This airport is one of the negative experiences in Hamburg. Long walking distances, long waiting times for luggage.

As a Lufthansa Senator I have some base to compare and Hamburg airport is far away from the usual German standards. Lousy security procedure, unfriendly staff, mocking at the passengers, speaking only in German. Building is spacious and well organised, but we are not there for the architecture, but for the service experience, right? A lot of shape up is needed....

A very good airport. Short walkways, friendly people at the security checks and good shops. Not too expensive which is, in my point of view, one of the main important things specially if you're are travelling with kids who are always hungry.

Restaurants are good and have a good variety of food, hardly any waiting lines as well.
