Just left Epworth Richmond yesterday after a hernia surgery.
The staff at Epworth Richmond were outstanding.
Friendly, approachable, genuinely caring they took the time to listen and offer help when they could.
Although you could see how busy they were they still took the time to keep me well informed of my progress.
A big thank you to all the staff at Epworth Richmond who I met along my short stay there.
Keep up the good work and don't let those smiles fade.

DO NOT GO TO THIS HOSPITAL IF ITS AN EMERGENCY, ESPECIALLY IF IT S A WEEKEND!

Go public, your health insurance is worth nothing here.

On Friday I was taken to the Epworth ER extremely unwell and fatigued from whooping cough. The doctor made the decision to admit me. I have full hospital cover, however it got tied up in administrative b.s. and after a stressful night I wasn t able to be admitted and discharged against doctor s advice in the morning, stressed and even more unwell, released with an infectious disease.

Despite being able to check my insurance online, both through their online system and my member online portal, hospital policy requires a phone check, which is impossible when the health fund is open Mon- Fri 8.30am-5.30.

This hospital failed in their duty of care.

I recently visited my grandmother who is going through intensive care and when I asked the receptionist where she was she literally started yelling at me. the doctors and nurses are nice, but it s ridiculous that the receptionists treat the patient s families with so much disrespect. I understand that everyone has bad days, but you can t scold someone for not knowing their way around an intensive care unit at a hospital.

My husband went in for a total knee replacement and had an excellent hospital experience. Thanks to his amazing surgeon Mt Stephen Doig, the anesthetist, other medical, nursing, physio, OTs , kitchen and cleaning staff, who all contributed to his care and recovery. Their meticulous care and attention to detail was very appreciated. The information session organised by Kaaren at the hospital on the knee replacement was extremely useful in helping us to understand the process and expectations from the operation. The food was also very good. Whatever Epworth does for staff selection keep doing it because it definitely is in the best interests of patients. The only negative - Parking needs to be affordable and available for partners or carers of patients.

Very good hospital but can't believe they still have rooms with 4 beds! To make it worse all the beds kept their curtains around so being on the wall side I had no access to daylight. This is a selfish habit that people now do in shared rooms. The hospital should discourage it except when necessary.

Part of paying top for private health is to have a private room. Fortunately I was moved after a day to a private room.

I had a rotator cuff repair at Epworth Richmond on Monday with a one night stay afterward. From the minute I walked in the door, I felt welcome. Every single staff member was smiling and helpful. After the procedure, I was in a private room under the care of incredible nurses. I wish I could remember their names (Victoria, Emily, Elaine ?) They were attentive but not annoying, doing their best not to interrupt my sleep. The food and food service were top notch! Everything was sparkling clean. I can t say enough good things about Epworth Richmond!

Came in for a bilateral knee replacement ops requiring 6-7 day stay - from the ouset which included a pre-op seminar taking ortho patients thru entire process to familairise and take away or reduce the fear and trepidation
Then from admission thru surgery, post op recovery , ortho ward staff - nurses, physios , medicos and staff that take care of the mundane but required - this team is friendly but assertive , communicative , responsive , caring and I ll sum it up by saying - if you re unlucky enough to need the services of these fine people and the Epworth - then just make sure you get into the Epworth
I cannot say I m enjoying my stay - but for life changing surgery I couldn t ask for better care and treatment
Had they had 10 Stars I d have given that mark

Was seen in the emergency department, for suspected broken ribs. The doctor was absolutely amazing he made sure my pain was under control ordered a CT scan and totally put my mind at ease, yes it cost me $300.00 upfront but I was in and out within an hour or two and was provided top level care. The doctor gave me some pain killing medication which is helping alot and now I am feeling comfortable and my pain is alot lower than it was upon arrival. Thank you to the whole team in emergency !!

The care from the nurses for my elderly 91 year old grandfather was appalling. He was not propped up for meals to eat food and wasn't provided with blankets, he wasn't assisted to go to the toilet and the pad that was provided by his wife was not put on him, his 87 year old wife can provide better care. For a private hospital, they should be embarrassed by the lack of service and care for their patients. This was 1 night stay and we will never choose to come back.

