Parking spaces in the departure area are available free of charge (loading / unloading), but not in the arrival area! (Tip: after landing, just take the escalator up and have it picked up from the departure area.) Prices at the airport are outrageously expensive: 0.5l coke 3.25 EUR incl. Deposit is steep. Cheapest water is available in the magazine business immediately after checking the gates.

8:00 p.m .: In times of Corona, Terminal 1 was impressive and eerie. Absolutely no noise. The parking spaces in front of the terminals are also almost empty.
At the front everything works in the background but nothing. Reliable when delaying departure and arrival, missing buses, missing stairs, long waiting times for luggage etc. is standard here ... not worth the name Helmut Schmidt!
Do you charge small plastic bags for liquids 50 cents seriously ???? I had never seen it anywhere else .... security level and zero level search. The guy only thinks one thing makes you buy the plastic bags a shame !!!
Better than many other airports out there - fewer lines, cleaner and in general pleasant to fly out of. Also easy connection to the city with the train.
The airport was once very well organized. But that was a long time ago. For 2 years the waiting times at the security check-in and at the airlines are far too long and unorganized. The distances are sometimes much too long, but that is structural and difficult to change. The waiting times, however, could be dealt with with more staff.
Started or landed many times in HAM, so far everything has always worked well. Since the rapid-transit railway connection is finished, also the connection into the City Top is. The architecture is friendly and transparent (same architect as STR - Meinhard von Gerkan). Nice is also the marketplace on the gallery level in the security area, with various food options. Staff at the Burgerstand has kindly even replaced the soft drink in the menu with a Pils. The gate area is also beautiful and generously designed, and honestly - the people here complain about WiWi (so I have enough data volume, I'll get along without), security control (is a matter for the Federal Police, there is no airport in Germany shares inside) and the waiting times when getting out or the luggage, just depends often on the employees in the shift, which may take longer in Munich. So for me, everything top here!
We fly from Hamburg because it is convenient for us. Hamburg Airport is in the back of the list when compared to other airports. The problems we see: 1. Check-in The employees usually do not belong to the respective airline and are often not very friendly. Example: 2 suitcases checked in (for Emirates flight) instead of 40 kg 41.6 kg, we were asked to repack, so we had to repack the "excess" kilos in the hand luggage, I find completely pointless because these "excess kilos are then just inside Hang baggage flown with you (incidentally, at EMIRATES one piece of baggage may weigh a maximum of 30 kilos). 2 Security check, After I forgot my glasses in my shirt pocket in front of the body scanner, I would be pecked with strongly Polish Akznet if I didn't know what "put everything in the box" would mean. 3. Parking. Bad rip-off, no possibility to pick someone up on the arrival level, you have to go up the escalator or the elevator to the departure level with suitcases to be picked up. Here the vultures stand to tow everyone away. 4. Luggage belt: We often had the feeling that the airport was surprised by the landing of a plane with passengers and luggage and that we can wait an hour or more for our luggage. This is also concealed by the fact that the luggage belt is at the other end of the airport.
Conclusion: Hamburg is a provincial airport and if a competent management does not take over at some point, it stays that way. Hamburg stop, more appearance than it is.
Beginning of the year my wife and I flew over Copenhagen and San Francisco out of Hamburg back to San Diego. Long story short the airline lost my bag along the way and were unable to locate it in well over a month time. When I myself started looking for the luggage out of frustration with the airline I reached out to all the Lost and Founds of the en-route airports. Sure enough and within the first 24 hours Mrs. Kremser from Hamburg airport L&F had located and informed me about the whereabouts of my lost property - not finding it in her own department, but actually at Copenhagen! After the miserable experience with the not-caring/incompetence of the airline Mrs. Kremser did a GREAT job, provided great customer service and fixed an issue within hours, that a multimillion (if not billion) airline couldn't fix in weeks.
Thank you Mrs. Kremser, I hope your superiors hear of how you helped me out and got the job done!
Nice, modern airport. Good gastronomic offer. Waiting times at the baggage carousel sometimes a bit long. But friendly staff and thorough security checks.
Hamburg Airport is easily accessible by car or train. The staff was nice and friendly. There were no delays and with the luggage everything went well. All in all a good airport.
We had bad experience at the hamburg airport in this morning, as we arrive from Frankfurt, our luggage took more than 30 mins to get out of the airplane. To get into the wifi is a pain in the ass.
