If you love pop culture, you'll love this place. Simple as that.
Very impressive collection and would be interesting for all ages. We only had a short amount of time to see everything so we were rushed but you could easily spend all day here
This is my favorite museum in Seattle, is at the top of my recommendations list, and my husband and I are members. While I don't visit every time someone from out of town visits, I do suggest they come. MoPop has an extensive permanent collection of science fiction, fantasy and horror artifacts, as well as important artifacts related to music particularly music important to the Pacific Northwest.
In addition to the permanent exhibits, the rotating special exhibits are world class. From World of Wearables to the Supremes costumes to a multi-floor Marvel exhibit, MoPop knows how to throw a special exhibit. There are also consistently stunning music-related photograph exhibits too. Definitely visit this place!
Very unique exterior. Great for photos. At the moment, Nivanna and Jimi Hendrix are the primary exhibits. Very cool sound labs that allow you to learn/play different instruments.
It was absolutely amazing. So much fun to go and see all of the exhibits and such. I went when they had the marvel exhibit and it was everything I expected and more. They have a lovely gift shop with lots of T-shirts and souvenirs to buy without being too expensive. I could have easily spent another hour here if I had more time. If you're in Seattle it is a must to go there and see all of the amazing exhibits and things. Loved it.
What fun! Nothing boring and stuffy about THIS museum! Lots of interactive exhibits. And lots of memories are triggered as you see things from your childhood!
Both the structure and the exhibitions inside are beautiful. Real tribute to popular culture, especially to the music and geniuses of Seattle! Unusual and fun: to see even if the price is a bit high!
I was absolutely amazed at the Quality and setup of everything. We were definitely impressed and will definitely take friends and family back for sure!
I have mixed impressions about this museum... They have full-size Terminator, Xenomorph from Aliens, weapons from different movies, a few more interesting Star Wars rooms, huge guitar sculpture, and this is basically it. Honestly saying I don't think it worth $56 for two people.
Lot of history behind the music in the current exhibits. Perl Jam and Nirvana. The horror exhibit was cool too. Excites for the body art opening 2/1/20. If you have kids they love the minecraft.
A lot of care went into the exhibits. Every exhibit was on theme and filled with a variety of items.
One of my favorite places I've ever been. The next time I'm in Seattle this will be the first place I return to.
Worth the visit, a little pricey but still interesting. If your a big music fan, it s a must. Our favorite was the fantasy and sci-fi section.
So much too look at. Very interesting exhibits for kids and adults.
On the website they mentioned that they'll be open on Christmas eve. When we went there it was closed. We had planned our Christmas vacation based on the timings each place had mentioned in their website. Now we are returning without being able to see this place. It was very unprofessional of them to do this.
Wonderful experience! Amazing collecting of artifacts displayed in well designed and creatively executed galleries.
Strongly recommended!
I really enjoyed the experience and exhibits they had at the Museum of Pop Culture! They recently shed some light on the creation of gaming, and as a gamer I spent the most time at this exhibit, playing a lot of the coop games as well at the other solo indie games they had in store. I really enjoyed checking this place out!
We're members now!! Highly recommended place to visit. What an assortment of things to look at. The Kurt Cobain, Pearl Jam and Horror Movie Sections we're PHENOMENAL!! We'll be back FOR SURE!!
If you're interested in pop culture then this place is it. Has a wide variety of stuff for everyone.
A bit pricey for what it is. Worth it for the Nirvana exhibition but everything else seems to be memorabilia and movie props. Fine if you like that sort of thing. The building itself is pretty cool.
Little but of confusion on where to go for certain attractions. But an amazing spread of things to do and learn about!
For any music fan and movie fan this is a must. It's very interesting and interactive for the music side. I highly recommend it if you have the time
This place is okay. If your from out of town and have time to waste, stop here last after checking out the rest of Seattle center first! Add an extra hour or so for to avoid a parking fee!
We spent 4 hours here and we left only because they were closing. The exhibit was marvel comics and it was very enjoyable. The sound lab was my favorite part. I would suggest getting a ticket to the Hollowdome when you get there because they have limited show times.
Pretty awesome place for a music fan. Enjoyed the special exhibits too.
Thank goodness this place is around. There is really no sign of the 90s music scene left. It's completely absent outside the museum. The sound lab is great. You can actually say you played guitar, drums etc in seattle. Worth a visit.
Disappointing. The exhibits were small and most of the sci-fi/fantasy/horror interactive exhibits had long waits or were broken. The exhibits were kind of disconnected and didn't have much description aside from saying the prop had been in a movie. It was an okay visit but it was nowhere near worth the $28 ticket price.
This is a great place to visit. I spent four hours walking around and wasn't bored. Staff are wonderful, especially Claire
Nice museum with diverse exhibits. Unfortunately didn't have time for the Marvel exhibit and the Star Trek exhibit was closed.
The museum is beautifully designed the outside is gorgeous. Once inside I found good and bad but for the price of admission I am afraid this museum left a bit to be desired. The nirvana exhibit was amazing very well put together and they had some great displays. The horror exhibit was one of the reasons I came but to be honest it was just alright, it seems they feel like playing videos counts as an exhibit and sorry to me it just doesn't. There were other exhibits pearl jam, fantasy, sci fi, anf a play with these video games or music instrument type things and all had positive points but none were terribly memorable. Last was the Marvel exhibit which you had to pay extra for (for whatever reason ) and again it had some neat costumes and stuff but a lot of the exhibits were signs on the wall or a statue just kinda eh. Overall the place has great potential but I feel like they are using it to that potential.