In general, I'm happy with the hospital and trust them usually, but recently had not nice experience of my husband urologist, who was professional and knowledgeable, but too protocol based, not going into details and individual picture. Most of old school doctors I've seen are excellent though

After making a booking for a private room for my spinal surgery on the 25 -10 2018 on admittance i was place in a shared 4 bed ward ? I did ask the duty nurse for a private room as that was what i had requested i was told that i would be placed into a private room the next day. As that is what i had requested for my surgery. I was told i would be moved into
a private room next day and this did not happen? I went in for my operation and after recovery i came out in the same ward as i was originally placed in the shared ward Cato 4 i spent the entire recovery time there during that period there was no rest or quality sleep there were lights going on and off and buzzers during the night non stop during my entire stay . This is what i would rate as just a public hospital standard and i was very disappointed . The nursing staff were truly wonderful but it is very under staffed indeed . I think management should really look at this as it is most important . I am in top private health cover and this is what i copped i could not believe it ? Very disappointing . The nurses were excellent but Epworth only cares for money - over $1k per night for a tiny tiny 4 bed ward, and they charge you for a 3 night minimum, no matter how long you stay.

The woman who was right next to me was throwing up and retching all night long, and whenever the nurse saw I was awake, she would ask if everything was ok. I couldn't say "no, I cannot sleep because of the noise so close to me", because it wasn't the poor woman's fault, it was the hospital's. They should not have put her in a 4 bed ward as she was often crying out in pain. It could not have been good for her recovery, nor that of the other people crammed into the room with her.

I would encourage people to read reviews on other sites as I have witnessed the management of the hospital actually derating the bad reviews on google to give the hospital a 5 star rating.
notice there is not one bad review on here and they all have 5 stars.
if you look at the other review sites there are MANY bad reviews about staff, waiting times and negligence.
Ive listed this as a 5 star in the hope the management will miss this post!!

I had foot surgery here two weeks ago. The admission area was lovely but I had a long wait before my surgery. I wish I was told to come only a couple of hours before so the wait wouldn't have been so long. Everyone was great in theatre introducing themselves and explaining clearly what was happening.

The next two days while I stayed on the ward weren't as great. The nurses were busy and despite being in a shared room I hardly saw them and had to buzz if I needed anything which I don't like to do so always left things to the last minute. The nurses were polite and did get my pain relief when I asked. However I had issues with the bed not working and the tv control not working and despite telling multiple nurses nothing was done about it.

The food lady was impatient when it was time to order my food. I wish she had just given me a paper menu and then I would have had time to look at the options. I heard her telling the options to the others in the room and there were things she didn't say to me that I would have preferred. As it was I found hair in my food when it did come and as I feeling sick anyway I couldn't really eat much until I came home.

Overall I was happy with the surgery and the fact I could rest afterwards but not such a great experience on the ward.

My mother was diagnosed with a brain tumour.

My mother was diagnosed with a brain tumour.
She was admitted to Knox private Hospital where it took three days and a lot of persistence to have her seen only to be advise they cannot do any further tests nor perform the operation.
We then arranged to have my mother transferred across to Epworth to Have DR Damien Tange review her. With-in 13 hours she was seen and booked in for surgery. The staff/Nurses have been extremely helpful and pleasant on the whole journey.
She is now recovering in the new LEE wing.
I wish more hospitals could model themselves on the working culture of the Epworth in Richmond.

Regards
A very happy son

My husband is in Epworth for his second operation in 2 years with a 3 to 5 day stay, my daughter was also admitted last year for a day procedure. I am totally blown away by this beautiful place. The staff, the nurses, the doctors, the surgeons all of top quality and kindness beyond. All will go out of their way to accommodate the patient and the family and they do it with love. I could not recommend Epworth Hospital enough and i commend the worth ethic and empathy by all. Our current stay is at the Lee Wing and previously we were the first patient to use new amazing Paediatric section. Thank you for making every experience the easiest one.

After being admitted to many hospitals, both private and public over the years, I was admitted to the Epworth this week for a day procedure.
It was my best hospital experience ever.
I can't fault the staff.
Due to my requirements to lose weight for surgery I am on a restrictive diet.
I was unable to eat the usual recovery foods on offer but the cafeteria sent me a something I'm allowed, gratis.
That said, I was surprised at how small the cafe was and amazed at the quantity of high sugar and high carb foods there were.
They were bringing out some gluten free goods for lunch after I'd be gone.
It is a shame that catering companies only see black and white.
Healthy eating is not by necessity gluten free.
It does mean less highly processed foods and less grain based products. It means lots of vegetables.
I don't eat bread nor bread substitutes, but I'm not alone in this. (No pastry or cereals either).
There was not a single food that I am allowed available at the cafe when I walked in.
I hope they have another better cafe for staff.

