Very clean hotel, rooms were decent size for New York
The hotel is farther from Times Square than we thought. We arrived at 3:30 and had to wait 40 minutes for a room because our room hadn't been cleaned or serviced. But the hotel is nice and the room and bed are good.
Nice room overall but had to wait about 2 hours past check in for room. No coffee machine, which they quickly brought. Only one towel, etc. Bed very comfortable.
Comfortable, clean room close close to the action. Very pleasant staff (thanks Paola). Love the doubletree cookie.
I don t know how to begin!!!! I will be begin by saying that when we first walked into our room after check in there was blood on the bathroom wall when we first arrived . The toilet was NOT working as it does not flush!!!!! We were also greeted by a cleaning cart in front of our door.. Mind you I paid for a city view but received a room facing a building . When we complained to staff they could only suggest using the bathroom facilities in the lobby. No one came to move the cart . No one came to fix the toilet and No one came to clean the blood off the wall. I am so embarrassed to have booked this room for our special trip. Please beware of staying at the Doubletree By Hilton Times Square South.
Small room, wet floor under the heater/cooler unit. They said they were repairing them though.
Staff were horrible. Definitely not up to the usual double tree standard. They did not even try to accommodate to our complaints. Rooms were small, stuffy and old. Not worth the money. Would recommend you to go to the other double tree thats 2 blocks away.
Night staff not very friendly. Day staff was pleasant but not enough to redeem the wet floor in the bedroom or the heavy cigarette smell in the bathrooms. We had 4 rooms and were unimpressed across the board.
Excellent service and well maintained rooms. Would stay again
I had asked for a Do Not Disturb sign 2x and instead they left a LATER weird looking sign outside my door? Clueless, What is that? Secondly had to call and call and Still calling and wrote out a report to a Raoul and Jeff because a few cheap items were left or Stolen from someone at hotel from my room. Raoul said he would e mail me get back to me about reimbursement. For a Hilton Hotel, this place is CHEAP. Telling me I am Out of Luck and should go to Police to file a Report. Then they Argued with me about the Breakfast. Acting cheap giving me a voucher and then in the morning the Waiters were So Rude to me and not let me get the Eggs and Avacado. Treated me like a Child they could not be Bothered with. Shamed of Them!
The rooms are very small but clean. The staff here is extremely nice. If you are on a high floor, be prepared to wait a while for the elevator during peak times.
Nice location, smallish rooms but expected given the location. Friendly staff.
The hotel did not have towels because they had not arrived from the laundry
Not worth the price but front desk folks are too friendly! Hats off to them
The hotel is good, it has internet with good connection, comfortable beds, they serve warm complimentary cookies at the reception (rs), it has a breakfast that serves well (it has yogurt, fruit, juice, etc.) and the reception was excellent! (if you are staying there look for "Sal" - name of the boy who helps guests). As a negative point is not having a service elevator (it happened for 2 days they closed one of the two elevators to transport mattresses at a bad time - from 9 am to 11 am - which caused a huge inconvenience to go up and down taking a long time - like me I was on the 17th floor, I didn't risk the stairs) and the rooms were carpeted.
Loved staying here. Great location, good service! Clean and comfortable room!
A nice hotel with a good location but it is pretty small
Would have been a 3.5. It all started as a nice stay... but the people in the room next to ours were smoking weed, in the middle of the night. We talked to the staff and it took them 2 days (out of 4) before something happened (and then maybe they just left the room)... Then my coworker got bedbugs in his room...
Two elevators and 36 floors. Expect a wait. Tiny rooms with late 90s style. No hot water in the mornings. There are better choices in the area.
Bad experience ... there is no water in the shower, it leaves very little and it ends super fast ...!
the hotel is well located, the staff is very friendly and in general is fine, however the rooms are a bit small, the breakfast included has very few things.
Excellent visit. Only in the hotel for a few hours but was a great location for our needs and staff was extremely friendly and helpful
Gave out free cookies when we got there and it has a great view. It's right in the middle of times square which is just great.
location location location!!
Breakfast buffet is worth it!
Very nice room with great showers and beds. Excellent service.
Pretty convenient location near subway and multiple attractions. Staff is okay. The breakfast is relatively poor especially given the price.
So this place is showing its age. Time for some renovations. Rooms were clean, staff was excellent but this spot is a little dated at this point.
Key features are good bathroom good mattress good work area/desk. Really nice staff. Thanks Crystal. The rooms are small and the elevator slow but I have paid a lot more for a worse experience. Great location in Hells Kitchen for transportation Broadway and eclectic dining. Cost me more to book via Orbitz than directly from Hilton website.
There are nearby works that have damaged the services of the hotel at the moment.
