Excellent place. I ve had several dishes here and all is good. Can t go wrong with any of them. They are pricey so be prepared but definitely worth it. Great service. Friendly faces. High end. Full bar. Wine. Desserts. Pizza is excellent. A must try while in Austin.
We stop here for their espresso and pastries. Hands down, the best treats in the area.
I have been to this place two times before and I am going again. The staff are exceptionally helpful and are very patient to my party and I in making decisions. Plus the food is one of a kind compared to soo many who try. The prices are a bit high but worth every buck.
I'm a huge fan of Enoteca and the original Vespaio (the more refined sister restaurant next door).
Enoteca does italian quite well, lots of great appetizer dishes that make for great sharing, a good wine selection and knowledgeable servers. Portions here are quite large and plentiful and they happily modify orders to suit tastes and dietary restrictions. Nice gelato and salumi bar at front so if you just want a few slices of porsciutto on your gelati lemoni then they have you covered. Also a nice place to stop in and get a drink and a bite if your on your own (at the bar of course).
We just came back from Italy and we had a craving for Italian food. Based on a recommendation from others we chose Vespaio. We were not disappointed. The atmosphere is loud but so we're most Italian restaurants we ate at in Italy. The food was excellent and did remind us of our trip. The house made mozzarella was so flavorful we fought over the last bit. The Cacio e Pepe was delicious but had a little more pepper than we expected. It's important to note that everywhere we ate it in Italy had a slightly different taste and flavor. Nonetheless it was very well prepared. The margarita pizza was so good. It had a thin crispy crust and soft in the middle. It's not cheap to eat there but it's not too expensive.
Simply amazing! Classic Italian food to die for. Everything is made with a whole lot of love and fresh ingredients. Incredibly friendly and attentive wait staff to the point that they may actually have psychic abilities. Every bite was a dream and by the time all my dreams had come true I definitely needed a take out box as the portions are generous. The atmosphere is as romantic as Italy itself, sans the fountains.
portions for seafood mixed grill were underwhelming for the $47 I spent on it...
Very nice ambiance, food and service. Very expensive.
Delicious, we enjoyed the salad and the pasta. We ordered something special, pasta with the cream sauce, not on the menu and they didn't blink , it was delicious. We had leftovers the next day and it was quite delicious too.
Ambience solid. Food presentation and flavor omg yes. Dessert mmm mmm
I had shrimp scampi and he had the lasagna Bolognese. I will be back.
Traveling from out of town and stopped in here. I had some pasta and it was awesome! I would definitely come back.
The Saltimbocca was life changing!!! It was the best thing I ate since arriving in Austin for a work trip. The only thing I wasn't a fan of was the extreme close proximity of the tables around us. It felt a bit smooshed during dinner however we did arrive during their peak busy time. I would travel back to Austin for that dish alone. A must try!
I went to this delightful place and reallly liked the ambiance. The atmosphere is truly reminiscent of Europe with an Austin-y touch to the demeanour of staff. The staff is efficient but sometimes the patrons have a hard time catching their eye. We ordered the Duck Confit along with glasses of some excellent red wine followed by some macaroons. The experience was enough to have me coming back to this little corner of Europe within Austin.
Food is way overrated, possibly due to patrons unfamiliar with Italian cuisine. The stale grated cheese on all tables should tell you all you need to know.
Nice little spot on South Congress. We stopped in for lattes and a snack break from shopping. The macarons are fantastic, skip the tiramisu.
The food was delicious and very good, but it was expensive. The portion sizes are moderate to small.
Amazing food, killer wines and Douglas was an excellent server! 10/10!
Quantity is not quality, i didn't like the taste of the pasta, is salty and overcooked.
Honestly some amazing dishes and a fabulous selection of wines. Sadly we waited over an hour for a table we reserved. My pasta dish was cold when it came out. I don t think they are equipped to handle parties of more than 4 people well at a time. We had a party of 10 and sadly had too many complaints. The manager was rude and did not handle it well at all.
Had a coffee here during a walk down South Congress and thought we'd also treat ourselves to a little slice of tiramisu - which was amazing! Super tasty, well priced and I've been dreaming of that dessert ever since.
Our server knew the intricacies of every dish we asked about. Each dish was superbly crafted and presented. The atmosphere was unpretentious upscale casual just enough to make us feel right at home.
