My experience in the ER was horrible. My nurse ignored me and was rude when she would answer. The ER was very busy but patients should not be treated harshly. Once I was admitted to the 3rd floor, the Nurses were Awesome and during my -5 day stay after surgery...I was very pleased with the Nursing staff.

My experience at FWBMC on 11-16-2015 has been less...

My experience at FWBMC on 11-16-2015 has been less than expected. I arrived at 6 AM, during the check in process discovered that they had the wrong spelling of her last name, wrong date of birth and wrong social security number in the system for my wife who was scheduled for Hernia surgery that day. After correcting all the information She was taken into the area to get her ready for surgery. I was with her in the room.

After changing into a paper gown the in processing started. I had provided the staff with papers from her family doctor, Dr. brooks, who requested information from blood work. The Hospital was supposed to do some lab work prior to surgery, as far as I know none was done and definitely no information was shared with Dr. brooks. Every one was more concerned about having their chart completed than with the patient.

When the assistance o f the anesthesiologist came into the there were no comfortable comments, only questions to complete the chart. When the anesthesiologist came into the room he said absolutely nothing to my wife reassuring her the the will be at her side during the surgery. I find his action to be RUDE and not caring. Just prior to taking her to the operating room the Nurse asked me for contact phone number and informed me that she would call and provide update about every hour or so.

I received one call at about 8:45 AM advising me that the surgery has started. I was in the surgery waiting room all the time from 8:30 AM to 2:15 PM when a hospital employee came into the waiting room, stated my wife's first name, I looked up and she told me " your wife is in room 423" during the entire procedure I never received any update. Since I'm blind I could not read the screen indicating patient status and the nurses have known this prior to. The communication is the WORST I had ever experienced.

The nursing staff was good on the ward and the surgeon Dr. Christopher Dress was great.

The hospital patient protocol data needs to be updated to include the need to check function of pain pump implanted into patient. My wife had one for the entire time she was hospitalized , it was 10 days and no one has checked to see if it's working, well after three weeks in the doctors office we were advised that the container was still full and no pain medication was administered during the period. This is Unacceptable treatment.

I highly recommend Dr. dress and his staff, but I hope nobody has to experience the poor communication and lack of care for patients and their family.

I went to the "New" Emergency Room yesterday and was put in one of the back chairs (the most uncomfortable chairs for sick people) and sat there for 6 hours. Sitting with patients lined up in the hallway I was asked personal questions by a very nice PA (no privacy) in front of everyone else. What happened to HIPPA privacy laws? While I did speak to the PA and nice nurses and had blood work done and Xray's taken during that time, I NEVER once was attended to by a doctor. Granted the ER is a very busy place right after Christmas, but I watched patient after patient all around me seen by a doctor, but one never came and saw me. I think my money (or my Insurance company's) is as good as the next person's. I went to the ER to see a Doctor.

I m sitting in the er right now to find out if I am losing my baby or if I have an ectopic pregnancy and they are not letting my minor daughter back here with me. I also don t want to be told any personal info in front of everyone. This is ridiculous. The lady the took my blood was nice but the one that brought me back was really rude.

I spent the majority of my youth visiting my great grandmother, my grandmother, aunts, and sometimes my mother in hospitals between Mississippi and South Carolina. I have NEVER seen a hospital so well run and staffed as Fort Walton Beach Medical Center! I broke and dislocated my ankle the day after Christmas 2019, and I came here for treatment. Every. Single. Person. Who I came into contact with was professional, knew his or her job and did it thoroughly, and was extremely pleasant and understanding! The room I stayed in while awaiting surgery was warm and quiet, and nurses weren't in and out all times of the night waking me up like in other hospitals! The staff at FWBMC really made the best out of my tragedy and kept me smiling! Great job and thank you very much to every single person in duty that night and the next morning who took care of me! I hope I never have to visit an emergency room again, but if I do, I want it to be this one!

