Are you tired of typical history museums, but like the "just walking around looking at neat things" experience, then go to MoPOP. No spoilers.
We truly enjoyed the Marvel experience exhibit. This is a great museum if you have the opportunity to spend some time in Seattle. Great examples of pop culture are on display.
Awesome place where you can see exhibitions of musicians like Prince, composing your own jam studio in the Sound Lab, discovering sci-fi movies costumes and much more. A must-see for everyone who's going to visit Seattle!
Cool popular music museum, with recording studios to try out.
This place gives a peek into the age of rock and early sci-fi..
A fun way to spend a few hours, but few of the exhibits are a bit thin on the ground. The Fantasy exhibit, in particular, was sparse and disappointing, and Star Trek wasn't open when we visited. Some of the interactives in other sections, like Sci Fi, were not working. The Nirvana exhibit was very interesting, though, and some individual costumes and props were cool. In general I'd say if you're a fan, go, and if not, skip. Definitely needs more way finding and clearer paths through some of the content.
A must when visiting Seattle! I had a blast. If you're into music you will love the sound lab!
The Nirvana exhibit was very well done that covered both the band and the pacific nw music scene
Decent museum but pricy for the admission cost ( $28 as of this review ). 1-2 hrs is a good time to spend here
My favorite experience of my trip to Seattle. If you have any knowledge or interest in pop culture it is a must to go there. It was so fun and cool to walk through and see so many culture things I love and was interested in.
Cool museum, but much smaller than I anticipated. Only been once, so not sure how often the exhibits are updated. Not the best bang for your buck, considering the special exhibits cost extra.
What an interesting and fun exploration! Informative and creative exhibits on several fantastic subjects. Happy we went! Restaurant is nice, so you can eat there and spend an entire day if not two!
Loved this place especially with the current Marvel exhibit. Will visit again next time i am back in Seattle.
Cool place. Only draw back was that a few of the interactive hands on activities were not working. Had those been working I would give it 4 stars
This place is definitely worth seeing multiple times as there is so much content inside and they have exhibits that change. I went last year to the Jim Henson exhibit and it was amazingly cool! I went last week and they have the Marvel exhibit which is equally cool. I would definitely recommend.
Coolest museum I've ever been to. So many relevant exhibits, and I loved that there was so many interactive items. They clearly put a ton of time and effort into making this museum a great experience. Would recommend to anyone as a must-do in Seattle.
If you like music and film, this place is a must. Such a vast and interesting collection
Museum shuts at 5pm, so plan accordingly, at least 2 hours is required to explore it fully. The hologram experience on the top floor requires prior booking as it usually gets sold out by afternoon. Best part about the museum is the live hands-on experience on all different musical instruments. A must visit when in Seattle. It's also right opposite to Seattle Space Needle.
Terrific family environment, with a ton of activities and very attentive and friendly staff. The planetarium shows are fantastic and offer a nice variety depending on time-of-year (what's visible in the heavens at that time). The butterfly "room" is like being in a couple different rainforests / tropical biomes magic'd into one huge albeit indoor forest; My girl and I watched three butterflies emerge from cocoons over the span of about 15 minutes and it was as exciting to us as to the 8-year-old watching with mouth agape near us. Highly recommended...a little soul & nature inner-battery-recharger to remind us of the beauty all around us on this amazing blue-green marble in space that we all share.
Pretty cool place to take pictures if you are visiting and just want to walk around. We didn't have time to go in but the outside views were awesome.
Very disappointed in this place. We were unable to use flash photography. So for me as person of color I could not be seen in any of my pictures. I saw lots of people taking pictures in front of the art, but it didn't work out for us. Will not be back and will not recommend to people of color.
Loved the Marvel exhibit. However, I also went to see the Star Trek Exhibit and found out that it has been closed for 2 weeks. Their show it still being there and it was closed. The other sci-fi exhibits were not really much to get excited about. Highly dissappointed paying $ 36.00 to basically see the Marvel Exhibit. I would not recommend this venue. It is definitely not what it used to be. I lived in Seattle for 13 yrs and used to come to it fairly often, but would not recommend it anymore.
Just didn't enjoy it much. Some sections were closed. If short on time I would skip this place.
Very cool and interactive museum. Good way to get a little bit of culture and knowledge.
A fantastic, unique museum. For fans of Hendrix and Nirvana, its a must see. Also have rotating rooms with movie themes, horror and sci-fi movies were up recently. They also had a fantastic Marvel display with many movie props.
Check out the Marvel exhibit while it is still here! It was neat to see original comics and sketches.
For someone who likes modern pop music is a place to be
Great museum with amazing architecture design. The main reason we went was to check out the Marvel exhibit and it was really fun!
If you need a rock and roll button from a gift shop, that's your place.
