Got a last minute room at an affordable price, room was nocer than expected and the hotel is right on the water. Booking agency accidentally placed us in a double rather than a single and the staff was quick and friendly about moving us to the appropriate room. Staff texted after check in to make sure things were running smoothly and seemed genuinely concerned. Would definitely return again!

Disgusting property overall, shower doesn't drain, toilet flushes poorly, worst hilton experience ever -- time to give up gold status and find another hotel to use for all needs going forward

DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Berkeley Marina, is located on the waterfront in Berkeley marina, which is 30 minutes from Oakland airport, OAK, and about an hour from San Francisco airport, SFO. They run a complimentary shuttle service to the BART, and the local area. The hotel is modern and spacious, however it is worth noting that they charge for parking despite being on a remote location. There is a nice lobby with a convenience store, bar and restaurant. They have a nice gym and a good size indoor pool with a Jacuzzi. The rooms are modern, well planned and very functional, however the bathrooms are on the small side. Breakfast is nice with an extensive selection. Overall a good hotel at a nice and quiet location.

Extremely horrible stay, from 12/5-12/8! Our room never got cleaned, ran out of toiletries, wash rag & towels, garbage overflowing, called front desk to have someone bring them to the room which never happened! Had to go to the front desk the next morning to have someone bring the toiletries & towels we needed! Just really wasn't please with my stay there!

We had our wedding block here. We'd booked before COVID but greatly scaled down our wedding in summer 2020. Shaun & Natasha were accommodating and the hotel was VERY clean. They even set up an outside space for our rehearsal lunch. Beautiful views of the water & free parking across the street!

The was clean and nice. We had a small room mix up at check in but the office made it more than right. We had a room on the marina. We were given a new and nicer room with a complimentary breakfast and a fresh fruit and water as compensation. I would defintely stay in the hotel again. The hotel is being remodeled but the service was excellent.

Besides having a beautiful view of the Marina and nice clean room, the hotel buildings are old and the paying rate is high. They also charge $30 parking fee per night, where it should be free, in my opinion, when you pay more that $280 per night.

I booked a room at the DoubleTree for a friend's w...

I booked a room at the DoubleTree for a friend's wedding, and my experience was less than satisfactory. When I arrived at 3:45pm, I was informed that my room was not yet ready. Granted that one was on me, I was 15 minutes early to the 4:00pm check-in time. However my room wasn't ready for over an hour past the check-in time (putting me dangerously close to the time the wedding was scheduled to start). I was not the only one to experience this issue, or similar issues, as multiple people/groups who were there to attend the wedding were also made to wait that long, and some didn't even get the type of room they had paid for.

The rooms themselves were pretty average, which for such a high-priced hotel sporting "bay views" (which I'll get to later) I thought was a little disappointing. The only glaring issue with the rooms themselves are the small bathrooms that every room seems to have. There is also the issue of the "bay view" that many people are most likely look for when booking a room. To those people I say "don't bother." There are very few rooms that can be considered to have a "bay view," and most of these simply look out into the marina as opposed to the actual bay.

My last issue with the hotel however occurred in the morning after the wedding, before I checked out. I had been told that there was a breakfast to be had in the restaurant area that was available until 11:00am. What I had not been told however was that the breakfast was not complimentary, and was in fact $30. Now normally I'm OK with paying a little more money for good food, this however was not the case. The breakfast that was served (in a buffet style) was the exact same breakfast I've seen being served at every other hotel I've ever stayed at, and was far from being worth the price. Unfortunately for me I discovered this fact after eating and was of course not happy with the timing of this information.

Overall: I doubt I will be booking a room at this, or any other DoubleTree Hotel, in the future.

Before even checking in, its been a funky experience.

I expected to check in at 4pm, and got in to Oakland airport at 8am. I called to check that I could drop off my luggage, and as expected, the person I spoke with said "yes, bring it on by" - however, they also asked "would you like me to check if we can check you in early as well?" Of course, I didn't expect that, but I said "sure, that would be cool if that could happen" - and I was told "yes, we can check you in now, if you come by the hotel."

Super cool, right!?

