I can only advise against anyone flying over Berlin Tegel. Airport full, disorganized, far too small for dozens of people, everywhere you push and push yourself. And then the coronation on the return flight: 1.45 minutes waiting for the suitcases. We'll never fly over Berlin Tegel again.

A shame!

A shame!

My 12-year-old daughter was yelled at by a member of staff at the security office, she should say "hello" to her! Behind us was an endless line, but the poor child should personally greet the employee. Only grotesque!

Passengers are taken water bottles, which of course is okay, but these are not disposed of in a designated container, but the passengers are urged to RETURN, and BEFORE checking to put their bottle in a dustbin and to hire again.

Experienced exactly today. Plus completely outrageous and soggy sound.

The words are missing. Avoid Tegel!

Everything was closed when I arrived late and most of the same when I departed early.

I would have an appreciation for its small size and access to the city if it had any normal 2019 amenities.

Pros
- proximity to the city means 15-20 mins away without traffic
- small size means minimal walking and security lines only as long as the plane you re boarding

Cons
- embarrassingly dated
- lack amenities- don t expect to eat, charge your device, or even sit once through security
- feels to lack modern security technology - everybody was getting the wand treatment

Sad, old, dirty, inadequate and outdated for a city like Berlin. A single employee at check-in, who took over 2 hours and could not see my name on an EU passport. A tiny waiting room, stuck between the X-rays and shelves that gave the name of Free shop, with fuzzy chocolates and drinks. The free shop was so good that it closed so badly we were called for boarding. Very dirty and old bathrooms. The wi fi did not work. Anyway! Only sadness!

Insider tip: instead of a viewing terrace, climb one of the two glass towers and watch the sunset over the runway. All of this without freezing, getting wet or paying admission.
Except for the parking garage, of course, we were 6 euros per hour, and that wasn't the most expensive (P1).

To catch the flight in time, you need to arrive at least 2 hours in advance. Communication with the airport is not very - only the TXL bus, which can be delayed, just do not arrive or suddenly announce the final station. Huge queues

By far the worst and the most dated airport out of any major (European) city. Feels like DDR more than any dedicated museum in the city. Poor selection of shops, inadequate toilets and lounges.

Generally very precarious space conditions.
And now again and again incredibly long waiting times for baggage claim! Without any information (more than 1 hour is definitely not "soon"). Connecting flight would go without one. You are "trapped" in the small check-in room at the gate with no entertainment and far too few seats. And that with such a manageable airport. Catastrophe!

Probably the worst airport I've ever been to. Flew out of here in the evening from Terminal C Gate 87, fortunately we decided to go to another area before coming to our gate and were lucky to find some seating. This airport honestly looks like a warehouse that has been converted into an airport with no thought or energy spent to consider customer satisfaction or comfort.

There are very little food choices once inside the terminal, prices on all products are hugely inflated, very little seating available, the toilets looked like nothing more than glorified portacabins, signage is poor and confusing when present.

However if you want to watch (and listen) to baggage handlers chucking bags around whilst you try to relax before your flight you're in luck!

Given that this is one of the two airports serving the capital, I'm appalled that this hasn't been upgraded or improved. Airports are supposed to be places to relax, enjoy and they're the last memory of the place you've visited, this airport really let's Berlin down.

Recommend eating before you arrive, and spend as little time as possible here. There are no gift shops etc inside so buy any last minute gifts in the city before heading over.

The worst airport in which I've ever been. Overcrowded, understaffed, underequipped. Worse than metro stations of many developed/developing countries. Hard to believe that THIS is the airport located in the heart of the 4th largest economy. Literally nothing to compliment on.

This airport is scary like no other. Most of the time is spent waiting for the Federal Border Police. I've never seen passport control open on time. In addition, I would like a little more friendliness. This 'from above' mentality should be easily trained off. There is another way. In addition, they can't manage to open two security lanes, not even at rush hour. You then get the impression that they are enjoying stressed passengers.
This shouldn't make the impression that I don't understand security, but what is going on in Tegel cannot be intended that way.
The second point is the prices. Passengers would certainly consume more if they didn't have the impression that they were buying the airport every time just because they wanted a coffee.

My wife is a US citizen and said that this airport is about the status of a Greyhound bus station, for a capital airport absolutely subterranean bad. With, is it also a mystery how Qatar Airways explains this airport to its passengers? Doha Luxury Palace and Tegel ......

Many locals love this airport as you can often turn up and walk through the security lines that are at every gate and straight onto your plane. It s small and functional and not what you d expect for a city with Berlin s stature. But there is pretty much nothing to do here with a pretty average selection of shops and restaurants compared with what you have come to expect in modern airports. It s days are numbered though and while some will miss its location and speedy boarding others will enjoy the facilities and polish that a new modern airport can bring.

If it is not the worst airport in the world, it is because I have not visited the one in Mozambique (with the respect they deserve). It is a shame that Berlin has this airport, and not to mention the treatment of the staff that makes everything even more scandalous. Ultra boy, grimy, seems built in the 70s.

No longer suitable as a capital city airport. It's just too small and just getting on in years. The short distances are, however, advantageous, although in large airports love.
Tegel should have been left as an airport for short-haul and medium-haul flights, such as London City Airport.

