Excellent. We returned to the former Bonnington where we spent our honeymoon 50 years ago and the hotel made it very special for us
Excellent. We returned to the former Bonnington where we spent our honeymoon 50 years ago and the hotel made it very special for us
Smallest rooms ever!! For 2 adults it's too small. No place to put clothing . The closet is hand to wrist deep and you can fit like 3 out fits on hangers. There is only space for one persons clothing in a drawer and bed is supposed to be a queen but is size of a super twin!! The staff is amazing but we bump into each other just walking around bed. The tub is soo small and the lights.... well you have to leave the card on alot to keep lights on.
Only had a meal which was excellent.10 mins walk to Dominium Theatre 0.5 miles.
Bathroom was not clean. I'll spare you the picture of pee and a pube on the toilet seat. Complained straight away and was given a voucher for a free house drink. They did offer to clean the room but I said my stuff was unpacked and it looked fine. Only noticed when I had a shower the next day that there was stubble on the tiles, a used shower gel behind the shower head and what looked like food on the table. Oh, and curtain doesn't cover the window. Reception staff were excellent throughout else this rating would have been less
Great service, hospitality was impeccable, recommended.
Great food but, hell, the bar prices very high++++ even for London
Great place to have a conference in Central London as there are many breakout rooms provided. The staff are helpful in setting up the facilities. The snacks provided at the tea breaks is good as is the hot food served at lunch. There is usually a large choice of desserts or cheeses.
Great hotel. Lovely food and very comfortable bed in very nice room! Would definitely recommend.
Easy to find and great location. The conference room was comfortable with repeater screens for those at the back of the room. Air conditioning kept the room just right on a hot June day. Lunch choice fairly limited but a good standard. Staff helpful and friendly.
Rooms are tiny and found couple human hair in the bath and on the carpet near the bed
No parking on site
Warm welcome (with warm cookies) and allowed to check in earlier than booked. Very useful for getting rid of luggage! Room was clean and of a good standard. Would stay with them again
Except for the noise from the hall, the rest is more than correct, rooms, breakfast, fitness 24/24.
Mediocre stay
Greeted on arrival as expected at the doubletree west end as a Hilton member - early check in, bag drop and warm cookies and complimentary upgrade to a newly renovated premium deluxe room. Great experience overall until 7am Sunday morning when we were woken by loud portering (clanging cages, shouting) surrounding our room in the hotel which continued until 8.30am.
Upon check out we informed the guest relations manager shalika of the problem and were met with a dismissive attitude - not what you would expect given the Hilton room promise of if you re not satisfied with your stay, let us know and we ll make it right .
Shalika proceeded to dismiss our claim further by saying that staff do not start until 8am.
At this point, we were only offered 10,000 Hilton reward points as an apology for the disruption and shalika said she would look into the matter.
Upon returning later in the day to collect our luggage, we asked for an update on the incident to which Shalika said it was a laundry company delivering linen to the doubletree hotel but as as this was not a Hilton employee who made the disruption, she would not offer any further compensation.
Our trip to London was for a special birthday and this was sadly ruined. Can this situation be rectified?
A great central location to go sightseeing in London. Comfy beds, quiet. What more do you need?
Excellent hotel in fantastic central location ideal for sightseeing. Staff all very professional, helpful and friendly. Excellent breakfast. I can't fault the hotel or staff.
The doors to my room and to the bathroom don't open more than 1/3 because the room is so small and crammed. I must have ran into the door 3-4 times during my stay... Breakfast was cold at 6:35 and it started at 6:30. Who knows how long the food had been sitting out. Ps. If you are a lot sleeper and men the window covers to actually cover the window, please check your room first to make sure it can do that. My "deluxe" accommodations don't include conversings that cover the whole window so it's bright in the room until 9pm.
Room was snug and breakfast was at best OK, great location in the middle of town
Terribly cold rooms, moldy bathrooms and a surprising lack of lifts. Probably the worst 4 Star Hotel I have ever stayed at.
The shortcomings listed here fit exactly, and the rest are okay.
Pros: Good location if you booked at a reasonable price / Lots of nearby supermarkets / Good breakfast (the menu is fixed and I keep eating the same thing)
Disadvantages:
Only the first 2 bottles of water are free (1 stay per booking for a few nights)
Still under construction (a construction sound was heard in the morning)....
