My experience with Empower Solar has been exceptional. Customer service and satisfaction were number from the day the salesman came to my home and continues on. They were the only company that sent men to take measurements on my roof as part of the pre-sales experience. They made me feel comfortable that I was getting the right size system for my needs. The installation crew was great. Polite and respectful of my home and property. I am now enjoying banking hours for the coming summer air conditioning time. We had our system installed on October 2013 and due to the bad weather we did not have alot of sun which had us concerned but the system still captured sun to generate solar power. Overall we are sill have generated more power that we have used. When our system have been inspected by the Lipa Solar Inspector he advised me that this was the best system that he has ever seen and he was very inpressed with the panels, control panel and installation. He had continued to speak to me for approximately 20 minutes about how good this system was. I was also every impressed with the installation crew on how professional they were. I would recommend anyone to use EmPower Solar as we are extremely happy with everything they have done and the system.
Awesome experience! EmPower is the best. They gave us the most for our money along with top quality sunpower panels. Their service and communication were excellent and took care of everything. Ed Olsen was so much more than just a sales rep. He saw the project through to completion and even came by the day we hooked up to the grid. I had been thinking about going solar almost 2 yrs ago, and even got an early proposal. Other circumstances force a postponement of that until this year. Then I did extensive research in earnest. There were a couple of companies that just turned me off right away. Others impressed me. In the end, it was the SunPower technology that that won me over. In my reference research, I even encountered someone who went with another company for installation and financing, but decided on the SunPower panels.At that point, it made sense to me to go with a master dealer for SunPower. That's where EmPower Solar came in. Salesperson Beth Austin made everything very clear for me and the whole team was very professional and open with me. Everything they said was making sense based on the research I had done. They came up with a design that they said should provide 98% of my usage. I was happy that installation was done less than 3 months after signing the contract. It took a day and a bit. So far, my system is in fact covering just about 100% of my usage. Even with the heat waves we've had, my PSEG netmeter is still reading below the kWh it was at when my system went live. All in all, I highly recommend SunPower by EmPower Solar. Do your homework/research/due diligence first, and I think you'll be very happy with the job done by SunPower by EmPower Solar.

My experience with EmPower started when I was comparing solar panels and installation companies and my first contact there was Matthew Brill. I selected EmPower primarily because of the way Matthew approached me and my project. He is knowledgeable, professionals and was patient enough to run through several scenarios with me.
As someone who works in the design & construction process, I was also extremely impressed with EmPower's design and permitting teams. All along the way, a dedicated Project Manager kept me appraised and was available for any question I had.
The Installation was done in less than 2 days and the team was courteous, knowledgeable, clean and most important in these Covid days, very very safe.

Everybody- our salesperson, the design team, project management, sales administrator - was patient, kind and thorough, explaining everything clearly and step by step. The installation crew was courteous and professional. They worked hard, nonstop the entire day despite the oppressive heat. They were respectful of our property and thoroughly cleaned the yard upon completion of the installation. The project looks amazing and we can't wait to see the benefits of solar power!

What I liked about SunPower by EmPower:
1. Transparency - I spoke to Matt Brill in Sales, who is truly passionate about sustainability, which is very refreshing compared to other sales people I spoke with whose primary objective was to sell and close. Matt was very transparent about cost, which was one of the reasons why I decided to sign a contract with EmPower.
2. Equipment - SunPower is the premium brand in Solar PV. As the panels and inverter will stay on my roof for a few decades, I've decided for a more expensive option with quality product and hasel-free warranty.
3. Professionalism - On installation day, a crew of 4 people led by Dave Ezzo arrived bright and early at 7am and finished everything in one day. They did a clean job and was very polite and patient in explaining what they will do and the progress. Project manager also kept constant communications on what's next.
Tips:
1. Educate yourself before calling the companies. I recommend 2-3 hours of reading in total or about 5-10 articles. Most of the work you need to do is limited to the initial due diligence process, once you decide on a company and sign a contract, the company and project manager takes care of everything so there is no more with for you.
