Punctuality offensive my ass ... the whole thing is a bad joke!

I'd love to give a negative rating/star ( minus 5 that would be!) which is sadly not possible.
Baggage reclaim a total desaster and I have to say as usual! One hour after touchdown before the belt even started to move.
Information policy not existing, also as usual.
Me as a "Hamburger" feel ashamed for these circumstances especially for visitors coming to our beautiful city and that's their first impression.

Well structured airport, very good parking possibility for little money. If you do not eat something that is not a problem, because there are countless restaurants and bakeries where you get something for little money.

We used in transit.
There are food courts and cafes. There were also shops dealing with ethnic items, German sausages and hard bread. As expected, I ate slowly.

I always thought it would be a professional operation. You should better consider flying from Hanover to minimize the risk of missing a connecting flight.

Terrifying. The performance at Hamburg Airport has been declining for months. Starting from too few bus drivers to get from the plane to the terminal, too few staff at the passport control upon entry. Automated passport control not working, extremely long waiting times for baggage claim. The shortcomings are not due to the staff. They are friendly and helpful. Why 4 stars? Let me explain it briefly.

The main problems at this airport are clearly the suitcase issue and the bus transfer from the plane to the building.

Ask the questions why, and why only here and why 4 stars ...

First of all the positives:
Clear terminal with check-in area, mostly friendly and helpful staff nearby

Relatively short distances to the gate, no matter which

What many airports do not offer, for whatever reason, is free fresh drinking water

The aircraft clearances are according to some information (at just under 5300 machines) below the average time

Several airlines have their own factories here, which are immediately on hand for problems with machines. If the problem can be solved that way, I will not stick to the Pro / Contra list of the airport

Now the (supposed) problems:

The security waiting times: Although these are not below the average, in general, the waiting time should not be longer (measured at 3000 people were only about 2% above the average waiting time (below average waiting times was not calculated).

The suitcase problems are due to two reasons:
1. Quite simple: lack of specialized personnel in the areas of mechanics and loader

2. Obsolete and nowadays questionable luggage belts (especially underground). These make the age and size more problems to be fixed, where we are back at point 1, the lack of staff

Unfortunately, I have to admit that I have no real answer to the shuttle question. Often my team and I have seen how a machine gets an outside position, stops and no bus comes. I would also indicate lack of staff as a reason, but can not assure it.

That's why I give the airport 4 stars. He still gets chances, the responsible staff has to worry about the baggage problem, some others about the shortage of staff.

Conclusion: Main reasons for the problems at the airport are in my opinion staff shortage and obsolescence.

A modern airport in the north. Clean. Other airports have to use Hamburg Airport as an example.

I'm alone traveling with my 2 children (6 years and 11 months). We had at the check in, we do at the security checkpoint and the customs to the huge long lines, which is very tiring with 2 children. Without children not a problem as I am then 2 hrs. And wait does not bother me. Departure everything was perfect, waiting for luggage for an hour on arrival! We haven't had to wait that long at any airport. The reason given was the lack of staff.

We have flown to Hamburg twice in the past three months. Luggage took 15 minutes and 45 minutes. Otherwise clean and clear and connected to the S-Bahn network. Why the HVV does not use trains with more storage space for luggage or longer trains ????

Way too small! If your flight is in the morning time, be there as early as possible. Though they open the check-in counter only 2 hours before the departure (probably bc the airport is too small), you gotta need to queue for a long time to pass the security check. Takes 3-40 mins almost every time...
Always so crowded in between Check in counters and security check & not enough toilets at gates area. Totally inconvenient.

Very good and nice airport. At peak times and during the holidays, however, one stands in line for a long time before the security checks.

I fly very often from Hamburg and I really like Hamburg Airport! The visitor terrace, shopping, clean toilets, everything was great! What many people write here with the buses has never happened to me personally, although I land and take off very often here, I only had to wait 15 times to get out because the stairs were icy, but I didn't really find that disturbing. .

A star deduction due to the high parking prices, these prices are simply outrageous! And often if you want to book online only P1 is suggested, all others are supposedly fully booked, if you go there without a reservation you can choose which semi-empty parking garage you want to be in =)

The airport itself is clear and simple.
The business lounge was a bitter disappointment, the armchairs were dirty, just take a damp cloth and wipe over it, the selection of food was very small and well arranged, unfortunately a little bit. The beverage selection, however, was large. The interior is unfortunately already getting old, maybe something new.

The airport is in the middle of the city. Easily accessible by public transport. Fast check-in. The only thing you can sometimes wait longer on the belt is for your luggage.

Everything is clean and tidy, well arranged, it is very good with public transport. On the prospect platform you have everything around, is free. There are some shops where the staff are friendly and helpful

I am appalled at the way in which bistro operators at the airport are nowadays allowed to offer and sell food, drinks and cutlery in plastic. I was hungry and thirsty before my departure and went to the bistro "St.Pauli" at my gate A37 and ordered a salad and a cappuccino. The salad in plastic bowl with plastic cutlery, the cappuccino in paper cup with plastic lid. Sugar extra packed, milk for other types of coffee in plastic ... just awful and unnecessary. The staff is friendly, albeit unfocused and very involved in private discussions, but the plastic theme, I really think not thought out!

Hamburg Airport ("Helmut Schmidt" - Airport) is a real highlight in and for Hamburg: Even the possible arrival by public transport is contemporary, environmentally friendly and convenient. Since we often fly from Hamburg early in the morning with one of the first planes, we are happy to accept the 24/7 gastronomic offer and the option of waiting in Terminal 1 at night. Unfortunately, the seating is not comfortable there and the ambience does not invite you to linger here.