A city airport is no longer in keeping with the times. The day before yesterday a machine came at 1 a.m. - on approach for landing - tore my little child from its sleep. Apart from the 5000 liters of kerosene that rain down on the residents and nature during take-off. You terrorize over 300,000 people. It is enough! Finally close it.

Lots of Corona Bohai up to and including security check. In the departure hall, however, nothing is done to keep the safety distance. Passengers sit back to back. The staff in the coffee shop also works without a mask and plexiglass. Careless!

The airport is getting old but unfortunately it has to be used as the BER is not finished. Maybe someday, but that's another story. An impudence are actually much more the prices for drinks. A coke costs almost 4euro! A small pretzel 3,30 and a roll good 6,00 . The servo forces in the security area are but very nice.

Not sure what Berlin authorities are thinking about. Among the 80+ airports I have used in my life ... Tegel is definitely the worst one. Schonefeld is next. A mediocre bus station is a lot better than Terminal A. Avoid using this airport if you can. No air conditioning in the middle of the summer? What is going on with the tiny waiting areas for each gate? Hellllloooooooow!!!!. I am hoping the new Brandenburg airport will be better so authorities can demolish both ... Just a bad use of the land.

Very long lines at Terminal C. You need to arrive ...

Very long lines at Terminal C. You need to arrive at the airport at least two, and preferably three hours before departure. If several planes take off, be prepared to spend an hour and a half on scanning and passport control. Pofigists work at passport control, at some point an employee just got up and left, took a break for 10 minutes, although there was a line of 100 people in front of him who had a plane taking off in just a few minutes. As a result, such a slow work departure was delayed by 30 minutes, but it seems it is a common practice there. For those who have connecting flights, I recommend to take this into account.

+ Easily accessible from the city
+ Many destinations
+ You get a taxi quite fast
+ Frequent flyer lounge available

- Partly run down
- Often long queues at counters and security checkpoints
- My suitcase has already fallen off the production line
- In smoke-free areas you can smoke without any consequences. Even if airport employees stand right next to it.
- The same flights sometimes go every week from different gates
- When problems are often poor or not informed how to proceed

the worst airport ever !!!! The staff are VERY rude and curse other people! This airport is just a HORROR. Especially for a capital, this airport is very embarrassing. I would never fly there again! No climate, the toilet is terrible, the control is a joke, boarding is totally disorganized a single employee was responsible for two boardings and let some people through without the boarding cards to scan through !! This airport has not earned a single star.

The worst airport I have ever seen! Please avoid this airport at all costs. Many of the workers are incompetent, unprofessional and uncaring. The baggage claim for lost baggage is also unbelievably understaffed, disorganized and badly managed. This is an embarrassing representation of the capital city of Germany. If there was a lower rating I would definitely rate it a zero.

i use Tegel for business travel on a weekly basis. Couldn't ask for more. 25minutes away from the city center, I only need to get there at boarding time. You drive up to your gate, where there is a dedicated security line. Design priority was clearly given to reducing time at the airport vs trying to get your
money at retail outlets.

If you think that you will not get lost because it is a small airport, it is a mistake, it is like "I connected a lot of regional airports", you can not know where the counter of the target airline is, and you can walk very much to the counter. It was the most lost airport I ever used.
I travel by bus from the airport to Berlin, but I'm not sure which bus to take (although it may not be so if you can read German).
It seems that a new airport will be completed soon, so I'm patient.

Just awful. Run down and sal, especially the toilet. The staff is very rude and scornful. I am barked on by a woman with long black hair of safety. When I asked her to repeat because I did not understand what she was waiting for she just turned her head with a sigh and laughed with her colleague. In short do not go too soon you will not spend a good time.

I was here in 2017, in the spring.
Transportation is convenient and very close to the city.
A small airport, there is a serious inspection and in my eyes it is always an advantage even when it's like a rattle.
Everything went well.

2 weeks ago. Terminal total chaos, confusing. You walk from one corner to the other and then it is wrong. Bad information. Dirty toilets and crowded waiting rooms in the boarding area. Announcements by loudspeaker, (if any at all) totally silent and incomprehensible. If you are lucky, the luggage is on board. No U- or S-Bahn connection. Full buses through people and lots of luggage. For Germany's metropolis an imposition.

Such an unfriendly security staff, I have not even experienced the worst clubs. At the check we were asked "Did they talk to the colleague?" (The sound makes the music), whereupon my answer was "no, why?" Then she said "so they know what they are allowed to take with them".
Then I asked if I could start my belt & got back the annoyed & garbled answer "I'm not responsible for telling them that, so they should talk to colleagues in front."
Such a 0 Bock attitude, I have really experienced the first time at an airport.

To add, the guy at the beginning meant to the question whether I may take deodorant in hand luggage in a Zipp bag: "no idea so I do not know" .... and something works on the SECURITY CONTROL .....

Not much can be said during Corona. Very very long waiting times. So if you want to travel during Corona, you'd better be at the airport at least 3 hours before your flight. So you are safe. Everything runs at a snail's pace.
