It's an awesome alternative. I did both FLVS and high school at the same time. I completed all my credits a year early and was able to graduate as a junior rather than a senior. Rather than graduating early, I decided to dual enroll and now I only have one class at my high school. Through FLVS AP courses (and some dual classes and school classes) I will graduate with my general 36 hours of education. The teachers are mainly available. I've only had problems with two teachers in my four years of taking FLVS courses. Honestly, the work is nothing. The most assignments I had was in AP Literature with about 115 assignments. My AP biology and AP environmental courses only have 88 assignments in them, so imagine what a regular course would have. Anyone who rates this badly is due to their lack of communication and work in the course. It's three assignments a week and even if you don't do them, they won't do anything until your second week of not submitting work. Some courses shouldn't be taken online if the student is incapable. For example , upper level math is difficult and Spanish is as well because you have to record yourself. FLVS has been a experience. My GPA started out as a 1.5 my freshman year because I was messing around in school. Through taking there course, I brought my GPA up from a 1.5 to a 3.0. Now I'm close to a 3.5 GPA and it is slowly but surely increasing with the help of this school.
