Vegan pizza so good, I swear I'm in heaven! They let you do half half on the specialty ones too. Cool vibe, great food, reasonable prices, and laid back atmosphere. Location is in a very interesting area too!

We had a pizza delivered to our AirBnB while we were staying in Salem, and wow, what a vegan pizza! They even answered our allergy questions over the phone (yes, I'm that person). Seems like a fun little business. We'll visit the restaurant at our next stay! I personally didn't like the vegan mac and cheese , had to throw it away. The pizza was so worthwhile though that it still earns 5 stars! Hell yeah!

Definitely a meh experience for me. Went there on a weekday, when it wasn't overly busy. Even so, our server was incredibly non attentive..and the pizza was quite bland. I will give the place credit for having a cool theme..but at as a restaurant they failed me.

If you're seeking sci-fi themed pizza in Salem, this place is great! Microbrews on draft and some great eats. Try the garlic knots, they are excellent. Great vibe in this place, but it fills up quick on weekends.

Went for lunch. Sat on the patio and enjoyed the view. Server was cool and the food was delicious (specially the dough, it was like a pita but pizza and so tasty). I got the Armageddon it was a good size for lunch and about ten bucks. I enjoyed every bite and would gladly go back again one day!

Pretty good vibe. Interesting music, lots of cool Star Wars/Star Trek stuff, and great pizza. The service wasn t the greatest as I ordered an appetizer and it never came. It wasn t on the bill, so the waitress probably forgot. Anyways, I d go again :)

The pizza was delicious. My recommendation would be a cheese slice with an order of Space Balls ( garlic knots ). The slices are quarter pizza sized slices, so 1 slice is the size of two. Their sauce was delicious. Highly recommended.

The pizza was great. A friend and I did a build your own option pizza. Loved the decor. It has a bar area which is great for solo travelers. The wait staff didn't check up on us as often as I am accustomed to. I would still recommend checking this place out. I see other reviews complaining about pricing, I found it very reasonable.

5 Stars for the decor. The walls are painted and decorated with quirky scifi art, and there's (muted) scifi classics streaming on the flat screens. There's bar, tables, and booths to accommodate most different group sizes.

4 Stars for the beer selection. There's excellent year-round beer choices for a pizza place, with a seasonal summer/fall liquor license.

3 Stars for the Pizza: It's a hit or miss to be honest. Sometimes it's fantastic, especially when you get a super fresh slice. Like other reviewers have said, the slices are thin crust and big. I suppose the cost of having creative topping arrangements is more frequent duds - with some or most people hating it and some or most loving it. This place appeals to those who like to try new things, but I recommend trying to imagine what it'll taste like based on the ingredients before you order your favorite scifi-character-named pizza.

I have mostly positive things to say about the waitstaff. I won't subject them to a 1-5 rating, but I'd say they're about what you'd expect out of most servers and bar tenders in Salem, MA. They have a little bit of that New England curt charm mixed with some post-grad hipster art student vibe. They get the job done, are friendly to a point, but aren't brimming with fake hospitality just to mumble under their breath as they walk away from your table. They'd be more likely say it plain, straight up - which I prefer. They're about as casual and quirky in attitude as the decor on the walls - fitting for a pizza place. All that to say, talk to them as a human rather than the help and you can have lots of fun here.

The last time I was in I had a great time. The first slice was great, so I ordered another of the same 40 minutes later. It came out dry and lightly burnt - so I assume they reheated the same pizza and it just wasn't that good. For premium priced pizza I expect every slice to be fresh. All things considered I like going to this place for a casual gatherings, but for order out I feel my dollar goes further elsewhere.

Not bad for a small pizza shop; the decor was great could have been cleaner lots of dust. We ordered three different pizzas; one was just perfect, and the others were just ok slightly undercooked and one overcooked. We didn't ask for a recook because we were hungry, and it took long enough the first time. If your in the area and want something different, definitely stop in. If we re back we will definitely stop by again!!

If I could rate Flying Saucer Pizza Company a 0, I would. I didn't think you could really mess up pizza *this* bad, but FSP took that task to challenge and WON. Let me preface this review by saying that after spending a whole day walking through Salem, my friends and I were HUNGRY. This wasn't your run-of-the-mill, average brand of hunger, either, it was the rampantly rabid kind that inspires your innards to chew out your stomach fat in hopes of satiating itself. The bar was set LOW, and FSP still managed to suck more than a hanging in the gallows. The pizza tasted like sugar and sauce-flavored water with a garnish of cheese. The doe was basically raw. Everything about this pizza was downright disgusting and as my friends and I sat and watched each other force feed ourselves for the sake of not starving, we all collectively ogled the resteraunt across the street and wished we waited the 30 min wait time. None of this would have been so bad if it weren't for how overpriced everything was, but true to its namesake, Flying Saucer Pizza was so bad it was truly out of this world, out of this galaxy, and out of this entire Universe. I would have rather burned my money and pretended I ate something enjoyable than actually have consumed the garbage this place tries to pass off as pizza, but I am stronger and wiser now and won't ever make the same mistake again. Afterward, my friends and I all ate a bag of pretzels in the car and agreed it tasted like a Michelin resteraunt compared to what we had just consumed. Only witchcraft is keeping this failure open.