Recommended to learn about mysteries of past and future
Fascinating exhibits. Too much to see in one visit.
I really enjoyed it! My favorite was the horror exhibit.
The EMP is a wonderful place. The first time I went here I fell in love, and upon a return visit, I confirmed my belief that Paul Allen has nothing but the best intentions for Seattle. The permanent Hendrix and Nirvana exhibits are commendable. The Lombardi trophy is housed here (Go freaking hawks) and rotating exhibits spice it up (see the horror movie exhibit). A bit pricy, but education has no limits!!!!!!!
This museum was thoroughly fascinating. When I went, they had an exhibit on the Marvel universe, including costumes worn by the actors and props in the film. There were also comic books and interactive displays of all things Marvel universe. I also went to an exhibit which featured everything sci-fi and an exhibit with horror things. Overall, the museum was fun and the staff were energetic and insightful.
One of the best museum to visit, MARVEL exhibition was really cool, they have another extra experience "the dome" that is really stunning. The gift shop have very original things. Completely worth it.
The main attractions at this museum are the cultural artifacts from your favorite band or movie you'll recognize and can inspect up close. I especially enjoyed the sci-fi collection of stuff from my favorite shows and movies; apparently Paul Allen was also big into it and this museum is full of originals from his family's collection. Thank you Paul! The interactive exhibits, like learning to play a baseline on a real guitar and learning how mixing works are well made and informative and real fun if you're not a musician like me. Four stars instead of five because this is not a mind blowing museum. But you won't regret walking around a bit.
This place is fun for all ages! Lots of exhibits that you can read or just look through. You could spend a couple hours here. It's also free re-entry in case you need to leave and come back!
MoPOP is a well maintained museum with lots of interactivity. I loved the Indie Game Revolution exhibit the most! I can say that the museum is designed for all ages. The only down side for me was having to pay extra to see the Marvel exhibit... But I had an enjoyable time nonetheless!
Extraordinary museum full of musicians, bands, art, instruments... Can Even try recording studio experience! A must see!
Lots to see and do. Got in with our City Pass. The kids and adults all enjoyed the interactive exhibits.
Cool place, Jim Henson exhibit was nice. I liked it a lot, really close to loving it.
Worth going one time! Felt like was in a Hard Rock
A awesome museum with great expositions. A must see.
Place is cool entrance tickets' price is fair. Don't miss science fiction exposition.
Admission is rather expensive but the instrument experience was fun ..
I loved the architecture and lighting in this museum. Even if you don't know much about music history, there is something here for everyone. The Sky Church had music videos playing when I visited, and it was a great spot to plop down and relax for a while after walking around. The Sound Lab is also a great place to play around with music and learn about music production. It's definitely easy to spend a couple of hours here, but well worth it.
Lot of hands on fun. Even fun for those who aren't fond of typical museums.
A pretty cool museum down near the space needle. Lots of cool things to see but expensive. Was able to blow through there in a couple hours
This is such a fun place to go to whether you are young or older. There s a little something for anyone: music, sci-fi/fantasy, horror, and so much more. The experience is interactive and not only do you learn but you have a great time. It s conveniently located at Seattle Center around lots of other attractions. Parking can be quite spendy which is the only downside.
Great museum with a wide variety of exhibits and props / costumes / memorabilia on display. Well worth the price of admission.
We loved this museum. The Star Trek exhibit has a great timeline of all the Trek show and movie timelines (not Deep Space Nine--sorry DS9!) that is very comprehensive.
The exhibits for sci-fi and fantasy were also fantastic (if you will). I was greatly impressed by the number of pieces they had from movies and TV shows, including Billy Mummy's costume from Lost In Space, Frodo's sword Sting, Dorothy's dress from Wizard of Oz, and many, many more!
Amazing museum! I'm looking forward to seeing the Horror exhibit when the construction is done.
Loved the Horror film exhibition! Had a lot of interesting substance to the psychology and cultural fascination with horror.
trying to explain the why and how of scifi, not just the "look at all the bug-eyed monsters!"
Both the permanent and traveling exhibits are usually worth seeing. The sci-fi museum used to be a lot bigger, but was downsized in the last few years. Still worth checking out though.
Great place to visit lotta rock and tv history here
My husband loves to play with things. He doesn't like going to a museum just to stare at pictures. They have so many rooms that allow adults to play with things. It's really interesting and definitely worth a visit in Seattle.
Truly a geek's paradise. Plan to return and explore the rest next time I come to Seattle next year!
Absolutely loved it. Such effort and care went into this museum.
This is an excellent place to visit, with the whole family or alone. Interactive video game exhibits, interesting music exhibit, the genre museums (sci-fi, horror, fantasy) full of movie props were great to see. The temporary exhibit of the Marvel Universe was worth it.