I don't know why such a low review on this Center but I cannot say enough about how I was treated here. I came here to the ER shortly before 11am on Monday,Feb 18 2019 for severe pain in my right leg and with no mobility. I was seen right away as there was no wait and treated with compassion by the nurse and the nurse practitioner. From the man who helped me at the front desk to the gal who came to register me, all were friendly and very professional.
I received treatment with a steroid injection and another for inflammation. The nurse who attended me was kind and helped accommodate my lack of mobility.
The facility was clean , modern
and well staffed. Thank you to all who helped me.
I also had an MRI done at Outpatient on
Feb. 26. Same courteous staff. Immaculate facility.Only complaint is I had to wait an hour for an appt. scheduled for 10:15am.Also, because I was limited in my mobility, I received
no assistance in getting on to the table to enter MRI. It was a little high for me, which was difficult. If that table adjusts,it should be. If not, some sort of step or stool. But,on the whole ,being from out of town, definitely feel comfortable here. Great care

Thorocentesis scheduled at :1:00. Been here since 10:30 because we were told to be here at that time. Waited in outpatient since 11:10. Dr just walked in to perform the procedure. We love this hospital but this is unacceptable. My mother was not allowed to have anything to drink or eat since the night before. If we have another procedure done we will be here a half hour before the procedure and no more. Even nurses agree that scheduling is bad.

The ER staff overall was fantastic. However, I left there feeling less secure in my health with even more questions! They ran blood and urine tests as well as an EKG because I was having cardiac event symptoms. All tests showed heart was good and they sent me home.

Then I get the tests results online for my visit. They show that my kidneys are not working properly and my blood glucose level was low. I have since done 2 surveys from the hospital where I reported I need to talk to someone about those results as well as called and requested to speak to someone.

They don t care to find out what is actually wrong so what is the point in their job? If everyone new exactly what was wrong with them there wouldn t be doctors. Just because I thought it was a heart issue doesn t mean that s the only thing that should be looked at. When test results show improperly functioning organs shouldn t they be explored to see why or to what degree? Thanks for nothing FWBMC!

I had an emergency room visit earlier this month. I have severe anxiety and do not handle medical issues well. I dread appointments for this reason. I was treated SO compassionately the entire visit to the ER. From the man who signed me in, to the doctor and nurses who treated me, the personnel in the testing room, and even the insurance and discharge personnel, it was a positive experience, all things considered. I cannot say enough about Dr. Davidson. He took what could have been a terrifying experience and immediately gained my trust. He was extremely thorough and went above and beyond.

I hate to leave a bad review...especially when my opinion is strongly related to the experience of my ER Nurse. Greeting at check-in was good, called in pretty quickly, triage staff was great...area seemed a bit unplanned. After making it back into a treatment room..things went south. I had just experienced the most amazing hospital stay a week and a half earlier..so perhaps my expectations where elevated...but, no "bedside manner" from my nurse. They where treating me for a fever (a concern after my heart ablation procedure performed at my home state hospital). The ONLY time they took my temperature was in triage. I felt like just another "job"...did not feel like I was in the best of concern. When I started having a reaction to antibiotics....it took a while for my wife to hunt down the nurse. Unless my life was in immediate danger...I would try to find another hospital before going here again.

This place should be shut down but the state. My wife came in here when she was very ill. They took her blood pressure, asked her if she was going to hurt herself. Then put her out on the street. Her condition could have been fatal. I returned the next day and we dealt with it. $300. for a blood pressure test and an incompetent mental health professional. This place is a disgrace and a rip off. Believe all the 1 star reviews. Stay away.

This hospital doesn't even deserve a one star rating. My husband was admitted to the hospital thru the ER Saturday night at 11:30 pm, it is now 7:20 pm Sunday night and has yet to be put in a room, besides that, his cancer doctor came to visit him mid afternoon today and ordered a blood transfusion, and that has yet to happen - it is 7:30 pm. I called the hospital for the advocate for patient care and was given to the Supervisor of the ER's, voice mail. ummm. Par for the course. On top of that, early this morning around 1:30 ish am, they ordered a MRI, the nurse said they don't do MRI's on Sundays, really? Said the ER doctor probably doesn't know that....he did have one around 12:30 this afternoon with results in around 1:45 pm. Once my husband gets released hopefully tomorrow, we will be visiting Twin Cities or Sacred Heart next time!

