I'm here for the third time now:
If you arrive in Hamburg and have a connecting flight, you have to go completely out of the arrivals area and once again through the entire security procedure. That is, there is no transit area. That does not work at all!
In addition, flight delays are apparently the rule. The last time said that no bus can be provided. Today I have another delay of one hour. It's Friday night and I just want to go home.

A row of gates was under construction so planes were being loaded one bus load at a time outside on the tarmac. Very poorly organized, not nearly enough buses to move passengers, flight was delayed over an hour.

Fast and good transaction.
Good advice and friendly staff.
Very clean and well-kept toilets.
Enough parking and good signage.
An advance information about the procedure before the flight is helpful to avoid stress.
Pleasant atmosphere also in the waiting area. The smoking cabins are a welcome addiction calming center

In my opinion one of the most beautiful airports of all, toilets are very, very clean and modern, always very nice and helpful staff, only the prices (for food and drink) bother me a bit, as they are quite expensive like most airports

Since I already know other airports, I can not complain about anything! Car parks abundant, fees, well! Toilet clean and well maintained, entrance to the terminal big enough to eat and drink, there are also plenty of zb. McDonald's, bakeries ect ... Those who are there early in the morning can have breakfast, and / or stock up on provisions! Prices are okay. All in all, a nice airport, well organized and well arranged.

In front of the SiKo a line from one terminal to the other. Correspondingly long waiting times. You have to be able to solve that better.

Too few bus drivers. Long security check times. Poor management on the part of management

Very cluttered and messy. The queues are in the middle of the corridor. When you arrive you will first be sent back and forth even though you were right the first time. Internet is as bad as it is used in Germany nunmal.

Now super connection with the rapid-transit railway. Many shops on the ground floor with large supermarket. Check-in is fast. Generous portal and clear. Compared to the 80's, the airport has significantly caught up and improved.

Only provincial destinations. Food and drinks overpriced. Partly very long paths without moving stairs. Long waiting times at the security. Check-in machines for luggage rarely work. Extremely long waiting times on the luggage belt. Many planes can only be reached by bus shuttle. Parking is expensive.

Organization meager, arriving machines are parked and waiting for the bus and stairs. The head of operations heard dismissed because of inability.

Departure: unacceptably crowded at peak times: waiting time before the security check of "at least 30 minutes" announced by loudspeaker. No improvement for the past two years but deterioration: longer waiting times, confusing snake guidance, you do not see which snake is still how long, and still have to choose any.

Arrival: Last time the plane arrived at the gate but there was nobody from the airport to drive the Jetway to the plane: Wait. Then another waiting at the baggage claim: 19:00 clock arrived at the gate, at 19:15 on the luggage belt, at 19:35 came only the suitcase: 35 minutes for unloading the luggage of a small aircraft (A319) is unacceptable - other airports do that much better!!

The comfort star exists for the supermarket (Edeka) and the S-Bahn connection (every 10 minutes), which is even better than the one in Frankfurt (every 15 minutes).

Conclusion: Avoid if possible; Unfortunately, there are hardly any alternatives.

Sorry, the worst airport with the worst service and operational business I have ever flown

Definitely one of the best airports in Europe . Big , beautiful, a large choice of restaurants and shops. The architecture is elegant with a lot of big windows which let a lot of light inside.

Well organized.
And with smoking areas, something quite useful, traveling is already stressful and only gets worse when you can not smoke for hours and hours.

I'm working at the airport Hamburg it's renovation of access roads new asphalt it will be beautiful the airport and the terminal is great parking lots there is a lot of access from the parking lot to the terminal are close overall it's good

The airport's equipment and cleanliness are poor compared to most German airports. In addition, especially in the current situation, the airport does not seem to be doing anything against the formation of groups. At the security checkpoint you can easily stand for half an hour, although in a confined space only the legal distance requirement is pointed out. Area to allow the distance is not made free.

Quick to get to from city, plenty of decent food, good and fast security. One issue though: wifi. Maximo IT is hit or miss, login requirement has been lifted but this week I couldn't connect at all (3 times in 3 days). Unacceptable for an airport these days.

Flights were booked already, Hamburg airport changes destinations and flights. Not only once happened. I wish I could give minus points for this airport!!!!

Very long ways! Treadmill was dismantled! Disabled toilet hardly understandable whether 'open' or 'closed' and Corona test center connected with an insanely long way, close to 3 hours needed to get through the test! No or very few staff! Very dissatisfied!!! Provincial airport!

I've seen nicer airports, but the connection is now very good. I am here on business quite often and now you can quickly reach the city center.

A nice atmosphere to be, simple and modern, easy to reach! I recommend getting there by taxi especially if your flight is on early morning to have more time to explore it a little bit.

The plane landed on time and the process was quick. Unfortunately, it was no longer possible to do a corona test. Which I found very strange as I came from a risk area on business.

Largest juice shop ever. Every flight is at least half an hour late and nothing works smoothly. If a construction project is pending, then please without the flight operations suffers and zig flights are canceled or very long delays come about. Very large airport everything clean and cozy waiting halls. Many businesses. Very quick handling. Suitcases came very quickly. Under the airport, an S Bahn goes to Hamburg Hauptbahnhof.

Every few weeks I fly the route Hamburg-Cologne and back. The airport in Hamburg is in my eyes a disaster. Badly organized, but worst of all is the more than unfriendly and scruffy security staff. Clear and well organized! Never really had any difficulties here. Can not understand the other bad reviews like that. Ok, the friendliness could be better in some places, a star deduction.

