Very small place with no room to move about. Very unfriendly lady at door who is cashier... assuming maybe owner (young lady). Charges 50 cents to take photo inside, yes, you read that correctly...with your own phone or camera. If not for the friendly old lady making the fortune cookies and the taste of the cookies... I'd give lowest star. Never coming again.

Cute, but small bakery / store. They do give you warm cookies fresh off of the line if you purchase any other cookies. If you take pictures, they do request a $1 tip. The location is in an alley off of the main streets, so it may be a little difficult to track down. The attendant and people folding the dough as it came off of the hot press were very courteous and open to questions as far as the process of making the cookies as well as the final products and distribution of the fortune cookies. They do have a selection of either average fortunes printed on paper in the inside, or adult only fortunes printed on the paper on the inside of the cookies, so be sure not to purchase the adult themed cookies if you have young people that are going to be consuming the cookies and reading the fortunes. This is a stop that is well worth it if you are in Chinatown in the San Francisco area. The warm cookies that they hand you fresh off the line are alone worth the trip. Overall, very small sight to see, but they do produce a delicious cookie with fun and interesting fortunes, either in the adult or family friendly version. Again, well worth the trip.

All I can say is, this place smells divine! I had no idea how fortune cookies were made until I walked into this hidden factory and saw a little women stooped over in a chair, carefully and expertly molding the fresh, warm, biscuit flats into perfectly folded fortune cookies. You pay like 50 cents (?) to take a photo and they end up also giving you a bunch of flat cookies and fortune cookies for free. Lol, I also bought a jumbo bag of assorted fortune cookies (chocolate, almond, regular) for like $4 and had no problem gobbling them up during the remainder of my trip. If you're in the area, highly recommend you check this place out!

This is a little fortune Cookie factory in Ross Alley in San Francisco China town. If you are visiting china town worth visiting this place. place attracts quite a few visitors. They allow 10 people at a time, when it gets busy. Fresh cookies are definitely tastier. Place is filled with pictures of many celebrities who have visited this place. Very impressive to watch how they make fortune cookies with hand.

I didn't have to wait long to get to see the cookies being made, but it's an active factory, so I barely got to look. They keep the line moving! I liked that they gave you one right off the line! And that they had flavors to buy. It was a fun stop. I'm glad I went. I just wish I could have looked around a little more.

It awesome to see these ladies making fortune cookies with their own hand in an automatized fabrication time. The chocolate fortune cookies were not that good, the regular ones were...well, regular fortune cookies. I think the prices are a little high because of the attention it draws

This was a super quaint, fun spot. As real as it gets with great flavors such as greentree tea and strawberry. They also have chocolate dipped. If you are walking down the alley and think you missed it just keep going to the end. You haven't missed it. There's no sign but the smell will attract you. Free samples, but your own fortune in a cookie or buy a giant fortune cookie.

You can watch how the cookies are made or buy some for yourself. Sometimes they pass out free samples. If you wait on line (usually 10-20 minutes) you can write a fortune yourself and they can place it in a cookie for you for a small fee.

Amazing little place. Just sitting in an ally next to an old school barber shop. Best place to get fortune cookies and cheep as heck ($3-4 a bag). Neat to see them making the cookies. A must see if you go to China Town.

I have been stopping by here for about 27 years, each time I go to Chinatown to pick up fresh made Fortune cookies. Although the appearance of the shop has changed through the years, the absolute quality and taste has stayed perfectly untouched. I really recommend this little piece of history and also suggest a bag each of the regular flavor as well as the chocolate. Most people think of the terrible cellophane wrapped cookie for an ending to a Chinese meal and would just want to skip this gem, but their cookies are on a higher, heavenly plane if you ask me. No comparison and getting to see the cookies being made is the cherry on top of the experience.

Basically, you get in the single file line, grab the cookies that you want and pay for them. There's a variety of different flavors and toppings that come prepackaged. You can also create your own custom cookies and box.

In the heart of Chinatown and in a back alley so you could easily miss this place. You wouldn't want to though because it is very interesting to watch them make fortune cookies and purchase a bag.

Neat place that shows how fortune cookies are made. The are produced right in front of you. If you are in the neighborhood, this is worth a quick stop to check it out. I would have included a picture, but it would have cost me 50 cents haha..

For a neat SF Chinatown experience, don t miss this little fortune cookie factory. It s in an alley so don t miss it walking down the street. Small space inside but you actually see how fortune cookies are made. Plus remember to buy some and figure out how to not crush them if you are traveling home!

Waited in line to get in which really wasn't worth it. It is super tiny inside and crowded. The fortune cookies looked a lot better than they tasted, bought 1 bag as a souvenir to take back home and realized when getting to the hotel the back was busted at the seam. Stop by if there isn't a line- otherwise skip it!

Visited this on 4th July, so that can be the reason of bad experience. But I expected them to show how fortune cookie is made and let us customize the message in it.
What actually happened was we stood in a long queue for 20 mins and in the end they were just selling the cookies and that too in a hurry. Didn't give any time to decide and choose.

This is an old time favorite. I was shocked at the line out the door on a Saturday. Social media and maps within the Chinatown corridor has changed the walking traffic among the gems in the community. I went back early the next day for my stash of fortune cookies and walked out with a bag of cookies for the trip home and some for friends.

These are freshly made fortune cookies are still my favorite. There are packaged flavored fortune cookies: strawberry, green tea mixed in with their original fortune cookies. And the flat cookies chips in small and large sizes.
It's amazing old school process of making fortune cookies. Tasty and crisp fortune cookies.
