The 3 stars is for the pizza, it was a decent And the sauce was unique and good but I have had better tbh. When it comes to customer service they are so unorganized and they messed up my order when I ordered through the phone and then when I got to the store I got into the argument because of the manger blaming me for messing up the order while the person who took my order did not write it down and make the pizza, smhhh I am so disappointed was that management at this place.

I have to be honest. I've tried this place multiple times because my husband loves it so much. But the pizza is super salty and always has a burnt taste on the crust. Also you have to wait in line for at least an hour to get in. In my experience the service has been poor as well, the last time we were in CT my husband insisted on stopping in. We arrived at 9:05 pm and the waitress told us we couldn't be seated because they were closing soon (10pm) It was incredibly upsetting and unprofessional. It's my personal opinion Pepe's is over rated.

The reputation is warranted. One of the best pizza places in the CT, which is to say in New England and the country. Thin, crispy with a slight chew and simple. Delicious sauce and crust. Nothing soggy or oily. This is coal-fire brick oven pizza. Unlike its delicious thin crust cousin from NYC, there is no need to fold and the cheese wont slide off. Even their four cheese, the Quattro Fromaggi, holds it's structure. Their famous clam pizza is made with fresh shucked clam of the day. Once they run out, that's it until tomorrow. It's a simple setting. It's authentic (been in the family, run essentially the same way since 1925). ...but it's popular, both locally and long distance. They don't take reservations. Waits can get up to an hour, and I've seen people do it in the snow. We we're lucky; at 830 on a Friday in May, we had only a 20 min wait. Also try Modern Apizza or Sally's (both in New Haven), Crust or Mondo in Middletown, Luna is West Hartford and Michaelangelo's is Rocky Hill.

Pizza is very good Very busy place, so it is hard to get seated Clam pizza is good, but the oregano was too strong for my taste, but the clams were really fresh and nicely cooked

I ordered 2 Pizza's for take out about 1 hour in advance of getting there. Yet I had to wait almost 30mins at the place for picking up the Pizzas as the place was so busy. The Clam Pizza I ordered was burnt at several places. In addition the clams were not cooked completely. So we had to trash it. However the Chicken and Garlic pizza was cooked very well and was very tasty.

Very good, but supposed to be best pizza in America so high bar. It was certainly not the best pizza, even if it's good. Got the white clam pizza which was certainly the best clam pizza I've had.... But odd bar. The dough really is incredible but the clams were sometimes too chewy to eat and that's a big red mark.

A friend took me there over 20 years ago when I first arrived New Haven. I enjoyed this place almost regularly throughout my stay in the area for about 2 years. This was my boy's spring break and we were on our way to Boston and we stopped for lunch. The line outside of the store was still pretty long and the pizza was still as good as I can remember. The clam with white garlic source is definitely something different from other piazzas!!!

Never been to the New Haven location until now. Frank Pepe's is always great but in my opinion it just didn't live up to the wildly high expectations. The white clam pizza (while I ate the whole thing and then some) was good but I don't think it was the best pizza I've ever had. The margarita is always a good one but the other location in Danbury is way less crowded and offers similar quality. Service is good, the wait was quite awhile but I wasn't offended by that. Overall it's great, but if you're going into it thinking the white clam is the best pie in America, you might be a tad bit disappointed. History of the place is awesome and certainly do not regret experiencing it. Great little area as well. Wooster was a cool street.

I ordered a 14" at it was just perfect. The tomato sauce in the pizza is unique along with th cheese. Donna B our waitress took care of use when they missed a topping in our pizza. She went back and for no extra charge got us a whole small pizza with all the items. They have a really refreshing beer the THUMBLE RUBY it was a great combination It will take you a couple of slices to figure out why you can't stop eating it, by the time you figure it out you are done with the pizza. I am sure coming back to try new toppings. Not for nothing they are the best pizza in New England.

Delicious New Haven pizza served by a fast and professional staff! Loved watching the kitchen while waiting for our pizza. Had the margarita pizza with sausage (HIGHLY recommend the sausage) and the clam pizza. We ate it all up, it was amazing! So happy we got a taste of the authentic, original tomato pie!

We ordered this past Friday evening online and although we know the pizzas are fire cooked, there was an option for "light bake" which is what we chose because black crust is inedible and our kids hate it, but they cooked it just the same...burnt. I know Pepes was voted best in the country but Modern in my opinion is much better.

New York? Chicago? I say, "New Haven"! Yes, New Haven is the place for the best pizza. Frank Pepe's is a local favorite and there is no doubt as to why. The crust is not the thick inch or more of dough and not a droopy mess where you lose all your toppings, but a soft, firm crust that holds it all together. A wide variety of toppings with the pepperoni and sausage combination being the best. Be prepared to wait to get and be chaotic inside. In between the busy and the chaos you will quickly receive a pizza you won't forget.

We are new to New Haven and heard all about Frank Pepe s Pizza. The pizza was definitely wonderful but Susan G. provided us with very poor service. We re not sure what it was about us that didn t deserve the kindness that other tables seemed to receive. We understand that it was busy but in the end, it won t matter how wonderful the pizza is if the service doesn t match it.

This pizza was good. Not damn good, not the best pizza I ve ever had, but it was good. It s an experience to say the very least. I tried both the clam white pizza and the margarita. The white pizza was slightly flavorless, which was strange because of the vast amount of oil and garlic on top of the pie but perhaps it was because there wasn t very many clams on the pizza either. The margarita was much more flavorful and was the overall better pizza, although I had wished to say the opposite. The wait is a good 30 minutes outside so be prepared to freeze a little bit.

This is one of those places that you see on TV all of the time. It always begs the question to whether or not the restaurant will hold up. In this case it absolutely does. While the more tomato, less cheese focus may appear strange, the strength of the sauce and crust make it a truly excellent offering. The crust in particular has a really great chewy aspect to it.

I've been going here for pizza since I was a toddler. Love, love, love, their sausage pizza. My husband's favorite is white clam pizza. Cannot say I've ever had a bad pie here!! Always great pizza and excellent service!(Even at the one at Mohegan Sun). When we visit the casino it's always my go to place when I'm hungry!

The crust on these Pizzas are crisp and not too thick or thin. It's not the classic bubbly wet Napolitano style Pizzas but for $15 for a pizza, it's underwhelming. The quality of their anchovies is very good and if you like salty savory flavor get a tomato pie with anchovies. I prefer it over their white clam pizza.

Our order was messed up. We ordered a white clam and a mushroom pizza for pickup at 12:30. We got one cold clam when we came at 12:32 which wasn't very good. We ordered the mushroom again, and they were able to prioritize it and get it done in 12 minutes. That pizza was excellent, great crispy crust, fresh ingredients, better the next day when we had leftovers. Based on our first experience we wouldn't have the clam again.

What I am gonna say might be blasphemy to a lot of people but I actually wasn't that impressed with their Clam pizza. It had too much garlic to my liking. The garlic overpowered almost everything. Their other pies were great. But if you are a person who doesn't like garlic please stay awake from the Clam pizza which is supposed to be the top favorite here !
