Frederick Meijer Gardens is amazing. I took about 1,000 pictures. It was fun for the family, a long walk, we did not ride the tour bus, that might have been helpful, being able to get info from the tour guide, but we just hiked it.
There are so many exhibits, and they are pretty well isolated. Meaning, if you take a picture of one, more than likely, you will not have another one in the picture with it.
The giant horse is bigger in person!

They used to have more vegan and vegetarian options
And nearly everything labeled "vegetarian" has chicken in it. Which last I checked chicken was an animal. Leaving no options for a family of 5. Kind of frustrating when they claim to cater to allergies and vegetarians.

Beautiful gardens and sculptures indoors and outside. I d recommend setting aside 3-5 hours to see it all, depending on which trails you d like to see. Don t miss the Japanese garden or the trolley tour!

Fabulous place that gets better every year! Excellent, clean and large coatroom and restrooms. Beautiful cafe with a spectacular Chihuly installation along the ceiling. Assortment of climates and therefore plants in various greenhouses; the conservatory is especially enjoyable with its waterfall, rotating orchid displays, colorful birds and (in March and April) butterflies. Sculptures throughout the various outdoor gardens make long strolls interesting. Don't miss the DaVinci horse!
One caveat for 2019: construction has necessitated quite a long walk from the parking lot. Wheelchairs are provided, but the distance is daunting for anyone with medical issues. I look forward to more appropriate handicapped parking!

A beautiful place for the entire family to enjoy an entire day for a reasonable price. Definitely take the tram tour on arrival. The site is so huge it's a great opportunity to scope it out and narrow your focus. Be sure to grab the free More

The Gardens are lovely in each season! At Christmas there are the model trains that chug past recreations of local landmarks built entirely from plants! In early spring the butterflies and bulb garden are a balm to the weary winter soul. Late spring-fall brings the delights of the sculpture walk, the Japanese gardens and the children s garden. The summer Tuesday night concerts are fun and delightful. The outdoor walkways are fastidiously cleaned during the winter, making it a lovely place for a winter stroll. An insider tip for seeing butterflies and avoiding crowds is to go on a weekday in the final hour of operation.

So pretty! The inside areas are wonderful! There is a lot of walking and the areas are completely seperate. The map we got at information could have been better but the scenery made up for it. We had a family member in a wheelchair and almost the entire area was paved and easy to push him around on.

There is a ton to do around the gardens. Great for kids and adults. We go to the butterfly exhibit every year and are never disappointed. Wear a short sleeve with a sweatshirt as the greenhouse stress gets quite warm.

The Christmas trees around the world display is beautiful and very special. And it's just slightly different every year so you never get tired of seeing it. The cafe on site has good food for a break. The gift shop has lovely items.

Everything was so beautiful. The Japanese garden was so wonderful the authenticity is overwhelming so many things to see: little carvings in the rocks, trees planted at angles to give the appearance of age. Such a great place to spend the whole day. Such an amazing variety of sculptures. The Landscaping is so beautiful and professionally done.

Much construction currently distracts slightly but it promises to be even more awesome. Beautiful gardens, interesting sculptures, narrated tram service, decent lunch deli, children's area just lovely!! Time well spent

Just Amazing! Hundreds of Butterfly's, flying all around you and landing on you! So Cool! The only negative was the super long walk from the parking lot, once you actually could get a parking spot, but once your in so worth it.

It's easy to see why this is one of the favorite spots to go to in Grand Rapids. the caretakers of these gardens take meticulous time to make sure they get as much right as they possibly can't, and they rarely get it wrong. the kids garden area, and the Japanese garden are exquisiteexamples of the detail craftsmanship and workmanship that go into maintaining this lovely beautiful and vast botanical expanse.
Mr. Fred Meyer, and his family should be proud ofof this achievement, and should be pleased to know that their contribution is by far one of the best examples ofphilanthropy and community investment that I've seen.

I would definitely visit this this place again.

One of the best places in Grand Rapids to visit as a local or with out of town guests. Great way to experience many cultures, climates, and experience nature in different ways. The new Japanese Garden is especially beautiful and that's based on seeing it in early Winter, looking forward to revisiting in the Spring

Coming from Washington, D.C. (home of the U.S. Botanic Garden), I was prepared to be underwhelmed by Frederik Meijer Garden. Instead, I was blown away. It's much larger than the one in Washington, D.C. (though the one in the capital is free). Here's what's to love:

1) Experience: The entire experience is amazing for the entire family. You can always find parking in the large lot. There are several exhibits, gardens, indoor gardens, sculptures, play areas, etc. We went during the holidays to see the train sets and the buildings made from plants/wood.

2) Kid-friendly: There's an area for children with a treehouse and a cabin filled with games. Our toddler LOVED visiting this area.

3) Price: It's $14.50 for adults, but if you go with a member, it's free.

If you're visiting Grand Rapids, this is a MUST VISIT!
