Nice airport, waiting possibilities available and nice staff.

Good airport. Very clear, friendly security and a good view of the runway. Roof terrace also very nice. Good shopping after the security is synonymous.

BUT: For check-in / baggage deposit you often have to wait forever -> many switches are often not open. Security can also take a long time at peak times, and waiting for your luggage can be very long. But only "can". Waiting times also occur at other airports, Hamburg is often worst when bag dropping.
Sometimes there is too little seating in the waiting area at the gate (especially at the back of the B gates). Paths to the gate can be long, but sometimes very short.

2 hours on the luggage waiting ... been sent from A to B. Reason "exceptionally" high sickness in the luggage processing and that not for the first time ... how miserable ... probably shortage of staff or the management is nothing better than staff savings to balance nice that 2 sick leave for luggage chaos rich

What an airport is like. Everything is well organized, not so long distances, what I personally don't like is that you are always fogged by a cloud of smoke at the entrance to the terminals, because the smokers are always standing in front of the door to smoke. It would be nice not to allow that there. Otherwise everything is fine.

Chaos airport - waiting time for luggage: ONE HOUR !!!! Annoyed passengers everywhere, who are also waiting for their luggage from other cities. This corresponds to my last experience: half an hour late due to the lack of buses for transport to the plane. Get your problems under control and do your homework.

Employee was unfriendly at the check-in area. Unfortunately, security control is not better. We were separated as a couple, questions came up - like entering the USA. What was the reason for the stay, what did you see, etc. We have never experienced such unfriendly staff. Pure chicane!

I had a very early flight so I couldn't use the Kielus bus, instead I decided to take the latest train (and then bus to the airport from behind the ZOB, at the corresponding bus stop).The upper part is closed till short before 4, nonetheless there are very unconfortable sits to rest for a couple of hours. Very unfriendly architecture although many possibilities to get a bite.

The airport is pretty good, the only thing I have to complain about is the unfriendly security service, like the police. I think with a little friendliness the ladies and gentlemen will not break their crowns either.

I fly from Hamburg a lot. The airport is well constructed, most gates can be reached relatively quickly. Everything is quite bright and you feel comfortable. The security check is usually super fast, but sometimes it can be unexpectedly full. The connection by S-Bahn is very good and you can also get there quickly by taxi or Car2go.

Hamburg is a clear airport. Spacious and comfortable. Now in Korona time not all shops are open.

Messy airport. arrivals and departure not separated. Flight information not updated. Not a good reference for modern Germany. Only few seat at the gate. Many people sitting on the floor :(

Going worse and worse.
Hamburg airport used to be my preferred one: spacious, calm and overall, reliable.
Since around one year it has become gradually a nightmare.
Works that last ages, luggage delivery lasting more than one hour (it used to be the quickest I knew before) and IT system complete breakdown of today, resulting in endless queues and the lost of the luggage, that has been now sent around Europe and won't arrive before I leave my destination.
Being a frequent traveler I wonder when the quality will return again .

Not the best international airport. I mean they try to make a good impression to all travellers, but fail so hard. Sometimes check-in queues of 1-2 hrs. And an additional 1-2 hrs queue for security checks. Barely any self-check-in or self luggage service (it's 2020). Restrooms do not look great.
Pilots announce every time that the ground personell is late due to only few crews.
Another thing are the worker's strikes. The security there apparently gets paid so badly that they strike often.
I'd suggest that you bring a lot of time when travelling from Hamburg. On busy days and hours at least 2 hrs. That even might turn out to be a gamble.
During calm days and hours it's all decent.

Today the staff shot the bird at the check-in !!!

At 35 degrees in the sun, we were grilled in the shuttle bus without air conditioning for almost half an hour on the apron. The doors of the bus were only opened at the massive pressure of the passengers and the screaming and crying of the toddlers.

That borders on bodily harm and it is a wonder that nobody here took it for granted!

If the coordination didn't work out, at least the passengers could have been brought back to the terminal.

Something like that must have consequences!

A really nice, mostly clean airport. Not too big, but not too small either. Everything in good shape and modern! So far so good...
If it weren't for the miserably, exorbitantly long waiting times at the baggage claim. If you are lucky you wait half an hour, normally more than 60 minutes and with bad luck over 2 hours. I don't know how stupid the employees of Hamburg Airport can be, but if they can't get their luggage to the baggage claim in under half an hour, then you really wonder why!
I hereby recommend to everyone who has the chance to land at another airport to do so. Because this airport literally messes up the day and the anticipation of arrival in your home.

Baggage claim just underground. Waiting time of 1-2 hours. Obviously, the luggage is unloaded by only one employee, so that the luggage is delivered in stages.

Small port but well organized and close to town. Access by u-bahn or s-bahn and even by bike.

I visit it a couple of times a year. Stable on arrival, the queue for control for "non-EU citizens" is about 50 minutes.
Upon departure: first you stand with your luggage at the check-in counter, then you stand in line at the baggage drop counter. On the latter, the guys work so slowly that sometimes you are bored. Shmon is tough on control: they gut the bag, even for some reason they even opened the package of condoms once (why? :)) - I have not seen anything like this at other airports in Germany.

Transport accessibility is excellent.

Never again a flight from Hamburg after the chaos yesterday morning, night and this morning. no possibility in any way to make the (for us) huge circumstance that arose due to the technical defect applicable. Nobody feels responsible ... bad luck ...

Always happy here. All at once on a flight with Emirates to Dubai - long wait at the counter - so far, everything has always worked out quite well. (No long queues at the security check, toilets or other.)

Many parking facilities, bright terminal halls and fast security. Car connection from the east could be better.

Great airport, clear Aussichsplattform and you will find everything you need for a relaxing start to the holiday.

Strict checks on baggage and personnel. Excellent organization like all German structures. Impeccable toilets the only sore point none of the staff speaks Italian, the instructions on the plane to Fiumicino, therefore with presumably Italians on board, are given in German, English and French, but not in Italian

Actually, I think Hamburg Airport is great, small, clean, clear, but there are a few points that make Hamburg Airport an absolute milk can airport:

4. The parking management staff are so unfriendly that they should actually manage to scare off every passenger.

So on December 31st (5:30 p.m.) getting to an airport after the security check was really an art. Of course, changing money wasn't possible at Western Union, it is probably already midnight. New name "Helmut Schmidt" - old problems! We use the airport Hamburg for decades several times a year and nothing is really better. Long queues and endless waiting times at the security check, unfriendly and overstrained personnel, barely intelligible loudspeaker announcements and the problems with the luggage belts that have been going on for years. To mention positive is only the parking garage P1 Holiday, with its moderate prices for long-term parkers.

Why the vulture are the ATMs everywhere distributed without any labeling! Why is not there a money center where everyone is on the side? It is so stupid that the whole family has to be scattered everywhere and half of the machines is not found. Only bad!
Otherwise clean, modern, etc. everything that should be standard today.

Unfortunately, so far, in almost all areas, I have not had good experiences, especially with the security check, I am teased every time - nowhere else in the world do the automatic systems work so badly and then the unfriendly staff. This is not a figurehead for the Hanseatic city

The airport is fairly clear and clean. The duty free is not a classic, but has a nice division. When it comes to waiting times, it always depends on the day. We were almost always lucky and didn't have to wait long.

And waited again and again for the luggage. It is no longer funny.

The airport is very well maintained but unfortunately it lacks the service.

The average waiting time for your luggage is ridiculous - especially in international comparison. Be prepared for at least 60 minutes standing at the output. And who had the idea to earn money with the trolleys? Who has 50 cents in the pocket after an international arrival? Right, you have to carry your luggage on your own.