Stayed in the Cato wing for 2.5 days last week. I found the hospital staff and nurses were very efficient and friendly. What I enjoyed most about my visit was the poached eggs holendais sauce, sausages, mushrooms, bacon & grilled tomato for breakfast each day. I didn't really want to leave, to be honest.

I recently had my 20 week scan in the Epworth Richmond and was fairly disappointed. Just to ask for direction at the main reception I was made to queue as one receptionist had to answer the phone and at also deal with visitors needing directions, when the desk next door was not busy at all and occupied by 2 receptionists refusing to point me in the right direction!

The scan was fairly oridnary. The department is run down, I had to wait half and hour, then another 20 minutes as the machine wasn't working and had to be restarted several times. Eventually I was taken to a different room, freezing ultrasound gel was poured onto my belly and the sonographer was not exactly gentle. The images were ordinary and for all this I paid 180$!

Wouldn't recommend this clinic for your pregnancy scans!

I've been admitted here on a number of occasions and the service is always professional and pleasant; rooms are spacious and clean; alternate food menus are available (low calorie, diabetic, vegetarian, kosher, halal option) should the need arise. Nurses are attentive, friendly, caring and happy to have a chat/laugh. A nice private hospital. The ground floor cafe is a little tattered and small and can feel somewhat claustrophobic.

I went there for my allergy feet, first thing to do were pay the money first then went in to one of the room to meet the doctor straight away and got told nothing can be help and the cream that i got from the GP in the afternoon were the best solution already, after i decided to do the blood test and both doctors were said that it will take one hour but at the end I been waiting for 2 hours plus and got told there's something wrong with the lab and can't really give my the results after we had been keep asking how long for few times and the nurse were just keep saying she don't know,we are very disappointed because it's very unorganized,I don't see that's a communication between the testing lab and the floor staff otherwise the nurse can always told us to go home and waiting for the result, not just waiting and waiting and waiting for nothing,if you think you're paying some money and could get the faster and better service, this place probably not a good place for you to visit!!! Basically I went there for nothing, not even something to stop the itching, the doctor just told me it will just heeling by itself,so~don't waste your money to this unhelpful hospital!!!

My mother has been admitted to the Epworth Richmon...

My mother has been admitted to the Epworth Richmond twice in a week due to an uncomplicated procedure and its associated severe complications after being discharged too quickly the first time. Speaking honestly, the vast majority of the doctors and nurses at Epworth are professional and caring, however it can never be helped that there are always the odd one or two individuals within any organisations that are grump, fed-up, prejudicial and uncaring. Sadly, It s also these very individuals (nurse/s) who uncontrollably carve the deepest impression upon the organisation that he/she comes to represent. We are very unfortunate to have encountered one such nurse, whom I won't mention by his name, caused not only a scene, but also a dreadful memory at ED. Being a nurse is unlike flipping burgers, the job is both demanding and rewarding. However, if one lacks the basic kindness and compassion for caring suffering patients, one shall seriously reconsider career pathways. Based on our repeated experiences at the Epworth Richmond, I am struggling to give this hospital a four or five stars rating due to the aforementioned. That said, however we are still extremely grateful for the treatment and care received from doctors and other nurses alike and for my mother being saved by Dr Davidson, Dr Talbot, Dr Chiu and Dr Shin.

I couldn't speak more highly of all the medical and other staff I encountered at Epworth during my recent 2 week stay in the Cato wing. I encountered many nurses over each shift during my stay and the nursing staff were consistently great, caring, patient and knowledgeable. The difference between being a patient and being a client.

I went to Epworth Richmond after spending dozens o...

I went to Epworth Richmond after spending dozens of hours waiting in queues of emergency rooms at public hospitals hoping for better service. How wrong I was!

I had been suffering from headaches and dizziness for close to a month and had visited public EDs multiple times. To their credit, the public hospitals gave me the best care they could and I felt like they genuinely cared about my condition. Unfortunately the last time I visited a public ED, they could not carry out all the tests they should due to a lack of resources.

