Lovely secluded Hotel with a great menu and friendly service!
Had afternoon tea today . It was very tasty lots of lovely cakes and sandwiches
Amazing Hotel. Always such a treat to stay hear. Staff are so friendly and the grounds are immaculate. Rooms are cosy and food is superb. A fantastic experience
I think when advertising certain packages on your website ie 'Couples Autumn escape' comes with a certain expectation. Arriving to a room not ready, then shuffled off to an annex building around the side of a house in the rain to a room which have frosted glass doors where you feel no privacy at all with people smoking just outside you door/window and people literally getting in and out of cars a few feet from this frosted glass does not scream escape. The package notes 'Romantic break' and 'Prosecco in room on arrival' which wasn t in our room on arrival we had to ask the manager George. We were not happy with the privacy aspect of the room we were given on arrival so reception sent over Manager George who came and graciously moved us to an upper level room upon request after listening to our concerns. George was very helpful and very quick to rectify the room situation. We also mentioned about the prosecco and that was sent over in 20mins to us. then after this we were able to relax and enjoy our surroundings. There's no doubt the hotel is in a beautiful setting, the staff are very accommodating in the restaurant and bar but i do feel the overall condition of the hotel could do with a loving upgrade. There is a difference between old country manor and shabby chic with the emphasis more on shabby than chic. I attended a wedding here a few years ago and found the hotel to have deteriorated since then. The meal in the Peacock restaurant was very nice, the ambience was lovely and the staff were very attentive and friendly. overall i think the hotel is missing a few points to really make it something special rather than rely on its name to see it through the future. i think when checking in you should be informed where all the facilities are in the hotel, the bar and general decor needs a refurb and i think for special packages there should be an option to pay extra to stay in the main part of the hotel.
I would have to say i probably wouldn't stay here again and would not consider it for a potential wedding venue in the future unless it dramatically changed. Although i did enjoy my stay it did not meet my expectations.
Great food in the Peacock restaurant. You got to try the steak and afterwards the bramley apple crumble tartlet & stewed berries. Great staff and a comfortable and welcoming location. Will be back
Lovely ambience and lovely food, highly recommend..
Love the home from home, feel location so handy for driving anywhere around Dublin.
I love this hotel, it's perfect for a cosy chat, or a get together with friends, the bar food is lovely, but the afternoon teas are my favourite, and reasonably priced for all the little goodies.
Nice old style venue. Food was lovely. My only disappointment was the fact they did not serve a well know lager despite the fact it is sold in the majority of venues. I will return.
Lovely Hotel excellent accommodation..food great ...service not great!
Very disappointed I was there as geast will not go back
Lovely hotel, beautiful grounds, friendly, helpful staff.will stay again
A fantastic Hotel with beautiful gardens and a great atmosphere and the price is right.
So far so good, Asleigh, or Ashley, check in/ check out girl helped me on a side issue...10 stars to her, hotel is a great venue imho.
Food was nice but the price for food and drinks was to dear the place is old if you like that
Excellent level of service highly recommend, a peaceful place with pleasant surroundings
One star, only cos I can't give zero. Ordered lunch for 3 people at 1:15, one sandwich arrived, not what was ordered off the menu. No sign of the other 2 lunches an 1:45. It wasnt even busy. Left and went to the lord Lucan. I won't be in a hurry back. Very disappointing. I've had lovely lunches there in the past.
Nice rooms, loved the wood furniture. This place is a magnet for wedding receptions. I ate off the property to avoid all the noise. I would definitely stay here again.
Good
food and great staff , good service
Great experience! Very fun place with animals roaming the grounds, Food was good too!
Was attending a funeral afters, fantastic service and touches
Top hotel very nice from the outside and inside. Well kept and clean, quiet and pleasant. Good breakfast the rooms are especially the top bathtub. The place around is great for relaxation.
Fabulous hotel on smashing grounds. Food was lovely. Staff are good too
Beautiful scenery Good accommodation satisfactory service
Gorgeous place. Excellent wedding venue. Very pleasant staff.
Pretty old equipment, but clean. Breakfast was good. Many options.
I was robbed at this hotel and then the manager proceeded to treat me like garbage and said it was my fault! Turns out this hotel is surrounded by an extremely bad neighborhood and that the hotel has absolutely no security to prevent crime. According to the hotel manager I should have known better than to park my Vespa scooter in the parking lot directly in front of my room, where it was stolen. When I went looking around the grounds, hoping I d find my bike stashed in the woods, I found numerous places where the perimeter fence had been cut, providing access to the run down council apartment developments I hadn t even realized surround the place (see photos). The worst part was the managers response - he offered me not so much as a conciliatory shot of Irish whiskey. He laughed rudely in my face when I finally asked what the hotel was going to do to make this right! I mean, my vacation is ruined!! My wife is in tears. We had planned to visit Dublin for the day, see some museums, now we re stuck in a crappy Irish suburb talking to the police. We have no transportation, and there s nothing within walking distance save for this hotel s overpriced and underwhelming restaurant and bar. And I ll starve before I ll give these people any more of my money!