Only 1 out of 3 elevators operate
Old-fashioned interior room
For reference, cleaning is just visible
I booked it well at a good price, but after seeing that I charged 1.5 pounds per bottle of water less than 300ml, I left a review because I was heartbroken.
Looking at the blog for reference
The room was small, so I self-checked in to the big room at the Hilton Garden Home.
Great front desk staff. Rooms are small but nice. Elevators are very small.
Attended the wedding of a friend. Lovely place and nice service. People behind the bar on the ground floor where very inexperienced making the experience of buying a drink a but painful.
Ok hotel .. location is nice but could be cleaner and more modern... food is just ok nothing fancy
Great location, rooms are small and need renovation
Close to Russell squadre and the British museum... smart elegance...excellent front office... very good breakfast
Its the Bonington Hotel Southampton Row WC1 Always very good.
Excellent welcoming and beautiful hotel. The staff are very friendly and approachable. The atmosphere is very nice and calming... As a five star hotel in the centre of London, it is naturally expensive. However, it is worth it for those thinking of spending nice time in a luxury hotel.
Dirty, small and dated rooms, worst hotel food I've tried both for breakfast and dinner (all was either super dry, over cooked, diet or artificial). Didn't clean any better when I asked for it (bathtub was sticky even). Beer selection embarrassing. Cleaner stole goods which I never got back. I'll never stay at Doubletree again, just shiny covered garbage is all.
Good service and great location. My favourite Doubletree.
Overpriced poor standard hotel. Small room, dark rooms. Uncomfortable.
Was previously scared by the negative reviews - on arrival, however, completely unjustified.
Extremely friendly staff, have asked for a quiet room and easily received - small fridge was on request even subsequently and immediately brought. The room is quite large, closet a bit small, bath comfortable big - all top. Fitness room was also very neat, great equipment from Precor - better than I am used to many a 5 star hotel. Only one elevator did not work, the other was fast and modern.
So I can highly recommend
Really not worth the price. The interiors are all old and outdated, the same goes for the all the facilities (like the shower takes ages to get going). Staff are unhelpful and snobbish. I would have expected much better from Hilton.
Room looked old fashioned ! Too expensive and I had no heat during the night.
been upgraded for free and got a nice large double room in an easy location to walk to Covent Garden
Pleasant staff, good location, comfortable room. Would use again without hesitation.
Everything including it's location services and behavior of staff was excellent.
The taxi obtained through hotel was very unprofessional and hotel staff asked me me to put it as complaint on website.
Room was a little on the small side, however it was well kept and clean. Staff were attentive, very polite and helpful, particularly at breakfast and at check-in. Breakfast was great and options plentiful, with copies of the 'i' newspaper available for guests to read in the morning. Overall we had a very nice stay with no issues, which contributed greatly to making our London theatre break an enjoyable time.
Great entrance, small room, which is moderately clean. The bathroom is spacious and yet you have on the toilet and in the tub while showering somehow no place. Classic English carpet in the room.
The location is awesome, but the rooms are likely to be renovated.
Great set menu for evening meal and good customer service
Really nice hotel which appears to have to been upgraded in areas and rooms. Good location near holburn and walkable to Euston
Best greeting/check-in process. Gorgeous lobby. Rooms are a bit dated but very functional and excellent for the price
Was a special day, and it lived up to expectations.
A bit dated, but functional. Location is good (central). Like all hotels in London, expensive for what it is.
Fantastic staff made us feel really welcome. The warm cookee is to die for
Friendly staff. Quick access to Holbein station. Clean lobby. Rooms a little worn, but perfectly ok.
Fantastic hotel, staf are very good and helpfull rooms are good clean and location which is amzing very very good location i like to stay in future aame hotel breakfast is very good
For a Hilton it looks like an old travel lodge. Out dated and the lifts wow you are lucky to have one working and the one that is modern is so small you can only get 1 person and the suitcase in. If you want a Hilton would recommend another one then this one.
Lovely hotel! The reception staff were very friendly and so quick checking us in. They even gave us a cookie! The room was so spacious. They had plenty of shower gels shampoos etc which was handy however the hot water wasn't great and the power of the shower was a bit weak. The breakfast selection was lovely it was a great stay overall and perfect location to our Christmas party at Victoria House. Its a few metres from Holborn so very handy!