I went to Epworth Richmond hoping that I'd be able to get tests done quicker. While I was able to able to get a MRI done quickly and saw a good neurologist on the same day (after a 8 hour wait), the quality of the floor doctors on ED was appalling.

After the long wait for the neurologist consultation, the nurses checked my blood pressure before discharging me . My blood pressure was at 180/120. The nurses were concerned and refused to discharge me as this was critically high although I didn't understand how high it was at the time.

The floor doctor who had not even checked on me once during my 8 hour wait, merely put a nitrate sticker on me to artificially reduce the blood pressure as he clearly didn't want anything to do with me other than getting me out of there as quickly as possible. He said he would send my records to my GP and those are yet to be received by my GP either.

It was later on that I found out that blood pressure like that was dangerously high. He also did not tell me about the unbelievable migraine I was about to get later that night due to nitrate either. I might eventually call Epworth to get them to send my health record from the night to my doctor but I doubt that ED doctor even made a record of it.

I have to compliment the nurses though, all of them were wonderful.

All in all I'm pretty sure the doctors at the public hospital were far more attentive and knowledgeable.

If you are planning on visiting a private hospital, I suggest you give a public hospital one try beforehand. You will end up saving a lot of money but more importantly, get the service of better and more caring medical professionals.

I had gone in with complications that needed sever...

I had gone in with complications that needed several tests and was not rushed through by any means as it was not necessary.

From the 22nd of April 2019 to the 27th April

I stayed a total of 6 days. All 5 and a 1/2 days were amazing.
Friendly staff from nurses to cleaning and catering staff.
Almost all the nurses were caring patient and an absolute pleasure to deal with. I say almost all because my experience was completely and utterly ruined by one miserable soul.

The name on the board was CLARA I'm not sure if this is her name because there was no Introduction as all of the other nurses did. Proceeded to just bark orders at me only to half way through leave the room muttering I'll be back. Comes back rude as ever does what needs to be done and leaves. No "are you okay" no "anything you need" no "are you feeling any pain".

Told me some one is coming to see me then left.

The Dr. Came is and she was lovely and told me that if the BOTH specialist cleared me, I can head home that day or the next. ONE Specialist had cleared me and I was excited to head home soon. Nurse bad manners came back saying I can go home, with me replying that another specialist told me he would see me on Monday but I wasn't sure if he meant in hospital or in his clinic and if she could check. With out even looking at anything the nurse said you can go..your going today. As if to rush me out, get you things and go.

She then blatantly lied to me by saying yes this Specialist okayed you to go...I advised her that it was not infact the name of this said specialist and it was infact someone else from that field that came to see me. Even after being caught out lying she refused to go and check the notes he had left in the file. After some back and forth she finally decided to go have a look.

While waiting for her I felt I had enough of this mistreatment. My gf was there at the time and we both looked at each other puzzled. I decided to start packing and I would just leave and explain the situation to my specialist as to why I wasn't there.

She then walked in and in the rudest of manners said yes he said to leave !!! I will discharge you now. I'll go get the paperwork and you then you sign and leave! Or something to that nature.

This got me worked up upset and just wanting to get the hell out. Every good experience I had up untill then had been immediately forgotten due to this aggressive display of lack of any respect for another human let alone a patient.

She then went through my draw of medicine and was sorting things out asking me you know how to take this right... Me in my fit of dissatisfaction saying yes, knowing full well I don't but also thinking I'd rather google it then sit here listening to the rambling screeches of this creature.

Then she came back in as I was changing my clothes with out even knocking waiving a piece of paper and asking me to sign it by placing it on a chair, she says okay sign here and you can go.
I said can you at least wait until I have fully put my pants on, with my jeans around my knees.
Then as I was reading it again she blasted louder as if I didn't hear her the first time. Just sign there that's all.

Without properly having read it in my anger to leave such a negative space I signed and proceeded to finish packing and leave with my girlfriend. In that moment I was adnot given all my medication back and now have to return there today to pick it up.

THE FINAL IMPRESSION I WAS LEFT WITH WHEN LEAVING EPWORTH RICHMOND WAS ONE OF DISHEARTENED DISBELIEF AND ALSO THE FEELING THAT I WAS NOT WELCOME AND JUST WASTING A ROOM.