Rooms are small but big enough for two people. I thought breakfast was included in our reservation and it wasn't. The safe in our room wasn't working and we did not have time to be in the room to have it repaired. Our room was always well cleaned by housekeeping, fresh coffee setup, towels, toiletries. We always had VERY hot water in the shower. We did not get cookies at check in but asked for them later and they were delicious. Free bottles of water at the desk for Hilton members (its free just sign up online). Most front desk staff were very kind, quick to store or retrieve our luggage. Our room did not have a fridge or microwave. The hotel is very close to Javitz Center and we were there for a conference so that was great. Also just a few blocks to Times Square, Penn Station. The neighborhood is kind of dingy and under construction, with loud street noise sometimes at midnight. If you aren't there for Javitz Center you can probably find a nicer neighborhood for similar price range. The day we were staying there the price dropped by half as the hotel was not full and they would not adjust our price.
I was pleased with this hotel. Everything was great.
Very clean. Friendly staff. They let us borrow an umbrella when it was raining. Offered good places to visit and to eat.
Our stay was great! Friendly staff, FREE WARM COOKIES, clean, modern and quiet. Close walk to Penn Station and theater district. In Garment district. Tall building and only 2 elevators so it was a bit of a wait sometimes but nothing too bad.
Good room, clean.i got freshness when I enter in room.bed is soft and comfortable.i prefer first this.
Rooms are ridiculously cramped and poorly designed. The shower leaks water onto the bathroom floor and the sink sprays water everywhere and makes the Kleenex soggy. The rooms let in the sounds of the noisy streets, the AC is super loud and doesn't work well, and the ice machines on every floor are broken or disabled. The only good thing about this place are the wonderful people who work there, especially at the bar.
Very small rooms. The chair in the room had goop all over it, I dont want to know what that was!!!!! Linens were dirty and when we were given clean linens, they wanted us to make the bed up. The shower had mold in it and smelled moldy. The shower head was filthy. There were gnats in the bathroom. Full trash bags in the stairway that were there everyday of our stay. During the blackout that could've been a hazard.
Summary based on 1 midweek visit:
--not great tourist location, too far from mid town, but ok if you're looking for something in the Hilton chain that's less expensive and not that far from Penn Station or Times Square. Good for Fashion District location.
--rooms smaller than many Hiltons
--aircon floor/wall mounted unit in the room, like Courtyards. Less noisy than some.
--friendly staff, but sometimes overwhelmed at the desk
--good wifi with rare easy connect, even for smartphones
--small, but ok fitness center
--quiet street, but therefore less active for taxis than most
--several inexpensive places to eat fairly nearby
--management involved and sent first ever email before arrival
--ok elevator speed
--couldn't get early check-in
--breakfast buffet better than average
--if you have higher status with Hilton, your upgraded room may be disappointing
Is Hot Water too much to expect? Several days during our stay, by Mid Morning, it was take a cold water shower or no shower at all. Very disappointing.
Nice hotel. Excellent staff. Centrally located. But the rooms are very small(it's New York City) and ice only available on some floors. Good choice for a mid range place to stay in the Big Apple.
Room is NY sized, that is to say small. I have no problems with that, I almost expect it. But in the mornings the hot water will run out. Recommend showering at night. Elevator will also hang on certain floors (doors will randomly open in the middle of closing), delaying the elevator and making the queue for them even longer.
Even though they say it's pet friendly there is no reasonable place to walk them that is close. The rooms are small and the bathrooms are an awkward layout. The fridge itself was not functional either. For. Hilton honors member I was severely disappointed in the lack of service. But the location is close to times square and that's good.
The front desk staff are very welcoming, friendly and kind, they assisted us throughout our stay. The bar and restaurant staffs are also kind and provides great service. The room cleaning service is ok, the elevators are a hassle since they are small and only 2 of them are available.
Aside from the most worse check in I ve ever experienced, I don t know where to start. I often stay at Marriott hotels! However, this was a last minute reservation do to work. I stayed at this location two months prior where they had a lady being taken out in handcuffs by NYPD. I was promised the night of that incident a better stay the next time I came. And suprizingly I came back. The shower was cold, the A/C wouldn t go below 71 degrees all night. I called the front desk and experienced the rudest front desk attendant ever! Not helpful, and sat on her phone when I went down to address some of the issues. Not a New Yorker attitude either, I grew up here. They certainly don t live up to the Hilton s rules . I WILL NEVER CHOSE HILTON AGAIN! I wish anyone best of luck.
Easy check in. Nice room. Front desk staff extremely helpful and accomodating.
The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful, saving this from being a one star review. Apart from that, my room was unacceptable.
