress leading up to the event, and the issue of not leaving the building to enjoy a walk when we thought we had paid for that felt deceiving. We told our guests to enjoy a walk during the cocktail hour so we were embarrassed when they were apprehended by security! A wedding is probably the largest party you will give, and there are so many details. I can't recommend this venue unless you have an aggressive wedding planner. For outdoor venues, try Bay Point Inn - they were a breeze to work with, and there was no "fine print" in their contract.

One of my favorite places to visit, in any season. Either seeing a new exhibition, or walking to sculptures we already know and love; it's always a good time. The restaurant is pricey, but the food is delicious.

The sculpture gardens are impressive, as is the large play structure for kids. They have semi regular events, like Christmas trees of the world and recently had butterflies in their bio-zone enclosures.

The butterfly event was impressive. Kids snapped some good pictures and the supervising staff was very knowledgeable about the processes and stages involved.

Worthwhile for a family visit.

Had a great time here when we visited Grand Rapids for a weekend. Yes, I think some of the sculptures are strange. True, maybe I don't understand "art" all the time - but it is still really cool to see. The Japanese Garden was nice and the snow-covered waterfalls added some soothing background noise.

Now for the fun stuff. Let's start with the indoor gardens. The tropical area is nice and warm with some really cool plants and colorful, tiny birds that I have never seen before that will zip by your head at lightning fast speeds.

The carnivorous garden has Venus Fly-traps (among others) that are always fascinating to see. Just don't trick them into closing because they won't reopen for a week!

And finally, my personal favorite, the Arid Garden. I had no idea that there were so many different types of cacti - and of course, like a little kid in a candy store, I touched almost every single one of them (pulled out the spines later that night).

Overall it was a very cool place. I recommend hitting the gift shop before you leave to pick up some decorative hedgehogs and a cactus to take home.

A gem. I love exploring the gardens and sculpture gardens, all year round. The butterflies in the spring are a highlight. My kids favorite thing is the Great Lakes water table that is open in warmer months.

The Frederick Meijers gardens have taken
botanical gardens and combined some of the best large sculptures to form these amazing

This is a must see on any trip to Michigan.

Absolutely stunning gardens! This particular visit was for the butterfly exhibit in the spring . What a great way to escape the winter doldrums by wandering through the tropical forest setting with thousands of beautiful butterflies and some tropical birds flutter about. We were fortunate to go on a pretty fair spring day, making it possible to bring the kids to play at the fantastic children's garden, complete with a story time. Fun for all, our group of 6 ranging in ages from 2-58! Thanks!

We always love to see the butterflies!! I am always impressed at how well the facility is maintained and the friendliness of the staff. When we visited it was under construction (a little inconvenient) but the temporary walkway and entrance are very nice and I look forward to seeing the new buildings!

A great visit for my #ToursAroundMichigan groups who want to explore the area with an award winning guide. This place is amazing indoors and out. You can go in for a couple of hours or spend the day. There is so much to see, and tons of relaxing moments to soak in. Feel connected to nature here, and exhale. Look for the hidden sculptures. They're everywhere!