I thought it was great. to be up there on the terrace. To sit in the sun and watch the planes take off and walk. There was no fear of corona ... everything was very clean and there weren't that many people ... all in all, very relaxed. Who wants to eat or drink something there. can do that
Completely satisfied with the airport. We were especially happy (family with 2 relatively small children) about the Mc. Donald's branch at the top of Terminal 1. Modern equipped, with many seating furniture, good views of the runway and, above all, generous play area
Shop, eat and stroll while waiting for the plane. however, I was scared when a child of 5 drunk adults was brought into the girls' toilet next to me. Then all I heard was screaming and men making hump sounds! -1 star for that.
nice, nice airport. Am landed at 8 o'clock in the morning and the connection to public transport is great. You can get away quickly and back again. The duty-free equipment is excellent. I was lucky enough to acquire Gant socks for my better half - she was very happy! A great airport experience.
We like to fly from Hamburg Airport. The airport is well organized, the approach, parking, signs and staff are well organized. We give a deduction due to the overpriced parking prices and the long waiting times at baggage claim. Otherwise great airport!
I would say is one the worst airports in Germany or Europe. It s really really dirty, even in the secure area. In some places it s so dirty and unhygienic that it looks like in the back of a central station where you know how it usually looks. Didn t expect to see that in Germany in my life.
Today we landed at noon from Dubai. The exit from the plane has taken forever - but that was nothing at all with regard to the baggage claim: everywhere stood suitcases in the hallways and our were handed us after just under 1.5 hours. Incomprehensible.
For the umpteenth time we are here again for over an hour and waiting for the luggage. The band is just being made fun of. The main thing is that the manager salaries are right - you can save at the base. Great concept (:
Hamburg is probably the only airport where the check-out takes longer than the check-in. Tonight from Zurich (LX 1054) the passengers had to wait over 30 minutes for their luggage. Such a miserable performance can not be a claim for Hamburg? Mr. Eggenschwiler, you as Swiss with perfect time management in DNA, must bleed the heart !? Please take over something urgently! Thank you!!!
Poor airport experience. Many gates are along a long corridor which you unfortunately have to walk the length of as there are no moving walkways to help. The most unfortunate part of being in certain parts of the airport is the smell of SMOKE. Smokers can smoke in small booths along the corridor which then must be poorly ventilated becuase I'm smoking with them when walking by. This is an airport in 2019. How this can be, just doesn't make sense. If necessary, the smokers can smoke outside, don't make the rest of us have to breathe their carcinogens.
First of all I have had one between landing here and can only rate the inside area after the inspection. He is very spacious and quite well signposted. There are food and shopping. There are also plenty of seating. From the gates you have a good view of the apron, for me, the three-hour wait was very fast. The prices for drinks are a bit more expensive than outside, but cheaper than some other airport.
Because of a train failure of the train I arrived 15 minutes before boarding at the airport. The staff went out of their way to get me to the gate in time. Many Thanks !!! Also I would like to thank the many guests who have let me in - Merci beaucoup :-)
Hamburg Airport is also easily accessible by public transport. Everything is well signposted. Check-in and check-out has always been smooth. Departures and arrivals have always been punctual, reliable and never influenced by strikes. If you have any questions, the staff will be there to help and advise you.
The largest airport in the north offers many connections and everything you need before or after your flight. The security forces could learn from other airports in terms of friendliness.
The airport itself is well manageable and well maintained, but the parking fees are a joke. 15 min. 2, - for pickup and in the parking garage it is not better. The airport approach by car is always a bit confusing due to the fast lane change Kurzfristig.Die road should be better. And I'm a hamburger and was already zig times there!
I like the airport, I have often flown from Hamburg, because there are more destinations served than from Bremen. I never had any problems. The staff was always friendly and the transaction always uncomplicated.
Basically, the security controls work well, but with the onslaught of crowds, long waiting times can unfortunately not be avoided. The staff was very friendly and the airport is spacious.
Sleep in the Sleeping Beauty for years !!! Keep on going like this at HH Airport and take a look at other major airports to find out how an operation should work !! The waiting times after landing are a cheek. One star is still too much.
Never again Hamburg Airport! Really inhuman! Stayed at the airport because our flight left at 6:00 am and were sent to another terminal to sit down. At 0:00 the noise started: drilling work. No sleep + huge headaches + joint pain from the hard seats!
Clean, clear, fast. Turn left through security. There is a nice big smoking lobby. There is a fast food restaurant opposite. Coffee etc. can then be wonderfully relaxed in the above. Enjoy the lobby with a Ziese. Absolutely top
