It saddens me to only give this place 2 stars. Although the pizza is outstanding, the customer service, or lack of, brings down the rating from 5 to 2. The last few times we have ordered from the New Haven restaurant, the girl behind the counter was very rude and nasty. It almost seems like, since they were Rated #1 in Connecticut, they don't care about the customer anymore! They were even rude on the phone to my son when he called in an order on the phone, on a separate occasion. Sad, very sad..

Good pizza, there's typically a long wait but the pizza is worth it.

I'm not sure what the hype is all about... went to the original location with high hopes, ordered an "original with mozzarella"...... The crust is good, but the sauce was so bland, there was literally NO seasoning. No salt, no garlic, no anything. Seemed like it was just plain crushed tomatoes. Very disappointed.

My oh my, that fresh tomato pie! And the white clam pie was also delicious.
Our server was patient with our large group, which included 6 kids. Her Connecticut kindness was much appreciated!

Lived up to the hype. You could absolutely taste the quality in the ingredients, editorially especially the sauce. I think sticking to simple, classic toppings, such as pepperoni, spinach and roasted pepper, or margarita is the way to go. I look forward to going back.

The pizza at Frank Pepe was absolutely fantastic! The one negative mark I have is if you don't like any black on the bottom of your pizza, then there's a chance you won't like Frank Pepe.

Was back in the area from Montana and had to reaffirm that the pizza is always this great. I was not disappointed! Great again and they even remembered me. Do yourself a favor and believe the billboards that this is the best pizza.

Their pizza is as good as pizza can be; it takes you to an ethereal realm. The clam pizza is a masterpiece. I never pass by New Haven without stopping here to get their pizza. It is an hour and half journey, so the back seat is filled with pizza so my dreams can continue after I get home. Go next door to Libby's for biscotti and your life is complete.

I'll start by admitting complete embarrassment for not having reviewed the Mount Olympus of Pizzas. Frank Pepe, the Zeus of Pies, would not be pleased.

Everyone has the best pizza back in their hometown. In my case, It's Isabella's (Gaines St., Tallahassee). Whether or not we're believers, we also have the ONE ultimate pizza in the known universe - providing warmth, wisdom and understanding in every bite. True believers know this to be Frank Pepe's pizzeria Napoletana. Agnostics also know deep down (not deep dish) this is true but have not outwardly professed this truth to others.

Pepe's white clam pizza is the stuff books, blogs, poems, haikus, and screenplays are made of. And that's just ONE pizza.

For those of you making your lifetime Hajj to Pepe's, and those of you making your weekly drop-in to The Spot, I say this: Savor each second of your experience - from the line you liked stood in - to simply being in the presence of "The Great Oven" - to being allowed to use the restrooms towards the end.

Coming to Pepe's is a "rite" and not a "right". It is a "privilege", so act accordingly. Sure, laugh it up and enjoy your party - but recognize this solemn communion with THE pizza and know that order in the world has been restored.

Awesome awesome pizza. My fiance and his family introduced me to PePes. I wish California had something at least a fraction as delicious.

Best pizza I've ever had. I really fancy the additional love that is put in to make it tasty. Adding fresh garlic, throwing in the basil, seasoning the crust, etc. I loved every thing about it, sauce, dough, topping, flavor, texture, cook. Definitely try this place out if you're in the area.

I managed to snag the last clam pie of the day after I stopped on a whim while driving back to PA. I'm so glad I did.

I have NO idea why people rave about thin, burnt crust, salty pizza. I will not be ordering pizza from them, like, EVER.

Everyone stops here at least once while in New Haven. Okay pizza, thin crust, burnt crust, long wait for pizza to cook. Parking in parking lot always full, street parking a challenge. I prefer Little Cesar's.

The best. New Haven Pepe's is better then a few of the other Pepe's. Definately 5 star.
The crust is AMAZING. Chicken,bacon,onion and peperoni was the pizza we ordered last time.

We came all the way to New Haven from New York just to try this pizza, and it was absolutely worth it! We tried the clam white pizza, the pepperoni, the quatro fromaggi and the artichoke. Loved it! Absolutely recommend!

Frank Pepe, thanks for such an amazing pizza. I went to the original location in New Haven, on my trip to New York/Connecticut, they are not doing dine-in yet but you can get it to go. My friend and I ordered half meatball and sausage. Hands down best pizza I've eaten.

eh, the pizza was ok. the place is pretty small and the time to get our pizza was very long.

We stop every time we are in town hands down best pizza ever. Clam pie, pepperoni, classic cheese and top it off with a birch beer and cream soda!!

This place never disappoints me. Frank Pepe's is one of the oldest (since 1925) pizzeria chain serving coal-fired break-oven pizza. Usually there's a long wait here if you want to dine in (I would suggest take away if you've a car) but totally worth it. They don't have home delivery and that's because you're supposed to eat Frank Pepe's pizza piping hot and NOT COLD!! One of my all time favorite is the Cheese Pizza with fresh garlic topping (The best).

Great pizza. Can order online, over the phone. Curbside pickup was convinient. They have a 2 parking lots. There is two buildings.

Drove 2 hours just to get some white clam pizza. We'll worth it. The charred crust is just fantastic. A bit touristy but well-earned.

Hadn't been here since I was little. Service was great and pizza was even better. Glad I could share this experience with my kids. Getting there early certainly helped, we sat right down.

Fresh high quality ingredients. Very crowded, busy, and loud so be prepared for a wait. The pizza is thin crust and cooked in a huge brick oven with a slight burned bottom.

This is actually the best pizza place in the world ( fact not fiction ) but seriously the reviews speak for themselves. This is the best pizza. People com from all over to enjoy it. I am lucky enough to live 15 minutes away, but it is still an occasional treat.

Love the gorgonzola spinach mushroom pizza. I'm not a fan of clams but I tried their signature clam pizza. It was not for me but my friends loved it.

This pizza was amazing! My first time trying Connecticut pizza and it does not disappoint.. I will definitely come back to try the white clam next! I ordered at 2pm and it was still hot when I picked up at 3pm.. I recommend ordering online at least 40 mins before hand.. when we got there, the line was around the corner of at least 20-25 people..

Absolutely the best pizza I have ever had, crispy crust and juicy topping! Worth the 2 hours wait to get in! Highly recommend checking out their menu online before coming in so you can just order, speed up the process a bit.

Heard lots of great things about this place but was left with a bad taste in my mouth. Not sure if it was a fluke occurrence, but the sauce was so watery and flavorless, and the cheese was bland. Very overpriced for what it is. Would not recommend.

Frank pepes is a top notch pizza restaurant. I went there with my family the other day with high expectations and it didn't dissapoint. We had a cheese pizza and a meatball and ricotta pizza. I would highly recommend both. The flavors are incredible, something that's very hard to find outside of newhaven. Its a top 3 pizza location in my book, next time I'm in town I'll definetly be back.

Truly the best pizza in the world. I never miss the chance to get apizza from Pepe's when I'm passing visiting New Haven (mozz and spicy pepperoni, please!).

Great authentic pizza! We waited in line outside for about 45min-1hr, the place was packed! I'm sure if you go on an off day, the wait time would not be so long.

Love this place. We got there right when it opened at 11 am for an early lunch which was great because there was no line to be seated and we didn't have to wait to order food either. Love the thin crust. We ordered the white pizza with clams and a pepperoni pizza. Delicious!

I drove 50minutes just to find out they stopped taking orders 45min before closing! What type of business operates like that?! Good luck, I m going down the street to Sally s!