I have to say, I was completely unimpressed. An $11 salad consisted of mostly arugula, with tiny bits of romaine and spinach, 3 very thin slices of radish, and 4 kalamata olive halves...I asked for avocado to be added, but it was not added. My friend had a $22 pasta dish, that, in my opinion, was mediocre at best. Absolutely NOTHING came with these two dishes...no bread, nothing. I feel cheated. Some restaurants in Austin are really doing a great job with take-out during covid...this is not one of them. I would give zero stars, but google won't let me.
Food was good, terribly small portions. Waiter acted as if he was better than I was just because I went in on my lunch break in my work clothes. Just go to Olive Garden
Great service and food. Risotto balls were amazing! Chef made us a pasta dish off the menu special to our liking. Delicious!
One of my favorite meals in a while. Really good homemade pasta and sauces. Great wine list, service, and atmosphere.
My favorite restaurant in Austin. Great location, delicious food!
Go for the Toscana pizza here - there is nothing better on the menu! I love the service here. The mozzarella app is really good too. I would do that and pizza plus a couple of drinks for a great date night table meal. I love the Billie Holiday and some of their reds.
While the atmosphere and food is decent, the lack of attentiveness by the wait staff really impacted my experience. Austin definitely has a service industry issue - so Enoteca is not alone in this, but it s still an issue for me. So if you don t expect or want it, this won t be an issue for you.
With that being said, the pork meatballs were quite tasty and I would order them again. The lemon panna cotta was a surprisingly big serving that two people can share with no ill will against each other.
Scallops were excellent. Cheesecake was amazing. Service was great. Recommend.
Great Italian food at good prices and good atmosphere. Definitely my favourite go to Italian spot and in a great location in South congress.
I went here after work with a couple of co-workers who swore it was the best lasagna they ever had. I was skeptical, but was quickly turned. Lots of great pizza and lasagna. My friends and I will be going back whenever we are in Austin.
A great casual Italian spot that takes its cuisine seriously.
Everyone s food looked amazing. Mine was better than expected. Great service and music and atmosphere! check it out after exploring soco.
We always enjoy this neighborhood fave. Glad it was open on Superb Owl Sunday evening.
The place is really great...it has a great vibe...and the food is soooo delicious!!
Been a few times for brunch and I love. Great food and service every time, and desserts are even better.
Hands down the best Italian food I ve ever had. I can t recommend the lasagna enough! You won t regret it!
The maiale saltimbocca was breathtaking and the calamari was light, yet flavorful. Everything about this place, from the music, to the wine, and the food is all A-1. Highly recommend.
A disappointment after my trip to Italy. For fine dining and rave reviews, I expected much more. The bread was ok. The pesto lacked pine nuts. It was all olive oil and basil. The pasta was not al dente. It was much softer than what I ate in Italy. Also, the choice of pasta with pesto was poor. Sheets of pasta with pesto is clumsy to eat and not the best option for picking up sauce. The crab cake in the Mixto mare was mediocre. It was not the lump crab meat kind. The swordfish was overcooked.
I love the pasta with funghi and the suppli (also known as arancini -- fried risotto balls from sicily). Great service and delicious Italian food.
SO good. The portions are big. I absolutely loved what I had. Great atmosphere.
Probably my favorite Italian food place in Austin. Since it's right off South Congress, parking can be an annoyance. It's a tiny little place, so get there early if you go during peak times, because there most likely will be a wait.
Consistent, great place. We drive down from Missouri yearly to visit. I always have to buy almost $60 in deserts to take to my family in Kileen. Get the chocolate mousse!
Amazing atmosphere! Best Italian food in Austin. Menu changes often to keep ya coming back. Staff is always attentive and polite
Stopped into the cafe for dessert and coffee. The desserts were both unappetizing. Don't get cheesecake or German chocolate cake. The cake was dry.
love this place! we got the veggie sampler tray for the appetizer and it was so great! I loved the eggplant puree. the entrees took a while to get to the table but it was worth the wait! plus we got pretty full from the appetize because of how much they give you! our server recommended two dishes that we ended up getting and they were both so flavorful! we shared a seasonal pumpkin cheesecake and YUM
would definitely recommend
Nice spot. Casual to upscale, got reservations via open table, worked great. The four of us each had something different and all were great. The octopus shells dish is top notch and make sure to have the carpaccio app. Good mid range wine list, but even the lower cost wine (pic attached) was great for the price point. Parking is a little bit of a challenge, but is available in the back. Take the valet...its easier.