THIS EXPERIENCE LEFT ME FEELING WORSE WHEN I WENT HOME THAT NIGHT THEN WHEN I CAME INTO THE HOSPITAL.

SHAME ON YOU FOR HIRING SUCH A POOR MEMBER OF SOCIETY. another nurse said if she cannot control her own emotions she is in the wrong feild!!!!

What should have been 5stars is now 1star

I am writing this review from right inside the hos...

I am writing this review from right inside the hospital. Public hospitals are way better than this one , kindly avoid.I had a septoplasy done this morning, I was initially asked to stay overnight, but when I came out of the surgery, even before I regain my conscious, they start pushing me for a discharge. It was because they didn't had private room. I have the top class insurance with no excess and I was put in a room with 4 patients, what was the point of having a health insurance with over $600/ month premium .I have a 3 yr old at home and a newly arrived 2 month old. I am bleeding profusely and just to avoid further injury from my older child as he stays around me more now, I requested for overnight stay with a private room or atleast a double room
The whole experience changed since then. I was dumped into a room of 4 patient's who are in more severe pain than me. I asked for my personal belonging so as to contact my wife and update her, I didnt received it and was told that they have not received it from the admission yet( Even a bag in emirates airlines from Dubai would had been released by then). Finally after spending few hours with the noise and moaning of other patients in pain , I decieded to get discharged. The whole scene changed then, the staff( only 2 nurses in the fully occupied private rooms and the cubicles of 4), they just went beserk, they treated me like as if I have invited them to a concentration camp, the worst and the rude staff I have ever met. I am so much waiting for my ride to be here and leave this nasty place. I felt short of breath and the staff said it is normal and put me on oxygen mask and mentioned that she will return to check, no one ever bothered to come back for hours until to get me ready for discharge. I am posting the pic where I can show that into 2 hours after the surgery with all the pain which I am already going through, the nurse pulled the bandage from my hairy hand like I was there for waxing, the hairs were plucked and soon after rashes developed( see pic attached and was shown to the lady at the patient services window).During the discharge asked for bolster dressing, they had only 2, in 2 hrs there were 5 of them changed because of bleeding and they gave me 2 for the whole night and next day. On the way at the reception spoke to the hospital coordinator over the phone at their reception she offered to arrange more bolster but sounded like she did not care about the rest of the complaints or me posting the review. What a waste of top class private health insurance with no excess. Dandenong public hospital is far better folks. I will spread the word. I have taken few videos and pics which I will upload on their facebook page.

I honestly couldn't fault the Epworth Richmond what so ever. I've been from emergency, to ICU, to HDU, to the coronary care unit, to orthopedics and now rehab. This time the coronavirus precautions were obvious and reassuring, but there was no change in the professional and caring way all of the staff went about their work. I spent 2 nights at Epworth Richmond, discharged this morning. I cannot praise this hospital highly enough. From admission to discharge, it has all been very smooth. Doctors, nurses, cleaners, everyone, are all very caring and professional and the attention to details, second to none. The food was also excellent, top restaurant quality. If ever I need surgery for anything in the future, I wouldn't even consider another hospital. Thank you to everyone at 3CATO for making my stay truly an excellent experience.

Tried the emergency department. It will cost you $300 just to enter. Next, with a suspicion of gallbladder stones, gone through a X-ray before any other exam (my GP said to me after it's useless for this suspicion), for another $170. It's a private hospital after all looking after money. Otherwise people working there are very nice and you don't have to wait. But at the end, not sure I will go back here in case of emergency...

A quarter of a star actually! Absolute crap! My sister is in there now in the crappiest shared room ever even though she pays top health cover! She is in insane pain! Due for an operation Thursday. My family are disgusted at the doctors and going to report them for taking my sister off pain medication until Thursday. She is in agony. Nurses are nice. Doctors don't care if you are in pain or not. Hospital is substandard for someone in for a long stay!

Epworth is a world class hospital complete with some of the best doctors, nurses and surgeons in the country. I spent a week there and nothing was too much trouble. The care was extraordinary, the entertainment and food was restaurant quality. The medical staff work public holidays, they care about patient welfare - the nursing staff were always available to assist. I could not fault my experience. Whether it was an MRI or CT scan - the care and professionalism was second to none. I will never visit any other hospital in Australia if I have a choice. Big shout out to the Neurosurgeons and specialist staff. Am still in awe about how well I was treated. Well done !!

