Worth a quick visit if you're visiting San Francisco. It was smaller than I expected. Go in to see people hand-shaping fortune cookies. They gave out a bunch of fresh (still warm!) fortune cookie flats (unshaped). Don't particularly like fortune cookies you get at restaurants, but they taste way better fresh. It's free to enter. You can buy small bags of fortune cookies (30 cookies) for $5. You can get regular, chocolate, or strawberry (or a mix). There are also gourmet fortune cookies (they were drizzled with icing).
Tiny place, free cookie samples. Can buy custom message cookies
It's a cool VERY small factory in a little alleyway in China town. You can write your own fortunes and have the ladies put them into a cookie for you.
This place is nifty - you can see how Fortune cookies are made, as well as make custom ones for your friends and family! If you're in SF Chinatown, you have to stop by this place. Make sure to try some of the flavored cookies, too! They have bags full of fortune cookie "chips", which are just as delicious and not as expensive.
The cookies are yummy. They gave us free samples that were fresh off of the line.
I don't think these are great cookies it just tastes me like ice cream cone biscuit nothing great to go for. If ur at china town can go for a visit , and I purchased a big packet
Fun place to visit. Watch them make fortune cookies. Free samples
If you ever wondered how fortune cookies are made, check this place out!
Yes, please, what's not to love... delicious cookies and a variety of flavors.
It's a quick stop, and often crowded, but I highly recommend it. It's so fun to watch the cookies being made, and yes, the fresh cookies are delicious!
Small little place. They sell different flavors of fortine cookies as well as flat ones. They're good! I like the chocolate ones.
took my grandson to see how those cookies were made, he was excited!
It's not everyday you visit a Fortune Cookie Factory. I'm sure 99% of fortune cookies are mechanically produced, so it's probably your only chance to see an artisanal production. - Owner always give free sample. - A full bag is about $5. Try a mix of classic and chocolate. - They have "adult" cookie sayings, if you dare ;)
In the heart of Chinatown, the fortune cookie factory offers a dollar that you put the message you want. It is a fleeting look at the artisanal way as those cookies that were really created in the United States are prepared.
It's cool, very small. The machines are interesting. Give them a tip.
Loved it, kids will love it. Packing fortune by hand. They were very friendly with lots of samples.
Glad it opened at 9am today to buy some more before our journey to the airport. Friendly staff and very good fortune cookies!
Delishious cookies, they have a really good flavor and people there are so nice to you. Great place to visit!
My favorite fortune cookie place in SF!!! sooooo yummy!!!!! I usually swing by when I'm in the neighborhood!!! mmmmmm
Great place to visit while in the city, awesome to see how fortune cookies are made! Staff is friendly and you can't beat the prices.
Great, 1 Chinese fortune cookie manufacturing workshop, if you are in San Francisco and stroll through the Chinatown, do not forget to go back to the past, as well as very friendly staff
Help! I'm being held captive in a fortune cookie factory! I always say that so I just had to go. The folks were so nice and friendly and the cookies were fantastic. Such a fun spot to duck into for a few minutes. Also cool to see how the cookies are made.
Tiny place but great idea to do your custom fortune cookie and create a creative present fir your loved ones.
First factory of Chinese cookies of luck A must see when you are in San Francisco Thanks to our guide for making us discover this factory
A delightful stop in the middle of a day walking around San Francisco. Friendly staff, sweet sugary cookies, you can get them fresh din the iron. They have different flavors and more adult cookie messages if you are interested. They will also customize messages.
To call a factory place is a bit of an exaggeration. This is a store selling fortune cookies and you can see two girls sitting and making lucky cookies. Spend a maximum of 2 minutes persuading you to buy fortune cookies, which you probably would not do otherwise. However, a nice and unconventional experience, and if you are in the Chinese Quarter - then worth seeing.
The best experience :) lovely people. And the cookies are really good
I was very impressed by the smells and the variety. I never knew that chocolate covered fortune cookies existed! Delicious.
Promised a tour, not much of one. Everything in storefront.
it's a tiny place, I loved that I could write a message in a little piece of paper and they put it into a cookie. if you have a lover or a close friend you must try to give a present like a personalized cookie!
Cool little spot. About as original as they come. Not a particularly friendly place and it's very cramped even without the swaths of tourists. Kind of get in and get out, but it's historic and makes good fortune cookies. Well worth a minute of your time if in the area.
Hand made fortune cookies are soooo good. Especially warm and fresh
Coolest little place in San Fran... must see and must experience
We could not enter because of the amount of people there were. The line is very long.
cute little hole in the wall spot. they sell different varieties of fortune cookies and they give you a fresh sample while your in there.
One of the last authentic fortune cookie factories left. By default you almost have to give them five stars, not only because they are the last of a dying breed, but because the fortune cookies are actually very, very good. The plain ones also are still pretty affordable, even more so when you consider just how insane rent is in San Francisco these days. Honestly I am not enough of a fortune cookie devotee to truly appreciate just how rare a gem this place is.
1st time here. And it was interesting to see, and delicious
WOWZERS! What a cool place! We came here on a field trip with my sons 6th grade class. It is hidden in a busy alley across from a florist. It is a tight squeeze for a large group, so we didn t get a chance to look around. They offered us free cookies to try and showed us how the cookies are made. Pretty cool place. Check it out
great spot to visit if your in sf...takes you back to the historic days of the city. plus the cookies are delicious. A must for all tourists and locals.
This places is cool. They let you sample, take photos and see the process of making. This is a very small space in the alley of china town. Buy something, it s so tasty and they have SO many flavors, including green tea!
Well worth a visit. The cookies taste really good. However don't buy the adult themed ones. They are neither funny nor sexy.
