Visited Foothills Brewery for my Dads birthday on a Sunday for lunch. It was the perfect spot. My family and I had a great time. The staff was very friendly and helpful with any food or drink suggestions. The menu is great, not your typical brewery food. They also have other drink selections if you are not wanting beer. Large place with plenty of seating. Great location.

Handmade and unique goods made by local Winston-Salem merchants. Some items can really only be found here in Winston-Salem. A good uniquely Winston-Salem store.
Good burgers, but this place can get very loud and hard to here people with you. However you can get food delivered to your house through 3rd party services.
Great brewery, slightly above average bar food. Great atmosphere. Friday night after 11 PM kind of a train wreck in my opinion, however some may find it interesting.
If I could give it 100 stars, I would. Husband and I went here while we visited from Ohio, went thirty minutes out of the way, and it was ABSOLUTELY worth it. I got the Jade IPA. It was hoppy, fruity, and delicious. He got the coffee stout, and it definitely tasted like straight up coffee. We got beer cheese pretzels. While the pretzels were just fine, the beer cheese was out of this world. We also got the smoked platter. We didn't taste the slaw, but the wings were amazing, the sausage was fantastic dipped in a little bit of cheese, and the Mac n Cheese was MVP. The bacon wrapped meatballs were dry and didn't have much flavor. We loved the wait staff, even for a Saturday. Heather was our waitress, and she was amazing! She is very attentive and personable. If you want a well-priced lunch or dinner, make the trip. It's worth it.
I went to Foothills for first time with a franchise management team. It was a company event and was paid for by the owner of the company. While my food was not hot, there was like 25 of us and we were given excellent service. I went back with a couple friends and while the food was great the service was not. We were ignored and rushed out. For the money we spent between the 4 of us I did not appreciate that. I am not crazy about the beers they carry because they are very "hoppy." With that being said... we can get awesome "pub grub" in many places. I probably won't be back.
Fantastic beer and a gorgeous pub, this is a comfortable place to stop for beer. I'm so proud of Foothills' success distributing beer so I can buy it at my local grocery store, too.
The pub's food menu has the usual suspects, but their kitchen's version of them is better that most. Everything is well prepared and delicious. I love this place.
We have always love foothills for their service, beer, and food. We recently hosted our rehearsal dinner at Foothills and I have to say they went above and beyond! They made us feel so special with the customized menus that featured our names, plus a large chalkboard sign that was drawn in our honor. The waitresses were dedicated to our party, were very friendly, and didn t mind at all when we wanted to rearrange tables. Thank you guys so much for a great experience! Whether you re looking for a fun happy hour joint downtown that brews local craft beer or a restaurant with great food to host a party, Foothills is your place!
My wife and I wanted to take a drive when we both had the day off. We also wanted to take the dog with us. So, I called ahead to see if they had outside seating. The lady on the phone was very nice and the drive took about 45 minutes. The staff was helpful and the floor was fantastic. We were able to have a nice, leisurely lunch and our dog was able to enjoy the time as well. We will definitely return as this is a great place for a vegan burger.
Went today (a Sunday) with my son, a friend from college and his wife. They weren t busy yet we had to wait a while to get help for a table. The table was cleaned off with a rag... no spray... food took an unnecessarily long time given that there were very few people there. My friend ordered his burger medium, it was well done, by fries were cold... waiter was no where to be found. Bad experience all around. I m giving two stars bc the food was edible.
I am a big fan of Foothills beer, and I finally got to experience their pub in Winston Salem. I wasn't disappointed. service was good, and the food was fantastic to be paired with the beer.
Get the Sexual Chocolate while it's still available... and their food is incredible too... Jade IPA and Seeing Double also incredible beers. Beer battered mushrooms are THE BEST!
This is a great restaurant in downtown Winston Salem enjoyed it and get the fish and chips on certain days its 7.99 with a big portion and great sauce with it..good prices and great atmosphere
Been a couple of times and have not been able to put my faith in the quality of food from one time to the next. Or the portions. One time its "Wow, look at those nachos" and the next its "what the..? a handful of stale chips? Really?" I have had 2 out of 3 good hamburgers. I go less and less often...