2. Don't only focus on the panels. Inverters are equally important so don't neglect them.
3. Call at least 3 companies and compare metrics. A good mix of national and local companies is recommended because while martial companies benefit from econony of scale, local companies have advantage of familiarity with local rules (e.g. permit process with local building department) and regulations (e.g. fire code).
4. Pay attention to after sales service. How are problems handled? How soon can someone come?
5. Buy, don't lease! If you can't pay cash, get an EFS loan, interest rate is very reasonable.
6. Keep records as you will most likely need to refer to them when claiming Federal and State tax rebates (which is sustantial) or when being assessed for property value increase.
My experience with EmPower has only been positive. My Sales guy was Matt Brill and he was very informative and communicative. I never once felt pressured to install the solar panels. He explained everything quite thoroughly and it made sense for us to do it. All along the process the whole team has been professional and courteous and explained every step of the process (multiple times) because the process was quite involved, but they were always patient and helpful. I would absolutely recommend EmPower solar panels to my friends and family.
From beginning to end, we have been thoroughly impressed with the experience. From Scott helping to educate us about our solar options to the install team, particularly Dean and Kevin, that worked tirelessly through a heatwave, we give Empower 5 stars!
I had my system installed in October 2020. Let me start out by saying I did not pick empower solar because of there reviews. I picked them because of there products. I also choose empower to do my mother in-laws solar project. So let me start off with my sales rep. Scott. He was great he answered all my questions and it took a while to finally build the right system for both projects. Unfortunately what was written down on paper in regards to the federal and tax credits were a lie. It was all a sales tactic to get you to sign I did not receive the amount that was told to me by Scott. So now I have till June to pay the $23,000 or it will get rolled over into my loan. I am not getting that back from my taxes. I encourage anyone who s looking to go solar to first talk to your tax guy. Now my next issue with this company was my project manager Georgia she was horrible. She had a lack for communication every time I had to call her to find out what was going on and when I finally go in touch with her it sounded like she just woke up. Everyone was working form home and it was like they were talking in there bed. My solar project was gonna be 29 panels originally but I had my roof redone and I moved somethings around. So I asked Georgia to setup a droid to remeasure my roof to see if I can get 30 panels she said the they will use Google Maps to look at my roof. I tried to explain to her that my roof is new and Google Maps is old it s not updated after a week of trying to convince her she finally had the droid come out and after measuring they confirmed I can fit 30 panels. Now the paperwork had to be updated because I signed for 29 panels and wasted over a week try to convince Georgia to measure the roof. Then it was just a lot of back a forth with her and she was not very attentive. Then the install team came and put up the unit so far I have no issues with the install team. That s why I gave the one star. Then my system was up and running but I had an issue with the pvs6 unit it was dropping the WiFi signal. I dealt with Jose for like 3 months trying to figure this out it was very frustrating finally he sent someone to troubleshoot it didn t work. Then again someone came out and the changed the unit now the WiFi signal was good but I couldn t see the amount of usage on the app. I spoke to jose he said he had to contact sunpower but It would take time cause he s involved in an audit. I waited and waited and waited and nothing. First of all you re audit is not my problem. My problem is my system I m still a customer and I should come first. I spoke to the supervisor of that department and the issue was fixed in a day. Unbelievable that that s all it took to fix the issue. Now I come to the permit closing department. My project was a little involved so I thought I was looking to get a little personal touch with closing my permit. They assigned me some guy again working from home that seemed sleeping when I spoke to him. When I tried talking to him to tell him what was going on he acted like I was bothering him. So I didn t want to deal with this guy. I dealt with the supervisor Rory. He was great he answered all the questions and we learned that the paperwork the closing department had were wrong cause they never updated the amount of panels on the paperwork so that was a setback. But other then that Rory was great that s why they got 2 stars. So based on my experience it is rediculouse to me that I have to deal with a supervisor to get things done over there. And I m still trying to get the $500 friends and family check from them since November. I can t believe what an unorganized business this is. I wouldn t recommend this company
I have been in service business for over 40 years. I was very impressed with EMPOWER from the first meeting with Steve right through the installation with Mike. I was informed of every stage of the process and everything that was promised was delivered.
