Everyone needs to visit the MoPop. They always have new exhibits to check out, and have the SoundLab...ah, you gotta go. They have a variety of different instruments, some small studios - you could learn to play everything. It is so amazing, we even got a membership. Take your friends! Wear comfy shoes!

The Pop Culture Museum has some awesome exhibits, but I was a bit disappointed to see how little had changed since my visit 5 years ago. The museum has awesome exhibits on sci-fi, horror, fantasy, Nirvana, Pearl Jam and more. What makes this museum special is the immersive way each section is themed - Sci-Fi is themed like a space ship, Horror has body bags hanging from the ceiling, etc. Really Cool! The music exhibits are also amazing and the gift shop is top notch. Make sure you don t miss the hall of fame , it s a bit hidden but has some really cool items from recent movies and shows. It is recommended that you buy your ticket in advance to avoid the sometimes crazy lines at the ticket booths.

Well ran museum and kept. Nirvana and Hendrix displays are nice (was hoping more artifacts related to Jimi here). The GA cost of $28 I felt was a bit high as the Pearl Jam exhibit contained majority of items I saw before at PJ20. The 31 Days of Horror made it all balance out for my visit.

This is THE most important museum in Seattle! A Guggenheim creation, it was originally dedicated as the Experience Music Project or the EMP. Commissioned by local Microsoft founder, musician, and cultural philanthropist, Paull Allen. Now known as MoPop it retains its connection to music, especially local Northwest artists. As a proud Charter Member, I encourage everyone to visit often! :)

The Museum of Pop Culture is a great experience to learn about different aspects of acting, movies, and its influence on today's culture. Like everything at Seattle Center, it is quite expensive, but we thought it was highly worth it. Modern, well designed museum with lots of interesting exhibits such as the Star Trek, Horror, Fantasy, and Sci Fi which display famous artifacts and movie props, as well as giving insight behind the films themselves. Would recommend if in the area to stop by.

Fantastic exhibits! The instrument tornado is hella impressive and the guitar exhibit blew me away. They allow no - flash photography... I must have taken pictures of everything! Definitely a must see for anyone!

Interesting museum - rude service

I visited this museum using the city pass and was pleasantly surprised by the movie exhibits but the employees ruined it for me. Upon entering I was greeted by a woman behind the desk who was extremely rude to my entire group. It was a small group of college students we were being nice and were astonished by the utterly rude responses we received by the woman. The museum wasn't even busy i dont know what her problem was.

It only got worse from there.

I got SCREAMED at to not use flash when taking photos.... My flash wasnt even on. I think the staff member saw the reflection of the light on the guitar and thought it was flash. Either way, she didn't need to yell. To make it worse, some lil kiddo next to me got scared by her yelling and cried. Yikes.

Another staff member seemed annoyed when i asked a question. Yikes. Yikes. Yikes.

Either this establishment is treating their staff horribly resulting in the horrible moods or they are simply hiring a bunch of salty and rude people. Theres obviously a problem here and i don't recommend supporting this by giving them your money.

Staff members were not well trained on rules which led to a lot of inconsistencies. One staff member told me selfie sticks were allowed. In the next exhibit room, the next staff member said selfie sticks were NOT allowed.

I adore the MoPop. We've been members for years and I love it. There is something for everyone in your family.
Young kids (3-8) though may not have the stamina for looking at all the great things, but I felt very comfortable with my baby in a stroller.

I have lived in Washington for over 10 years and have always wanted to go to this museum but, never had the opportunity or the will to drive to seattle but, I am so thrilled that I finally had the chance and the will to make it happen. Me and my younger brother had so much fun. I cannot express how much joy and fun it brought to the both of us. I loved every exhibit I explored in. The atmosphere and environment is amazing. It was like we stepped into another place and time. My younger brother's favorite was the horror and minecraft exhibit. My favorite was the fantasy exhibit, horror exhibit, sci-fi exhibit and the sky church. Though the prices of the tickets are a bit expensive it really is worth it and the experience is amazing. I would reccomend to plan and buy the tickets online. If you buy at the museum it's more expensive and the wait of the line is long. I bought my tickets online and there is no wait to get my tickets scanned. There is also a separate line for people who bought their tickets online that way you don't have to wait in line forever to get checked in. Overall, we had a superb time and would love to visit again.

