Would not go back. Hospitality low.

Would not go back. Hospitality low.
We stayed for 3 nights, but on very first night we wanted to leave. we were put into very small, dark room in Garden suite, had to ring and ask if we can have room in castle and we had room. Don't understand why we that same room in castle was not offered on first place. From the look there was quit a few rooms free?????
Some bar staff were sharp and rude, left us feel unwelcome.when i ask barman on very first night, which gin would he recommend, he answered quite sharp " i don't know and i don't drink gin" and walked away. Second night we did not use bar or restaurant. on our last night we went for dinner in lounge area, we were waiting more then 30 min for someone to take our food order, after us asking and stopping few waitresses we got served.then we were offered desert menu, we were ready to order but again we waited for 20-40 min and no one come over to take order, We felt unwelcome and uncomfortable and just left lounge area. When we walked into Jim's bar, man behind the bar was so friendly and we had a such a lovely evening there and enjoyed live music.Felt like we were in different hotel. I wish that all staff in Finnstown Castle Hotel would be like barman in Jim's bar on sat night, if I remember correct his name was Savvas, man from Greece.
P.S SAVVAS YOU MADE OUR NIGHT. Thanks

points. Main house and the surrounding property are quite lovely. Management is clearly getting a majority of their revenue stream.from wedding and parties. I would agree as the grounds are well kept and extremely picturesque and aesthetically pleasimg.
Our room was in the wing outside of the main Residence of the estate. The furniture in the room had seen better days with the tops of the table, the headboard and the desk all damaged. The bed was comfortable but the pillows cheap and lumpy.
On the first day we noticed that the door to the room would not close properly with the automatic closer. It had to be pulled roughly to close. Additionally, the wash sink in the bathroom was draining extremely slowly and backing up. We informed the front desk so these items could be addressed while we were out. We returned after 12 hours away to find the door to our room ajar. Apparently the housekeeper failed to realize the issue with the door as well. Thank goodness it appeared that no one had entered the room. Upon preparing for bed we noticed the bathroom sink was still not draining which made it clear that no one had come to address the issues while we were out.
Notified the front desk of the issues once again just before having breakfast in the dining room. Again we said we would be out all day and requested the issues be resolved. Came home 12 hours later only to find the exact same situation - room door ajar and the sink still not working.
Decided we would check out the next day rather than add nights at the location. Today we see that they charged our credit card, that was used for incidentals, for the room bill even though we booked and prepaid for out stay. We called the location and they said they would have to investigate and Management would need to review. At the time no one from the Management team was available to speak with us and rectify. Sadly we will need to follow-up with the property again!

Nice hotel. Always a nice experience. Great for a relaxing weekend with the family. Ensure you book the Peacock Restaurant when booking your room. We booked family deal for b&b and dinner. Love going there for preChristmas break.

Beautiful on the outside, in need of a refurbishment on the inside.

A lot about this place is truly beautiful, but it s looking very tired inside.
The bedding linen is very poor, feeling used and cheap. The most disappointing aspect is the decor with stains on the walls with poorly cleaned rooms.

I had high hopes for this venue but I feel a tad over promised and under delivered.

Staff are very happy and wonderfully friendly with good food not too overpriced.

Run of the mill hotel with very outdated decor. Service in a Sunday for coffee and dessert seemed every slow and disorganised. For such a nice location externally, the inside needs a major revamp. Really not inspiring to sit in.

Great when it's beer garden weather. The front of the hotel has a good amount of picnic tables. These have table service for food and drink. Inside is old fashioned design to suit the style of the house. Lots of small areas to get a seat and around 3 bars. Theres also a good variety of food ranging from pub grub to a la carte.

Very nice building.

Very nice building.
However we were given a room on the ground floor of the more modern adjacent building, just next to elevator. We could hear people coming and going all night and hear the sound of the elevator moving and speaking every time it was used, so did not have good sleep at all.

Wonderful breakfast and beautiful old house.unfortunately we were in a new build seperated from the old house. The new build was only ok for a 4 star Hotel with no bottle water or tissues in the room. Kept awake by noise of people talking and cars coming and going until about 2.30am. All in all a bit disappointing.

Absolutely stunning in EVERY regard. My family felt like royalty and we are tremendously grateful the hotel was able to get us a room. Food, service, room, and facilities were all exceptional. What an experience in Irish Georgian culture.