Good central location, rooms are unusually small, the a/c rattled all night. Service was adequate for our requirements
Clean. Modern. Elegant. Perfect for exploring the west end. Staff are extremely helpful
Great bar area. Comfortable seating. Good service but drinks are expensive.
I wouldn't give this Double Tree more than 3 stars. Most of the rooms are not renovated and they don't provide the usual service that one would expect from Double Tree by Hilton hotel!
The services were very luxurious and very clean. The bar was correct, a little expensive. It is located a little from the center. Otherwise, great.
Went for a work event. Food good (but not enough), venue decent.
Popular hotel. Good position, close to many attractions.
Good hotel, close to Coven Garden and very convenient in case you feel like having a night at the theater without having to make endless trips back to the hotel.
Clean and up to expectations, it boasts a clientele diersified by age and social background.
I didn't have the pleasure of testing the breakfast room, but I can say that the room was a fairy tale!
The only drawback, if I may say so, is the fact that the (Italian) staff spoke to me in Italian even though I was speaking in English. Personally I don't find it a cuteness in the client's accounts (but it could be my problem).
The DoubleTree brand has always a lower tiered luxury than the standard Hilton hotel but this hotel is located near the West-End of London which is very exclusive. This dichotomy is shown in the hotel.
The lobby and restaurant areas are very high end. The rooms could have been very high quality but certain corners were cut to reduce cost and annoyed me very much.
It seems that the core of the building is very old and was made from tiny dimensions. The two areas are lifts and the bedrooms. The entrance of the lift could just about accommodate 1 person, unbelievable. The rooms were ultra compact but still with key items, just giving them a cramped feel. There was a double electrical socket above the desk, well placed but part British and part European - brilliant. The desk lamp did not have its own socket and was plugged into the British socket with no socket for the guest use. Inconsiderate design. The loo roll was on the opposite wall but still reachable from the loo - that is how small the entire room was.
The breakfast restaurant was managed by a true genius, it was very high and and deserved to be in a 5 star hotel. This was spacious with an extremely well stocked buffet and great service - absolutely fabulous. A bit expensive but great experience. All hotels are over priced in London.
Go for the food and service and you would not be disappointed. Rooms not so much.
Small hotel with small room. But with everything you need. Welcome cookie when you arrived. Quite helpful staff
think it was weird that they did not have the bricks ...
Good service, nice food, but, that being said, it was hard to enjoy either with the constant sound of drilling, during our company's seminar.
This is an impressive hotel with a large reception area and a nice bar. The free warm cookie was a nice touch as we checked in. (usual for Double Tree hotels). The room was a good size and the facilities were ok. Would have been nice to have more UK plug sockets around the room. The downside was that there was no fridge. We bought an extra pint of milk that we left in the sick of cold water to stop it going to spoil. Unfortunately, the cleaner removed this to clean then didn t replace it. So when we got back the milk was off! What was worse, is that the cleaner didn t replenish the milk for the usual supplies so we had to go out and purchase more milk that night. The shower was not very good at all. Some of the lifts stopped working during the stay, but at least one was working. I didn t try the hotel restaurant but it did look lovely. The offer for afternoon tea was good value.
Ok. Nothing wrong. Renovated lobby, rooms are nice enough for London but very old building and you can tell. Good bed though.
I booked at a reasonable rate for a special rate, but I'm so sad that I had expected too much because of the hotel name. The staff were very friendly and the cookies were delicious.
Wonderful staff. Clean clean rooms. Huge American size bed and close to the British museum. Yes please!
Great hotel. Great service at recepcion, bar and restaurant. Just failed the cleaning service in one night.
Excellent location close to tube station, very helpful staff and rooms were comfy
Great location. Visited for a professional event in small conference rooms. Buffet food is below average. Service from staff was great, very helpful but difficult for them to perform their roles well with poor coffee, fragments and food options. Conference rooms are poorly equipment, hugely problematic LCD screens, overly complicated and restricted WiFi. Should not take 30 mins and multiple staff members to get LCD screen working with a laptop. Shame, has so much potential, but beware of these issues if booking conference rooms.