I've been coming to the Fortune Cookie Factory since I was a kid, so coming here as an adult brings back fond memories. The shop itself is small, and there is usually a line out the door. Don't worry since the line usually goes quick. The inside is small with a limited selection of fortune cookies to buy. It is very much a "get in, buy your stuff and leave" kind of place. It is neat to see them make the cookies in front of you, but it's also pretty warm in there. I recommend getting the chocolate dipped cookies!
Freshly made fortune cookies - awesome! Dude raking said fortune cookies with his bare hands in a giant bin - why?
Small and cramped. It's kinda cool seeing 1 woman hand making thousands of fortune cookies throughout the coarse of the day. The place smells great and they offer free samples, but charge you if you want to take a picture. You can get personalized fortune cookies for a small fee. Write your note, give them to the lady and she'll make your personalized cookie on the spot.
What a great experience and treat. Neat to see how something you take for granted is created.
Such fun. Never knew that fortune cookies can be purchased flat before folded and are so crispy and good when so hot and fresh.
Really friendly staff. Fun hideaway store in an alley. Absolute must stop to take visitors.
If you like fortune cookies, then come on, go here, have a fortune cookie or 20 here. It's what they do.
We stopped there with a free tour and it was a nice experience. Our guide said that they've got "adult" fortune cookies that could be interesting to have a good time.
Great tourist spot! They even got my fortune right, I did have a nice day!
Neat little place to visit, see how the cookies are made and buy a bag of cookies... This place is a piece of history, I've been visiting it for the last 30 years.
Historical place with the best fortune cookies that are still hand wrapped. These cookies are light and crisp with a strong vanilla eggy taste from a secret family recipe. Not the leaden ones we often get that are mass factory produced at many restaurants. Go buy a big bag. Or six. Because they are so addictive and easily scarfed down!
I don't like to eat fortune cookies, but these are totally different. I purchased an extra "oops" bag and ate those while I walked around Chinatown and they were delicious!
A great way to spend 2 minutes of your life if you're in the chinatown area as you get to see how just a few men/women hand roll a lot of fortune cookies in rapid succession. You can also pick up a rather large bag of cookies for cheap, as well as get chocolate cookies which I've not seen too often.
I really liked this place. Nice place to stop when shopping in Chinatown. There was a long line, but it was fun anyways. It was a nice sunny day when we went, not real SF weather. There is nothing like fresh fortune cookies. Best of all, all was good for me when I read my day.,
Less than spectacular, not much of a factory.. still fun for the girls.
One of the must visit places in Chinatown. The staff is so friendly. They give the sample for taste. The lines will be long but be patient it s worth wait. They have various varieties of cookies. They do have the chocolate cookies.
Unfortunately we were there just before closing time but it was interesting.
False advertising. It says we a get a tour of the place. We show up & we have to make line to get it but by the time you get to the door way you see the tour your getting. NOTHING! It was a waste of time!!!
Free cookies, more to buy, friendly people, and a great scent. There's usually a line, but it moves quickly.
Small, hidden gem! Delicious warm broken fortune cookies
It is very curious to see how they make cookies, and you can also buy them at a good price. They are good.
Amazing spot to witness hard work, and truly kind people. Yes this has become a tourist destination and it does get packed. So I read reviews and decided to get there early. They allowed me to film and take pics. They gave me samples and I also supported them by buying some cookies that were delicious and reasonably priced. I assumed i would tip them. They didn t ask me for anything but I provided it. Who wants to be taken photos of without compensation? Not me. Anyhow, google this spot and follow directions there. Enjoy.
Good for a one time visit for tourists if you are walking nearby. We can see how they are making cookies and buy them too. But they don't have enough assortments. Chocolate and Strawberry Fortune cookies are not available as a single assortment.
Pretty cool! Theres a line but as You wait You get samples. They have different flavors. You get to shop decent priced cookies as souvenirs and write your own fortune. They have x- rated fortunes too for any bachelor(ette) parties interested. Very nice.
These two ladies crank put 20,000 cookies a day. A buck to get in, and for another buck, you can put a personal message in ine.
A variety of flavors of fortune cookirs. An opportunity to see people making them. Out of town elementary school age children loved it
Original china town place, worth visiting. Make your own fortune cookie for just $1
I loved coming here last weekend, great place and great staff and great products.
This place is off the beaten path for tourists, but was interesting. There isn't much to the factory. It's just two women folding cookies in the middle of a VERY small shop. You get offered a free sample when you walk in, which was delicious. They also have a variety of flavors for you to try for a small fee.
First off, do not wait in a long line.....it's not worth it. overpriced fortune cookies, sample of a broken cookie..... it's just not that exciting. but if there is no line, and you're in the area......check it out.
Stopped in here because TAR S30 filmed part of the finale in this shop. Truly fun to see fortune cookies being made. And they're yummy too
It's a very small store and they make the fortune cookies in the store itself. They have a ton of fortune cookie merchandise. You can also write your own note and they will put it on the fortune cookies for $1.50 for 2 fortune cookies.
Small, fast, friendly and they give away a lot of samples. Create your own fortune cookies!
A hidden treasure in San Francisco! This is where the fortune cookie was invented. Located on a narrow alley way in Chinatown, this little hole in the wall factory gives its visitors a glimpse into the making of this famous treat. FYI - They'll expect a monetary tip if you take a picture, but it will also get you a piping warm fortune cookie off the press :-)
This small shop is in a alley, when you enter they will offer you to try some. I brought one packet and they gave more free sample. Very generous! Create your own fortune cookie in a little fortune cookie box at just $1 for 1 or 2 for $1.50
Difficult to find, but when you arrive you are given freshly cracked biscuit