I really loved this place. They had a ton of artifacts of Pop Culture that I think anybody would be interested in. I think that what I loved the most was the music part, as they had a lot of everything, including teaching musical instruments. I also loved the homage to the Seahawks, and I believe any local who hasn't had the time to come here should really make a spot in their schedule. I did not try the restaurant so I can't speak for their food, but I know that their staff were all very nice and helpful.

The museum is very focused on pop culture, especially music and film. There were two good exhibits on music (Pearl Jam and Jimi Hendrix) and several on film (horror, fantasy, and science fiction). There was also a very fun exhibit on video games and their history, which allowed you to play games from over the years.

An absolute must for anyone visiting Seattle. Loacted literally about 150 feet from the space needle. The Museum of pop culture is definitely a better value experience compared to its more well known next door neighbor, the space needle. The Scared to Death exhibit, which focuses on the horror movie genre was my favorite. Absolutely loved it. Museum also features a great Jimi Hendrix and Pearl Jam exhibit . A very cool fantasy genre next door to the Scared to death exhibit.

Super cool museum for kids and adults alike! Lots to look at and learn, but even more to do! The 3rd story is my favorite since you can jam out with your friends, play video games, etc etc.

The Nirvana, Jimi Hendrix, Fantasy and Sci-Fi displays were some of my favorite. Very interesting and well put together. Lots of interactive displays. The architecture by Frank Gehry was phenomenal. Some of the exhibits were a bit small, and the layout of the museum didn't flow very conveniently, but it's probably due to the layout of the building.

Was there on a private event. Received excellent service, great friendly staff, and good food and drink selection. Enjoyed the exhibits, especially Nirvana. I will be back with my family.

The exhibitor really well done. Obviously if you take particular interest in the subject matter it is really great. For instance if you are big Jimi Hendrix freak or a Nirvana fan or Pearl garden fan the exhibits are really detailed and show a lot of history which she can't get anywhere else. Overall the exhibits were very tastefully done. There are some negatives that in the music section upstairs a lot of the instruments are broken and not working properly and exhibits like the mixing station does not work properly as well. We are able to spend a good amount of time there and my kids found it interesting even though they were young at nine and 11

One of my personally favorite places in the city, MoPOP is a testament to the legends of popular culture that have persisted in society for decades: from comics, movies, and science fiction to the city's most timeless musical icons.

Terrific artifacts and thoughtful exhibits make it a must-see museum.

Very interesting, history, but also for kids, musical instruments to try. There is also something about films like classic, horror or scince fiction! It takes at least 2 hours to visit everything.

I visited the EMP for the Hello Kitty exhibit and it is full of cuteness!!! When I thought I knew all I needed to know about the brand, the exhibit proved me wrong. Who would have thought a Hello Kitty had a twin?

I saw eveything I could imagine to be Hello Kitty themed. A lot of the items brought back memories of my childhood because I had some of those items. What I found to be the most interesting were the costumes. I really like the timeline of the brand's history. Overall the exhibit was bright and easy to walk through between the two floors.

I really enjoyed the 12/Seahawks exhibit. It displays the Lombardi trophy the Seahawks two season ago. There was a sound booth that mimics the stadium noise. The exhibit introduces you to more facts about the franchise even when a die-hard fan would think there is nothing new to learn.

A museum worth checking out.

Spent hours here with my boyfriend exploring all the exhibits. Especially enjoyed the upstair section where you can play various instruments and there are private jam rooms. So much fun and tons to do. A great place for family to visit too! Definitely great staff and reasonable prices.

Don't be fooled by the seemingly noble intentions - it's a tourist trap. There's a small exhibit on the ground floor with info about influential sci-fi/fantasy authors/directors, but most of the other exhibits contain an assortment of movie props. It's fun to find the memorabilia you recognize, but there's less "substance" to these exhibits. And if any of the exhibits piqued your curiosity and made you want to pick up a new book or movie...you won't find it in the gift shop. Instead, it's just a bunch of overpriced t shirts and crappy souvenirs. Similar to the Rock n' Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland, it might be worth going to once, but that's about it.