I was sent from Panama City because they had a trauma center. I had cut my fingers on a table saw and the doctor here thought it would be best to have a hand surgeon check it. I arrived and they said the hand surgeon was not answering his phone. He was supposed to see me on Friday which didn't happen. The nurses were very good but not one person looked at my fingers. I would not go there again if I have a choice. The hand doctors office called on Monday to make an appointment. What a joke. The doctors at this hospital think they are God's gift to medicine. I will have to have surgery later because the hand surgeon i saw at Sacred heart in Pensacola told me surgery should have been done within 12 hours.

My experience was great! From checking in with Out Patient, Jesus, was professional, providing each person with an extreme level of kindness. He was polite, soft spoken never losing sight of the task at hand.
The nurses were also on point taking great care to make sure I was comfortable. After surgery, while in recovery, the nurses also worked to make sure I wasn't in pain. Great Job to everyone!

ER staff and Doctors were amazing during one if my visits for Tortacollus and TIA stroke. I was taken to ER by ambulance. I was treated with respect & dignity by all! The wait was less than 10 minutes.
Dr Creche listened to me, which is huge imo. He was compassionate, empathetic & personabl . Nurse Leader Amy was exactly the same.
I went in with pain issues... I feared I'd be treated like a "drug seeker" rather than a legitimate patient. That couldn't have been farther from the truth.
My experience was flawless.

My surgery, treatment and experienced at Fort Walton Medical Center on December 18th and 19 2019 is rated as excellent. Dr. Silver, his staff as well as the personnel at the Medical Center could not have been more diligent in making me feel safe and comfortable. I am honored to have been a patient of Dr. Mitchell Silver and fully trust his surgical skills. I am recovering quite well and owe that to all who helped me through this surgical process.

The absolute worst hospital I have ever encountere...

The absolute worst hospital I have ever encountered. Wife miscarriaged and I accidentally ingested a deadly chemical and we both went to the ER. They put us both in the same hospital room, where the solution for me was to "call poison control" (which took 3 and a half hours). We were then lied to about numerous things while the staff did absolutely nothing but play on their phones while my wife bled extremely large amounts for 3 hours on their waiting room floor. We eventually got so irritated with them literally doing absolutely NOTHING to help either one of us from 7PM to nearly Midnight without any contact from any staff member except to lie about the reason they collected our Urine sample, that we left bleeding and walking out the door to go to a different hospital. 3 weeks later we received a $5,000 bill in the mail saying we both saw doctors and received "level 3 medical care" while neither of us even had a blood pressure cuff put on us, let alone any medical attention whatsoever. This hospital is an absolute joke. To any vacationers in the area, all the locals are already aware that this hospital is a comic book, take your family to Sacred Heart in Destin or Twin Cities in Niceville. In case of emergency, they will die at this hospital to put it bluntly.

To the ER last night for a family member with chest pain and breathing problems. Went to FWB because wait time said 13 mins. We waited for several hours, but we also understand they had higher priority medicals come in via EMS so no complaints there. Facility was clean. Vending machine ate money, but that s a low priority on a full moon night. Our personal nurse, Jake, was amazing. He is talented, knowledgeable, and personable. Front desk nurse was very kind and worked her tail off from 9:30-3:30 while we were there. Don t let those two go! Watched one nurse spend more time rudely telling a customer about 10 times why she couldn t call her a cab because she had more important things going on, which may have been true, but she could have made the call in faster time than it took to humiliate that patient. Also, watched her stand around chatting with the other nurses at the station right after about catty things (yes, I could hear them as we were next to them) and making sure everyone knew she was the alpha lol. All in all, a good visit. Happy to see the facility shaping up. Female Dr. on duty was super friendly and efficient yet patient with a difficult patient resulting in him being pleased. Thank you Jake!!

My brother had surgery this morning and was moved to the Med/surgery floor (4th floor). The room was very dirty...linens in the linen basket, a full trash can, and an assortment of debris on the floor. If this is extra clean due to Covid standards, I would hate to see what it would look before Covid standards. And they changed his room because the other one wasn t clean!!!