My husband and I are venturing for our honeymoon across the East Coast. On the hunt for some quality pizza, we decided to go with the Flying Saucer. Loved the general atmosphere, decent brew selections. Our waitress was 1/10, didn t check on us once while we were eating and all but rolled her eyes while taking our order. The pizza was gluten free, and probably one of the worst gluten free pizzas I have had. Came out lukewarm and was again, delivered in an unpleasant manner. Closer to tip time when we had all but finished eating, our waitress begrudgingly acknowledged us with a bland how is everything? - then the bill. $30.00 for one beer and a 10 pizza. We left hungry due to the portion sizes for the price. We also overheard the couple next to us mention the seemingly steep prices when they received their bill. I have never left a two star review before. I guess, depending on what you re looking for, it could absolutely exceed our experience, but we were in hopes of a full stomach and more than one beer for the price. Plus, a friendly smile never hurts.

For a heartier menu, North House of Pizza was great; I don t believe they offer gluten free pizza, or alcohol, but the food and portions were amazing.

Fantastic pizzas and a good selection of local beers and sodas. Friendly staff, and an easy location. Kind of a fun atmosphere, but they changed the decor a couple of years ago, as well as the menu. It's wasn't exactly for the better. Recently they seem to be offering fancier pizzas, but at a significantly higher price tag. I'll come back, for sure, but less often. I miss the old Saucer, but this is fine too.

Super cool quirky place with chalk art all I've the walls. Wish I had taken a picture! Not to overhype the place but they have the best pizza I have ever had, I'm basic so I got a slice of pepperoni and then immediately ordered another slice. My only regret is that I didn't order a whole pie. Great job!

I specifically requested gluten free vegan pizza. The server seemed very concerned and attentive about making sure it was safe.... Turns out there is eggs in the gluten free dough. Irresponsible and unsafe to claim to be free of allergies and lie about food contents.

Do not support this Trainwreck.

The vegan Mac and cheese pizza (silurian) is the best vegan pizza I've ever had. However when they are out of vegan cheese or Mac and cheese, they tend to be out of it for a week or more, so call before hand to make sure everything is in stock!

Lousy service. 48 minutes for just a pizza. Had to get our own refills waitress forgot us. Plates were sticky waited at bar aboyt 7 minutes before getting clean ones. Pizza tasted great but don't expect to see your waitress after you order.

Considering that I only visited because Google said it did vegan food I had no expectations. Upon leaving I'll make anyone I know coming to Salem go here.
Beer and pizza always make a good combination. Especially when both the pizza and beer are good. But here it is even better as the beers get paired with a pizza so you can bring out the flavours of both.
Just excellent!

The last few times I've been to flying saucer the service has been awful. We went for father's day and there were only 2 other tables. We ordered an app and drinks. Then put in our pizza order. 30 minutes later we had to ask for drinks and if our app would be out soon .She forgot the app. I can live with that. Now the pizza came and we dug right in. Finally our space balls arrived! Only they weren't the ones we ordered. So once she came back when our food was gone we asked to have the correct space balls because they sounded good and we were hungry. The food was delicious as always. But my guess as to why it's never packed there anymore would be due to inexperienced servers .

Two stars for the clean location and theme of the restaurant. However, the food was nothing spectacular. We ordered garlic knots, which barely had any garlic and as a garnish had shredded Parmesan on the top (what am I supposed to do with that?). We also ordered the award winning Mars Attacks pizza. I wouldn t give it an award though because it was quite soggy. Also, a hard cider was $8.50 which is absolutely ridiculous in terms of alcohol prices. Ultimately, it was really just a mediocre experience and we probably would not recommend this spot to those visiting the area.

Staff was horrible. Bartender (with the blue hair) was extremely rude and made fun of potential customers after they turned their backs. Our table was dirty so I wiped it off with a napkin. I moved it to the end of the table, hoping that someone would take it, only to have the rude bartender push it back toward me with the menus. The waiter was not much better. I had to ask for another drink instead of seeing that it was empty. The whole experience screamed 'don't come here, we don't want you here!' The staff made me feel like they only want to serve their friends, co-workers, and locals...not the tourists pumping money into their town. Would not recommend this place at all.