Very cool and unique museum. We enjoyed the interactive components very much. The temporary exhibit about music videos was great too. The sci-fi stuff in the basement felt like a tacked on afterthought, which is too bad because it could be a museum in it's own right.

A fair admission price to get in and lots of attractions for everyone. Kind of a one stop shop for geeks and sci-fi/horror nerds, with a fairly large music section as well. Indie video games in a section with a Nintendo switch section, art displays everywhere and cool exhibits that go in depth about some of the defining scifi/horror. Good collection of movie props and costumes.

This place is a blast! My boyfriend just recently got us memberships which is perfect for cutting down costs. My only complaint is the amount of children running around. Obviously this is not the museums fault, but also of the exhibits are not meant for young children (such as the horror film exhibit) yet there are always kids running around yelling. I definitely will go back though I wish the museum would have age requirements.

Awesome museum something to see in every nook and cranny.. The only disappointment was the restaurant with all of the awesomeness around this needs to change... Makes me think twice about Wolfgang Puck

This place is amazing!! Definitely a must see in Seattle, great for all ages with amazing friendly staff and prices aren't outrageous for the experience you get! We got there a bit later in the day and they let us come back the next day no extra charge bc there's that much to do!

Great experience with my daughter. We got to see a dalek and play different instruments all in one day. Looking forward to returning. They make wonderful use of technology providing many interactive exhibitions.

Maybe the coolest collection of pop art in the world! This is a must see when in Seattle. The building itself is beautiful from the outside. We went on a Wednesday afternoon and it wasnt crowded at all. There are so many cool movie artifacts and props. The sci fi room, horror room, nirvana, and pearl jam sections are awesome! So.much to see and take in. History of tattoos was cool as well.

An excellent display of our Pop Culture that had wonderful displays of some of Seattle's famous rock legends, Jimi Hendrix, Pearl Jam and others. It also has displays on Science fiction, with wardrobes wore on set of some of the most popular science fiction movies, such as The Terminator, The Lord of the rings trilogy, Wizard of oz and others. Well worth the time and a lot of fun!

This museum is so much fun. My friend and I had a blast. So much to look a and do. I loved designing outfits on the mannequin and playing the instruments in the sound room. The guitar display is incredible. Only 4 stars because its expensive.

If you re visiting from out of town skip MoPop and explore Seattle Center. While there are a few interesting exhibits the price is high and the bang for your buck is not there. Plus the most interesting part is the architecture, which you can enjoy for free outside.

If you do go, the video game exhibit is busy and the games are blah. The SciFi and Horror exhibits are the most interesting while the Seattle Music exhibit might be good for the most die hard music fans.

I love MoPop (formerly EMP)! I've been here several times and love it! Great exhibits and neat stuff to check out. If you go, make sure you pop by the bar downstairs and ask for a "Back in Black." It's my favorite drink!

The Museum of Pop Culture or MoPOP is a nonprofit museum in Seattle, Washington, dedicated to contemporary popular culture. It was founded by Microsoft co-founder Paul Allen in 2000 as the Experience Music Project. Since then MoPOP has organized dozens of exhibits, 17 of which have toured across the U.S. and internationally. The museum which used to be known as Experience Music Project and Science Fiction Museum and Hall of Fame (EMP|SFM) and later EMP Museum until November 2016 has initiated many public programs including "Sound Off!", an annual 21-and-under battle-of-the-bands that supports the all-ages scene; and "Pop Conference," an annual gathering of academics, critics, musicians, and music buffs. MoPOP, in collaboration with the Seattle International Film Festival (SIFF), presents the Science Fiction and Fantasy Short Film Festival which takes place every winter at Seattle Cinerama Theater.

Cool building and nicely appointed exhibits, but we went through everything in about and hour and a half, and didn t get much out of it. The exhibits themselves were sparse with few interesting facts and centered mostly around loose themes with a few eclectic, token artifacts, rather than being a more immersive, learning experience.
