The space and horror collections downstairs are fantastic. I was really excited to see the Prince exhibit!
The space and horror collections downstairs are fantastic. I was really excited to see the Prince exhibit!
Probably my favorite museum in the Seattle area I went to on my trip. From the Sci-Fi exhibit to the History of the Electric Guitar. Bit miffed that Hello Kitty got 2 exhibits over 2 floors while Jimi Hendrix only got a single room, but that's just personal preference. Didn't spend much time in the Indie gaming exhibit but it seemed pretty sweet and the Nirvana Exhibit was superb. Would recommend this museum to movie buffs, music lovers, gamers, or anyone in between!
Amazing exhibits: everything entertainment from music to sci-fi, fantasy to horror, Harry Potter to marvel comic heroes, Stan Lee comic genius. Movie short about the development of puppet/Muppets. Though the lines were long to enter they were efficient and it didn't feel crowded or like a long wait.
Terribly organized... It's a maze! We got lost multiple times and had to go up and down many sets of stairs in the process. There are signs to guide you, but they're few and far between. There's also too much reliance on decoration and technological distractions, and half the building is apparently gift shop space. The saving grace is that there are some genuine artifacts on display, i.e. original hand-written song lyrics... But the management of this place should be ashamed. They could do so much better!
Place used to be called EmPOP or something before they changed it. Either way, this museum is really cool and has a lot of stuff dedicated to Kurt Cobain and Jimi Hendrix and other famous musicians born in WA.
If you love movies, this is a must see. The museum boasts a large movie memorabilia collection along with a music collection and a collection of 'wearable art'. We really enjoyed the fantasy section of the museum.
We had an excellent time. The Marvel exhibit was very good. Standard exhibits are worth seeing some orginal costumes.
Very interesting place. Exhibits were done very well and had a lot of pieces to bulk it out. The fantasy one was great as it walked you through the settings, as did the horror one. Great place to spend a few hours and easy ride to pike place after if you're cut for hours.
Fantastic place to lose an afternoon, play some instruments, view all exhibitions of music and film.. pic is the tower of instruments and the sci fi looking staircase. Go see it!!!
Great time. Really enjoyed all the displays. Learned a lot while I was there too.
Mixed...I took a good nap while my family walked around. Too pricey.
People say this place is overrated, but I completely disagree. The EMP is the coolest museum I've been to.
Lots of interesting stuff across different media. I do expect more, but they like big empty spaces. They also like stairs!
This museum is full of pop culture stuff! It's really amazing to see some authentic stuff that are even signed by some actors too.
Lots of interactive exhibits, tons of local music stuff, and a great variety of things to see!
Enjoyed it. Great interactive displays and sculptures with s large dose of Seattle music history thrown in
Great place to nerd out! Great for all the music lovers out there, they have wonderful exhibits on great international favs and local classics.
Super fun place to visit! It's hard to describe it but there really is much to see here.
I was only planning to spend 2 hours there butt end up stay till it closed! Great marvel exhibition. If you like to know how movie and movie items are made make sure you pay a visit!
Get place to see by the space needle. The Marvel experience was sweet and they had a ton of other things that would be kewl to see. I loved their new Pearl Jam set up so kewl. It worth the price to see all the things inside
We didn't visit the museum itself, but it looks pretty cool !! We only entered the SPECTACULAR museum building by the wonderful architect: Frank Gehry !! Delighted with the architecture ... again!
Enjoyed the visit. Liked the exhibits with Prince and Jimi Hendrix. Also enjoyed the music exhibits where you could play the guitar, drums, keyboard or even a turn table to scratch. There is a huge projection, I mean huge where they projected music videos of different genre's and a large size dance floor. It was a great night. LPA If you want to revisit the music of Seattle s greats, Jimi Hendrix and Kurt Cobain, city Museum of POP is a must. The building itself is a show.
Loved being able to walk through the museum. Will have to allow more time when.we go back! So much to see and do! Loved the Star Trek exhibit!
Fun place to walk around but a little overpriced. Took me less than two hours to explore.
They have free entrance everybody with an EBT card, and you can take up to 3 guests with you. Thank you guys, we had so much fun
It's a great interactive museum for kids! My prom was here and we had a blast!
Nice museum. For me the wrong artists. Would have wished me other. Entrance fee too high.
I really enjoy my visit every time I go. Worth the visit
I worked here for years and there was never a dyl moment. The exhibits are amazing and always changing. Great place for tourists, you can spend an hour or all day looking at cool stuff
Probably the biggest waste of money ever. The look of the outside is very deceiving considering how gorgeous the architecture is and how lame the lay out of exhibits were. $28 per person to be confused and quite honestly very disappointed with this collection of pop culture .
I didn t plan to enter to the Museum of Pop Culture but someone at the door very kindly hand over to me some tickets to enter. It was an interesting experience.
I arrived at 10am and didn't leave until closing, there is so much to do and see here. I would highly recommend this place!!! Let that inner nerd out! Also, the staff at the restraunt were very friendly and they made excellent drinks!
I've visited a few times over the years and enjoy every visit for different reasons. The special exhibits are always informative and well organized. The incorporation of sound adds to the experience but is well engineered so it is specific without being overwhelming. Something for everyone.
A very different experience for me. Worth exploring.
Awesome! Loved the sci-fi collection. Also Star Trek was cool. Nirvana Rocks.