The pizza is the one of the best I've eaten (I've eaten a lot of pizza around the US) the thin crust it hand made and oh soooooo good. If you're a fan of pizza on the East Coast you will love love love this pizza. Regina's in Quincy Market ( Faneuil Hall) in Boston was my favorite....this is one pizza that could change my mind!!!! HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!!!
Great place. Lasagna top notch. Should have gotten the name of the server we had. Impeccable service. Pork Belly Riscotto good. Veal Meatballs filled with signature cheese and sauce.. Oh my. Fantastic place. Has free parking in back. I imagine you could get something average there, calamari was avg, however the service out weighs any avg to exceptional. One of our favorites in Austin without having to dress up at Trulucks or spend a lot at Eddie Vs . Great place give it a try. Sunday's seem a little less busy as some of the reviews mentioned lines. 5pm Sun. No line. JG
Food is delicious, service good but one gripe. I ordered a slice of cake to go. I got a sliver w/ the end knocked off. If I had seen this before I left, I would have 1) questioned the size for this $5.00 cake slice and if this was what they thought was correct, sent it back! VERY disappointed when I got home.
Ordered the carbonara, the quality for the price was way underwhelming. Also wasn't really a fan of the bean dip they serve with the bread, would have preferred just olive oil honestly .
I'm changing my review. This place used to be good until they changed their menue. Not coming here again.
In the USA if you want to eat a little good, you have to look for foxes from other countries.
Here it is Italian cuisine but with a great variety, and at a reasonable price.
Was not a fan of this place. Food was really not great, portions were small... You can find a better overpriced salad elsewhere. With all the fantastic restaurants we have in Austin, go elsewhere. Many uncooked meats, etc. Really nice looking place, nice decor, but ultimately don't recommend.
Some of the best food in town, great pizzas, salads and pastas. This is a must go to if you haven't been. Great atmosphere as well. Consistent for all 10 years I've been coming here.
Delicious salad and pizza for lunch, the pizza was perfectly thin and crispy (but not overcooked). We had macaroons for desert and they were the perfect after-lunch treat, with just the sweetness. Our waitress was helpful and friendly, and checked in without being annoying. She even went the extra mile and asked the chef if he would sell us some of their black truffle salame that was featured on the pizza special we had eaten.
In a town that has little clue about Italian fare, this place, along with Reale's up north, are the standout exceptions. Authentic red sauce alongside creative treatments makes this a trip worth making despite the wait and the refusal to take reservations.
Always a great place to eat. The charcuterie offerings are to die for. The main dishes are authentic. Most importantly they offer their tables on a walk-in basis making it extremely friendly and casual.
Loved the Spaghetti Carbonera! They have a nice patio, but don't sit out there during the dead of heat between 2-4 pm.
This is very similar to D amigos restaurant in Houston, which everyone knows if they follow me that I m absolutely in love with it. The owner here at Vespaio is Peter, he been in the same location for 20 years, the chef has been with him also. Peter is extremely engaged and present, super owner, super restaurant, just plain outstanding. Excuse my photograph I was just trying to be artsy
Great atmosphere, knowledgeable and friendly wait staff, a good variety of Italian foods, and an overall wonderful experience.
Situated deep in the heart of what makes Austin weird, this is a high quality experience in both taste and decor, perfect for a night with friends or a date night with that special someone. When in Austin, there are many choices, and variety is the spice of life. Just make sure this is one that you try.
Our favorite Italian restaurant in Austin. A must- visit every time we're in town.
Tried their pizza for the first time and it was truly disappointing. No red sauce, soggy, salty. Too bad, never had a bad meal there until now.
Excellent food. $25 average per plate but too much noise, difficult to have a good conversation.
Traditional Italian fare, with tasty food. Small portions but lot of flavor
This has been the best place to come in Austin until now!! They have scaled back the menu and the waitress didn't even offer to help with suggestions let alone replace water until the end of the meal. The food was not very good. I am terribly disappointed!!
