Had a great time here today. Came on tax day (April 15th) to celebrate my tax dollars at work. When we first arrived there was a quick security screening and then we were allowed in. It seems we might have been the first ones there because we had the place all to ourselves. There were a lot of interactive and informative displays. It is very well put together, clean and well maintained. Plus you get a free souvenir (shredded money)!

The Money Museum was small, but very interactive and fun. It's a good quick stop.

There were a lot of very interesting artifacts that tell the history of money in America. There were a lot of very interactive displays for kids. I don't have kids, but when I do if I'm in Chicago, this is a great place to go.

Our presenter was amazing. He was so well informed about so much of their operations and why they do some of the things they do. So much cool information. Also you get a free bag of shredded money. One thing they could change is to have some sort of small gift shop. Other than that it was perfect.

Free museum, with lots of money on display. The rotating cube of cash is a neat photo, and the shredded bills make an interesting (and free) souvenir. Museum is on the first level, and you will need to have your items run through an x-ray machine before entering. Self tour is on the shorter side, 30-45 minutes, but worth it if you are interested in the history of US currency.

I wish there was more for younger kiddos, but it provided a nice respite from a cold day and we all learned something new! Super cute photo opportunities, including designing your own money! The kids loved that they could have a baggie of shredded money.

It's interesting there, they explained everything about money, how they makes, how to recognize fakes, stay in room with 2 million dollars! Even make photo of you and print. Everything is free

Excellent tour and free bags of shredded money. Test your skill trying to detect counterfeit bills. Stay for the presentation and ASK QUESTIONS. THEY KNOW THINGS. I only stumped him once, asking how of possession of counterfeit bills wasn't illegal (without intent to distribute), if I wasn't manufacturing them, could I actually collect counterfeit bills? He didn't know lol.

BRING I.D. OR YOU ARE NOT GETTING IN. PERIOD. Our kid had no ID but got in, she is 9

A small but interesting museum in downtown Chicago. It is federal and therefore free. At the entrance they will be asked to show some kind of certificate, check the bag and pass through the frame - the bank, and even so important - the Federal Reserve .. Actually everything. Technically very rich. A lot of interactive screens, places for photographing ... It makes sense to visit. I like this.

When in the Loop you should make time to stop at the Chicago Fed Money Museum off the lobby of the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago! This museum is great for all ages with lots of activities and learning opportunities and so much history its worth the visit. Be sure to have a valid government issued ID for gaining access to the museum. There's airport type security to get into the museum as well. You have a chance to see different types of current and old currency. You can have your photo take with $1,000,000.00 in a briefcase as well while in the museum. It's always a fun trip to take to check this museum out.

My experience at the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago was extraordinary. This museum is free of charge and no additional fee for entrance. The meanie is fairly small since it s only on the first floor. If you want a brief description of what the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago then this is a place to bring your family and kids. I enjoyed viewing the historic history and viewing the old currency. I would recommend this place to anyone interested in learning about the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago.

The Money Museum in the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago is a small museum that won t keep you all day, but is worth a tour if you re a fan of cold, hard cash. They lead daily tours at 1 pm, or you can check out the various exhibits on your own. One of the best features is an exhibit showing you how to tell a real bill from a counterfeit. The best part? You ll leave with a free bag of shredded cash to do with as you please.

Best part about this museum it's free.

Best part about this museum it's free.

Be prepared to go through the TSA and your ID be checked. The museum has many interactive exhibits for the family and tells the history of the Federal Reserve notes and the emergence of money from colonial times up to the present day.

It's a small museum but one of the great places to bring kids. The money museum is centrally located inside the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago and very close to Revival Food Hall and not that far from Willis Tower.

The hop on and off bus tour guide mentioned they give old shredded money on certain days. We missed it.

Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago Money Museum was interesting, entertaining, free and I even received gifts, namely a souvenir photo and a small sack of shredded money. In addition, the staff was friendly and helpful. To conclude, I highly recommend to people staying in Chicago for sightseeing to visit this museum.

I went here with my mom, sister and a group of teen girls. Everyone enjoyed the visit and you can't beat the free admission. It's a small museum you would only need an hour or less here. Afterwards we walked over to millennium park, about a 15 minute walk.

An interesting museum, and funnily enough for being about money, it's free. Not too crowded either, so if you'd like a quiet place that's free to visit for as long as you like, it's a good choice.

The money museum was super fun - it's awesome for being a free museum too. Lots of great history and interactive exhibits. It was definitely worth popping by. I got to walk away with a bunch of fun photos and a bag of shredded money.

Not a typical tween, but my kid really enjoyed it. The interactive displays captured his attention most. I liked the historical descriptions, especially where there s a blurb to read quickly if your party is rushing you along. Of course longer explanations are appreciated too when they re easy to read. Some artifacts were borrowed from the Field Museum.

Happened to stumble upon this museum when browsing the downtown area and was so glad to have been curious to check it out. The Money Museum is small, but free and a great look into the history of money in America. Any and everything you would like to know, it is covered here. From money during wartime to how money is destroyed, you'll learn about it here. It's also VERY interactive, you can grab a bag of shredded money, take photos with cubes and briefcases of a million dollars, and even make your own money. The team here was able to take a small space and make it one of the best stops on a visit to Chicago.

Great free museum with an interesting video and plenty of really fun exhibits. Grab a few bags of shredded currency on the way out for free.

Spoiler: the million dollar case...not filled with real cash. Sorry. :)

An interesting museum which has an good touring exhibit on the redlining of Chicago right now. The only negative about this museum is it's in a bank, which means its only open during banking hours. Not a problem if you're a tourist, but it makes it hard to visit if you're a local.

Free! Kid-friendly! Educational! Each time I visit I learn something new. Also, the old money on display is so cool to see! My 6 year old was entertained, and I also saw teenagers there having a great time
