This place is a hidden. Once you find the little ally, you'll ask yourself, am I sure I really want to try their fortune cookies? Do it! The cookies are awesome and fresh. You'll get a quick peak of how they're made. There's a ton of free samples. The bags are big and decently priced. Once you've gotten your cookies and walking down the ally, you'll be happy and won't even notice the dead rats, trash, etc. lying around. Fun times and good stuff. :-)

Must see if you are visiting SF Chinatown, only takes seconds to see entire store, usually have free samples, unless you happen to run into a tourist group of 50+ that's also visiting this amazing factory.

Fortune cookies. What can I say... This place seems so authentic (and I belove it is). Great cookies and all kinds of varieties: regular fortune cookies, flats, chocolate, green tea, giant fortune cookies, chocolate covered fortune cookies...

They welcome you with a smile and a cookie sample. Can't wait to pick some up again

Love this place! If you re visiting San Francisco you must visit it. It s a very small shop in a narrow and little street and there s always a line to get in but it s totally worth it! You may have to wait a bit but waiting is good when it smells so good! Cookies are delicious!

Located in tiny Ross alley in the heart of Chinatown we stopped by the Golden Gate Fortune Cookie Factory to take a break from a long day of walking.

As expected you can smell the factory long before you see it and inside you can find a few people diligently churning out fortune cookies and adding messages.

The walls are lined with photos and memorabilia of people who have visited and I was surprised by how well trafficked it is.

We were able to have a sample cookie and took some pictures at the assembly line.

It smelled so good we ended up being home a small bag!

Don't forget to tip of you take a photo of the process. Let's keep this place alive!

I would highly recommend taking the time to visit. We took my 10 and 12 year old. They loved seeing how the cookies are made. They created their own fortune and made their own cookie. The owner is very kind and is trying his best to keep the business alive after four generations. Worth seeing!

Step into an alleyway in San Francisco if you dare. Cool experience that was small with XXX fortune cookies that did not seem to be written by someone speaking English as a first language. Hot sample cookies and cool but a little bit less of a large group experience.

It was a fun little experience. Very short you just go in watch a bit and leave. My friends and I bought some of the flavored tri color packs of Fortune cookies and really like the different flavors! They are delicious even though we aren't really a fan of Fortune cookies. They definitely taste different than your average one that comes with a takeout order.

I liked it, but much smaller than expected. You have to pay 50cents to take a photo of the lady making the cookies. Everyone has to make a buck I guess, but you should get a free photo with a purchase.

I always try to visit Golden Gate Fortune Cookie Factory when I'm in China Town. I've been enjoying the free samples and watching the workers fold cookies on the huge machines since I was a kid. When I get my bags of flat fortune cookies, it takes all the willpower I can muster to not eat the whole thing in a sitting. They are simply the most delicious fortune cookies you have ever had.

A place you have to visit when you're in china town. All the fortune cookies are made right in front of you and you can purchase bags of regular fortune cookies, reject fortune cookies (flat shaped) or fancy fortune cookies with chocolate drizzled on them. Its cash only!! They love to hand out samples too so even if you aren't looking to buy any, it's fun checking out the factory to see how they're made.

Really small and quaint shop, the cookies are made in front of you and if you're lucky the lovely old woman will let you have some of the broken ones! They take cash only so be sure to have it on you. As you can see in the images they have a variety of cookies and toppings.

A landmark place to visit. Informative to see how fortune cookies are made. Alley location makes you feel like you've stumbled across a hidden treasure. There is a fee for taking photos inside the location.

I don't like fortune cookies, so i want expecting much. First of all, it's TINY-- you're only allowed 4 feet past the door so don't expect a grand tour (that said, it's free). I wss amazed they still fold the cookies by hand! Also, the chocolate - dipped cookies are amazing!!! It's worth a stop if you're already in Chinatown.

THE best place to buy fortune cookies, not only the usual flavor, but also available in chocolate and strawberry. They also have wonderful almond cookies. Once you've tasted these exceptionally fresh cookies, all other fortune cookies will pale in comparison.

Free samples of fresh cookies and a great sales floor selection. Very neat to see the ladies working. I also got a free reusable bag with my purchase of a bag of cookies. These both make great souvenirs!

Really cool place. You can see how the cookies are made, get a bag of them in many different flavors, and even make your own custom fortune cookie messages.

Can be pretty busy so be prepared to wait in a little bit of a line.