Interesting and informative exhibitions. Could spend there hours.
Worth the admission price. Great experience. Family friendly.
Great place to go especially if you love all things Seattle music
Great place, very nostalgic and for the the young ones there is a Marvel comics section.
There are many interesting exhibits related to movies and music, and you can play various instruments yourself.
So many different exhibits. There is an exhibition for everyone. I really enjoyed the Nintendo exhibit. Good for friends, couples, and families. Definitely recommend.
There are many replicas of the props used in Hollywood movies, many images and references of pop culture, Nirvana, Prince, etc. As I was told once was the exhibition of Avengers but I did not have to go in those days .... but in general everything is fine
Awesome museum for any fans of pop culture. My only (tiny) complaint is that most of the artifacts don't have any anecdotes or explanations of what they are, other than the name of the item and what movie they're from.
Has some cool articles of memorabilia, but not really worth the admission cost. Better things to visit in the area.
The museum opens at 10 but people start lining up at around 9:45. We happened to be there early since we went to snap some pics of the Space Needle beforehand. We bought our tickets the same day, online, and saved a couple of bucks ($28 for an adult vs. the $30 walk up). I was also able to use my student ID ($25), you just have to show it along with your ticket when you enter.
Be prepared to spend at least 2 hours there. There are a lot of cool exhibits, like the tattoos, Nirvana, horror and sci-fi movies. (Also if you re a Jimi Hendrix or Pearl Jam fan, they have exhibits for those as well. They re really going for a Washington musicians theme here). My favorite was probably the Sound Lab where you can take a quick music lesson and even record your own demos in a sound room.
If I were to re-do it, I would go on a weekday so that there are less kids running around since I doubt schools would be taking class trips here. Definitely worth a visit though! Just make sure to come early so you can avoid crowds.
Definitely a must see when you're in Seattle! Each exhibit was fascinating. Of course I'm more of a music than movie fan so it was thrilling to get to read Jimi Hendrix's diary entries or Nirvana's letters to their fans.
Some much to do so little time. I had tonnes of fun but i felt one hour was not enough to see everything. If i lived nearby, i would be there all the time...
They have multiple sound booths with various instruments. So when you are done checking out the "Princess Bride" memorabilia you can have a quick jam session.
Great museum for all kinds of nerds. The exhibit on David Bowie was especially good!
Place is insanely awesome for fans of music, moves, and TV. There are so many props from classic films. I was in awe at the collection, from Walking Dead to Indiana Jones, with a little bit of Narnia in between. Was seriously so cool seeing the outfits and items in real life. The music sections were equally impressive, the items in the Jimi Hendrix and Nirvana exhibits were insane. High school artwork by Kurt Cobain, the guitar Jimi Hendrix played at Woodstock. Nuts to be standing alongside those items. The cafe was pretty tasty and not excessively priced. I would say this is a must stop in Seattle, spent half the day here and the excitement never wore off.
This museum seems really thrown together, with no real order to the thing. Most of the people I bumped into had been lost at least twice already, even still the exhibits lacked any depth that left me wanting more.
A must visit if you're passing through Seattle. Awesome exhibits with music, television and movie memorabilia.
Wonderful, eclectic variety of musical genres. Whoo hoo !!
We went to the museum during the long weekend. The ticket we found to be really expensive. The exhibits are nice but not really worth the price. The best exhibits were the music and Marvel (Marvel is an additional $8). It's a nice place to spend 3-4 hours.
In order to appreciate all that the exhibition is worth, you must be a fan of the TV series of the 60's
Beautifully crafted exhibit halls, each having a different theme.
Amazing architecture. Exhibition not worth the money, rather disappointing experience...
Very interesting museum with plenty of things to do inside. Easily spent close to 4 hours here. Very family friendly, able to get the different generations come together and enjoy the whole setup.
There are adult, seniors, student, military, and child members pricing.
Great place, love their permanent Indie Game, Fantasy, and Sci-Fi exhibits. They have a music studio where you can play tons of instruments as well. The temporary exhibits are always great, Star Wars and Marvel have been my favorites. Whenever I have family visit, we usually end up here, plus it's right by the Space Needle and the exhibits there.
Sound lab was super cool. I got in line for the bass over and over again, their set up for it was perfect!
By far my favorite Museum. We bought a membership after my first visit. They have new exhibits every now and then frequently enough to keep you interested. The sound lab is the best part.
Pricey but cool exhibits. The pictures below are from the Star Trek and horror movies expos and some other permanent things.
We spent a few hours here, but I could have definitely stayed longer to see all of the displays. We saw the Horror Movie area, the Music Area, The Sci Fi area and a few others. There is an additional Star Wars area but we didn't check that part out. With the City Pass, this is a great bargain and interesting for everyone.
Good to see if you have the City Pass, unique building with changing themes.
Awesome for our whole family, kids of all ages and adults. Our girl loved the Hello Kitty displays, we all loved the sound lab, our boy loved the video game design area ! Spent almost 5 hours here! Pop Kitchen conveniently attached to the Museum!
One of the best exhibitions I've ever seen! Science fiction and technology walking side by side, as always...
Saw the Star Trek exhibit today and loved it. So informative! Also LOVED the Horror and Fantasy exhibits.
Came here with the Microsoft discount and paid extra for the Star Trek exhibit. You could definitive spend a day here and the indie game room was especially fun!
