A good airport with short distances and good transport links. Unfortunately, however, this good transport connection also causes a lot of aircraft noise for many Hamburg citizens (it's just a city airport). In addition, in the late evening hours, the planes sometimes land every minute, unfortunately also sometimes after 11 p.m. In my opinion, the airport operators should become even more restrictive - especially with regard to the acceptance of the airport by all Hamburg citizens.
Very slow security. It is best to be there 5 to 7 hours before departure. Everything else is risky and you miss the flight. The security check really casts a bad light on the otherwise quite good airport. But everything does not work if you are stuck there for 90 minutes and longer. But apparently the airport doesn't care. Nothing will ever change here. No matter what time or day you are there.
Good navigation, inspiring quotes on the walls. I would add some food choice options, since it was hard to find something vegetarian here.
The security staff is overly rigid and unfriendly. I was seized liquids (toilet products) despite the fact that they were all contained in vials not exceeding 50 cc., And despite the fact that together with my wife they did not exceed 1000 cc each (we had a single beauty case). They forced us to buy the transparent sachets even if they had already checked. The airport customer care service, to which we had reported the episode, proved to be totally useless as well as absent (non-response to several emails). Bad service and bad assistance in one of the most important airports in Germany.

A large international airport. Only two terminals, but quite a lot of traffic. Under the passage between the terminals is a descent to the subway line, which can take you to the center. The airport is fine in itself. The sanitary facilities are in urgent need of renovation, although I don't know the ones in the newer Terminal 1. But in Terminal 2 and in the area in front of the security check in front of Terminal 2, just terrible. It is also annoying that there is no longer a conveyor belt on what feels like the 600 m long route to the walk-boarding gates A 37 to A 40 and the one that was once there is too short. There is room for improvement here. And then the absolute freedom of sitting on the huge area in front of the aforementioned gates: no chair far and wide. Even if the tight-fisted airline Ryan Air flies there, it would be nice if everything hadn't been completely cleared so that they could play their queuing games. As a previously loyal LH customer on domestic German flights, you are now largely referred to this terrible Eurowings and I would just like to sit there, because this airline is not exactly known for its breathtaking handling speed, but a rather lame bunch, so that one stands up when standing can get dizzy. That is resolved in an almost modest way.

A good overview of the runways is guaranteed and a lot of glass makes it possible. Unfortunately, I found only a smoker's cabin and I find that very weak, it should be worked on!

For an airport for a cosmopolitan city like Hamburg, it is an indictment if the restaurants and cafes are open at 8 pm or even though there are plenty of flights until midnight. An airport that has no security. With recent events, it would be nice to raise the level a little. The staff at the airport, but also the shops is really very rough. The price of anything is exorbitant like most airports. A lot of parking and not very expensive in the long run though. There is nothing open at the gates eg no food! Rubbish machine coke that's it. Starvation an issue here!

The arrival at the airport is a disaster, the baggage claim is embarrassing for a city like Hamburg. Yesterday we received our luggage one hour after arrival. One of my favorite airports in the world. Clear and well located, good public transport connections. So far, everything has always been smooth and with problems / questions the staff was very helpful.

Why are you all complaining about the bad shopping possibilities ?! This is an airport and not a shopping mall! Is perhaps quite nice that you can shop there by the way, but that the airport is there has another reason.

Good that you can get almost everywhere through the Hamburg airport in the north now. From the three times I flew, there was nothing to complain about, the machines were on time and the service was ok.
Neater and cleaner. But the staff is not hamburgeric cool. That would still work. It is inattentive, that would still go. It's just way rude and uninterested in the customer's passenger. From the security check to the saleswoman at the various bars.

Hamburg Airport offers a good selection of restaurants if you wait for the plane after the security check. I have never had to wait really long for my luggage. The departures were also always on time but of course it can sometimes come with these smaller delays. The toilets could be a bit cleaner but it's still bearable. On the whole, I really like to stay in Hamburg Airport, also because of the
really good sushi bar which is once outside and again after the security check.
Do not always demand more pay. Also do something for it. Baggage handling is currently at the 15+ airports where I was by far the worst ...

The sometimes very long paths have always been a problem for many, but flight info is a disaster, which is undoubtedly because now here are apparently in austerity only outgesourcte employees who are not trained enough to answer questions. Scoreboards at best an estimate. Therefore, for me now goals like AMS / DUS / CGN / FRA if possible only by train.
Disaster ... I just wanted to know one simple thing. The fourth time I was forwarded from Frankfurt Airport to Hamburg. The one was so cheeky and said "stop it" and hung up! You couldn't be more unfriendly!

