First Floors - Carpet One Review

I have used First Floors for personal and commercial use on several occasions. I highly recommend their products and service level.

Same company that laid out flooring when we built house, added tile to remainder of common areas, absolutely amazing! They were thorough, clean, professional, informative and did not leave a mess when done! 100% satisfied! Rafael best installer and Melanie was very helpful through the process.

These guys are great to work with. I like their sales style, they really consult you on your project and give you some good advice and deals.

Carpet is only 16 months old and it's already buckeling and rolling in 4 of my 6 rooms. Do not recommend this company. They do not know how to install carpet correctly.

I have used First Floors for the last 18 years as I have had flooring needs. Wonderful company to work with. Great customer service! I enjoyed working with the gentleman who did all my trim work and my kids love their new carpet.

We had hardwood floors installed in the living rooms and tile in the kitchen several years ago. We were not so happy with their work and they scratched paint on the walls in many places. We will not use them again.

We couldn't have been happier with Rick and his crew (including Summer in the office). They were pleasant, professional, accommodating, quick to address any concerns and their work is absolutely beautiful.
Can't recommend highly enough.

Our project is not completed yet, but the initial phase of consulting by Jaime, their interior designer, has been a wonderful experience for me. She is kind, gone above and beyond her job to help me pick out a great kitchen tile, and is doing all that while working within the confines on what our insurance will cover. If installation is as smooth as this phase has been, I'll definitely go to them again.

I would gladly refer anyone to First Floors Carpet One. Everyone there was so easy to work with. I especially want to give a Shout Out to Melanie! She was always very pleasant to deal with, extremely helpful and knowledgeable! Thanks guys!

First Floors Carpet One replaced the hardwood floor in my son's bedroom after it suffered water damage from a leaky pipe in the hall bathroom. They also sanded and restained the rest of our hardwood floors in an adjacent bedroom, hallway and dining room so that all floors would match. They even sent out a painter who came to paint all the baseboards in the rooms where touch up was needed where the floors were restained. We were referred to First Floors by our home owner's insurance and we couldn't be happier with the promptness and quality of their work. We dealt with Clayton and Summer whom were both very nice and professional and the crew who came out were also great! We would recommend them to anyone who is in need of new floors. They did such a great job, we are even going to call them back to get an estimate for replacing the carpet in our living room with hardwood floors.

Hard lessons learned! Who knew the insurance companies advised "preferred vendors" were considered the worst by those in the know? Turns out to be truer than true in the case of First Floors Carpet One (FFCO). Ordering the flooring was the easiest part but having FFCO abide by manufacturer guidelines for proper installment was another story...failure after failure after failure; six months later of failures and no floors, it was time to call it quits and stop the ineptness!
Lessons learned= Owner and Management failed to accept responsibility & failed to properly educate their own workers, which set them up for all the failures or lack of product knowledge that perpetuated.
If the job / service cannot be done; it s usually one of three reasons: they're unwilling; they're uneducated or they're unable. In FFCO, they got the Hat Trick!
Management was unwilling to accept accountability of repeated failures. Employees were uneducated in product requirements (another management fail); and lastly the company was unable to perform successfully.

Poor quality installation....
I am not able to provide my full review due to character limit restrictions. Below is an abbreviated summary of my unpleasant experience with First Floors Carpet One located at LBJ and Plano Road.

Pros:
+Nice experience with the sales rep
+Nice selection of flooring options
+Pricing was competitive
+Installation crew was prompt and friendly

Cons:
-Poor scheduling (the crew should have allotted another day and taken more time to do it right)
-Poor quality installation (gaps between planks now filled with putty, room dividers, large amounts of glue squishing out onto tile and carpet)
-Zero quality control. This is something that I feel is the biggest failure by the management at First Floors. Landon, the VP, was very careful to make sure measurements taken for the bid were exact and even had a conversation with me about selecting the correct flooring product beforehand. However, once the bid was accepted, no one else seemed to be concerned. The crew was given free rein to install however they deem necessary.
-No communication. The crew did not know what the job required prior to showing up and asked me "what are we doing?" upon arrival. This does not inspire confidence and the crew should know what a job requires prior to showing up.
-Seemingly dishonest business practices I paid for an extra box of flooring and it was never left with me. Where is my extra box of flooring that I paid for? I have heard nothing.