Not a bad airport in itself. Everything is within walking distance and most of the security check takes very short. The longer it takes the baggage claim. Also on the tarmac my suitcase was already forgotten. But there seems to be the airport's turn. What also bothers me are the sanitary areas; Schulklo atmosphere with a tight tile ambience and no privacy at the urinal. Here, please look outside the box, e.g. to MUC or Sanifair .. Then there's also 5 stars;)

Baggage claim always takes forever, very bad service

The signage or guidance when parking is confusing. Generally, the airport is rather confusing. Otherwise so far only good experiences.

The flights from Hamburg Airport are more expensive than from elsewhere (e.g. Hanover or Cologne), but the airport shines with numerous shopping options such as an Edeka. Like the other shops, it is also open on Sundays and public holidays, but is also significantly more expensive.

Worst airport ever!
Difficult to get to with a car and there always a problem with the traffic getting away from the airport. Tip: plan in extra 30min for travel to or from the airport.

There is always a wait for the luggage. When asking the airport staff for information, no one seems to care. The luggage system is appalling! Plan a extra 45min for oversized luggage!

Try and avoid Hamburg. Rather fly to Hannover.

I was in the Philippines for 6 weeks, i.a. with a motorcycle in the jungle of Palawan Island. Nothing has been lost. Back via Istanbul to Hamburg. When I arrive, I briefly take off my two bags to hug my son. We walk 50 meters together towards the exit and find that a bag has stopped. Sometimes fathers think the children would carry a heavy bag. So back, the bag is gone within two minutes, on broad daylight, at rush hour in the middle of Hamburg Airport. Somebody dares something, I still think. So for supervision, let's see what the camera surveillance gives.
Ha, ha, ha ..... camera surveillance. Nothing. Monitored because of, they have no idea who steals what here and certainly no pictures of it. It doesn't matter to them or anything, they find it rather amusing. So you guys can travel all over the world, but to get stolen from you just stand in the middle of Hamburg Airport.
But woe you have a nail file in your hand luggage when boarding, then something is going on, the alarm bells are ringing and everyone feels responsible.
So you know and don't say I didn't warn you.

The airport is okay. But the waiting time for the bus and the suitcases is awesome and unique in the DE. Management is probably not the best.

Clearly arranged airport. Connections by train and car are very well thought out.

Bad airport in terms of staff quality, discourtesy, lack of professionalism, starting from check in to the outrageous security check attendants, never found so much arrogance, shame.

Had a generally good experience in a lovely airport but after arriving early and doing some shopping the security checks to the gates were very long and slow, sadly i had to move in front of others in the queue, sorry four that. However one of my friend had a difficult experience at Hamburg flughafen. According to him the Orientation was unclear and even misleading. Staff has been rude to him ( three different persons at three different opportunities). He is not keeping a good memory.

Horrible airport with super unfriendly german staff.
Direct flights are super expensive and Lufthansa has the monopoly.

If access by car had been better solved (guidance system, traffic signs, ...), it would be a good airport.
The rest (terminals, check-in, shops, ...) is okay.

Security Check is always fast. Clean, modern and well organized. Super accessibility by S-Bahn. Toilets should be cleaned more often.

As you might expect, the clarity leaves a little to be desired.

A great airport through and through. Both aesthetically and functionally. I live in Hamburg and like to fly from there. And if I do not have the time or the money to fly, I like to drive there with my son. The connection by suburban train is great and the shops very nice, also with free viewing platforms, or the children's play area at McDonalds. I was there very often, so far I have not noticed any unfriendly staff. The pick up on the arrival of acquaintances is also super enjoyable, in the waiting area you can directly get something to eat or drink in one of the many shops and then sit down and just wait. Nobody overlooks you there. Everything is structured very clearly, to get lost there, you have to do that first. Architecturally very well done.
Two complaints:
- Too expensive parking spaces (when picking up acquaintances are gladly 7-10 Euro)

- Suitcases really need to land on the conveyor belt for a very long time until sue.

All in all, one of the most beautiful airports I know! ;)

Unfortunately "scheduled" with the Sunday emptying of the mailboxes. It's 8:30 a.m. Only at the central station later ... (11:45 a.m.)

Nice, close and small. I always had a pleasant journey from here rather than other Germany's airports.

Basically it is OK, people are mostly friendly, especially transfer desk. But my luggage was lost, and it took ages to do all the papers, they don't really care, and they don't know what are they doing.

German efficiency does not apply here!. The security lines are a joke and they take ages to get through. The toilets in T1 are an absolute disgrace with no soap or towels to wash/dry your hands. For an airport it's an embarrassment. Be there in plenty time before your flight.

Waited for the luggage over 50 minutes. This is province and not world city. This airport is to bear the name of Helmut Schmidt, the old chancellor did not deserve that. Employees respond to inquiries

Once upon a time there was an airport with great service and fast processes. Unfortunately one waits for some time for eternity on the luggage. Only in the evening, when it is just before closing time, you can get it under 30 min. Otherwise, wait is announced, friendly demand is also not desired.

Passage of security fast and efficient. Nothing to say. On the other hand, the reception of the fish restaurant on the first floor of the international zone is to be reviewed. I love the Hamburg airport in general, but everything fails at the security checks, if the airport does not have enough staff. The smoking cabin in Terminal 2 after the security is also an impertinence! In the area it stinks 200m in the area. The ventilation should get its own cycle! Others can do that too !!!!