Yes, except when I got to the hotel, the person at the check-in desk said "we don't have any rooms" and asked "who did you talk to, which check in desk?" and so forth. I called the number on Google Maps - I have no idea who that connected me to, but I expect that to connect me to someone who's giving me accurate info.

So...super annoying to have conflicting messages, and setting up false positive expectations. Customer experience = blah!

Glorified motel at hotel prices. Location is nice right at the Marina - if you want to be away from everything. Rooms are basic with everything you need but are quite worn. Rooms are not very well sound insulated so you will hear neighbors and people in the hall. Gym has a small weight area and a separate cardio area as well as a decent size pool. Expensive on-site parking but there s free and plentiful roadside parking right outside (and no fence). Very friendly staff.

I was super excited to experience the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel. From the online information that I researched it seemed like a very upscale ritzy place. But on arrival it was a very different reality than I expected. The floors were dirty walls were dirty very poor maintenance. Low water pressure and all four buildings had a musty tobacco stink to it. If you are looking to stay at the DoubleTree for work or social related activities I would suggest staying in a difference motel and commuting to DoubleTree for your social activities. Very disappointed in this Motel!

This hotel kind of looked stodgy on the outside, the elevators smelled like hydraulic fluid, and the hallways had a strange odor, but I can say the room was just great! It had all new furniture and really nice clean carpets. It had a gorgeous lg the that has Chromecast built in so it was easy to stream Netflix, and if you get the fourth floor the ceilings are high and vaulted and the view of the Berkeley Marina is just gorgeous! The staff is friendly too and the gym and pool late nice. And it's dog friendly

A bit out of the way via some rough roads that pass through homeless encampments. The hotel itself is somewhat rundown; however the rooms are sized nicely. And the proximity to the bay and water views are very nice. There are a lot of walking trails around the property as well as a gym.

Spent one night. It's a spread out layout and separated into different blocks. You can park your car outside your block. By the way parking was free and valet parking is also available. The room we had was so so. It was clean. The TV was placed a bit awkward from the couches and too far away from the bed. The toilet was definitely 3-star.
The catering was on the down side. Breakfast was simple. Of course we had dinner in the more posh area of Berkeley.
Seemingly the more appealing attraction was that it was by the marina.

Start off with check-in, you get free cookies when you check-in. Beautiful location and the views are amazing and can see the golden gate bridge. Room service is great and fast. Rooms are spacious and clean when entering. There are little patios with chairs and a table. Definitely pay a little extra for rooms with the marina view or the bridge view. You can see the sunset and its so gorgeous. No complaints at all with my stay.

I loved this hotel in Berkeley! It s close enough for a quick Uber ride out and far away enough that you feel like you re on a vacation away from the world. The sunset views here are amazing by the water. I enjoyed the restaurant here as well. I d stay here again.

Pretty ridiculous when you have the shower handle that automatically drops down to the center causing the water to only be luke-warm the entire shower. No vent in the bathroom and the toilet tank takes 10 minutes to fill back up. Have to pay for WiFi, what a joke. Spend your money elsewhere!

Not a bad place to visit, the road leaving the marina area is terrible but manageable. The homeless have established a living space all around the area. But the hotel itself is so nice, well kept and easy to get around with lovely views. If you stay here to visit the city rent a car, Uber is not fiscally worth it.

So I have never wrote a bad review about a place but this is worth knowing for female guest that plan on staying here in the future. One of my friends stayed here and someone tried to get in her room in the middle of the night while she was sleeping but good thing she had the door bolted, that same night an employee insisted on coming in our room to bring a menu that we refused many times at 10:30pm. (he was unaware of my presence and assumed my gf was alone). Please be on guard when staying here.

The views and location were amazing. Overall nice and clean rooms which were very pleasant to stay in. Although the beds were rather small, I enjoyed my sleep. The dining room, on the other hand, was exquisite with perfect views of the marina. The staff was always extremely helpful and friendly. Definitely would recommend and stay again.

A hotel with relatively average room quality (though the Hilton Honors room I stayed in lacked a microwave) benefits from its position on the bay. Rooms have an excellent view of the Berkeley boat club. A ten minute drive from the UC Berkeley campus makes this a great place to stay when visiting.