Summary:
It would be unfair for me to say that First Floors is a company that I don t recommend for anything. That simply wouldn t be true. I would, however, only recommend First Floors for smaller/simpler jobs where the likelihood for errors is reduced. Hopefully this review will help the management of First Floors make some needed improvements to the installation process such as coordination with scheduling, quality control, communication, and customer service.

A few photos are attached pertaining to poor installation quality. In all, more than 50 mistakes were identified and flagged for the crew to fix, which had to be filled with wood putty along with glue clean up with mineral spirits. Attached photos are not an exhaustive list of mistakes.

I paid for all services as requested without delay. This floor has a limited warranty and I am obligated to abide by these terms to prevent the warranty from being voided. This prevents me from hiring another crew to come in to correct any remaining mistakes.

They did a great job carpeting my whole house. They were friendly fast and neat and clean. I would recommend them to anyone.

Customer service is the problem here unless you are talking to sales department. Customer service agents who answer the phones always sound unhappy and unpleasant. I always get transferred at least three times for a simple question and have to be on the phone a minimum of ten minutes. I spent over 18k on flooring and when I called regarding care instructions I was placed on hold for fifteen minutes and transferred three times only to be met with attitude and to look on the national wood association website. I was not even referred to their own website. I have no complaints regarding the quality of the flooring yet but customer service is important to me.

Our experience with First Floors Carpet One was excellent. From our initial contact through the completion of their work, everyone was great to work with. We are most pleased with the finished product.

I will never recommend this company to anyone...we have had the worse experience ever with them. Not only did they install our floors poorly they failed to fix the problems.

The installers they sent out on the 1st day did a terrible job so we called the store and asked them to come out and check everything before they got any further...the store rep told the installers to slow down, and then proceeded to tell us the floors were better than most of the jobs they had done.

I should be able to walk across my tile floor and not sub my toe due to the poor workmanship of the installers.

We asked to have a factory rep for the tile floor to be sent out and we were told they couldn't do that.

Great experience, got our carpet installed on quick timeline and I think for the first time ever I didn t have to have the installers fix anything before they left. The installers were great, did no damage to our new paint and a perfect install, that is a comment I ve never been able to make about any construction project.

Carpet guys were prompt on the time they said they would arrive. They worked extremely fast and had three rooms done under three hours. Alot of help from the customer service rep Alecia who helped me pick out the carpet and set up the date. Over all experience was excellent!!

Installers were great and did awesome work. The sales rep who came out to our house did measurements, gave us the quote, and he gave us misinformation. We had an insurance claim and he told us that our insurance company would only cover the damaged area and they would not pay him directly (he wanted me to pay for all repairs and for insurance to send me a check for everything except my deductible). All of this was not true - I had to call my insurance company and get them involved. In the future, he should let Summer at the Dallas office handle the insurance questions - she was awesome to work with. He also did not schedule the carpet when I wanted it installed. I didn't find out until I had furniture moved - my wife and I had to move everything back and do it all over again a week later. The whole experience would have been great if it wasn't for the sales rep.

First Floors stood behind their work and replaced some temperpedic pad that was making a crackling sound when we stepped on it. Very satisfied

Getting floors through this company was a TERRIBLE experience. They constantly lied to us, had no regard for our time, and generally provided the worst customer service experience imaginable. They left us without flooring in our house for weeks, and acted like it was no big deal. Installation was okay at best, and will not likely last very long, seeing that pieces of flooring are already coming loose. Their lifetime warranty is undoubtedly useless - if they didn't care when there was money to be made, I can't imagine how little they would care now that they've been paid. While researching ffc1, I thought that previous bad reviews were just "difficult" customers with unrealistic expectations; I was wrong. Don't make the same mistake that we did in thinking that going with Farmer's preferred installer will make replacing your damaged flooring a less painful experience. I feel that giving the necessary one star is still a gift, considering our experience.

In response to the ffc1 representative that commented on my review:

I understand the slab needed a few days to dry. It did NOT, however, need to dry for many many weeks! Another pathetic excuse for their poor customer service. Since installation, every stair nose has broken off, and I ve had to reinstall them properly myself. I m glad that a representative never reached out to me like they said they would.

My floors are beautiful. The guys worked so hard. Kind, professional guys. This is my 2nd time to use this company. They are great!