Fun and interesting exhibits - special exhibits are worth the extra $.
This was the absolute COOLEST museum I've ever been to! The Star Trek exhibit was enough to sell me for life, not to mention the huge cyclone structure of musical instruments that extends from floor to ceiling! A must see!!
Awesome museum in Seattle. Love the movie costumes and props!
Modern, captivating, many exhibitions and sections for different tastes and interests. The Marvel exhibition is very interesting. Even the fantasy has a dedicated section with clothes and costumes of famous movie scenes. Section musical instruments to try with acoustic booths to play. Exhibition section of objects and tools that belonged to famous singers like Jimmy Hndrix, Nirvana, Davide Bowie ....
At the entrance there is a sculpture made with lots of overlapping and vertical guitars. The giant screen on which are projected videos of the sacred monsters of international music. Not to be missed.
I came here for NYE and was pretty wasted before we got in. We stayed for like 15 minutes after the countdown and walked home. Yeah I'm old now.
A wide variety of interactive exhibits that are interesting for the entire family. If you are in the Seattle area this museum is probably worth considering an annual pass as it changes frequently and you will not be able to see at once.
Camp Out Cinema was so fun! Get there early to snag a prime spot and don't forget your pillows and sleeping bags.
Perfect for anyone who enjoys having a good time! You NEEX to check the sound lab!
Amazeing place would go back anytime. Was a great place in generale to learn and understand thr culturof now to the cultur of years past.
What a great place to get a dose of memorabilia. Really fun exhibits scattered throughout.
An exhibition hall for pop music, sf and horror movies. There is no need to see.
Cool museum with a ton of memorabilia of pop culture: music, sci-fi, horror, and fantasy. Really interesting architecture and design. Current visiting exhibit is Marvel Superheroes.
The sound studio is the best! You get to play drums and sing in their studios!
Miss Understood ft Gypsy Temple turnit all the way out
Dungeons & Dragons, Star Trek, Comicbooks, horror film and more: something for every type of "nerd" out there.
A great place to explore for anyone interested in rock music and/or sci-fi & fantasy. The exhibits were all well kept and had many unique and original items, such as the original guitars played by rock stars and movie set pieces. Probably my favorite exhibit was the sound bar where you can play various instruments, and even participate in a live jam session. Tip: if you have a larger party, consider getting the family membership!
Museum of Pop Culture. Exhibits, gatherings, and music venue. Nice!
Fun, fun fun! Great experience, great exhibits! Well worth a visit!
Loved this place. In particular the Marvel, horror, sci fi and nirvana exhibitions. Great for the family.
This was my 4th visit to this museum, and the first since it has become the MoPOP. We spent about 3 hours there, but left disappointed. Despite being housed in a remarkable Frank Gehry designed building, the curation was unfocused. Everything there is pop culture as advertised, but there could be a little more selectivity of artifacts and better story telling. The place is vast while the number of exhibits is relatively small. Museums endowed with less square footage must select the most important and relevant items to illustrate the story, which creates focus. Here the curators adopted a more-is-more approach and attempt to fill the cavernous exhibit halls with a garage sale of unexplained and often uninteresting items. By doing this, the museum fails to elevate the subjects of its exhibits, but instead overpowers and diminishes them.
The Gehry architecture containing the museum (itself shaped like a guitar with the monorail as its neck) would be worthy of a self-referential exhibit. Ironically, little is said of the building despite these influences between pop culture and architecture. For that matter, you can't walk outside and look up at the Space Needle without wondering if it's 1960s concept of the future was influenced largely from the Jetsons cartoon series started about the time it was being designed.
Very cool museum if you are into pop culture. Easily spend a few hours here.
This is an amazing museum. I came to the avengers exhibition which featured the suits and props used by the avengers and it was very interesting. You can also see the props and costumes used by famous horror films, sci fi films, fairy tale films, and famous artists.
Highly recommend a visit if in the area!
I think the outside is the best thing about the place. Amazing, space age looking architecture, but the actual exhibits i found a bit disappointing, especially considering the ticket price.
A cool and different museum. Astonishing architecture that are intriguing and welcoming you when you approach it. There are something for all ages inside. It's definitely an recommendation from me.
Loved the diversity of topics. My daughter loved the hands on music room
Overpriced. Not worth the money at all. Venue was o..k. Huge lineups. No vending machines or places to buy a drink or snack besides the fancy restaurant. Make sure to bring your own if you decide to come here.
Must see for those who want to learn about music and film genres. Horror film section was my favorite!
When I walked in I was happy, and I was still happy when I left, so, yep. Super cool.
One of the best museums of its kind, if you want to see Kurt Cobains guitar or the terminator it s all on display.
Very difficult to maneuver when disabled. Staff could be more friendly and understanding, which would be very helpful.
I went there yesterday since I had the free ticket for this museum, and also this is the 1st time I been here, too. I really really love this place, too many heros from MARVEL, from Horror Flim. I had a lot of beautiful pictures when I went here. Btw, who is a fan of Dr. Strange? I really love him, hahha. You guys must go there if you are a fan of Marvel.
Love this place! We spent hours there. We will be back!
The Marvel exhibit is fantastic and huuuuge (all the exhibits are great)
This place is grand. There's the Scifi hall of fame , a horror and sci-fi movie exhibit, lots of rock and/or roll. REAL BOSS!
A place for having fun And learning at the same time. Enjoyed It!!!
This place is geared toward fans of Marvel comics and video games...not for everyone.
very clean a lot of staff cleaning the museum very cool exhibits
Fun in the sci fi movie space, but overall, seemed under developed and underutilized.