Food is good, staff is slow and uncaring and unprofessional. Always takes absolutely forever to put an order in, nevermind how long it takes for the food to actually arrive. I'll come here when my friend drags me but not ever voluntarily because i value my time too much to waste it.

If you build your own pizza it's cheaper than the exact same pizza that they have built for you. When we got our bill and brought this to our waitresses attention, she replied that the prices are on the menu so it's not her fault and that once the system rings it in she cant do anything. She also charged extra for the base cheese which is supposed to come on a pizza! She was rude but did get her manager who rectified the issue. In the midst of all this, I forgot my entire pizza that I had packed to go. I came back 5 minutes later and the staff said they threw it out and the lady walked away. We paid close to $100 for food and drinks at this place. I hope they provide some serious customer service training to their front line staff.

Fantastic staff and even better pizza. I ate here twice on Halloween this year, late lunch and way late drunk munchies dinner. I was quoted with about 20 minutes for a slice both times. And both times the slice came out before 10 minutes had even passed. They are huge portions (1/4) pizza so don't be fooled by the price tag. You're getting way more than a bargain! Thanks again for some nice Halloween chow

I was super disappointed with my most recent experience. This is the second time I have been here and the first time was decent so I decided to splurge ($26 for a pizza is not uncommon here) and come back again when some family and i were looking to get some good pizza. We got a margarita pizza, which they call the serenity and add spinach, a pepper and onion with pepperoni on half, and a cheese pizza.

The crust was decent. We went with the wheat dough because when I had it the first time i came here it was crispy and chewy like it should be, unlike most wheat dough that is just thick and spongy. This time the dough was exactly what I didn't want it to be. It was a super thick crust which tells me the dough was not properly spread out. it was close to half an inch thick. If i wanted greek pizza I could have paid ten bucks per pizza. This dough could not have been freshly made if it was the same recipe they used the last time I was there.

On the serenity/margarita pizza we opted for red sauce instead of the garlic olive oil sauce. Let me just say now that all the pizzas had so much sauce that they were almost not edible. The sauce was thick and pasty like they used straight tomato paste and added way too much italian spice blend. On this pizza it was especially unappetizing because they basically layer the entire pizza with basil, spinach, and 11 small slices of tomato. Then they say on the menu that they use fresh mozzarella on this pizza which they did not. They sprinkled regular shredded mozzarella on a margarita pizza that cost me $23 because they charged me for the red sauce as a topping. My girlfriend is a vegetarian and rarely eats cheese and would normally love something like this as she gets it almost every time we get pizza and even she said it was not good. Hard to mess up a margarita pizza but they did it at the flying saucer on this night.

The pepper onion and pepperoni pizza was much more of the same. HUGE DISSAPOINTMENT!!! The pizza cost me $21 because it was $2 per topping. I didn't count but every slice did not have pepper and onion on it and the half with pepperoni probably had 6 to 8 pepperoni's on it. If you are gonna charge me this much for a pizza give me some toppings please. they probably used less than a quarter of a pepper and an onion on this pizza and were super skimpy on the cheese. Now let me say the good pizza shouldn't have tons of cheese but when you have a half inch of spongy gross crust and an ocean of thick, pasty sauce as I mentioned earlier, it makes it hard to eat a pizza with light cheese and no toppings.
this is my favorite combination on pizza and it is simple. Total disaster.

Now cheese is impossible to mess up. Not at Flying Saucer. All things I already said were the issues. Pools of sauce by the crust, thick crust made with old dough, and not enough cheese. Cover the pizza with cheese if your charging $15 for it. There is no reason for charging that much for a cheese pizza. If you are not buying imported cheese, growing the tomatoes out back, and grinding the wheat daily to make the flour for the dough your just ripping people off. None of this is happening here. Add that to the fact that they told us 35 mins for pickup and the pizza was definitely sitting for a while and it was just a bad experience.

I do not care about paying for quality because I believe that fresh, high quality ingredients make a huge difference when making any dish but when I pay $60 for three pizzas I expect some seriously good pizza. This was not good pizza. If I had not ordered it so late I would have returned it. I still have 1.5 pizzas worth of slices sitting in the fridge because no one liked the pizza. Good pizza would have been gone in this house.

This place should practice what they preach on the website. This was not New York style pizza, it was not fresh high quality ingredients, and it was not gourmet. It actually will probably end up being garbage because I don't think anyone is eating those extra slices.

Pro: Friendly staff. Tasty thin crust. Fun and Eclectic decor. Great family restaurant. WiFi available. It's a "build your own" pie factory from ingredients they list on the menu and a number of exotic local "favorites". I just think my friends chose the wrong group or ingredients to make the pie memorable. I'd give it another try.
Con: Half of our party was full and left to go next store to buy clothes while we were left to finish the pie and settle the bill. Kinda felt the service staff was hovering to motivate us to leave.
