The Exploratorium is a fun place when it is not over crowded. For the Cannabis exhibit they recently had I wish they had more visual attractions focused around Cannabis or even interactive units that can be participated in by legal medical users. Overall the content they have within is interesting. Maybe it was just the Atmosphere!

Went on a field trip with other teachers and our students and it was extremely fun and interactive. It was eye opening for the students seeing science first hand and playing with it. Wish I had more time there, I will definitely go back to explore more. I also loved the view of the bay and bay bridge.
This is the best museum in San Francisco!! Their move only helped the museum but I miss the old building and I miss the free parking. If you're an EBT card holder you can get into the museum for free. It's such an amazing place for your kids, unforgettable.
If you're legal drinking age, do the Thursday night After Dark visit. A lot of fun and great way to see the exhibits without any kids. Drinks are pricey, but delicious
Absolutely a ton of fun! I highly recommend checking it out! Great for adults and kids! However if you're only going with adults I recommend the adult only evenings . Much better when you have a few drinks and don't need to "bump" kids off of an exhibit so you can try it out!
Very well organized sections, I visited all. East gallery about living systems is worth watching. Liked ecosystems. North gallery about winds and tides is good. Helpful staff at Bechtel central gallery, she explained me concepts about sounds really very well. Thanks Nina. And the best thing, landscape area. Cheerful staff explaining Nasa's research videos, Wonderful view of the city at one side and ocean on the other side. Got to know geography and ecology of the Bay Area. Seaglass restaurant has awesome view and food definitely! So, it just made my day exciting and happy!
A must visit place for all science enthusiasts when they are around San Francisco Bay area. I felt like my scientific mind found a place to feast. There are several exhibits which grabs the interest of all ages starting from kids to elders. I spent more time in their maker space corner. Also I loved the kids corners which are perfectly designed to enhance fine motor skills.
A fantastic place for adults and children. The exhibits are all beautifully designed and interactive, with minimal text. And the tactile dome is truly a cool experience.
Great museum! But the changing table in the men's room before the entrance is only about 2 feet high! It would be great if it were at least a foot higher.
We went for college night. One of the funnest things I've done in a while. There are so many different exhibits to check out. I would definitely check this out if you haven't yet
My 5 and 7 year old kids love this place, and the varied experiments and experiences keeps them engaged all day!! We have taken an annual pass, so we go there many times. But, the ambience could be brighter and chirping for kids and adults too. It looks more like a large warehouse turned into a museum!
Fun place to explore and the upgraded facility is great! Many of the exhibits are geared more towards children in elementary to Junior high, so be mindful if your kids are younger as it might be too advanced for them. The staff is extremely helpful and very friendly!
It is an awesome place to spend several hours. So many things to see and to try. Sunday is not over packed and in the early morning you can find free parking on the streets.
Great location, along the Embarcadero. This is one of the first and best interactive museums. It has a number of exhibits that will appeal to all ages, especially effective for kids who learn by manipulation.
Your $15 admission ticket gets you: - 4 hours of fun (6pm - 10pm on Thursdays) - Adults only - 2 bars with beers, ciders, and cocktails - Tons of hands on activities and exhibits
One of my favorite exhibits at the Exploratorium was the Shadow Box. In this room, they use large phosphor screens that stores light from a strobe flash. This "freezes" your shadow for a limited amount of time. It fades in a minute, but it's nice to know when the flash will go off again because they have a timer. What's even cooler about catching your shadow is that you can use a flashlight to "draw" on the walls. It turns out looking like glow in the dark paint!
The Exploratorium After Dark is perfect for a date or just an outing with your girl friends. Ch-ch-check it out! Highly recommended!
Extremely fun place to take people of any age. You can visit a couple of times and not run out of things to see. Some metered street parking nearby and there s a parking garage for $15 with the code on their website. Plenty of public transit options too. If you have EBT, you can get in for free along with four family members!
A highlight of my trip to SF! Very cool, very interactive, very educational, never boring. The price was well worth it, and the lessons here are great for kids and adults. A fantastic balance of different scientific disciplines. We saw their social games exhibit, and it was amazing fun to naturally interact with strangers there.
This is easily one of the most fun and interactive science museums that I've ever visited. I only had a day to explore, and I easily could have spent another day. Words don't do it justice, so I added a series of photos to Google Maps to join the many others of this great place.
We visited the After Dark exhibition. I absolutely loved it. Very hands-on demos. Appropriate for kids and grown-ups alike. Will definitely visit again. The themes are varied: sound, light, social experiments, art, etc
Great exhibits, lots of hands on things for kids of all ages. Only drawback is the cafe. If you are being young kids pack your own lunch. Very limited choice for them. Otherwise plenty of choices for adults and older kids.
Great place to spend an afternoon or a whole day. You can actually learn a lot about the world if you're not just running around looking at all the flashy lights, although it is a great way to distract the kids.
It's a giant physics playground great for kids that like to engage hands on and adults will have fun also brings the inner child out a bit...a bit over crowded but other than that small complaint well worth it
This is a great place where science, art and fun come together. A must to visit regardless of age. Bring comfortable shoes, you will be running from one exhibit to another!
Words are not enough to describe how much I love it. While other Museum say don't touch this says touch everything. It lets you experiment Explorer and learn more about science. My son enjoyed it immensely so it's good for all ages. It is definitely worth the price of admission for all the stuff that you get to see, touch, and learn. They even have little learning stations where the staff show you different items and how they work. They even have a dissecting 1 where you dissect a real animal I or heart or something. It offers you a lot and it asks you to come back in like the most awesome way possible. By having more exhibits. When you guys are in San Francisco absolutely check out the Exploratorium it'll be worth it!
The actual museum inside I would say would be more designated toward 12 and under. However--the park surrounding the Exploratorium is sense of peace. The grand pillars, the hills of green grass, the flowing willow tree. Oh, that willow tree, when I saw it i grabbed my book and spent two hour just reading under it. I just lost track of time. I will say that my younger brother that was 9 at the time could not stop talking about the museum. I found this place a massive reading cove that I cannot wait till I go back.
This place instills and reinforces a love of learning and science in everyone who passes through its doors. Bring the young, the old, the creative, and the uninspired here to revel in the power of exploration.