The entire process was painless and totally professional, starting at pick my solar all the way through to the final inspection. Empower also went the extra mile to find me alternative financing because my home was owned via an LLC. I had expert guidance throughout the whole process, and did not need to do extensiveindependent research to feel that I was making the right decisions along the way. The system is producing and the financing is costing pretty much exactly as promised. I am actually earning a small return on my investment, to make going environmental all the sweeter :-)
Empower Solar has been great throughout the project of installing my 5.2 Kilowatts system. The salesman Matthew Brill was very patient, helpful and answered all my questions. The communication of the project s progress and management of the project was excellent. From the salesmen, management and installers all were polite and professional. The project from the time of signing the contract and the installation was completed much faster than expected. The installation was completed in one day and the crew was courteous, respectful and cleaned up their work. My system has been running for almost four months and producing power with no issues and I haven t had to pay for any energy since the installation.

After much thought and preparing for my transition to Solar. Empowered installed my system in Nov 2010. I had a very minor issue with the electrical contractor subbed out by Empower, but the work actually done by Empower was flawless. The system has been though two major Nor-Easters and Sandy. As I reside in the Long Beach-Atlantic Beach area this is remarkable that my system has actually survived and exceeded expectation for ease of use, reliability and production output. Over time, I have reduced my electrical usage by installing LED lighting where possible throughout the home. This adjustment now allows me to charge my two Chevy Volts from the systems output so my actually usage of electricity is low and consumption of gasoline is virtually nil. Nine months out of the year my electrical bill is about $11.00 (admin fee from PSEG). The other three winter months is variable, but still very low when you evaluate over a 12 month period. I might add that the home has electric oven, cook top, high output microwave and electric radiant heat (secondary to my gas fired furnace) so I am would actually be a high residential user of electric if not for the panels.
In retrospect, this was a sound financial investment and I consider my lifestyle as a contributor to the ecological welfare of the planet.

Having EmPower install solar Panels on my house has been the best investment I have made since I purchased my home. It s a wonderful feeling knowing that my home is powered by clean renewable energy that has no negative impact on the environment unlike fossil fuels. My utility bill went from over $150 a month to just over $11 a month and once a year I get a credit for selling my excess electricity that I produce to PSEG. The panels have been so efficient that I produced more electricity then I consumed so I decided to purchase an electric car to charge at home which allowed me to save more money since I don t have to purchase gas for my car. EmPower was great to work with and answered any questions or concerns that I may have had during the process. They took care of everything from start to finish and I work highly recommend them for your solar install. Thank You EmPower and I look forward to decades of free clean energy.

It's been almost a year since we started our Solar journey with EmPower. We made the decision to switch because of a promotion through my employer, as well as the federal tax incentive to make the switch. We also needed a new roof, so that helped too. The entire process with EmPower was quick and painless. After being referred to EmPower, we met Bethany Austin, our sales rep. She scheduled a time that worked for us, even on weekends, and was incredibly professional, knowledgeable, and friendly. She truly has her customers' best interests at heart. It did take several months for the town to approve our permit, which was no fault of EmPower's. The town's delay did force us to move our project into the following tax year, but EmPower did the right thing by giving us the difference in tax incentive that we were losing out on. The install itself took 3 days. It would normally have taken 2, but the weather didn't exactly cooperate. The install team worked hard, were efficient, considerate, and professional. Once it was complete, they gave us a walk-through and showed us how to use the app to monitor our energy output. In the end, it was completely worth it. I look forward to sunny days when we don't have to use electricity from the grid! Thank you to the entire EmPower team - Bethany and Byron especially for being on top of our project!
When installing our panels service was excellent. I now have very little need to contact them, however when I do it is always a challenge. I am only successful when I drive down there and voice my concerns. Calling is useless. Very frustrating
The overall experience was positive, however it took 4 months from the initial visit to the system installation with no delays from the homeowners. Delays occurred with the building permit due to the company's need to renew their local license and scheduling the installation.