Brought my 7 year old son to the ER (his very first time) bc he fell off the monkey bars onto his arm while we are here visiting for vacation. He was very scared. Every single staff member, including the physician, we encountered was so kind! They all joked with him and took time to make conversation with him! This made him relax and feel much more comfortable! We were there around 4hr from beginning to end but it was obvious there were several traumas. We were thankful we were just there for something minor and didn't need immediate attention. Thank you FWBMC!

In and out in under one hour! 1am run to the pediatric ER with a 104.6 temp (ear infection). Granted, they were not busy but often that does not appear to matter at some ERs. Family reunion at Destin and ER visits to Ft Walton x2 including a 4am squad run with one of the elders high blood pressure who also received excellent care during his 22 hour hospital stay at Ft Walton. The family also had the opportunity to visit the Destin Sacred Heart ER with another elder whose care there was also pretty good though much slower (busier time of day? in the late afternoon on a Saturday.

Terrible patient care. This hospital had no beds available, and rather than transferring patients to other hospitals, they just stacked us up in the hallways. I came in through the ER by ambulance, and after being given an ER room for several hours, with no explanation or communication from the physician, I was admitted as an inpatient and moved into a hallway, on an ER stretcher, with no call light, and no privacy. When I asked to be transferred, I was told that they could transfer me via ambulance but that I would have to pay all expenses out of pocket. when I asked to be discharged to travel home to see my personal physician, I was told the trauma surgeon wouldn't release me because I needed a surgical consult. The surgeon never came to speak to me about this plan. I had to ask for the CMO and threaten to call Joint Commission to file a complaint to finally get a discharge order. I hope I never have to set foot in this hospital again.

Went in with severe abdominal pain. Signed in at an electronic kiosk. Waited 1hr and was never acknowledged. I understand being busy, but the staff was unfriendly and condescending to the people they were talking to. I've been to this one many times over the years, and I've also been to Sacred Heart in Pensacola a few times over the years. Employees are night and day difference. They're friendly, the place is cleaner, the culture is caring and positive. FWB ER has been consistently poor over the years. If possible, the drive elsewhere is probably worth it. They've never achieved for me, the level of service other ER's do

I appreciate you guys making me feel like a burden with how you insensitively treated me after you found out I had no insurance at least, that s seriously what it seemed like. I really needed antibiotics intravenously from an infection I had been fighting for almost 3 days and was so lethargic with a foggy head I almost fell asleep every time I shut my eyes. I was told I was not bad off enough to receive them mind you I had to return back to work because that s where I came from and could not afford to take off another night. Needless to say it was a severe struggle and it would have been so much better if I was pumped w antibiotics . but I guess what do you expect from a hospital w a 2.7 rating? I ve heard of these problems before and now have experienced it myself and honestly you can save your apologies if you were to reply to this because you aren t going to fix this problem obviously bc no action has been taken so far.. y all seriously need to get rid of most likely more than half your staff and start over w I d hope, legitimate caring selfless people

I don't even give them one star but there isn't a choice! Absolute worst ER ever! I laid on a gurney in the hallway freezing for three hours holding a cup of my own urine! I went here yesterday to the emergency room because I fell of a ladder and braced my self with my hands and I believe I caused my tendonitis to come back in my palms. After waiting patiently for 2.5 hours... this is an emergency room right... they bring me to a hallway not a room and tell me to ice and elevate it. Are you serious do you think I am stupid I'm not a baby I don't go to the doctors unless I'm really in pain I wouldn't want to take up there time for a boo boo. It didn't seem like the lady wanted to help she just was trying to get people out of there. Basically they want to get paid to tell you to suck it up. Well now today I can't close my hand and ill have to go see my regular doctor who is only open Mon thru Fri thanks Fort walton beach ER. This should make you think twice about going here while I was waiting for 2.5hrs there was a lady who came in having problems or whatever and she starts having a seizure right behind me i turn around to look there are nurses looking out of the peep window by the desk there are people by doors and none of them rush over to help instead a random man runs over and after he sees what I see all the nurses looking in aww he says please someone help and another nurse tells him like it's no big deal oh so and so is coming.. as a front desk nurse walls through the entrance. Are you kidding me these people are sad ill die before I ever go back there.

