Like everyone else on here I had problems with my bill. They told me they sent multiple texts and I received none of them. Either my phone blocked them as spam or they where not sent. The only bills I take seriously these days is the ones I receive through mail anyway so even if I saw this in text I probably would have thought it was fake. This went to collections which I received an actual bill through the mail which I paid promptly. I never opted into this text message option. This makes me never want to give out my cell phone number again.

Physician was fine. To pay for my visit I got text messages that looked like I was being scammed and then threatened to go to collections without ever being sent a paper bill. I did not sign off on being sent billing information through text. If you want to get paid, you need to reconsider your practices.
Thing you don't know about ER visit you will receive separate bill. I received mine via text message which to me seemed like one of those scam messages. Later I received by Bill I called to check if my insurance was approved to date. I updated one and was told to wait 6 weeks will send me the bill. Guess what they sent my bill for collection with an inaccurate bill. Now am trying to call eppa customer support for three days now am in call waiting one hr straight. This place has poor service.
Like many others I had no idea the Physician was billed separate from the visit. WHY? So I got the first bill for the ER and made a payment, then I get a bill in the mail saying I can setup a payment plan finally so I do. Come to find out I only setup the EPPA payment plan because the EPPA bill was very close to the amount of the ER visit, and my ER visit bill was almost in collections. Insurance took care of $90 of a $1000 bill because its billed this way (vs $1500 off a $3200 ER bill)and I have good insurance.
If this is the way it is, the Physician should have to tell you at the hospital before you leave that you will be getting 2 bills since the Physicians are a part of this association. Otherwise it seems like a scam... which it is...
EDIT: In regards to your reply, how is this relevant? What adjustments have been made? My only communication was via SMS and this was merely a week ago.
To reiterate, the problem is that you folks operate 100% via SMS. Nothing ever comes in the mail regarding a bill. Due to spam texts, a good many people have their phones set to block all messages from numbers not in their contact lists.
THEY DON'T GET YOUR TEXT. So the very first communication they receive is an envelope in the mail from a collections agency. I did receive the text, but like I said, some random SMS that immediately asks for personal information to pay some supposed bill fails every litmus test for common phishing scams. I ignored it.
I've already forwarded this whole ordeal to the MN attorney general, as there is zero chance this is a legitimate way to do business and submit invoices.
ORIGINAL: Looks like I'm not alone in questioning whether this was even a real company.
For one, everything on it mentioned radiology. We didn't get any radiology services when we took our son in, so figured this was a scam.
Apparently it isn't? This is 2021, what kind of shady company sends invoices and communicates only via SMS, the most insecure communication imaginable?
You want your money? MAIL a proper BILL.
As if anyone is going to click random links in a spam text to pay a supposed bill? Absolutely ridiculous. Right when we thought the American healthcare industry couldn't possibly get any worse, here comes EPPA.
I didn't have any problems with collections or payment as others have...once I did all the work on my own to figure out this was a legitimate bill. All I got was a sketchy looking text that I would definitely have ignored if I hadn't read all these other reviews. I had no prior indication that this company would be sending me an invoice, and the only contact was a super vague, scam-bait-looking text with a link to make a payment, so I can see how it would be easily missed, ignored, or filtered out. All the responses here say "we're working on it" but it doesn't seem like much has changed. Obviously do your own research and make sure you're not getting scammed another way, but just wanted to add another review to to let people know that I contacted my hospital and confirmed that this was a real company that they worked with during my hospital visit, they just have really terrible communication about billing.
I share everyone else's frustration's with this joke of a company. I don't know how many bills I already paid the hospital for my ER visit to confirm my foot was broken and send me on my way home. Then 3 months after my visit I receive a bill which looks sketchy since I have no clue who EPPA is. Over $200 for a doctor to sit with me for 5 minutes take my blood pressure and say your foots broken here's a walking boot and crutches. Maybe the hospital and or independent doctors should be telling people that they do not work for the hospital. Next time I'll tough it out and wait to go to the clinic during normal business hours. The ER is nothing but a profit generator for corporate America.
Highly unprofessional billing. I went to the hospital in April, and it's June, and they have no record of my bill yet. Insurance told me what I would owe EPPA in May. Last year, the bill came 4 months after a different hospital visit. Their billing team told me to fight the charge with insurance, twice, and then sent me to collections. I only received one mailed bill from them. Someone in government and healthcare needs to fix this for us in Minnesota. Nobody ever warns you in the hospital that you will get a separate physician bill. The costs are enough to avoid the hospital and urgent care altogether.
Billing is a joke. On received text messages that appeared to be scammish in nature. No paper bill set to home address either. Poor practice from the hospital for not conveying that a 3rd party contracted doctor will also price gouge a client for making them wait 1 1/2 hours in a room and then just take your blood pressure and charge you $350 for this services. On top of that the hospital then charging a patient $600 as well. Joke practice all around showing what a joke the health care system in the US is. Fix your billing practices vs. just sending a text message out of the blue saying we're sending your bill to collections.
Billing seems to be a huge issue with this group. I received no paper bill only text messages. First text message I received was nearly 5 Months after services. 2nd text was a threat to send me to collections. Text messages look like scam coming through, so wasn't even sure what this was for. As others have stated this would have been a no stars review if that was an option.