A++ I was very impressed with the professionalism and quality on all ends of process. where should I start, like many of you I had also done tons of research and decided to go with empower solar. Matt who was the salesperson had went in detail explaining all the different models they had to offer, he helped me decide the best panels that would fit my budget and needs for the house, passing me to David E. who was the project manager, from the beginning of the installation till the end, David also went above and beyond to make sure everything goes smooth and easy. SunPower (EmPower) was amazing from the very first introduction to completion. I started reviewing solar systems in May of this year and reached out to Ed Olsen through a friend who had his system installed late last year. Ed is extremely knowledgable and walked my wife I through the process in person, over the phone and email whenever we had questions. He stayed in constant communications after we signed the contract for install and even came by after the install was completed to ensure we were satisfied and answer any remaining questions we might have. I have to say in dealing with numerous companies/contractors I have never been surprised to the upside. SunPower also fast-tracked the install so we could get the most savings during the summer months (our install was completed early August). From sales to engineering, product management, project management and finally the installers (I only had the opportunity to personally meet Dave - the foreman - and Dave one of the installers; went well above my expectations) every person/service was top notch. I'd also like to premise the above by stating, it is extremely rare that I would give a review online (good or bad), but I personally wanted to thank Ed et al at SunPower for their service. This is the first real problem I have had with my system, which was installed about 4 years ago. The diagnosis and repair of the system was handled in the same professional manner as was the original installation. From my first phone call to Empower until the repair was completed, everything was done properly and on time. Empower Solar remains the best contractor I have ever employed. The system itself has done better than promised and I have not paid anything for electricity since it was installed. In fact, it overproduces enough energy to give me a credit balance on my electric bill.

Empower by sunpower is the 5 star solar company in NYC and Long Island. I interviewed a lot of solar company to purchase solar. Initially, I saw Empower By Sunpower had highest rating and still does. I called them for appointment. Erik Reitmayr showed up. He is very nice and honest gentleman. He will not pressure you to go solar or purchase it from Empower. He will give you true and honest information about their panels and other companies. I didn't believe him at first time. After a lot of research solar and other companies, I found that he was right about sunpower panels. They are the best panel in solar industry. Erik will answer all your question and give you honest opinion as what he would do if he would be in your shoe. I met a lot of sales professional in life, but never met honest sales professional like him.
This is a followup review from my original installation a few years ago. We installed solar panels with Empower Solar. It seemed like a good idea at the time and Empower did a superb job at every step of the installation. From Mat Layton's first visit where he explained everything and then checked out our electric panel to the final post-installation inspection by NYC, they really made everything so smooth. Fast forward post-pandemic, and 2020 saw us using 27% more electricity due to online schooling, to work from home to watching movies at home. Even with all that our solar panels still covered ~80% of our electricity. I'm happier than ever with the decision to go solar, and with Empower Solar. Thanks guys!
I have been dealing with Em Power for 8 years this April. From the very first day till present the entire staff has been professional, friendly & helpful. Beside my yearly check up on my solar panels I have NOT had any problems at all. After owning my system for about a year and a half I think now would be a good time to leave a review. My experience with EmPower Solar, their name when my system was installed, has been a rocky one to put it lightly and today is no exception. From the minute my salesman left the company we were put in a state of limbo for months up months and then handed off from one person to the next. 8 months later my system was finally to be installed. The installation team was absolutely top notch. Guys everywhere and they truly did an amazing job. Couldn't be happier with that part of the job. Now we are back to dealing with the office staff and "Managers of this and that" and the run around picks up where we left off. Finally get the app installed and running and was told "don't worry, we monitor your system for any issues and if we see one we will notify you". Fast froward to yesterday (7/16/2017) as I'm cutting the lawn and pass my inverter. Never paid it any mind because all seemed well. Pushed the button and got nothing. Look and I have Malfunction and Fault light lit. So i thought this just must have happened because I was told they monitor it too. Open the app only to find my system has been producing ZERO since April 9th to July 16th. Guess I shouldn't have expected much since it's been a battle with them for so long. It was explained to me today that I can setup alerts if there's an issue like this but why wasn't this explained to me when my system went live a year and a half ago??? They say they build relationships with customers so our has become a love/hate relationship and doesn't appear to be getting any better. 1/12/2021 Update I now have my 2nd roof leak from the tracks installed on my roof. They fixed one a year ago that left me with water pouring through my ceiling fan. Now I have a new one coming from the same area. Last time they drilled a lag bolt into the beam but went sideways so they pulled it out and never sealed it. This one was roofing nails they pulled out to make room for a track foot and they never sealed that. I can t imagine what other homeowners are dealing with but experience with them has been nothing short of AWFUL.