Year after year, this remains a Winston-Salem favorite. Low key atmosphere, delicious brews (which I encourage you to branch out of your comfort zone and sample), and bar food that makes you want to cheat on your diet. The black bean burger with gouda was awesome. The mac and cheese is creamy and ooey-goey goodness that'll leave you wanting more.
Arrived 5:20 pm Sunday 9-14-14. Jazz band so loud we decided to sit back in bar area. Scarlette was our waitress. Was disappointed in the time it took her to get to the table, and then to get our drinks. Did not tell us her name, welcome us or ask if we wanted appetizers. Worst service i have ever had at foothills. Took 10 min to get our drinks. 30 minutes to get our food. Food as always was good. Was disappointed for first time in the jade IPA was too bitter. Service in past when seated out front is always superb. Bathrooms on this visit at about 6:10 pm were filthy. urinals nasty, had not been cleaned that day at all. Giving second thoughts about returning to this once favorite stop.
Nice spacious place. 2 floors. The bar area had plenty of places to sit and there was a sit down dinner area place as well. All the staff were pleasant and knowledgeable. Clean and kept bathrooms too.
Excellent fish and chips as well as the nacho chips. Went there on New Year's Eve and had the nicest waitress ( I don't remember her name , she was pregnant) She provided excellent service to our table and was very friendly. This was my second time going and impressed on both visits. Their beer selection is delicious too!
Great atmosphere, and delicious vegan option(s) if you ask for them!
I was on my way back to Raleigh from an all-day mountain trip. It was the middle of the night and I was suuuuper hungry, but I was having a hard time finding any places besides fast food that (a) were still open and (b) had vegan options. I called this place and the person who answered happened to be vegan and was super helpful in ordering an item and making the substitutions necessary for it to be vegan. The fried tofu was perfect and the whole meal was exactly what I wanted and super flavorful and filling. I only stopped in for a few minutes to pick up my order but the atmosphere was very cozy and pleasant and the staff were friendly.
I wish this place was closer to where I live, because I'd definitely eat there again.
Huge place for college crowd. Service is hit or miss. When it's on they are friendly and helpful. Unfortunately the beer is not as exciting as the graphics on the packaging. Artificially flavored and sad. Boring bland food. Prices are pretty reasonable.
The beer was average (The Hippie Handprint Summer Wheat and Hoppyum IPA were the best of the flight supplied by the brewery) but the food was fantastic. My wife enjoyed the wings and the Dirty South Burger I had was perfectly cooked.
My girlfriend and I have been waiting for a year to visit Foothills, we are huge fans of the cottonwood pumpkin ale. Our excitement was quickly subdued by a rude waitress and horrible service. It took forever to get our beers, our questions were left un answered, or answered with vague unintelligent responses, that is if we were lucky enough to get our waitresses attention. I understand she may have alot going on and i should not judge the whole experience on this one staff memeber, but we spent just under $100 and I dont think its unreasonable to expect common courtesy to a few customers whom are clearly fans of craft brews and good food. The food was very good, I had the Cuban and it was delicious. However, with the craft beer craze in full swing, there are much better experiences to be had. I recommend American Ale House in Hickory or OMB in Charlotte to name a few. I'm sorry Foothills, but when you love what you do, it should show. I really am disapointed to write such a negative review of a brewery I had such high hopes for.
Best beer in the triad. The place is a mix of a restaurant and a pub; you get a kind of mixed ambiance inside. Which is the only reason for deducting a star. Apart from that their beers are really good, and their food options, although limited are excellent.
Awesome pub with good food. Best brew pub in Winston! Check out Footnotes on the back side of the breezeway and the tasting room on empire drive. They sure know how to create a great atmosphere.
Great beer, I always take a growler of People's Porter home. You should also try something of the menu because the food is awesome too. Sometimes they have a live band playing. Blues are the best.
I came for the Sexual Chocolate Stout. It's a great beer. I ordered the Ale Battered Mushrooms and I give them thumbs up. But I cannot get past their prices. Im from the Boston area but I've lived in NC for 20+ yes and these prices are equal or greater than pubs in LA, Atlanta and Boston to name a few. Unjustified prices for our area but the beer and are very good.
We had an absolutely delicious dinner of simple pasta and marinara sauce. The salad was exceptionally fresh and the bread complimented the meal nicely. One of the best Italian meals I've had in some time. Highly recommend.