We went here for the restaurant. Ambiance was great, food was prepared with care. I got the ribeye steak, medium rare, and the spinach artichoke dip. Both were delicious, and seemed to be fresh. Service was good, despite it being there at the end of the night. There's even an indoor fireplace. We'll be going back soon.

Hotel design looks to be from the 80s with tall vaulted ceilings. Furnishings, bathrooms and HVAC units could be modernized. Hotel grounds are beautiful with the water and marina so close by.

Breakfast buffet had a very large selection of hot and cold foods. Had some Asian inspired foods. I would not recommend the "Shu Mei" if you want authentic. Taste like a black bean veggie burger. Outside bar area at nice is relaxing and cozy with outdoor heaters and two fire pits.

The location is a bit secluded so if you want something close to the food and edginess of Berkeley but also want to be by the bay this is it.

Note: The road too and from the hotel is probably the worst thing about this hotel. Filled with potholes and broken asphalt the 5-10 minute drive to a normal paved road is a bit of rollercoaster.

What's the worst way to start a vacation? I'm sur...

What's the worst way to start a vacation? I'm sure there's lots of travel stories out there that could answer that question but here's mine for the week...Pulling up to your hotel at 1 am only to be told that they overbooked and gave away your room.

For a weekend getaway, we decided to travel to Berkeley and spend some time on the water. We booked our stay at the DoubleTree in Berkeley using the online reservation system, entering a credit card to hold the reservation and everything. Wednesday prior to arrival (we were arriving on a Friday), I called to confirm that we would be arriving around 12:30 - 1:00 am on Friday evening/Saturday morning. The receptionist gladly added a note to the reservation and said "no problem!" The receptionist that had to tell us our reservations was not going to be honored (a very nice woman with a very rough job) even recognized the note in their system.

After a long day of travel we walked in to the DoubleTree only to be told that they were "out of rooms" -- that's right, the reservation didn't matter, no rooms. DoubleTree sent us down the road to the 'comparable' La Quinta Inn. I would hesitate to call it 'comparable' considering our weekend on the water has transformed in to a weekend nestled between a gas station and a Chinese take-out restaurant.

I will never be returning to DoubleTree Berkeley and I will certainly avoid staying at other DoubleTree hotels in fear of a similar situation.

Potential DoubleTree customers, please do not support these profit-driven decisions by the DoubleTree. DoubleTree Management, please consider a different policy. I travel nearly 40% of my time for work and have never run in to this problem. Sure, I've stayed at plenty of places that charge my credit card whether or not I ever make it to the hotel but I sure would rather have that (and know that my room is waiting for me) than have my vacation plans taken away from me.

Worst Wedding Ever. The most unrespectful, unorganized, and unprofessional organization and staff I have ever had, The wedding organizers Kriston Boston and Director Alvarez Davillier RUINED my wedding because of lack of preparation. Our wedding was scheduled to start at 5 o'clock and the hotel scheduled another wedding within a 15 min time frame causing complete and utter chaos. More so Our wedding Hall was changed from the huge events room to a small restaurant the night before the wedding without any notice. Because of the Hilton double trees lack of Organisation, bad preparation and plain and simple unprofessionalism they ruined my wedding. Please Do NOT book events or wedding at the Hilton Doubble Tree you will be dissappointed.

The only hotel I ever seen more filthy was in Tijuana, Mexico. I don't see how this ever passed inspection to be called a, Hilton. You can see daylight coming out from under your room doors. There is exposed wiring everywhere. Broken receptacles. Big plants covering emergency fire signal pulls and directional signs. Trash cans and ashtrays throughout the property are overfilling. Parking lot markings and drains are all worn out and in dire need of paint. Paint on side of building is bubbling and peeling off. Walking area is crumbling and unsafe. There is literally duct tape covering up smoke detectors on the ceiling. 90% of the baloney railing are broken and out of level. All the building entrances security locks don't work so anyone living across the street in one of the hundred tents with transients and drug using individuals can walk right in. Windows are hard to see out of. The outside seats need new paint/stain. Only one parking lot attendant so you must wait a long time for your car. This place looks more like a rundown Motel 6.... makes me wish I could take away stars and not be forced to give 1 star to leave feedback.