The Hospital rejected taking me even though i have a neurological disorder and couldn't walk. Top Private Health Insurance did not matter either. Epworth was a trusted Hospital in my family, now its nothing special.

I had a really great experience here at Epworth Richmond. I've been in all the Epworth Hospitals here in Victoria and they all have their merits.
I came into the ED here once, and was falling over trying not to pass out. They got me into a wheelchair immediately and saw me within about 10 minutes (felt like hours at the time!). The nurses and doctors were very clued in and actually believed what I was saying. Private ED is very different from public and feels a lot nicer when you're sick. They referred me to a great surgeon for follow-up and I was diagnosed with (what I thought I had) within a few weeks. It was amazing from start to finish and really the way we'd all like it to be every time. I think that's what they aim for

EDIT: Just want to add Matthew Birdsey treated me there and his treatment has had lasting effects in my life. I'll always remember him.

I told her very clearly I m bleeding almost for 9 month tablets and all not working to stop my bleeding so at least put me in semi urgent so that I will get appointment in 2 month but she put me in 3 category which I have to wait for 6 months. Heartless doctor. Simply I paid $250 for her fees but she just spend 5 min for the consultation. Plz my person experience plz don't go with this doctor.

I was admitted to the Epworth Hospital following a heart attack where I underwent open heart surgery. I can't speak too highly of the treatment I received. The Doctors and nursing staff were very professional and efficient but what made it such a positive experience was the care , concern and empathy that the staff, particularly the nursing staff showed to me. Having been in the ICU for several days and having 24 hour one on one care I got to know the nurses very well and was very grateful for high quality care I received.

Was in for day surgery yesterday, everyone was so lovely, I was really nervous and scared but I was looked after very well by everyone, especially the anaesthetist (can t remember his name) but he calmed me down and got rid of all my stress before the surgery, he really made me feel at ease, it takes a lot of hard work to be a medical professional but to be so kind and reassuring is irreplaceable

I was there for 3 nights in the Lee wing & 2 nights in the Cato wing, both absolutely amazing. Unfortunately for me I was unable to eat anything until the last day and the menu and food was excellent and the touch screen ordering system couldn't be easier. All of the staff were really polite, friendly and all hard working, doing an excellent job; they were absolutely outstanding. I love how you know exactly what is going on step by step - the information they give out and how its explained was really helpful and informative. Thanks for the great treatment, I'm really grateful.

Some nurses were racist and doesn't even smile or talk to you when they seen you around. the facilitators that were looking after the students were racist and keep failing people and making up stuff that aren't even true and reported to the school teacher. i would recommand the hospital but definiately not the workers there. DISAPPOINTED!

Sensational!!! Such a pleasant and wonderful experience for my daughter being her first time staying overnight in a hospital. Staff were extraordinary and had gone above and beyond with my expectations. The nurses and doctors are so caring and wonderful. Working in healthcare myself and working at another major hospital I could not find a fault even if I had looked for one. And wow the food was better than restaurant quality and the choices were endless.

Professional clerical and nursing staff and my day procedure went well. Disappointed that they didn't inform me beforehand that after my procedure the nurse calls your support/pickup person and then has an orderly escort you out to Bridge Rd. I waited half an hour for my partner to arrive. I walked over the other side of Bridge Rd to get a better view of traffic in case she was parked in the street. I was thinking of catching the tram to Flinders St station. My partner could have gone to work after she dropped me off before my procedure and I could have made my own way home!

I had a half knee replacement done. The staff and facilities were excellent.

When I arrived at my room after surgery I thought I was in a hotel room. Beautiful view, great food and very comfortable. there was even a large touch screen on a long arm over the bed with Internet, TV, radio, movies, etc all available, no extra charge.

Excellent staff - housekeeping, patient transport, nursing, physiotherapy, etc. All excellent.

I cannot recommend it highly enough.

Attended outpatient unit yesterday 4 Feb '19. there is street parking just outside and you can pay with pay-waive or apple pay, the machine takes your registration number so you don't need a ticket. There is a neat coffee shop round the corner if you arrive too early. I saw my cardiologist and he is excellent, it's great when doctors listen and are on the same page as you.