The past three times I have been to Foothills, my friend and I have had a terrible time. We have had slow service, servers who either took to long to get our drinks, or totally forgot us altogether, until it was time for the check. I would recommend this place to someone, but I would warn them that it's become a hit or miss experience
We had to sit outside due to Covid which was fine even though it was 90 degrees. We were excited to go there because I like the beer and we haven't been out to eat since March. Unfortunately the service was not good. Took a long time to get to order, we got our appetizer after our food. Tje food was decent but I felt like it had sat around for a while. The beer was top notch though.
The chocolate stout was excellent, food delious, atmosphere comfortable, and the house made mustard was so good I dipped my fries in it. Make sure to stop in their sister location nextdoor for the same great beer and their house roasted coffee!
In town for work and wanted to grab some dinner and drink some good beer. I ordered the buffalo burger and it was just a bit dry and could've been way better. The beer on the other hand is pretty good. The Jade IPA is a really drinkable well balanced beer. Friendly staff as well. I would come back.
Went there for lunch and tried the grilled smoked gouda pimento sandwich with tater tots. The sandwich was great and the tots were amazing! Maybe the best tater tots ever. The service was a little slow (not due to our waitress, who was friendly and engaging) but they recognized that and gave us a complimentary dessert to share. We hadn't complained and it was nice that they were proactive in making sure we were happy. Definitely will be back.
Hate to say it but if you want good food and service don't ever order from the late night menu before being drunk. Not good at all. Got the pub fries and they were burnt sent them back to get more burnt fries. Yikes!
Great food and great beer! Excellent meal, drinks and service. My lone possible ding on the place was that after I felt super gassy. I think something was up with the kegs / CO2 pressure on one of the beers I had. Otherwise it was a near flawless experience - the waitress was friendly and knowledgeable and had good recommendations.
Foothills is a cool place to chill. The vibe is good for all ages. Food is soooo good. Ketchup is homemade! The beer is brilliant and the selection is always on point! Cant go wrong if you go to Foothills!
Good selection of beer, especially if you like the real hoppy IPAs. Carolina Blond is wimpy...Bud has more flavor. But other beers are very tasty. Food"s pretty good, and I'm picky. Cool atmosphere. Band was good, especially if you like southern bluegrass. I'll be back.
Foothills Brewpub is a great little spot to hang out at. The beers were great. They really know what they are doing. I tried a seasonal Mountain Pale Ale and a Pilsner and thoroughly enjoyed them both. The service was great and the food was delicious!
Great place to grab a bite and enjoy a beer with friends. Cool atmosphere in a down town setting , great beers on tap and a decent selection of foods. Well worth dropping by and checking out.
The burgers were delicious, and of course their beer is excellent. I do wish that they had more booths I feel the center eating area is a bit too large and overwhelming to eat at.
It isn't my forte when it comes to pub food. It is pretty good for what it is. I think that the real winner is that they have their own beer that they brew in town. I like the atmosphere. The food is not my thing but it is a good place to meet with friends and catch up over a beer.
Staff was friendly and quick to serve. Just went to bar and got a drink. Didn't eat there but food always smells good. Overall nice place to take a date or hanging out with your friends. Ill go back again. I wanna try their cheeseburger.
The food was definitely a 5 star. Everything had great flavor and was cooked perfectly. The staff and the beer on the other hand, three stars is generous. The beer was okay, exactly what you can buy in store, no speciality on tap. The staff was not very friendly and made it seem like we were bothering them when we ordered. Not to mention how much they complained about their jobs. lf you like mediocre, this is your place!
Foothills has quickly become an institution in Winston-Salem since downtown started booming a decade ago. You will see the iconic symbol all over town as their brewery has spread throughout, but the crown jewel remains the restaurant on 4th street. If someone new is in town, Foothills is usually my first stop. Everyone will find something they like there. The menu is varied but not overwhelming. If something on the menu *sounds* good to you then it probably is good. I don t think they do anything mediocre. The environment is welcoming. You will fit in just as well in a suit during a business lunch or in a t-shirt after a ball game. Foothills is really something we re proud of.
Foothills has a great selection of brews. Many great tastes. My favorites are hoppyum and sewing double. Try them all haha. The environment is great and relaxed. So much more than a bar. It reminds me of the breweries is Washington but close to home. We will return.