Great food, great atmosphere, great staff. A world away from from frenetic city life. Relax and savour...
Everything perfect, spectacular hotel, courtesy, kindness, it's the second time we've come and we'll do it again
I have noticed the hotel slipping in recent years with regard to staff they are nice but run off there feet, you are waiting to long to get your food . I went last Wednesday for lunch the food was cold when i got it . I feel the place is loosing its charm that it once had .
Great Hotel.Clean, friendly Staff.Overall very enjoyable.Grounds really nice lay out.
Wonderful and characterful. A bit out of the way if you are relying on public transport to sight see (though it is do able). Caters for a lot of weddings, very good location for a reception.
The food was excellent but unfortunately the service was very slow. I could not understand this as the Resturant was not full.
Had a good time at a wedding. Didnt stay the night tho.
I always enjoy a couple of Pints in here which are always enjoyable with the relaxing atmosphere after a lovely walk around the Castle
Very beautiful. My only issue was the state of the swimming pool changing rooms, which were quite dirty. Well worth staying in though
We were a group of 4 for afternoon tea food was lovely but the service was awful 6 times we had to go to reception to ask for a waitress to order some drinks. We were surrounded by empty uncleared tables. Would not return
Had an excellent experience...home away from home feeling.
Very enjoyable meal lovely service very good and quick
A nice country house hotel in the heart of lucan . A pleasant experience.
Beautiful setting. Classic rooms without more in the modern annex. Bar with friendly meal service. Honest price.
Very pittoresque, I want to visit it when it will be open again
Always a pleasure to go there. Love the front lounge.
Me and my booked a room for 2 nights. Such a pleasant stay. Room was lovely, spacious, comfy. Dinner was absolutely wonderful, waiters were so quick to bring out food. All the staff were absolutely friendly. Can t wait to go back again in the summer time!
Staff Rooms Food all need to improve. Parking is good
I went to a Chistmas party here and it was fabulous! A beautiful building with the decor to match. All plush red carpet and paintings in gilt frames. The food is excellent and was hot when it came to the table. The staff are helpful and skilled. There was a very well stocked bar but it was really civilised. Altogether a really classy joint.
Was here for a short break with my wife. We didn t stay in the hotel itself but around the corner in the new building. The bed was not that comfortable but the room was nice and big enough for us both.
The bar was small and cosy and the staff were very polite and helpful. We sat and had dinner then drinks in the front of the house. Nice room with some lovely paintings on display.
Breakfast was okay with the usual Was here for a short break with my wife. We didn t stay in the hotel itself but around the corner in the new building food on offer in their buffet.
The grounds are nice to walk around, the main house is very nice.
Would come back again.
You would think when you had your vehicle stolen, the staff wouldn t laugh in your face and would try to help you out! Well, no wonder why Trump loves this bog roll.
Great facility terrific stay and service,, make the pool bigger though
Afternoon tea was wonderful. Staff very professional and attentive. Will definitely return
Not a good experience I was there as a guest and will not go back.
I there for wedding can't fault it. Wedding breakfast was gorgeous
A step back in time, beautiful old buildings, fantastic gardens. Peacocks roam freely and the food first class. Staff who looked after us were professional and kind. Will be happy to go back.
Very impressive.
Wonderful ambience.
Great care.
Been here a few times for different occasions. Grounds are beautiful and the staff very friendly
My room was located in the building that is outside the castle, side area, they have good size, the bad thing is that there is a lot of musty smell, in the bathroom the extractor does not work. The site needs an urgent restoration ...
My room was located in the outside building of the Castle (lateral area), It has a good size. The bad thing is that there is a lot of humidity in the room, the bathroom extractor does not work ... All the place needs to be renovated as looks very old and musty ...
Lovely Hotel on its own grounds. Not far from Dublin City. Wheelchair friendly and great staff.
Wonderful venue which provides an out in the countryside experience on the fringe of the city. Great ambiance.
Horrible place. Disgusting treatment. Push over staff. Discriminatory towards non-Irish customers. Ignorant, uneducated and unpleasant to look at and speak to. Bully, arrogant. Very self centered, only interested in our money and amount they re getting from the people. Zero humanity. Absent management. No one to complain to. Avoid that place at any means ! Save your mental health!!!
Beautiful hotel and grounds, but often understaffed which means service can suffer. Delicious food and grandiose beauty in venue, and the gym is also a great feature
Hotel clean and comfortable.staff very helpful especially lady called Freda . Highly recommend.
Hotel itself is in a lovely setting and place but the poor management and lack of customer service would stop me from ever recommending this place unfortunately. If I was even asked how was my stay, I would have dealt with it at the hotel but I wasn't and quite happy to leave. I chose to eat down the road at the Lord Lucan where both the food and service was brilliant.
Nice venue, the restaurant was excellent and the staff is friendly
