The hotel is beautiful but the mattresses are rubbish. My arm fell asleep in the middle of the night because the springs cut off my circulation. You can feel each and every spring in the mattress. One light bulb in the room was burnt out so it was very dark. They never brought a replacement bulb despite my request. Tissue boxes were empty. Shower handle was loose. You can hear people slamming doors all night. However, breakfast wasn't bad for the money and free WiFi is nice.

Firstly there is no way this hotel should be allowed to display the four stars that they do on their website nor allow Google to allow the word 4 stars anywhere near the hotel title. At the most it warrants a 3 star and I shall tell you why.Last week I was in a proper 4 star hotel Citywest in Dublin. The difference is night and day.
1) The staff - What makes a hotel is its staff. The staff here were meh. Pleasant enough but not one member went out of their way to make you feel welcome. The waitress couldn't even manage a smile never mind a word of welcome. The female staff at the swimming pool was more interested in her mobile phone that showing any sign of courtesy.
2) The premises - There was some grand paintings and period furniture dotted about the place but that was not enough to warrant 4 stars. The swimming pool looks blue in the photos but is in fact yellowy / green. There were spiders and cobwebs all over the changing rooms which looked like they were around in the Victorian ages. The showers were pathetic both by the pool and in the changing rooms.

Food) The only saving grace of this hotel was that there was plentiful food at breakfast ranging from cereal to a cooked breakfast otherwise it would be just 2 stars.
If you want a proper 4 star hotel look elsewhere.

We stayed there for 2 nights. Don't get fooled by the beautiful first impression when driving to the hotel grounds. Never been to a hotel which has mastered the art of deception so well.

The advertised "new" training & spa area might have been new in the 1980s. The pool - located in a vitreously side building looked so uninviting that we desisted from entering.

The rooms are quite dark, as there are only floor/desk lamps.

Wifi was disabled due to scheduled system upgrade, without prior notification.

The bar played techno music on max volume well into the middle of the night, which is awesome if your room is right next to it... not.

The service personnel couldnt be less interested in doing their job. We waited like 20 mins to be served, and another 20 mins for cake and coffee. The blonde waitress displayed here feelings of disgust very visible on her face.

Food itself was overpriced and average. We stayed in a couple of cheap B&Bs during our visit to Ireland which served food twice as good.

Transport connections are fine. There's a bus going from the next street to Dublin city center which takes like 45mins.

Recommendation: Don't stay there.

Looks lovely, but the bed should have been changed 3 years ago resulting in a poor nights sleep. Rooms are large and very clean and the house has good facilities. Charging points for the car outside the door. For this reason the hotel got 3 stars. A new mattress and it would be 4.5

We were a party of 9 for my mums 80th birthday for Sunday dinner. I have been to finnstowns on a good few occassions as i live in Lucan so i suggested we go there to celebrate my mums special day. We had requested a table near the entrance because of my Mums age which we got but unfortunately with both doors to the restaurant and the main door open there was a dreadful breeze coming in and we all had to leave our jackets/jumpers on. We ordered our meal and our starters arrived quite promptly, though we weren't asked if we wanted my daughters children's meal early, and it arrived with our starters so she was finished her meal v early which wasn't ideal. Then we had to wait nearly an hour for our main course. I said it to the waitress twice about the delay, she eventually went to check, came back to say sorry it will be here soon, which it wasn't. When it eventually arrived the food was only so so, the beef was overcooked, burnt at the edges. This is totally unacceptable really, its not a cheap restaurant so i would be expecting better food and service. Very disappointed, especially as it was a special day for my mum, we wont be back in a hurry which is such a pity because the house and grounds are beautiful. Just to say the waiter who served us near the end of our meal was lovely.

Big deterioration in standards of service generally and quality of food in the restaurant. The Ladies toilets were certainly not up to standard and were not being monitored during the evening.

