This is a great place. Wonderful, educational, museum. It was cold and raining outside so we get a chance to spend almost a whole day exploring the museum. It takes you through the world of music that changed history to classic cinema we ve grown to love. We had a lot of fun there. Price for an adult is $28, and 25 for student. If you place to visit this place be ready to spend at least 2 hours there. They have 3 floors with multiple rooms and different themes. It was a great day, will definitely be back when they renovate the exhibition

Poppin'! Place has flair, must see! Many different exhibits, great capsule of pop culture! No Micheal Jackson though I'm surprised. Loved the indie games section and the horror and sci fi section

Kind of favor.

If you much, you will enjoy.
Otherwise boring.

"Pop Culture" may be exaggerating it, more like a slice of it. How much you enjoy this place depends on a great extent to how much you like science fiction, fantasy and horror movies in the late 70s to 2000s, as well as musicians from the Seattle area. I found the layout a little confusing (get a map) but thoroughly enjoyed viewing the movie props. With Seattle weather being what it is, this is a great indoor destination (or alternative to Space Needle when the view is less than ideal).

But tourists from non-American culture circles
May not resonate with the exhibition

This is a really fun place to come visit. It's like a giant toy chest. They have some pretty awesome exhibits to tour. The tour guides were very knowledgeable and they were simply great to be around.

There is something surreal about viewing an exhibit, honoring the bands who were responsible for starting a movement in which I was directly impacted by and witnessed the birth of. For me, grunge and the alternative music scene defined my youth. This museum has a large exhibit dedicated to Pearl Jam, filled with memorabilia from their numerous tours. They also have a smaller exhibit honoring Nirvana as well. I saw several of my peers, who also grew up during this era, sitting back listening and watching videos of these iconic bands play. The museum doesn't stop there. They also have 2 exhibits honoring film. Downstairs is their horror and Sci-Fi, filled with movie props and costumes from a variety of film and TV. On the main floor they have their guitar section featuring instruments from Stevie Ray Vaughn, Eric Clapton, Muddy Waters and so on. It was kind of neat seeing the wear and marks made by their owners. Also located on the main floor is their Fantasy exhibit where they display more costumes and props from iconic films of this genre. The last one I viewed was their Sci-Fi Hall of Fame, which I wasn't too impressed with. In addition to these, they had a section for videos games where they have several stations setup for people to play different obscure games of a variety of consoles. For me, this section fell flat. I wish they had incorporated a little more of the history of the gaming industry and included some of the older console games that paved the way for this industry. There is parking across the street where you can pay for however long you wish to spend time in the area. They do offer a cheaper admission on-line, so be sure to go that route. They also offer a multi-pass that will cover admission to the Museum of Pop Culture, Museum of Glass and the Space Needle.

Different kind of museum, but it was fun. See interesting facts and memorabilia from Pearl Jam and Nirvana (both bands started in Seattle). Visit the guitars collection, Minecraft exhibit, see scary movie items, fantasy adventures, and more. There are many interactive activities, like playing musical instruments (keyboards, guitars, drums, etc) and Indi games.

Fun place to visit! I especially enjoy the 2nd floor which has special exhibits for Nirvana and Hendrix. There are spots scattered throughout the museum that allow you to sit and rest. Also a cafe and fun gift shop available.

It's like a number of prop warehouses missed their rent and had to ditch their collections on short notice. Big on stuff short on story.

The Marvel exhibit was essentially costumes and covers, very little about the history of Marvel, you had to dig to get info on the artists and writers who made it what it is. Mostly fluff with a lot of people taking pictures of everything and an oppressively loud soundtrack in the background. Everything about it was obviously driven by the movies not the comics.

The Sci Fi and Horror exhibits were functionally identical with different props and lighting. Things in cases with no information on inspiration or process or the people who made them doesn't wow me. Alien and Geiger alone could fill a whole section but there was no substance to any of it.

The Indie Game section was interesting but a lot of it didn't work well and what was there didn't tell a story about indie games. It felt like a big Nintendo ad with some charity to indie games thrown in.

Overall a bland and uninteresting experience.

If you're visiting Seattle, you MUST visit this place. If you are a alternative/grunge/video games/music lover, visit it also!. It has many to offer. I loved the section where you can play instruments and also when you can be recorded on stage playing instruments with your friends.

What an amazing venue! The House of Horrors exhibit was excellent. We did not expect it and our 15 year old love it! The fantasy exhibit was great as well. The best part for me was the Prince Exhibit! There is something for every age here. Interactive areas as well, the sound rooms were very fun! We think this was one of our favourite things to do in Seattle so far!

The EMP is a great Seattle attraction. Kids may have a hard getting into it though, as it focuses more on education and history, and less on the 'wow' factor. All in all, it's a good stop on your Seattle tour.

This place is really cool! I went to see their Marvel exhibit (which is not permanent), but was also wowed by the permanent museum exhibits. They have a music section where you could play/learn the piano, guitar, drums, scratching, singing, etc. and they have rooms to record in as well! They have a fantasy section, sci-fi section, horror section, and more. I ran out of time to see everything, but I plan to go back so I can see everything. It was that cool!

Something for everyone, as long as they like something related to pop culture! Amazing music section, smaller subsection with several crecording studios" where you can learn electric guitar, keyboard, drums, and mixing. Opportunities to play with others playing different instruments!

This museum is by far the worst museum I have ever been to. None of it makes any sense and all the things in the building are very random and pointless. Biggest waste of time. There is a cool area with movie props but I don't see how it relates to pop music. The coolest part was probably in the lobby of the museum right in front of the box office, it was a Seattle Seahawks memorabilia room. But that doesn't require a ticket to enter and is free. Here's a suggestion, save your time and don't go!

Awesome museum, with good exhibitions. I have the yearly membership and try to go every time they bring something new. If you like music and have some time, don't miss the sound booth to play around with instruments and feel like a rock star. The marvel exhibition was very well put and lots of merchandise for reasonable prices.

It's somewhat of an eclectic collection of items for a museum. There are TV and movie artifacts as well is music items primarily from Rock and Roll, which is pretty cool. It's worth money and time spent while in Seattle. R.I.P. Paul Allen.

This museum was a lot of fun, bridging generational gaps through a shared love of pop culture. There were exhibits honoring Seattle natives Kurt Cobain and Jimi Hendrix as well as several famous movie props from Star Wars, Star Trek, Lord of the Rings, and several others. At the time of my visit there was also an exhibit for Marvel comics with several movie props and costumes as well as original comic art and a history of comics and the Marvel brand. This exhibit is great for either those who enjoy the movies or those that enjoy comics. The MoPOP museum was exciting and lively, and certainly worth a return trip. Tickets are a bit pricey, however they do offer student discounts and it is an optional part of the Seattle City Pass.