There was a door to the outside with the knob removed, leaving a half inch hole to pour cold air into the room. The door led to a patio restaurant or bar that was not in use. The shades did not cover the windows so I don't see how there's any privacy when the bar/restaurant is operational.
The heater was at hip height, meaning it was impossible to warm the floor where the cold air was collecting without making the rest of the room a sauna.
There was no electrical outlet next to the bed, either, so I charged my phone on the desk overnight. The sheets and comforter were also stained, although they had clearly been washed, at least.
I considered complaining to the management but thought there was no way they could be unaware of these issues, and thus they had thought the room acceptable for occupation in spite of the problems, meaning any complaints would likely be fruitless.
Overall, worth the price paid, but not a penny more.
Most comfortable mattress I ever slept on. Good location for tourists but a bit shady.
Convenient to Penn Station. Lots of places to eat nearby. The room didn't have a comforter but you could probably ask for one. Check in and out was quick and friendly.
Our 1st time in New York. Great, convenient location. 5 minute walk to MSG/Penn Station. 15 minute walk to Times Square. Rooms are small but clean. They have a safe and mini-fridge. Beds are firm and comfortable. Staff friendly and helpful. Only downsides? Small elevators and lots of construction around the property. And the cookies are as good as people say they are. Thanks for a great stay!
Dirty bedding and when asked to get new ones, attendant just handed everything for us to change all the bedding. Room was very small. Bacon given for breakfast was under cooked too.
Nice hotel, overlooking New York's skyline.
Breakfast delicious, but very greasy. Gladly again
Stayed for one night in a room with a king sized bed on one of the top floors. Paid extra for being on a higher floor/view. Our view was terrible. Looked out right onto an apartment building and water towers. The best part of the view was the H&M tower spires that were barely visible..The room was very small, including the bathroom. Upon the stay, we requested for a couple more towels (complimentary) in which we did not ever receive. There were also stains on the top of the loose white sheet. We were realllly looking forward to staying here, but it just didn't cut it. Only positive comment was the cookies..delicious!
I always stay here when I am in NYC. It was loud this time around for some reason and I couldn't sleep. you really just stay here because of the proximity to Time Square, Flat Iron building, Rockefeller center, and of course Empire State Building. Their breakfast here is actually terrible. $36 and it's pretty much continental. They should make you a fresh omelet for $36 but that's extra.
The rooms seemed nice and clean. I wasn't a guest however, so I can't speak to much more than that.
We stay there it was okay The rooms were okay the shower didn't have pressure the toilet was leaking and the desk finish was old but the staff was friendly and helpful and the location was good.
The staff were remarkably friendly, accommodating, and responsive to all of our requests, even during one of the busiest weekends of the year - New York Comic Con. I look forward to staying here again next year.
Great location to the Madison square garden, pleasant guest services, and love the wall cookies and complimentary waters in the room.
I found the staff to be very helpful and friendly. The location isn't bad, lots of places to visit around the area.
The location is convenient, but the room was dirty (hair on the bathroom floor and dusty), the furniture was beatup, and the breakfast was bland with a small selection of food. The service was polite and speedy, but it didn't make up for the high price and poor amenities.
A personalized hotel in Manhattan with a great price / quality ratio. Good breakfast.
Clean, friendly service. My company chooses this hotel for housing each year. Yummy and fresh cookies each time you arrive home. Very well kept hotel for NYC.
Service is good but rooms leave much more to be desired.
Walking distance to Jarvis centre, and decent hotel.
Average settings. Poor customer service and irresponsible hotel staff. Not a pleasant experience at all. There are other, better and cheaper options in or around that area.
Very accomodating. And close to a lot of sites. Great place to stay.
Great customer service people and very comfortable room. Very happy. I will return. Thank you Hilton !
Staff was warm, welcoming, and accommodating. Room was clean and in good order. Reason for three stars lay in that they ran a low rate deal to book up their hotel, fully aware that all the guest staying on the upper floors (15 and up) would be without water pressure in the morning due to a boiler break down they had nearly a week prior. They were fully prepared to play a game of let's make a deal with a stack of free breakfast buffet cards at the front desk. They were kind enough to open a room on a lower floor for my wife and my self to shower, but our family members had already made themselves content with cleaning up with what little cold water they could muster out of the sink in their rooms. So, shady business practice aside, once they are fully operational again this will be a wonderful hotel to stay in. Centrally located just off of times square with some of the most comfortable beds in the industry.
This place is horrible, the front desk are rude, bad customers survice, they are nasty behaviour, very bad bad bad bad
Great place to stay for the night. Clean beds fridge in room coffee. I would def stay again.
Good choice to stay in new york, but the price isn't cheap enough and the room is too small..but overall still recomended!
Excellent hotel and excellent location and a welcoming staff helped in every question
