DISHONEST EMPLOYEES + DISRESPECTFUL MANAGER (MATTHEW COOK)
Upon exiting the rental car at the RDU location, I notified the attendant (Brent) that I needed to retrieve my car that was parked across the street in the large parking deck. He told me to wait in the lobby and that someone will be there momentarily to take me to my car. A few moments later, they alerted me that the transporter had arrived and that I was "good to go."
Upon exiting the transporter's vehicle, he abruptly stopped me asking if I was going to pay him for his service or if Enterprise would. Without any hesitation, I told him that Enterprise would because I was under the impression that he was an Enterprise driver; more so, I thought he was telling a light-hearted joke but realized he was serious. He tried calling them but he did not have service in the parking garage so I called them from my phone.
The first representative that I spoke with asked me to provide her with the driver's name which I had trouble doing so as he was of foreign decedent and I could not interpret his name accurately. She then placed me on a long hold and when the hold was over, Brent, the attendant who I'd initially encountered was on the phone. He proceeds to tell me that he had called the taxi driver because I had requested him, by name. Stunned with the falsehood that he accused me of, I immediately asked to speak with his supervisor. I places on another lengthy hold and at this time, we had been in the parking garage for over 15 minutes which meant that a parking fee would be required upon exiting.
Matthew Cook, the branch manager, finally got on the phone asking me what was going on. At this point, I was certain that he had been informed of the incident but he insisted on hearing my "side of the story." I retold him the incident but now my top concerns were the blatant lies that Brent had told and the fact that I was completely cashless and had no way of paying the driver. Matthew explained that their procedure is to use the airport shuttle which I said would have been perfectly acceptable as I had no preference in the manner that I was transported to my vehicle. He then said that he was told that I contacted the driver on my own and proceeded speak to me in a condescending and disrespectful manner. During the conversation, he made statements such as, "oh no, I know Brent and he's a pretty honest guy," "it's just a $4 trip...you're making a big deal out of this," and "I'm now seeing what type of woman you are" until he finally hung up the phone on me. I URGE ENTERPRISE HOLDINGS TO RETRIEVE THE AUDIO FROM THE PHONE IF INDEED "THE CALL WAS MONITORED FOR QUALITY CONTROL PURPOSES."