Just been discharged yesterday 20 December 2018 after having a cardiac angioplasty. The nurses really look after me, the room was great, the food is excellent and Sarah from County Cork was exceptional. Thank you for the care and compassion your staff showed. 5/5. Merry Christmas to all.

More than 4 years ago. I don't wanna say I loved it... it's a hospital but nice and pleasant establishment.

My wife was taken to emergency room

My wife was taken to emergency room
In Epworth Richmond due to complication after surgery. She was seen by Dr. Vicky Kim within 15 minutes after a simple paperwork process. Dr. Kim was absolutely an amazing and caring person, she saved my wife life that night. During the 5 day care at Cato wing, every single staff that we saw were lovely and made our experience easier. We could not be more grateful and would love to send our appreciation to Dr Vicky Kim, Dr Colin Sabou and the team. This is the best hospital that we've been so far and I would highly recommend anytime to family and friends

I am currently writing this review from the northern hospital emergency room! I had surgery on Tuesday and have had complications, in which I was told by my surgeon to call ASAP even though he would be away his covering doctor would be able to advise me on what to do! I called! Several several times! Was spoken to like I was garbage by your emergency staff! The ambulance drivers couldn t even believe the additued problem of the people on the phone! Actually thought I was better off going to the northern hospital! What a disgrace! I m terrified in an emergency department wondering what the hell is going to happen with my ankle and I am a diabetic which is why the surgeon said to call him if anything went wrong! Well it did! but when the nursing staff discharge you with almost zero paperwork and the wrong emergency number to call your surgeon on well that s not really going to be great at 10pm at night! Not to mention the disgusting service from your ED staff over the phone! Well I ll be taking this further don t worry! I m not impressed at all! God pretty much extortion the rates you charge! My surgeon is fantastic so was the anesthetist but the rest of you are disgusting! God when the ambulance tells you to go to the northern hospital than you know ur service sucks! Google needs to allow for zero star review just FYI because you don t even deserve the one that I m obligated to give you on here!

Very high quality private hospital

Very high quality private hospital
If you have private insurance its well worth booking in here for your procedure. You wont have the long waits experienced in public hospitals and will be able to choose your clinician. (Caveat... Victoria's public hospital system provides veryu high quality of care.. especially if you are acutely ill... its just that the Epworth is faster at admitting and teating you!)

Laproscopic surgery booked as day complications meant 4 day stay resulted in me discharging myself. Dissatisfied with standard of care by SOME nurses inconsistent level of care (they need to think about if nursing is really for them). No proper after care. Food services loud pushy and completely oblivious to patient being very unwell.
My Anaesatist (not employed by Epworth) but relative to my care at Epworth as she did not follow through or respond to request on pain mgmt and I had serious adverse reaction to meds hospital ICU left to pick up pieces. 3 weeks on still suffering after effects dizzy lightheaded trying to determine if this is due to Op, meds or unrelated underlying problem. Unhappy and still unwell.

Director

Director
Epworth Hospital
Richmond

I am going to the trouble of writing this email to you as suggested by your accounts department as I feel strongly about the complicated process of getting medical attention at your hospital.

My wife attended your emergency clinic on 16/12/2018. We were seen quickly and also required to have an xray of her foot. The service was excellent and appreciated. Nonetheless, this is what I would expect for having to pay $300 to receive attention. Then came a myriad of accounts processes requiring us to pay separate accounts for xray and then followed by several letters from your offices as well as Medicare refund cheques we had to forward to you etc. Today we received another letter from your accounts office with further medicare refund instructions and a reply paid envelope and the saga goes on and on. I rang your office and after a long wait I was advised the account was now paid in full etc.

My point is what is going on here? Most medical places offer bulk billing including for pathology and xray services or in the very least complete a direct medicare claim so that I can just go home and relax or recouperate. Instead we are still dealing with your accounts paperwork 6 weeks after we attended your hospital on 16 dec 2018. This is bizarre and unacceptable.

My wife and I live in the Docklands and have visited your emergency clinic on several occasions over recent years however, I think enough is enough. In this day and age surely you can organise a better and more efficient system. I also can no longer accept an upfront fee of $300.

Regards
AHMET A