I like this airport very much, nice and very helpful staff. Clean and clear.
In itself, I think the airport is great. He is clean and the staff was really friendly (not only for airport conditions). Very bad I found that we had to walk to our machine. At the gate A37 we had to get out in pouring rain and walk to the plane. That really is not possible. Until you sit in the plane, you are drenched from head to toe. I have not had that at any other airport.
Hardly any staff at the counters, endless waiting times at the security checkpoint, chaotic handling and extremely unfriendly staff there. Very family unfriendly and no offers for children. Other airports manage that much better.

Nice, clean airport with mostly nice staff. All necessary shops are available, including viewing platform and large main hall to watch. S-Bahn station integrated in the airport.

This airport is a joke. Lufthansa and Eurowings both don't have automatic baggage drop off. Only one (sometimes 2) people doing normal (non priority) drop off. It takes hours all the time.
If there is anything good about Corona, then that the airports are empty and the security check in, we never run that fast before. The distances were short and everyone was friendly.
The people there jostle each other with zero respect for other people: used bad air, long lines in front of the cash registers at Spar, dirty garbage outside begging and rummaging through the garbage, toilets often stink and dirty.
Unfortunately, zero stars are not suitable.

You need to come to the airport 10 hours before your flight. You will wait in each queue you enter. You might miss you flight.
2.5 hours before the flight on site and it was almost too short. We had to do a self-check-in, but there were almost no vending machines available for the crowds. The overburdened and disorganized staff did not help, which led to even more delays. The same tragedy in the baggage claim, this had to be done even the staff did not provide any assistance.

A beautiful airport that offers many advantages for travelers. For example, the body scanners significantly speed up the security check and shorten waiting times. In the terminal there are diverse and interesting shopping opportunities. Typical overpriced food and drinks complete the offer. Of particular note is the restaurant area on the first floor.

Nice, small and quiet airport. I arrive usually from Frankfort or Newark, depending on the airline. There is easy access from downtown. When there, hailing a taxi is quick and easy. The staff are pleasant and get you in and out quickly.

Hamburg scores in all comparison points with 5 stars: customer service, time management, organization and well-being factor. Always my pleasure.

In transit with the family (2 adults and a child of 7 years) from a trip to Norway, we had the pleasure to touch "efficiency" German ... Come to check-in Lusthansa with two suitcases and a trolley , of the total of 59.8 kg the diligent hostess, told us that we could not take the luggage, because one of the cases exceeded the weight of 3 kg, and that even if the sum was less than the maximum weight allowed, we had to take away weight ... throwing clothes into the trash, because, the excessive weight could cause damage to the workers ... poor ... for 3kg more ... their health was at risk ... to avoid further discussion, we bought in at the airport a suitcase, we redistributed the weights, but ... at this point with the trolley we exceeded the weight, then we opted for hoping for some things in the trolley, which was half empty, and use it as a hand beam also putting inside two backpacks. PERFECT weight ok .... boarded suitcases ... cost of high efficiency German 99. But this was only the beginning. We go to security gates, which were very accurate, nothing to say, except that they searched my son of 7 years without the prestige of a parent, but we are in Germany, where everything works ... finally we pass the control gates and we discover that our flight to Rome, has a delay of 4 hours, without reason. Finally, after a pilgrimage between the gates (moved a dozen times, without announcement, but read only on the boards) we prepare ourselves to the imbrco and here the highest German efficiency comes back into action. A MALEDUCATISSIMA hostess, blocks my wife with the trolley, saying it was too big, I was the same that at check-in was fine, we could not go up, we explained that his colleagues told us that it was fine, but the "efficient" German hostess did not want to hear reason. With that trolley you do not go up !!!.
When we tried to explain that it was so heavy because there was also a backpack inside, the "kind German hostess" wanted the boarding pass, saying that I had the trolley size or stayed on the ground. Because in Germany the rules are respected. Then, opened the trolley and removed the backpack, closed the hinges that made it "out of shape" now was fine ... all this tugging my wife and crying my son, but in Germany they respect each other ... and we respect them . Finally after discussions, delays and pilgrimages between the gates we left ... Little anecdote, a German girl with a cello was traveling with us, but that was not out of shape?
Ps. In the first leg leaving from Rome, the same company, no problem for weight weights and the other, but here we are in the inefficient Italy, but with intelligence.