After interviewing and listening to numerous solar installers in Staten Island, New York metro area, I was indeed successful in selecting a solar installer- Empower Solar, installing SunPower panels that exactly fit my needs. From the beginning stage, Corey Roberts (from Empower Solar) impressed me by his immense knowledge of the product and solar energy overall, but more importantly what impressed me was his candid statements with no pressure of selling a product or service. Of course, I had whole laundry list of questions and concerns that Corey took his time responding and providing explanation where I was double minded. At our own pace of understanding the product and services, my wife and I decided to select and proceed with Empower Solar. At my own request, EmPower was able to assign Dylan Rolleri (from EmPower Solar) as project manager and Cody as site manager on my account. The transition from Corey Roberts to Dylan Rolleri was seamless (though Corey checked on the status periodically) and Dylan did not miss any opportunity in informing me of the next steps and working around the corner to fit my schedule. Whereas, Corey demonstrated an excellent ability of listening to my requirements and explaining me the technical aspects in a laymen language clearly, concisely and to a point where I was satisfied. Not to mention, Corey and the crew did fantastic job cleaning the place once the work was completed. So far, I'm happy to inform that SunPower panels are working as intended. More of the performance to be seen in Winter and next Summer. After the first year, I plan to baseline the production capacity and then monitor the progress of any deviation, if any. I highly recommend Empower Solar for installing SunPower panels as EmPower Solar truly comprises of very finest and professional team members whose goals are ultimate customer-centric. Currently, waiting for NYFD to approve the Lithium batteries and once the approval is obtained I plan to bring back Empower Solar to install Tesla's lithium battery connected to solar panels for backup purposes.
the experience has been good from first to last. From the first visit by Katrina, through the permitting and installation overseen by Ali and Mike, through the followup afterward. Can't wait to see our first bill.
EmPower solar is a great company to work with, from my first meeting with them to the commissioning of my system they were nothing short of professionalism. There engineering and install team are courteous and professional , answered all my questions and concerns.
EmPower is a great company. We installed two systems from them. One on our roof a few years back and one in our backyard last year. Both times we went through Scott McDonnell. He was extremely helpful and upfront about everything we needed to know. Going solar is one of the best things we've done. Our electric bill is far lower than it was. We installed our solar panel was installed on March 2018. Company and solar panel installation service went very smoothly. No Complain. I think Matt (salesman) is fantastic. He responds to any concern, long after solar is installed even though it is not his responsibility. He goes over and beyond his responsibility.
From the moment I met with Byron, to the point they completed my solar panels, all along Alexandra was very responsive with any questions I had at any time of the day. I highly recommend them for both quality, price, and customer service.
From start to finish everyone at this company did a great job. It was such an easy process with no BS! There was no rush to sign anything and every part of the process is laid out for you for your own research and review. My first contact with the company was Corey Roberts. He was excellent, very knowledgeable, super attitude without making me feel pressured and he followed up with informational emails promptly. Everyone I ve dealt with in the company since then has been very professional and courteous to include Alexandra Buckley and Tim (the engineer). I would like to make special mention of Mike and his crew of installers. They were professional and clearly have an excellent work ethic and attitude. This is all worthy of five stars, however, the one snag I ran into was the additional charge for using a credit card which was significant. My assumption is that is why you offer free financing as an option. Thank you

They were fabulous they showed up to start 7:00am on May 24, 2017 as they said. The five man crew worked like a fine tuned clock. Did a very neat clean install. When they were done they cleaned up that you wouldn't even know they were on my property. Would highly recommend Empower solar and that crew.