I felt this hotel exceded my expectations. From the price of the room and how it was marketed on Trivago, I was under the impression it may be a bit seedy. It was not at all seedy. I couldn't fault the room which is unusual, perhaps my only qualm was that a fairground was slightly audible in the early evening. However I felt very carefree and there was certainly a relaxing ambience around the place, It was a great place to retire after a day of travelling or business. The peacock that was patrolling the perimeter added a very slight tinge of class resulting with a very comfortable 4/5 ****.

Afternoon tea was good but the service was dreadful. Seems the hotel were under resourced with too many party bookings. Had to ask for sugar and milk. Teas and coffee were cold by time food arrived. We were given a bill deduction due to the bad service

Stayed here in early June for a wedding.

On check in the receptionist was not very friendly or welcoming. Bit clueless as to what's going on. Had to ask her where and when was breakfast or where could we eat..

I work my self in the hotel industry presently for last 12 years and being to plenty hotels around Ireland so i know what I'm talking about.

Room was clean and warm.

Paid an extra 35 upgrade to stay in the main hotel and it's 100 % not worth it. As it's the smallest hotel room I've ever stayed in my life.

Grounds outside was lovley service in general was very good. The bar manager was excellent at his job.

Lovley girl working in the main hotel Abbey i think her name was. Very friendly.

Wedding was good fun bar staff were good..

Food in general is only ok..

Leisure Centre small but gym area good..
Swimming pool area could do with a tidy/clean up.

Wouldn't stay again.

The food in the restaurant was just ok. The meat was dry and bland. We stayed in an out building & it was falling apart. We told the desk about it but the discrepancies were never repaired, including the phone in our room that didn t work. No air conditioning either. We probably won t be returning to this establishment in the future. The bar staff was also lacking in the attention department. I sat with an empty glass for a long time.

It was a splendid stay!! Very quiet, Incredibly scenic and beautiful. A great place to get peace of mind!!! I only had one moment with a gentleman concierge who was super impatient and rude at the very end of what was otherwise a brilliant stay. I was simply asking him to call a cab, but he couldn't be bothered, so I called using data I don't have. Any who, I didn't get the chance to experience all amenities as I was only there for a day, but I got to stay in the main house, and it was the best. I'd surely stay again.

If a hadn't spent the week walking here, there and everywhere I was driving here, there and everywhere, so a very well deserved final nights stay in a beautiful and picturesque hotel topped off a very exhausting but thoroughly enjoyable week. Definitely the Cherry on top for me. Perfect location to catch a flight the following morning, very comfortable spacious rooms. Beautiful dinner and of course a refreshing pint of the black stuff. Staff were all friendly and those I spoke with were very helpful. I would recommend to others without hesitation.

Really nice cozy and tranquil setting...the only negative was the loud music playing late into the night and eary in the morning made sleep difficult ...spike with reception on departure and they were at a loss y understand where the music was coming from...would have given 5 stars as the stay was good with this one exception .

I gave 3* becuase the man who looked after us was very friendly and the grounds were beautiful. But we sat down for food and 30 minutes later no one came to take our order. I even tried to call someone over and i was told they are coming and never did. We left.

Although the gardens are beautiful and well kept and the Peacock restaurant food is very good, the rooms need some work done. Several in our group complained on the condition of the bed's mattresses and the fact that the rooms dont have air conditioners forces you to open the windows and have to deal with the noises from the parking lot. One of the couples travelling with us had a problem with the shower which was never solved satisfactorily during their 4 night stay. The impression is that is was great some years ago but they have let it go.

Good first impression... the gym and leisure facilities are rubbish.... our room was beside a fire escape which was opening and closing all night with an almighty bang each time it closed. The girl at the desk was friendly.. but no one asked if we enjoyed our stay ... it's Good enough if you just need somewhere to stay with a decent breakfast.

The hotel is fine, I just dislike the null attention with the clients with being inflexible at the closing time of the kitchen. At 9 o'clock.
Well, we do not have dinner today, which is 9:01!
In Spain we have another concept of customer service.
