Stunning, Jaw dropping.. David is a true masterpiece and incredible to see in person. I found myself walking around him amazed by every tiny detail, It almost seems as if he could walk or speak at any moment. It is mind blowing when you think of the talent that it took to carve this from a single block of marble. David is a must see!!!!

As Vasari said, once you have seen the David it is useless to look at anything else !!! Too bad for 3h and 20 minutes in a row to enter. Row due to 3 factors:
1) presence of three files, one for groups, one for reserved and one for all the others
2) the first two rows had the slope to enter
3) reason why I give only two stars: if you are a foreigner (only foreigners, especially Japanese / Chinese) an abusive scalper outside the gallery can sell you a reserved ticket or let you join a "fake" group (which as mentioned in point two take precedence)! But for groups or reserved reserved tickets, not to stem this practice ??? And if there are, check that the name on the ticket coincides with that of the identity document?

The ticket costs 12 . Apart from Michelangelo's David there are some oil paintings by Florentine painters and Michelangelo's statues commissioned for the tomb of a Pope. A marble copy of David can be seen in Piazza Signoria or a Bronze copy in Piazza Michelangelo, for free!

I found his genitals very disappointing, for the rest he was a bit intimidating and the bustle around his statue did not improve the inescapable feeling of death by pletting a statue, I don't think it's worth the wait as it really took a long time , oh yes, I thought he would move or something, but he just stood still, a bit boring

One of the most important works of the Renaissance.

The museum as such contains several paintings, some triptychs, a room reserved for different busts and also a "mini" museum of music.

The only bad thing about the place is the amount of people there is always and the absence of air conditioning in all rooms.

Even so the visit is a must, the David by Michelangelo is a magnificent work of art that you can not miss seeing.

I read so many comments on the queue so I went with an expectation. Surprisingly the queue didnt kill me but the afternoon sun did!!
We went around 2.30pm and we are barbequing ourselves.
If you wanna queue without skipping the line ticket, do bring umbrella or prepare to face the wall or get free tanning services.

Perhaps I have seen too many paintings and sculptures in Italy. I find that the only worth seeing item in the gallery is David. Not so worth the money and time if you don't appreciate paintings and sculptures that much.
There is 1 copy in Florence, near Gucci Garden.
If you just want to see a David, that is a cheaper option.

Amazing.

Amazing.
Do not buy tickets in advance or from vendors at the door. The ticket can be purchased directly at the entrance for a much more affordable price.

A must visit when in Florence. The statue / the artwork is breathtaking. The museum is not too big. When reading and informing yourself with information you will spend beteren 30 minutes and one hour inside the museum. Take your time for the information near the statues and paintings. This will definately improve your visit and your view.

For the best experience you should make an early visit or/and book tickets in advance.