As you arrive to the hotel it feels like a luxury venue, the gardens are beautifully kept and the Christmas decorations look carefully and tastefully chosen. However, this is where things unfortunately peak. I'm careful not to exaggerate small things. I've read some reviews complaining the sink splattered them for example. Such commentary is ludicrous i feel. However, this hotel has big problems in my opinion under the surface rather like a badly plated piece of gold, the smallest scratch reveals a rather poor metal underneath. The interior is dated and this is not really an issue for me personally but it's by no means 4 star. The toilets however take the award for the "worst toilets I've ever encountered in a working hotel" and I've seen a lot of hotels! The floor was flooded with run off from a wall urinal which was marked as "out of order" and wrapped with a bin bag and what looked like an old mayonnaise buckets catching the drips. This was the toilet left open for use for a wedding party! As well as being a health hazard it was just unacceptable. I would have liked this to have been my only "discovery" but as I ambled around the grounds I came across what appeared to be an actual full size rubbish dump to the rear of the hotel! I can only imagine then number of vermin that it attracts. The staff particularly one of the lady managers on duty was wonderfully welcoming on the plus side. Apart from her, the rest of the staff seemed uninterested. The venue has huge potential to be amazing. I wish the interior was as luxurious as the exterior.

Stunning building in a beautiful location.

Stunning building in a beautiful location.

We arrived a bit early for a function for about 30 people "most" staff were ok about this, but we could feel their discontent about this. Although the majority were helpful and received is well.

Walking around the gardens is very pleasant with many places to sit in or out of the shade.

Just outside the secondary gates are animals enclosure for ostriches, lamas and other animals

Food was beautiful. Nothing too fancy at our function but all served perfectly.

Would visit again to stay or for a meal or function

Mother's day treat

Mother's day treat
Lovely hotel. Nice garden that one could sit or walk on a sunny day. There were children playing on the grass.
2 beautiful Peacocks (male and female). Made our visit so much more memorable.
They both at times spread out their feathers and what a sight. Our table was near the glass doors for Peacock watching.
The restaurant was laid out nicely, fresh flowers on the table. Live music with a pianist gave a gentle atmosphere.
The menu was good. 2 had salmon roulade and 2 had goat's cheese tartlet for starters while l had the very tasty vegetable soup.
For mains our group had the beef, another the chicken and our eldest the fish dish. All was eaten and had good comments. 2 of us had the vegetable strognoff which was ok but wouldn't want again. It tasted tomatoey and the sauce was quite watery which was were this fish failed. The accompany flat bread on menu didn't appear and we didn't bother asking for it.
The waiteress who served us had only started on friday and we found her very pleasant and helpful.
The dessert was a melody and as such no choice which we felt was a let down for 4star hotel. When one of our party asked the waitress to ask if it was possible to have something defferent she said she would find out but then another waitress (blonde hair pinned up high) overheard and said thay dessert was on menu and that was it. She was quite rude to the new waitress and should have spoken a little more civilly when we could hear. But then this girl did not seem polite as my youngest had already commented on how she pushed by her chair and had not apologised. Her chair was very close to chair of next table.
Those that drank the 1 bottle of house malbec said it was nice the rest of us had water. I would have prefered that for the price and this being a 4 star hotel that we be given pots of tea and coffe and not have a cup poured from general pots.
Our family overall had a lovely afternoon and went home happy. We expect to be back.

Lovely hotel. Great music good crowd . Good food from both menus. The leisure centre thats not attached to the main building is filthy dirty the pool is tiny dirty. Changing rooms with no lockers that lick is no more than 16 foot by 10 and dirty. So If your going for the leisure part dont bother. But if it's the hotel that's lovely

For any bride and groom looking to book this venue...

For any bride and groom looking to book this venue for your wedding please DONT. My sister in law has had an absolutely horrendous experience she was due to get married here next year she booked this venue last year so two years in advance of her big day and paid a very large booking deposite to discover a few weeks ago that this venue has also been booked for the same date to another event that has booked out 80% to 90% of the rooms they didn't even have the decentcy to contact her to let her guests know to book in so she sent out her save the dates and when her guests tried to book only then did she discover this had happened the event manager more or less said TUFF when she enquired as to why this had happened any company with any decentcy would let you know of the additional event and give you the opportunity to let your guests book. Nothing was offered to her but Rudeness. She has since had to book another venue and paid another deposite else where somewhere that her guests can actually come to her wedding and stay and be able to relaxe and enjoy the day without the hassle of having to organise transport home or to an additional venue that has rooms something that she thought this hotel could offer and was PROSMISED it would be available to her.
This venue has offered her no compensation not one penny of her deposite back or even offered any kind of apology. This is most definitely not the type of place I would like to spend the happiest day with your family and friends this has been a horrible experience for her and a lot of extra stress please dont put yourself through this BOOK ANOTHER VENUE

The only reason for not giving 5 stars is I haven't had a chance to spend a night at the hotel. I was at this venue few days ago for a meeting. There is a long path from the main road to the hotel, and it's worth the trip. The outside view is amazing, giving you the feeling this place is unique. I hope to visit this hotel in the future for few days.