Very nice company. Entire process went very smooth. Solar Installation is a complex process that includes roof inspection, change of meter, town permission and solar panel selection. I highly recommend to install solar using Empower.

I had my house done by this company they are very professional and did an excellent job they have systems in place for the scheduling of the job pre and post to ensure 100% accuracy during installation, being a business owner I can appreciate This. From start to finish, everything went very smoothly with our new solar panels installation. Pete did a great job at explaining everything to us and making sure we were satisfied with everything along the way. The installation went very well, all 32 panels were installed in a day and the guys left everything clean and were very respectful of our house. Mike came back a couple days later to set up the online monitoring and was very accommodating. I love the app, which allows us to keep track of our electric usage and production. I highly recommend SunPower!
I have never dealt with a company that everyone I speak to his professional helpful and treat you like family. Empower is an exception to that rule . Whenever I call EmPower the people of very nice they go out of their way to make me happy. I would like to thank Ali, Mike, and James and all the Empower employees I'm sorry I can't list all your names but everyone is great service is second to none.
I purchased a solar system from this company five years ago. I believed them to be professional and responsible at the time. I probably would have given them a bunch of stars back then. Now? Not so much.
Five years into my purchase, my panels stopped working. Now I pay back the loan and an electric bill during the hottest months of the year. Meanwhile, EmPower could not care less. We reported this problem to them over a month ago. They sent someone to look at the system and "update" the software. This did not work. After days of no word, we managed to get someone on the phone and they agreed to order a new inverter. We were told it would take 5 - 10 days to deliver. On the 10th day, we called and found out the part had been "backordered," and they could not provide an accurate delivery date. They never explained why they didn't call to inform us about this change. I guess they don't think it's important to keep customers in the loop. We pleaded with them to somehow expedite the process. They said they would look into what they could do. Please forgive me for being skeptical.
The inverter finally arrived and was installed two days ago. Guess what. The system still does not work. One might think that after performing this type of service, EmPower would perform a diagnostic to ensure the system was actually producing. Apparently, that would be giving them too much credit. We're here paying the loan, paying electric, and getting no support in spite of the fact that this system is only five years old. We were barely halfway into the warranty when the system failed.
Also, good luck ever getting someone from their service department on the phone. My advice: press "1" for sales. They answer. They can't help and they have to hunt down the service people, but hey it's better than leaving messages to be ignored.
If I knew then what I know now, I would never go near this company. Buyer beware.
***Update***
Since writing this review and reaching out by other means, I have been contacted by both a company representative and one of the owners. As it turns out, the inverter replacement worked, but the website needs to sync with its serial number before accurately reporting output. The owner said he would investigate the matter and complete a report. Once that is done he said he will make us whole. I will update my review accordingly once this process is complete.
***2nd Update***
Since the events in this review, Empower conducted a review of the situation. They recognized that their customer service employees could have handled the situation better and identified Solar Edge's lackluster fulfillment of the warranty as the root of the problem. While I accept that Empower will work to improve its customer service and I accept that much of the blame belongs with Solar Edge, I cannot give 4 or 5 stars as this is a problem capable of repeating itself as long as Solar Edge is involved.
In the end, Empower was attentive and concerned. I give them credit for their efforts to make things right.
Very impressed with the overall level of customer service - Jose was very responsive and proactive in helping to ensure our issue was resolved. Technicians were professional, skilled and efficient.
The Solar Panels are amazing and the system is currently running better then expected. Matt my sales guy did amazing at finding out the perfect system for me and Alexandra and Patrick from Project Management team, ensured the panels went on properly and they look awesome, thank you guys
Great pre-sale and installation. Sales rep is very articulate and presented all the options professionally with honest opinions and recommendations. Installation was also pretty smooth as a whole The only hiccup is city inspection that took two trips but overall I would definitely recommend this company.