I had hernia surgery at the Outpatient Clinic a couple of months ago. I didn't like having to sign consent forms for procedures such as catheterization when I was on my back ready to go into the Operating Room. Following hernia surgery, I had problems which ended up requiring the nurse to catheterize me again and send me home. I know that the nurse wasn't happy about working overtime on my behalf because I overheard her side of a phone conversation from my bed. My doctor/surgeon pointed out that she didn't anchor my catheter to my thigh which resulted in a great deal of discomfort for the next 24 hours, until he removed it at his office. I received no verbal post operation instructions from the discharging nurse and I didn't even know that I had written instructions until 3 days later when I received a phone call from the clinic checking on my condition. I found the post-op instructions in a stack of papers I brought back from the hospital, without knowing I had them. For me, the entire surgery experience was 100 percent negative in every respect.

I was taken by EMS from North Okaloosa Hospital in Crestview, to Ft Walton Beach Medical Center. I had fallen and fractured my Lumbar 1 vertebra and needed an MRI, which was not available at North Okaloosa. I was received in Trauma One. Throughout my 24 hour stay the staff, Doctors, Nurses and Auxiliary Staff could not have been kinder. Unfortunately The hospital was full and no beds were available, so I, along with many other patients, had to remain in the Emergency Room on a gurney. This was not an ideal situation at all. I was, in fact, meant to stay another night in order to receive a procedure which would alleviated the back pain I was suffering. I could not face another night on a gurney and elected to leave. Something I am greatly regretting now. Had I been admitted to a hospital room I would have been happy to stay. Obviously I would like to see this problem on no beds in the hospital fixed. Again, all the staff were wonderful and I was very well treated under the circumstances.

Dr was unable to get information needed still waiting over six hours I would have drove myself and brought the info back several hrs ago. The equipment is old and needs replaced alarms go off almost continuous and they ignore them.

Very dissatisfied. Got zero answers, suggestions. Very unprofessional and unpleasant. Zero answers, however, guarantee I'll receive a huge bill for services I did not receive. Zero stars..no option for that unfortunately

Real name, Bill Wink.

Real name, Bill Wink.
I was on an aircraft about to lift off when I had a very unexpected syncopal episode. After recovering I was transported by ambulance to Ft Walton Beach Hospital. I was seen immediately in the ER and appropriate tests were given. Dr Zachary Wilson was excellent; he listened and figured things out. I left within two hours under my own power.
Nurse Corey was attentive and knowledgeable. He helped us get an Uber and used his own account (which we reimbursed him for). He and Zachary went above and beyond and for that we are grateful.
I m a retired CRNA so I KNOW hospitals and can tell when things are run well.
Things were run well that morning and I was impressed.

I am SO VERY PLEASED with the help my sister has received here! The nursing staff, as a whole, has gone far and above their duties - and Well Beyond my expectations; Tammy, her day-nurse in Particular - Thank You, Tammy , we should all Pray to be blessed with a Nurse of your Caliber during our hospital stay!
I have grown accustomed to the hospitals in my hometown - and because of the discrepancy in staff and rooms in our area due to Cat 5 Hurricane Michael my sister had to be life-flighted to Ft Walton Beach Medical Center - where we ve been treated as tho we were in a Luxury Hotel - so to speak!
Hope I m making sense here - just a wee bit tired!

Are some of the staff OK, yes. Did they keep my daughter alive, yes. Did they bill me over 50,000 dollars for 4 days, yes. Insurance did pick up a lot of it. But most of the bills I got were less when they thought I didn't have insurance. Not their fault technically, that's our healthcare/insurance system. They did some unnecessary procedures and it definitely seemed like the staff were not trained to deal with infants, even in pediatrics. Their hospital group has some of the highest charges in the country. Look it up, it is true.
