If their fiber is available at your residence, take advantage. Far less outages than Spectrum, as well as real time online support from a human. Support your local ISP, they do awesome things! Jesse did an exceptional job at fixing an issue in minutes!

Best internet ive ever had between other local people even compared to when I lived on the west side the options werent as good as this. Its fiber optic internet its 100x more reliable than cable and faster. You can see the scared competition in some of these reviews. If you want good internet go with these guys.

This is by far the best ISP in the Palouse if you can get their fiber service. I've had it for the past 2+ years and compared to TWC/Spectrum, it's magnitudes better. The 50/50 connection speeds are absolutely top notch and I rarely see them drop. All ISP's in the area run their backbone through Seattle, and the line latency to Google's servers located there are <15ms, meanwhile TWC has >50ms. That low latency to the greater internet makes a huge difference if you play a lot of games.

Good service in terms of connectivity, pretty competitive rates for what they offer, but the technical support is poor. I rarely get an answer or a call back during their business hours. Their hardware policy is an additional hindrance to anyone worth their salt in networking. Otherwise, not bad, I'll take them over Spectrum.

I absolutely hate this provider. We pay $80 a month for only internet services and it's very intermittent. I am quitti g them as soon as possible, because we called them and told them of our problems and they are still unwiling yo do anything to help us.

According to the signs, First Step is the WiFi provider at the Pullman-Moscow Regional Airport. It would seem embarrassing to advertise and then provide such poor service. Last Friday and again today, the WiFi strength was ZERO, nothing! Hopefully with all the airport renovation, they will also find a WiFi service that actually works.

Tried getting internet at our new house. Said they had to survey the area. Tried for a little over 7 weeks to get them out here and Aaron, a horrible customer service rep, kept saying the following week. They never came out to our house when they said they did. Also, had the audacity to say they couldn't provide Internet because there was a tree right next to our house that was in the way of putting up a satellite dish (we don't have any trees and we already had a first step satellite dish on the house).

Quality internet, great service. Had to switch from their service because my new apartment complex had free internet service but First Step is by far the best internet I've had in Pullman. If you're deciding between them and spectrum, trust me, first step is better and much more capable of working with you to solve any problems that might arise

I have tried and tried to get internet through these guys, since sadly they are the only ones I can actually get decent internet through. (As my only other option is satellite internet.) And well, apparently they don't want my money because they keep saying they will send someone to survey my property and they never actually have. I have told them repeatedly I will do whatever it'll take to get internet, including dig a trench and lay cable myself into my pasture, but every time it ends up being a different story as to why they can't service my house. The last time I went in there they were extremely rude to me while I was trying to explain to them where I could see their tower from my house at, and instead of trying to listen they just told me that it would be "difficult and hard work" for me to dig a trench myself and it would be expensive and other stupid reasons. Many responses to my suggestions and issues have been "well I'll make a note of that, but the techs don't always read the notes" um?! How do they even know where to survey on my 5 acres then?! My neighbors that I SHARE A DRIVEWAY WITH get internet through them! Yet somehow I can't?!

I've been with First Step Internet in the Emerald Downs complex for nearly a year now and I must say they have wonderful service! Never really had a problem with connection except around finals time (due to many routers in one building) and even then, First Step was able to fix it within minutes! So far, customer service is very friendly, they are extremely helpful & understanding, and I look forward to continuing my service with them for the next school year!

We've been with them for quite awhile now, it used to be fine but the last year we've had alot of times where it just didn't work and was just disconnecting and reconnecting. Talked with technicians many times and nothing is fixed and they're explanations dont make sense. Recently they say our service isnt working well because our package is just not good enough, not enough speed to handle things. But it was fine before and at times when nothing is being used it still doesnt work. Other people we know have the same problem, seems like a bunch of bull to get you to upgrade. Why is it not good enough now? Streaming the super bowl for example, could not do it, but last year it worked great without a hiccup.

After drilling a bunch of holes in my house I still have no internet. They claimed to have done a "site survey" and guaranteed that I would receive connection. So I cancelled my old ISP to setup the install with first step. The first step technician was rude and unprofessional. We suggested possibilities as to where to install the receiver and run the wire through. His reply "The receiver goes wherever I put it." His overall attitude was demeaning. After all this he tells me he can't get a connection and I'm out of luck. He did a sloppy job of patching the holes that I'll have to fix myself. And I'll have to pay $80 activation fee to get my old ISP back. Their "First Step" should have been to verify that I could receive internet from their tower.

Had these guys as my Internet provider while going to school at WSU over in Pullman. Our apartment building was wired to them as a service provider. Connection was spotty at times. That didn't really bother me too much since I spent the majority of my time on campus which allowed me to connect through the university's wireless broadband. I give First Step one star for the simple fact that their customer service was terrible and their written forms of communication was something I'd expect a 12 year old to write. After a year with them, I finally became fed up and switched to Time Warner. Once again, terrible customer service, but a little bit more tolerable.

Always there to help we had an issue so I sent a email on a Sunday expecting them to get ahold of us on Monday. They called about 10 minutes later, and they showed up about an hour or so later to fix it. They take care of our business web hosting etc. Always good to work with.

Ryan, the technician was so helpful. I had to get the secure line working because of payment issues. I am so thankful and if Need further assistance I will ask for him directly and wait until he can assist me with internet issues.

First step internet is by far the worst provider in the Palouse. I was achieving top performance from their service during my first 15-day refund grace period. I tested the service constantly and was pulling more data then I was paying for.. I was excited and thought that perhaps the service was better then the reviews suggested.

I was horribly wrong. As soon as the 15 days passed so did my internet speeds. After weeks of back and forth with these guys, they still conclude that the internet is running fine.. I pay 85$ a month for 8/4 internet. These are my speeds (see picture).

I am even using THEIR SPEED TESTER TO CHECK MY CONNECTION.

They have come and set up my system, consistently blamed my equipment for their problems. I have purchased two more routers and have had the same effect. Connection is just as bad when its wired straight into my PC without a router.

They lock you into a year of complete trash service and refuse to make it better.

Tech support never returns phone calls, I had to call the seller who contracted me just to get support. Claimed to have called me, dozens of times, but apparently my phone is broken because they tried and never left a single voicemail. I spoke with my Phone provider and they never did such things..

Stay away, STAY FAR - FAR AWAY. Criminals, and they refused to give a refund even though I can prove its on their end of the service.

I've had First Step for three years and their service has been amazing. I've only had internet issue twice and both times they had repairmen at my door in under 15 minutes. I pay for 50mbps/50mbps over fiber-optic and every single time I test my connection speed it reads above 49.5/49.5, very impressive considering my previous experience with Time Warner/Spectrum where I would rarely get more than half of the data speed for which I was billed.

Great customer service! I am now able to have wireless at my farm without the expense and hassle of satellite internet. They are always willing to answer any questions, even when it is not really their problem.