We unfortunately had to replace all our wood floors in condo due to water damage. First floors was super easy to deal with! They sent us floor samples to our front door. Once we decided on color ,they scheduled us and got it done! We are so happy with the floors and work they did!

They have installed flooring in my older house and my new one. They installed Hardwood floors and Tile in my first house and carpet in my new one. Excellent quality work and great price.

They helped me with the floor of my house. They gave me a good price. They did it very fast.

This location is the absolute worst. And a bad example of First Floors. I am not sure if they all are ran this way, I think three of them are owned by the same guy. But if they are, they need to be shut down. I am a Custom Home Builder and they totally messed up my order.

I used them for two houses that I was building. Their Salesman/Supervisor Landon Lemmons is horrible. He doesn't know what customer service is, nor how to respect a paying customer. He took my order which was over $30,000 then left the equation. My order was short of supplies and materials. It was never delivered when promised. It was then shipped in bits and pieces. It was over 50% the wrong product. I had delivery drivers go to pick up the re-order, the order was not processed correctly and they had to leave on several occasions. I made several trips to their store as well as numerous phone calls and to this day, 60 days later, Landon still hasn't communicated with me the customer/builder. I ended up working with Jamie, the interior design person. She was a big help. However, I no longer can get answers regarding my refund for a service they did not provide which is approximately $5700 in addition to the money owed for the enormous overage of the wrong product, that I had to personally deliver back to them, in order to keep it from being stolen, after they told me they would have the guys pick it up.

I have tried for over a month to get customer service. I have tried for over 3 weeks to get a resolution to my refund. I'm not one to resort to the internet to talk about a company. But I need all Realtors and Builders to be aware. First Texas is one of there large accounts, and while I was there, they had a GC talking about there order, that was messed up also.

I even asked for their superior, and the CFO, Donna Kirby. I was told that Donna said she would not come speak with me, the customer and that she had nothing to do with it. I asked for the owner. Was told his name is Richard Dobbins, but they wouldn't give me the method to reach him.

To make matters worst, when I was in there the last time, I was asked by them, "do you ever get mad"? I said yes, but I don't have to show it in the manner your are referencing. I assume because I am an African American builder, female at that, they expected me to act in an unprofessional way. I don't have to lower my standards to get the right results. I will let the law do that....

We had great service with Jamie as our designer. She was so helpful with choosing the right colors and textures to work with our existing furniture and overall desired appearance. The installers were on time, so nice and respectful and the work looks beautiful! I will use them again for any other flooring needs in the future

This place is awesome! They walked us thru different carpet samples, found the one we liked,, 2 weeks later 4 men showed up, ripped old out , laid the new carpet 3 bedrooms 2 large living rooms, and stairs ,, bout 4 hrs and we got beautiful carpet that we just love !!!

Great customer service! I only spent $2 and five minutes and they really just made my life easier after my dog chewed up my carpet foam. If I ever have to get new floors I'll be seeing them again :)

2 crews were scheduled, 1 for wood floors, the other for tile.

Crews arrived on time and worked efficiently and professionally.

The only issue was regarding the tile work. Their was some miscommunication on what work was to be completed, but was worked out and the install went smoothly.

Had them match existing hand scraped hardwood floors. Installers did a great job, were courteous, and paid attention to detail. Office/support staff were professional and helpful as well. We'll use them again when we do the rest of our house.

First Floors has been very professional with our recent flooring installation. Kay, in the office, did an awesome job getting us the flooring we wanted. Richard, the owner, has gone above and beyond to make sure we are highly satisfied! Would highly recommend them & will use them again for future projects. Thank you for the wonderful service!

Do not use this place. This store lack integrity and competence. Sales lady Jamie Brooks is a disaster. Two weeks of calling and going into this store to arrange measurements. Never a return phone call despite message after message. I really pray this business fails there are so many hard working people around and unfortunately places like this make consumers very very Leary.

We needed to have some grout repaired on a back-splash by the stove top. The repairs were made quickly. The technician answered all of my questions, in a very professional manner. The finished product looked brand new.

Rick and his team are amazing! Professional and knowledgeable. From beginning to end they explained to every step of the process. All we can say is they were amazing and made the process of getting our floor replaced and stained painless even fun! The floors look fabulous, gorgeous and absolutely beautiful. We would recommend them to everyone wanting outstanding looking hardwood floors.
